Great writeup Phil. Having owned an SP10, and dealing with the ear-piercing scream it put out, how do the fans on the SP20 compare in pitch to those fans? I don't mind something a little loud as long as it isn't that awful screeching whine. Don't suppose you could grab a quick audio clip of the fans at a few different speeds and post it could you?

They are just as loud, but personally speaking the pitch on the fans is much more tolerable than the SP10.

The miners are in the basement. With the SP10, I could hear that thing throughout the house, even with the fans on their lowest settings. I had an S2 and couldn't hear it. I've currently got 8 S3s and can't hear them either.

still looking for the db meter. getting too much gear in the house. I am running 10 s-3's and 1 sp20e I have 9 s-3's in the garage near the work bench and I have the sp20e Figures I set the gear all up and temps jumped to 74f . making the attached garage 92f and making the house 85f had to shut gear off over night to be able to sleep. Today is cooler around 62 f house and garage are both better. I will photo setup. @ sbogovac raskul was helpful in selling it to me. @ raskul thanks. and I am send some more hash at mmpool 3 s-3's and 1 sp20 they stack well and air is feeding out my garage's back door 2 quality psu's the egva 1300 g2 and a seasonic 1200 watt plat. my garage can safely do 5k watts I have 5 20 amp 120 volt circuits into it. when i am running all 10 s-3's and the 1 sp20 I am at 4.kwatts for now the issue is heat since it is about 57f the garage is warm but my entire home is also warm. So realistically I am close to max. my hashrate is 5.5th . I could fit 2 more s-3's or try to arrange a few more sp20's . my 10 s-3 to 1 sp20 = 5.4th 4kwatts should be 5 s-3's to 3 sp20's = 6.5th same 4 kwatts. 3 more s-3s' they are above the fist photo

the gratitude is all mine to you Mr Ph. the small commission earned from your sale went towards a month hosting on a couple of SP10 that I had in SP-Tech datacentre. re: mmpool, i reckon everyone mining with SP-Tech gear should try it out for a round and see what they've been missing

Yes 80% Heres one with the replacement Scythe Ultra Kaze fan: http://youtu.be/ddyps5nf9LAyeah that is a lot better then 40 or 50 setting. I can get away with it as it is in my garage but if you have an apartment not a home the sp20e is loud. gotta say what a nice piece of gear compared to the asicminer prisma. comparing this to the newest ant miner s-3+ that has voltage and freq settings is tough. you can argue a lot of ways as to what is better. since the sp20e uses 1 ethernet wire cost shipped to the usa is about 910 usd power settings allow for 750 watts and 1350 gh fans is loud. the s-3 4 of them cost 1034 usd you can set them to do 4x 450 = 1800gh and 1350 watts. both are under clock under vote options. if you have a lot of room and cheap power the s-3 may be your choice. if you are tight on space and power costs more the sp20e is better. a blend of the two may be better for some. I think these two are the best gear around. s-4's and or sp30's have never entered my testing space. so tough to say what I think of them. as a 2.5 year miner my choice today is an s-3/ sp20e mix.

Some follow up. Some quirks if the settings are .62 , .62, .62, .62 max volts at .67 watts at 175. it does not like to restart so I changed settings.-------I bit the bullet and boosted the fan from 40 to 60 but I found a good sound damper. Temp Front / Back T,B 30 °C / 64,61 °C Fan Speed 60 Start Voltage 0.65 / 0.65 / 0.63 / 0.63 Max Voltage 0.667 Max Watts 182 / 182 / 180 / 180 Solid 1330-1350 at both btcguild and at mmpool I run it with a s-3 so the 2 unit's on the evga 1300 pull 1100 watts and are doing 1330 + 466 = 1796. I get nice cool numbers with fan at 60,but it is loud. I have a way to manage sound. see photos of white fire blanket and blue moving blanket. I will pick up a few pieces of sheet metal on black fri. I think I will buy 2 or 3 more of these and sell off 6 of my s-3's. 3 of these would use 2250- 2400 watts with under clock get 4th 4 of these would use 3000 - 3200 watts with under clock and get 5.3 th mdf board with white fire blanket 3 s-3's and 1sp20E behind the board+ blankets. garage door is open and it finally got cold in NJ under 40f so all gear is cool white fire blanket and blue movers blanket movers blanket to block sound temps are now 79 and 81 f much better then 91-93f the other day when if was 74 f outdoor temp

I wonder if someone had adapted a garden box (wooden or plastic) or a small shed to put miners inside. If you have done this with any miner-let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking for a solution like this so I can enjoy Sp-20 or some other miner(s) outside of the house-I have small patch of a garden, so I cannot put a large shed in. Garage would not work for me because I live in a 40-50 house gated "community" and I don't want people who walk around to peer at my equipment constantly.

Solid 1330-1350 at both btcguild and at mmpool
I run it with a s-3 so the 2 unit's on the evga 1300 pull 1100 watts and are doing 1330 + 466 = 1796.
I get nice cool numbers with fan at 60,but it is loud. I have a way to manage sound. see photos of white fire blanket and blue moving blanket. I will pick up a few pieces of sheet metal on black fri.
Thanks for the review. My 2 cents: In your underclocking settings the miner is running cold, and you can set the fans to lower settings for sure. As long as none of your ASICs above 100c, your fan setting is too high They can go to 115c before throttling starts.
