I bought some HAM coins about 6 months ago and I see that the price has dropped. Has there been much work getting HAM working on the new DMR and dStar radios? I am shopping for a digital handheld because a lot of our club members are getting them and we are talking about upgrading our repeater.

Hamradiocoin has changed hands development-wise, the guys that were formerly running it decided to opt-out over the New Year. The price indeed tanked not long after this and the Cryptsy announcement I'm afraid.

Not sure what the new devs have in mind for this project. I may still get around to finishing my kryptoradio implementation that I was working on, but I cannot justify the effort at this time if the original codebase might change at any time.

It's been a long time coming and overdue but we did it.

HamRadioCoin is now the first Cryptocurrency being transmitted around the world via Satellite thanks to the Outernet guys!



We may reload the QR addy after someone figures out how to grab the first 100 Coins. It's really easy to import them
but I will leave it to the crypto community to figure it out..

wow really nice work, so ham is for the 60 percent of people worldwide who dont have access to internet and crypto for the rest 40 percent:-) ?  seariously theres lot of potential in this, time to get those 60 percent of the world into crypto.

Why change the name? It is perfectly fitting for it's purpose: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_radio

I am more concerned about the changes the new dev may make to the network and how they will affect the overall consensus model. This is a debate not limited to HAM.

I know you are waiting to see if Crunck is gonna change the code at all but I sure would like to see him add a
few old school bitcoin guys to the dev team, it would be awesome, HAM has always been a proving ground for
alternate blockchain tech transport but since it's a altcoin it might be a tall order...

There was mention of making it a hybrid PoW/PoS coin which I think is a terrible idea. HAM is meant to be moved over vastly different channels than your average crypto and needs fewer moving parts, not more.

and still be only a small image file, same with audio, like audio data Chirp little a ways back in this thread.
Playing with the delivery system does not require and modifications to HAM the coin, Just how you use it. For that matter the blockchain could be sent via a never ending series of QR codes encrypted and decrypted on either end of the stream, same with audio...

Mesh networking was one of the things I had discussed with Garmin about bringing to HAM. I am not sure what happened to that part of the project, but there was a discussion forum amongst some Italian hams about for a while iirc.
