i really believe that they'll accept bitcoins not only in US, as many other companies as well started with US and then were available for the rest of the world. Smiley

I am not sure, how a Microsoft Account exactly works, but I guess, you just load money into your account and than buy stuff with that money.
I don't see, why loading your account with bitcoin should be exclusive for the USA.

I think apple will never integrate bitcoin as method of payment , they will use *apple Pay*. Microsoft instead has an open mentality , and it experiments everything.

Now just hope this great news will reflect in price. To be honest I doubt it. When Paypal's news was released, we saw a small spike. A few hours after that the price dropped to below original levels...  Cry

The big question now is this: If I am a contractor for Microsoft can I select to be paid in bitcoin?

*that* is where things go from simple payment transfer thing to real "money".

I'm quite thrilled with this news, with mighty Microsoft leading the charge:

I thought for sure Google would've beat MS to the market in Bitcoin adoption, but hey we'll take it!

Apple, meanwhile, seems to be still stuck on the past:

Just saw 'redeem bitcoin' option in the screenshot above. What does it do? Does it allow consumers to withdraw btc from microsoft account or is it just to convert btc to usd?

Wow, this is amazing! I never thought i'd see this. I think the reason Microsoft beat Google is because google has their "Google Wallet", and are too stuck up to move forward within this world of crypto.

I believe it's just to convert from BTC to USD for purchase of Microsoft Products, XBox apps, and mobile content:

Well they just in last month announced the shitcanning of google wallet by sometime in spring. So there was some thought that they may be launching something to replace it between now and then.

Last company I expected to ever adopt it, but a good move nonetheless. +1 on hoping Google hurry up as well.

Does somebody have a timeline about when big companies started accepting Bitcoins?
I  would be interested in that.

Payment in bitcoin is illegal in China. Chinese may not use bitcoin to pay for MS products.
MS is offering this service to USA only, as for now.
Also, you are not paying with bitcoins for MS product, you are only using bitcoin as a pyament method to fill your MS account with $ at current exchange rate.

Yes you will charge your microsoft account with bitcoin , and then convert it instantly in dollars but only if you live in USA and have an usa account.
