i would have used a virtual CC. this way i can give them legitimate billing information without giving up my personal information. i would be pissed too if i paid for something and then had it taken away months later. especially if i was trying to run a business. im not really defending him i was just saying i dont think he did this on purpose. he just wanted to make a buck and i can relate to that. why wont the domain provider let you update the payment and ownership information?

We did update the owner information.  The domain registrar reverted the information to the original owner and refuses to allow us to pay for it or switch it back over into our names because the original owners information was fraudulent.  Basically it seems like they've just locked it down and there's not much we can do about it.

that does suck. i would think all they care about is getting paid. does fatigue still technically own the domain? did he try to contact them and explain the situation?

Fatigue never contacted them in the first place, as far as I can tell.  He obtained the domain originally (for the purpose of selling it immediately to me) through a Google small business promotion for free.  Even though he got it for free, he apparently used false/bad credit card information and didn't bother to tell me when he sold it to me literally the next day.  So, I apologize if it seems a bit harsh, but I just don't see how any of it could be 'accidental'.

did he use fake name or just fake CC information? if he used his real name he might still own it. maybe they will deal with him if he calls. if he used a fake name wouldnt that mean the domain becomes available for sale again?

Haha, he used a fake name.  Unless of course, Fatigue really *is* Jackie Chan.  They've told us the domain is not for sale, at least not at this point.

If they are refusing to unlock it and sell it to you (doesn't make sense for them to keep it if it was fraudulently registered), might want to look into filing a domain name dispute if it's cheap enough, or tell the registrar that you're ready to file if they continue being assholes.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

if you really want it fight for it. if nobody owns it you should be able to purchase it.

We're still going to try to get it back.  It's just frustrating because there was zero reason for any of it to happen in the first place.  Fatigue *could* have just been a decent human being and said up front that he had done this and given us a chance to fix/change it before all this happened.

it sounds like you had control of the site for a few months before billing became an issue. why didnt you update all the billing information the day you bought it from him?

We did.  All the info was reverted back by the domain registrar when they discovered it was originally registered fraudulently.  We had control of the site for exactly 40 days.

We paid .5 btc to Fatigue for it but we have had a lot more than that in lost revenue because of all this.

i believe you. lost revenue sucks. i can respect fatigues hussle but seeing all the stress this caused for 0.5 BTC seems silly. he should of been cool about it and let you have it without trying to scoop it up and tax you for it.
