I'm thinking about buying some mining hardware and have a few questions. I looked online and stumbled upon the following products

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020141016120002527iTkNypAG06C9

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020141015100808946Nj1LM03y0650

What is your opinion on the two pieces of hardware?

What would I need to do to them mining bitcoins?

Thank you.

You will need to buy PSU since the PSU not included, for C1 you will need to buy water pump +  accessories as indicated on the site.

Just one point of advice. Calculate the Ghs/Ths those hardware will provide u, the expected delivery time and the estimated difficulty rise before u place your order.

Thank you guys for your advice. It is much appreciated. I ended up not going with either of the ones I listed in the OP, but instead paid less than $15 for a 200 Gh/s miner.

Thanks again!

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. You'll definitely be able to ROI with that in less than a month.

That would depend upon the J/GH of the miner and the cost of electricity. Breaking even in less than a month is highly unlikely.

Neither.  You should've sprang for this instead:

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201412220650169743S9QlmHx069D

Add inexpensive PSU, mooch off Mom's electricity, and voila, profit in no time(90 days)!

Regards of power costs, paying that much for that much hashing power is guaranteed ROI, as long as Bitcoin's price doesn't nosedive. It's basic math.

Yup, this. The OP probably bought a S1 which is very inefficient in terms of electric use. Unless he has very cheap or free electricity then he will unlikely be able to ROI after electric costs.

IMO the OP would be better off buying the S5 which is ~450 shipped to the US and is much more power efficient then the S3+ or the C1

I think it`s a good product as Bitmain is good. I did not have personal experience with C1, but with S1,S2 and S3 miners.
You need good PSU ready.

If you want to buy it I cen give you coupon:
AntMiner C1 Coupon 50 USD but it`s valid till To 2014-12-30 11:10:00 only.
If you want it, send me yout Bitmain ID and I will donate coupon to you.

I won't tell you what to buy or how to mine, but I will remind you to keep your mining area clean, dust-free, and cool. Makes a difference.

Why do people think an S1 will ever earn $15 after electricity costs?! Before you factor in the cost of electricity, it only earns $0.80 per day. And at 2w/GHs it will probably cost a $1.00 per day to run, lol.

Have fun and get rich! What could possibly go wrong?   Roll Eyes

I'm not doing this to get rich. It's more of just a hobby really. No need to try and belittle people on an internet forum.

Any concerns about my bitcoin wallet when switching out my hard drive for an SSD?

All you need is your wallet.dat, I believe. Keep that file saved somewhere and transfer it to your new drive afterwards.

Well, as far as hobbies go, I guess it's a cheap price to pay. Some hobbies could cost you 10's of thousands of dollars.

And is this your first time on an internet forum? Just asking.

I tend to agree with you but without really knowing what he pays for electric we really don't know. Some up in the Northwest say they have ultra low electric cost. But really $15 will be either a cheap learning experience or an addiction.

No I get what you're saying it just came off a little rude I guess. Forget I said anything.

Anyways for those of you wondering, keep in mind I DO NOT pay for electricity, I have an antminer s1 running and just ordered an antminer s5 while it was 15% off. As one of the guys said above, I could easily see this hobby become an addiction of mine.

Also, does anyone know where I might be  able to get my hands on the antimer s1 upgrade kit? Thanks
