I'm working on building BitPhone.net a BitCoin Payphone.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a "phone coin" like Voircoin.  This seems to complicate things too much.  Why not just use Bitcoin to pay for the calls?  Why create a new crypto around it?

why?

because its the perfect tech to set up a p2p telco platform.  what good is a bitcoin phone if you are just using bitcoin to buy into a centralized server?

Because you have to to call phones..  Sure P2P would work better but requires both parties have a browser.  ie skype..
You can't use Skype like a payphone, you have to register and have a balance to call phones..
I'm not competing with P2P, just letting you use Bitcoin to call phones..

How is a coin a telco platform ?

hmm isnt it a telco if you have your own number which other networks can call or text or vice versa. then your coins will be your balance to use if you want to call or text

Well the numbers are still owned by carriers, P2P can give you a sip address, ie user@bitphone.net you can receive P2P calls with.  To get a phone number though you have to rent or purchase one from a carrier or phone number vendor.  They still own the numbers, you are just renting it.  They route all the calls to your number / device.  (ie all the phone numbers are owned by these entities, they have blocks of them they can manage)  Sure, the future is sip phones everywhere, but phone numbers are here to stay for awhile..

http://www.viorcoin.com/index.html simply looks like a coin.?  I don't see anything but the promise of a phone system?

you dont see the potential of having the cheapest rate of calls by using vior coins? in my country it costs over 20 cents to call a landline or cellphone number which is expensive compared to vior coins. if this get adapted by many users, it might rise the value significantly.

Well, the cheapest rates are free.  ie, P2P..  Any call to a phone number has a xxx/minute charge though.  This is normally determined by the carrier, you can't circumvent this with a coin.

I see you can do P2P calls with your wallet with Viorcoin.  Forwarding to your cell will burn minutes..
I'd rather keep my money in Bitcoin rather than another Crypto-coin

Do any of them have much value left?  Bitcoin at least is popular and has retained its value better than most..

I'm just burnt out on a new coin for everything, they really have no value, just utility.
Why need another coin to simply use the utility bitcoin already provides?

if every people had that kind of mentality advancement would not exist.

its like why start at&t. we already have verizon. (dont know which came first)

of course people want to compete and make something better out of the original.
You see bitcoin is a cryptocoin. it has no real world usage. the only thing why it has value because it was the first alt to fiat.
you see anon transactions benefits certain people so btc is here to stay.

now to create a successful altcoin it must have real world usage. im not saying only vior there are other cryptos which have real world usage.
anon coins dont have much of a chance cause you aint gonna beat btc. the way to have a space in altworld is for coin users to have a real use of your coins.

now if vior become close to skype or even just get quarter of skype users and use vior coins to call landline and cellphone numbers instead of skype credits.
can you even think how much vior will cost?

Just as BTC in certain avenues is changing the World so will many alt coins in their own way.
Sure some or many avenues of the tech brought by alt coins can and will benefit Bitcoin and even
some of the tech could be applied to Bitcoin.

The Alt Coins are technology incubators and provide a means of funding that work and research
whether an IPO, ICO or otherwise.
To deny this fact is/shows _____________,___________,_____________?...
You can fill in the blanks...

Either way, to be bringing up this argument by a newly created nick on the competitions thread
is/shows ____________,__________________,_____________?...
You can fill in the blanks.

Its just the competition between different coins ie btc/vior for getting the cheapest rate for calling.
I dont see the problem, the competition is always good, makes to improve.
Its the same i would like to ask you, why a btc service if in the near f uture you arent able to beat vior rates?

I guess I don't agree with the Alt-Coin world..  Bitcoin is here to stay, but why do we want/need 100 different coins?

You still get the advantages or crypto by just using Bitcoin.

Will i have to wait 15 min for a confirmation before being able to call?
If so, vior will bring faster calling times. Or will it be instantly?
If you dont believe in alt-coin world, better research a bit about alts, which may change your mind

Well I'd need at least 1 confirmation to use the payphone.  Of course if your registered and have a balance it wont matter.

Every Alt I have seen changes value to quickly, price instability is too high.  One day you have $100, next day you have $1.  Anything with that kind of volatility will never be adopted.

Yes, volatility is hard to take on, but i suposse something can be done within the time. Well not just alt, btc volatility is high also. I would like to know what coins did drop its value by 100 times in a day?

I don't care about the volatility, I'm not holding much Bitcoin.  I use it because it enables micro-payments, perfect for a payphone!

Then why do you talk about price instability if you don't care about volatility.
