I'm curious what personality types (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) are common among the Bitcoin community.

I am ISFJ. (http://www.personalitypage.com/ISFJ.html)

I am also curious in which are the most common pairs of personality types among 'best friends' (or spouses). For example, my best friend is ENTP.

ENTP

You should have a poll.

The only thing is I really people to post their best friend's too (which would lead to too many options), and then I might do a table.

This was discussed a while back in this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47053.0

You'll find the types for several forum members (including myself) there.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.

ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)

Is there an easy (Read: free) way to find out? The website linked in the OP charges money to run the test.

INTP.

I took stats among Ron Paul people online for a few years, and there was also a large # of INTPs and INTJs, which are generally pretty uncommon.

There was an older one done up here (2007-2008):

I also did some checking on 4chan, but couldn't get enough responses, though the few who did reply also had an unusual tendency to be INTJ. There could be some link there -- perhaps libertarians tend to be INTx, or people who are on forums (outside of 4chan and RPFs, I have not collected results), or it could just be that people who tend to take these tests are INTx.

In case you may be interested, I collected some other demographic stats from people on a Ron Paul forum. Sample size was typically between 50 and 250 except for many of the 2010-2011 results, which finished, but I lost the spreadsheet files and never felt bored enough to re-enter all the "completed" data -- sample size for that set is somewhere between 20-80 (I entered in data about halfway through the collection start and end date), depending on the particular question.

I'm sure there is, but I can't vouch for how accurate they are. I didn't take the test in the OP link, I took it a long time ago in high school as part of a college service provided to all the students (the school paid for it). Does anyone else know of a good, free test?

Kluge: Thanks for the awesome statistics. I'm guessing ISFJs (me) are an extremely small minority?

INT*

I know people on here would label me INTJ without second thought, but actually there are situations in which I switch to INTP.

People find that confusing, but I can't help it. Huh

Those Ron Paul statistics look very extreme. But then again, it might be a defining property of an INTJ to go on online boards and argue for something not-so-mainstream. Or... for whatever beliefs. I shouldn't be the one to talk though. Lips sealed

Oh -- yes, "ISFJ" was an option on the original poll. I forgot to mention that I removed a few results with consistently marginal numbers, ISFJ being one of them, though it's the most common type among the general US population. There was also some name-changing and consolidation to make the chart more readable. For example, I did not ask people if they were spics. :p

Bumping this topic because it is very interesting. The rarest personality type in the general population is by far the most common one in online communities (see Kluge's post above). I have the feeling if we research this specifically on this forum the numbers will be even higher.

I'm also a very clear INTJ btw.

This needs a poll.

Many years ago I was tested, but personalities do mature and change.

Is there a way to add a poll to this topic or do I need to create a new poll topic?
