There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Hey!
I just announced my new site, bitcoins4.me! You can get bitcoins for free every hour, just by submiting your address. Payments are made in about one day.
You can keep track of updates in this topic.

 Smiley

If any of you try it out let us know if you get a payout.

I've tried this site ...
http://www.bitcoins4.me/

and it says "Error! The address is not valid. Try again."

and this other one based in spain ...
http://www.elbitcoingratis.es/

which says "ERROR: La direccion de tu Bitcoin Wallet NO es correcta, compruebala."

... So two different sites saying that my address is invalid although I have used this address on about 20 different sites with no problem .  Anyone else getting this ?

I have noticed this too with bitcoins4.me.  Is the address you used less than 34 characters?
It seems that site rejects valid addresses with less than that number of characters even though there are valid Bitcoin addresses which have only 33 characters.

Just use another address for that site until they get it fixed.

I've launched a new faucet today.

Legendary Faucet - Free Bitcoins For Everyone!.

Could it go on the list?

Thanks for the submission. I will check it out.

...

When I tried it out just now in Firefox, I input a BTC address and filled out the captcha and when I click on the 'submit' button it takes me to a page that says only: Not Found

When I tried it in Google Chrome it worked ( or at least it said it worked and sent some BTC ).  Will the payout be within 24hrs or how do you do payouts?

I've just tried it out in Firefox and it works fine. So not too sure what happened. What OS and FF version are you using?

Payouts happen at 00:00 GMT. I send the request to pay from another server, which means that the payout is not controlled on the site you visit.

It is paying out at the moment, I've been checking the payouts each day. I have also during testing of additional features actually paid out more often that 24 hours as I've needed to submit the payouts to be sure.

They are now back to 24 hours, unless I really need to push a change.

Still not seeing any payouts to any of my submissions...

So is this some kind of scam site or has anyone got any payments from this faucet?

Definitely not a scam. It's an open source project, you can view it on Github also the address is paying out you can see them on blockchain.info.

If you want to send me the address you entered, I can check the database to see if it is recorded.

That isn't a very big list of addresses you have paid to. You definitely aren't paying out to all submissions. I have tried at least 3 different addresses now and still have not seen a payment.

Ya, sure...  I send you my address and then I start getting payments to it... and than I am happy and put you on the list...   Wink

Forget it... You need to pay out to 'all' submissions.

I guess I can't help then. I'm sorry that you feel I am trying to defraud the community. I don't really see what I would have to gain.

I've checked the database and the addresses that have been saved have all been paid out. I'm going to deploy another build to a QA server and do some further testing. If you have any experience of Ruby, please feel free to help.

I didn't say you were trying to defraud anyone. This is a question -> "So is this some kind of scam site or has anyone got any payments from this faucet?"

I will give you one address I tried a couple days ago:
https://blockchain.info/address/19qvaf2afjvv43VAbtTduuLsGjh26WKFKv

As you can see there has not been a payment made to it.  I tried it again but your form says "Your Bitcoin address has already been used", so it acknowledges the submission but hasn't paid out within the time you specify; one day.

As I mentioned I have tried other addresses, and I always check to see if the 'current faucet balance' is non-zero.

Feel free to re-submit your site if you get it fixed.

For those who were/are interested in what had become of the original Bitcoin faucet:

After talking with a few groups of people, I decided a good use of Bitcoin Faucet funds would be compensating miners who had blocks that were orphaned in last week's Bit Chain Fork.

This is a one-time thing-- don't expect orphaned blocks in the future to be compensated! It is just a coincidence that I haven't had time to fix the Faucet, and have a bunch of coins waiting to be given away.

Transaction id paying the to the addresses in the coinbases of the orphaned blocks: c931f1aa9f0d211dca085342ec472e77b538b55980a2c7b0ff9fab9a20a9acd2
