Hey, how long to generate the address 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE? More than a millenium? Yes. More time than earth will support life.

I have old mining hardwares with good processor and want to try What softwares I need to use? the answer is vanitygen. you can find binaries or can compile yourself here (my suggestion is compiling yourself since that's a address generator thing, you shouldn't trust binaries) a friendly reminder though, more personalized chars means more CPU time. examples like 1111111111111111111114oLvT2 is just impossible for the current hashing techniques.

I am starting a list of the most bizarre / improbable addresses found in the blockchain.
Any particular address you listed as as probable as any other one. The bizarreness is in our heads. And yet, the bizarreness which is in our heads is real for us. I think this is quite a fun thread and I'm glad to have come across it. Collisions between random bitcoin addresses and the namespaces/concepts we humans use indeed notable no matter if the math says "meh, whatever".

Hey, how long to generate the address 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE? More than a millenium? Yes. More time than earth will support life. That's not entirely true as address generation is random and it is probability based. In all likelihood it will take forever but there is an ever-so-miniscule chance it could be generated on the first try. Don't bet the moon on it though.

If you want to beat that, go a-i and get it in the block chain. Thanks for answers before, got it working and find some nice address How I can add that to blockchain so I can use it from my wallet like blockhain.info ?

It's simple import the private keys on Blockchain.info and then send the funds to that address and start using it. Just keep your private keys somewhere safe in USB device or CD etc... Your private keys are safe until your PC gets infected with virus.

Really funny to see there are a lot of people sending bitcoins to these addresses. Actually, at some point, some anti-bitcoiner or another was leading a campaign to send as many coins as he could to the eater address. There's a thread about it here somewhere. I recall others saying: well, since bitcoins are finite, the more you destroy, the more value is in the ones I don't destroy so "thanks". I'm sure you can turn that thread up if you search around. Pretty interesting. EDIT: haha, I just realized the link in (more info) was the exact thread I was talking about. Silly me.

Ha, I got totally confused by this one. I thought you were trying to hide the address but showing the private key. I was like "wtf, doesn't he know that the address is derivable from the private key?" I dropped the private key into ku ( https://github.com/richardkiss/pycoin) and what do I see: Bitcoin address : 12NugbnkyENs8iUEW5TzbzVZHAyvgY6LnS Bitcoin address uncompressed : 1xxxxxQkSqe6x1EnkG66ayMavz2cYV4zA
Lol at me and a really fun address. Now I'm wondering who's found the address with the most leading xs.
