xD many cloudmining sites are unmasked as ponzis for a noob, i would recommend anything but a cloud mining site unless you have a huge amount of asset and luck Tongue

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

What about these people that lost in legit sites like amhash and gaw? Well, gaw is not very legit, but at least it is a registered company with public owners (going to jail soontm) and it is rated quite good in Puppet list having in mind how scammy they are.

Investing in GAW was warned by community especially their ponzi coin.

I don't blame AMHash completely assuming it wasn't a planned theft. Anyway, there is risk in everything and I didn't only tell about ponzi sites. I used "most" but I understand it can does have a second meaning.

From the mail communication that Rock Xie published later, it seems FriedCat's theft was indeed planned.

Of course it was planned, well, unless he decided to steal spontaneously which I kinda doubt a bit Grin
On a more serious note this whole scheme involving different companies etc looks complicated, maybe even complicated on purpose. And the offering price, fees and even compensation after liquidation (not AMHashLC, but that initial compensation of ending contract after it is unprofitable)was a bit too good at the start when you look back..

Was the Ponzi coin Paycoin?  Nearly got involved with that.

Its a technique scamcoins (I.E.. XPY) use to lock up your assets while the premine gets dumped on the exchanges for profit while you watch the value of your investment plummet in value without any recourse or a ponzi operation.

Either way ... a complete disaster.

I see... But it's ok to stack PoS coin yourself isn't it? If the premine is low. I know paycoin is a scam, but I stake paycon now and it looks quite interesting Grin

PoS coins IMO is a great way to accumulate if you have loads of it. But if some other entity hold your coins for you, well that's a different story. Playing with alts is good; it gives you a lot of knowledge, experience, and moneyif you are lucky.

One way or another, paycoin will become a total disaster in the end, just like any other scamcoins that pulled off the same trick.

I don't really see the point but if you like extremely high risk investments ... go ahead.

You're right it's better to gamble than cloud mine at least they won't run with your money.

I would say neither gambling or cloud mining is a good way.    Find other investments then either one.

Gambling always lose in long run plus is not really regulated like normal gambling, as far as what they follow.   Cloud mining so many just pick up and close one day, its rediclous.

I think staking is the way to go from now, mining will earn you a very minimal profit and take a long time to ROI.

Just search 'cloud staking' and DON'T invest in GawMiners.

GAW just got sued for owing a ton of electricity cost.  That plus paycoin doing bad I don't see them making it another whole year.

I predict they are sued into bankruptcy.

I always wanted to mine but never had enough resource. Over month, I have gathered around 0.11BTC from faucets and twitter giveaways, with which I want to buy hash power. The cheapest one I see around is offered by www.cloudmining.website, which is 0.001 BTC/GHs. But, before I invest, I'd like to know what people want to say about their experience about this service. As it seems, at current difficulty, I should reach ROI at 4 month. Please advise...

Update 30/03/2015: In fact, I invested 0.11BTC in this service and have already made ROI. Smiley

It is good that you got your ROI by investing in a legit cloud mining company, whereas there are many out there which are nothing but blatant lies and ponzis that payout only few months and they run away with your money, so beware and do your research well before choosing a legit one.

A lot of people have actually made ROI. Only those who report that could not make.

Have you checked more about cloudmining.website? That is pure ponzi scheme. I don't understand why you use "legit" there. I first thought you don't know ponzis do pay first and then run away but after seing your next lines, I understand that you know it but you haven't checked about cloudmining.website. It is obvious owner(s) don't have enough money to even register a proper domain. Please check before using terms like "legit", "scam" etc...

In general, .website domain costs more than .com.

.website @ name.com = 19.99 USD
.com @ name.com = 10.99 USD

.website @ enom.com = 25.99 USD
.com @ enom.com = 13.95 USD
