virtual interface, so it has all the port availabe (besides ssh)
iptables in the kernel as usual, altough a FW cant restrict me from listening on a interface, so dosnt matter.

EDIT: still, all this dosnt matter since bbqcoind NEVER does the bind() call for the RPC port.

Well done on your first block. I will send you a tip now, how does 500 BBQcoin sound?

This coin is a lot of fun and can be much more than it already is.

In CoffeeMUD, it turns out that cooked food does not spoil, so characters who hunt, even just kill critters for the experience, basically BBQ the meat to turn it into a lasting resource. This not only stops them from getting sick eating rotten meat themselves, or having to waste meat by just throwing it away when it smells bad and hunting fresh meat again.

So maybe this coin would be just the right coin for such players to favour. Smiley

Maybe even set a standard price list, so many for snake steak, so many for dragon steak and so on, depending on how regular a market they can make for their steaks...

Well actually, to really make a decent market you need populations that for whatever reason do not hunt, gather, or farm their own food.

So far the Brits and Canucks have been getting magic berries from the Faery Fellowship, which act as healing berries as well as nutritious food, so both of them and the Faery actually have piles of steaks lying around that they never eat.

Being basically rich they prefer the berries over using up their number of items of carrying capacity carrying healing items and food items as separate items.

Meanwhile the Drow and Duergar live in caves, where foraging only finds one type of food, mushrooms, which they find convenient because their automatic "eat when hungry" triggers in their clients thus know what type of item to eat, (CoffeeMUD has no generic word, it seems, for "anything that is edible" so triggers need to know exactly what it is that the character should try to eat.)

Thus so far there is not yet a population really that one could become a steady supplier of steak to.

The search always continues though for other free open source games with which to open trade routes. Smiley

Well I hope you really mean that, rather than meaning a testnet coin.

The main reason game players did not find testnet coins suitable for their fun was restarts. Its not fun to lose all your hard-earned fun!

(Someone was on IRC was suggesting all the months that CPU miners have had to mine in peace without GPU bullies grabbing all the coins should lose all their hard CPUd coins by just restarting the chain so the GPU folk could grab them all right from the get-go.)

No I like fun coins.. We are going to start using them for our LAN games to keep track of spending on special items and overall gold earnings in warcraft 3 games. I love it! But yes I really wouldnt like resets constantly as that would mess up our stats.

This is what I have been saying all the time on the exchange chatbox. We need a currency that has no external value other than itself and that is what BBQcoin is.

I am going to add a developers forum to the website I am developing so decisions like this can carry own and we can do one big brain storm.

Would people be interested in that? It will reduce any trolling that could happen along the way.

Sorted. I am just configuring the main site now and adding information and then will work on the forum.

I do need to have more contact with the Dev's though, just so I could find out the direction they are taking etc.

Just a question: Is there any alive repository of the BBQCoin client?
You know, I needed to search a lot in this topic to find out the WIndows Binaries and no repository.

Because of the long period during which GPU miners were off doing other things, leaving BBQcoin to CPU miners, this coin is one that quite a few players have been able to accumulate.

What we have been looking into is ways in which CPU mining can still be fun, something that GPU miners cannot do.

The DevTome wiki's page about CPU mining is where I have been writing up some of the findings-so-far.

Basically the current approach is kind of indirect mining: players have plenty of BBQcoin to play with, in fact some also have quite a bit of GRouPcoin too, so we are trying to put together economies whereby CPUs can earn such coins by mining stone and metals to trade for such coins, foraging for fruit and vegetables and such to trade for such coins, digging up gems to trade for such coins and so on.

Players who for whatever reason prefer to purchase the products of other character's labour than to keep their own characters busily at work obtaining such products by their own labour, and players who despite having all their own characters working working working all the time, can use cryptocoins to motivate the labour of others.

Of course that tended not to be more lucrative (in terms of how much stone, metal, vegetables, gemstones or whatever a given CPU could buy) than mining cryptocoins directly back when all the GPU miners were off doing other things, but if the GPU miners are coming back to mine the actual coins, CPUs might find they get their characters more gear resources etc soon by just getting in there and digging those gems or mining that metal or foraging for fruit or whatever occupation it is that most directly gets them the "stuff" they are after than mining cryptocoins to buy the stuff will as cryptocoin difficulty climbs.

Hi,

I am really happy of how this is going.
I made the #bbqcoin IRC channel up. It's on freenode.
I don't have any sources here. I can rebuild the repo on GitHub if someone have them and can maintain it. (I don't know coding.)

And, I am really happy that Greedi have left crypto coins. Please, tell me that Luke-Jr did this too. (He killed BBQCoin.)

Thanks for your support, and see you soon on the IRC channel!

Andy "Cubox" Pilate.

so he will happily rebuild the repo in github for us.. and i'd love to add it to my repo collection once it avaliable and could give out access to push pull requests if needs be? though if someone else want to take main responsibility for it that cool to
