yeah, it is great. one question though, what is your power cost?

with my power cost ($0.105/kwh) and current btc prices I just cannot justify running a large mining operation even with some space/power available.
In fact, i reduced my activity as we are at 80F right now and heating savings are not relevant.

You and I have the same power costs.  I'm also at 10.5 cents per kWH here in Alabama.  I'm still making money with 44.8 TH/s [All SP20's are under clocked].  I could have 48.5 TH/s easily right now but I'm keeping the SP20's close to the same efficiency as my six (6) S5's I just got in yesterday.  You do not see them in the picture.

The main reason I'm continuing to add rigs regardless is because I'm planning to move to Washington State the last quarter of this year to have access to 3.2 cents per kWH after demand charges and fees.  That will be a considerable drop in power costs for me and also help me survive the block halving much easier with less stress.  This is why I'm also holding on to my S3's.  As they can still make me a decent amount of money in Washington State with much lower power costs.  I'm keeping them running as long as I still have power available to run them. They have already made ROI (paid for themselves) except for two of them.

Sorry a little slow getting back.  I've been out of the loop all day today.  I've been out of town at my grandfather's funeral.  I did get to see cousins I had not seen in years from Texas.  I did enjoy that!

Thanks again for the props, Sir!

Yes, 10.5 cents per kWH is steep compared to Washington State.

At present:

6   - S5’s @ 600 watts each = 3,600 watts @ 1,150 GH/s each on average = 6,900 GH/s
18 - S3’s @ 370 watts each = 6,660 watts @ 465 GH/s each on average = 8,370 GH/s
5   - S4’s @ 1270 watts each = 6,350 watts @ 2,040 GH/s each on average = 10,200 GH/s
15 - SP20’s @ 740 watts each = 11,100 watts @ 1310 GH/s each on average = 19,650 GH/s
Total hash and watts = 45,120 GH/s @ 27,710 watts [Average of .61414 watts per GH/s]

30 inch 7,800 CFM exhaust fan @ 300 watts
2  - 20 inch box fans at 300 watts combined
1  - 16 inch oscillating fan @ 120 watts
1   - 48 port switch @ 40 watts
Total watts of peripherals = 760 watts

Total system watts with peripherals = 28,470 watts @ 10.5 cents per kWH 24/7 for 30.416667 days in one month = $2,008.84

Cost Per Hour:   $2.989350
Cost Per Day:   $71.744400
Cost Per Week:   $502.211
Cost Per Month:   $2,008.84
Cost Per Year:   $26,114.96

45,120 GH/s @ present difficulty of 46,717,549,644

BTC per hour:     0.02024
BTC per day:       0.4858
BTC per week:     3.401
BTC per month:  14.58

With BTC @ $250.00 = $3,645.00 in one month - $2008.84 power costs = $1,636.16 in one month @ present difficulty
With BTC @ $260.00 = $3,791.00 in one month - $2008.84 power costs = $1,782.16 in one month @ present difficulty
With BTC @ $270.00 = $3,937.00 in one month - $2008.84 power costs = $1,928.16 in one month @ present difficulty
With BTC @ $295.00 = $4,301.00 in one month - $2008.84 power costs = $2,292.16 in one month @ present difficulty

I mentioned the price of BTC @ $295.00 because that helped me buy six S5's after power costs this month.  I just got them going Thursday, March 26.  I'm using the profit after power costs to add more hash rate every month.

I really don't care about how much profit is made at the moment.  I'm only focusing on adding hash power to take with me to Washington State where the power is much cheaper.  For example:  With the same hash rate in Washington State @ 3.4 cents per kWH, the power costs come out to the following:

Total system watts with peripherals = 28,470 watts @ 3.4 cents per kWH 24/7 for 30.416667 days in one month = $650.48

That means you would add $1,358.36 to my profits after power costs [with my present hash rate] for the numbers mentioned above.  For instance; with BTC @ $250.00 = $3,645.00 in one month - $650.48 power costs = $2,994.52 in Washington State versus $1,636.16 in Alabama.  That's almost twice as much profit!  So, when the blocks cut in half, you see how it would be less stressful in Washington State.

I'm fairly certain this was "made up."

It was speculation.  So far there are NO public specs of their next gen or even next miners.

Well, considering the current BTC price, I really do not see where do they find sufficient profit margin to develop new stuff.

It is true BTC is not helping the cause, if it was still 1k each we chances are would see more quick movement.  But even at low price there are still some in the mining arms race.

I don't see them rushing to do next get.  But I think they will make it on a few of the companies.   If you think about it chances are they can sell off old gear first there is some cash.  Then they save around 1/2 on electricity bill or get possibly 1/2 more hash.  Between those two the first company to do it chances are will do pretty good.

I see your point but this race s been slowing down big time. First, there s the limit on efficiency and this decreasing price does not help. So it s basically the low of diminishing resources, every new improvement brings less and less in terms of profitability.

A more power efficient miner brings more profitability.  If one is spending less money on power, that makes up for the lower price of BTC.  This is easy to see and understand.

Batch 5 of the S5' is sold out now.  It will be interesting to see what happens.  Seems like we will see something happening soon.

There are two possible scenarios here.

1) Bitmain sells out used S5s from their own farm and makes an upgrade with some devices based on some next chip (as I mentioned before somewhere in this forum, many of Russian bitcoiners receive used S5s) and after their upgrade we will probably see S6, S7 or whatever.

2) Bitmain decided to go out of business and sells out their facilities (all that used S5 buyers receive) and we will not see any new hardware from them. They stopped even to promise that "upgrade for S2 will be available soon". They keep silence about S6 also.

Any comments?..

number 1 seems like the plan, unless they know more about future and take actions about it

for number 2: u mean going b2b, or only mining for themselves? or a combination of them
or liquidating the business? Shocked
