Hi fellow miners,

I'm auctioning here 9 Bitmain S2 miners.

Auction ends Friday, February 5th at midnight 12:00 am UTC.

I'd like to sell them as a lot but I reserve the right to sell individual units if I receive good offers.

All units have been hosted at Waveform Technology in Troy, Michigan since they were bought.

Michigan-colocation (as they're also known here) offers an astounding service but alas at current BTC price/difficulty ratio units cannot be hosted there anymore.

So, if you happen to live in an area with cheap electricity this offer is for you.

5 units are hashing at full 1TH/s while 4 are hashing between 800 and 900 GH/s (see below for speeds).

Shipping will have to be organized with Michigan-colocation and paid by buyer (I don't know if units can be collected at Michigan-colo's facility, but I can ask if there is some real interest).

Escrow by some reputable member of this forum welcome, buyer pays escrow fees, otherwise you pay me and I will authorize Michigan-colo to ship the units.

Please post your offers in this thread if possible, PMs will be answered in around 24 hours.

Happy auction!

spiccioli.

ps.  If you want to write me, please keep in mind that I live in GMT+1.

February 4th, 2015

My units were hashing on two proxies (slush's proxy code) so that I could switch pool with a single change and have some redundancy.

I've plotted their real speed from Jan 1st this year to Jan 15th when they were powered off, these two graphs are made counting accepted shares only, so they show the real speed of the units as seen by the pool.

I have to correct my previous statement that 5 units are able to reach 1TH, just 3 are able to reach a full TH, 2 are at 900 GH and the rest at 800-850 GH, I'm sorry for this error.

In any case, considering current bids, they're still a steal.

First proxy with five units

Second proxy with four

Regards.

spiccioli

February 4th, 2015 - some answers from Michigan colo

I've just received an email from Michigan colo with some answers to shipping costs and local pickup:

  • collection at their facility is an option
  • there is no extra charge for handling, they charge 7 USD to schedule a pickup at their facility
  • typical costs for shipping in the USA are around 50 USD/box since they have discounted rates from UPS

February 5th, 2015

Clarified auction's end, it is going to end today at 12:00:00 (noon) UTC, see my last post.

Sorry for any confusion.

fair price for 1TH/1KW is about $180/ea  (since the S5 is 1.2TH/0.6kW for $370)
fair price for 1050W GOLD PSU is about $90/ea

I would be interested in a few units shipping to either Toronto, Canada or Winnipeg, Canada depending what the shipping would look like. Could offer $1100 shipped for 5 units

Any estimate for shipping all of them within the USA?

Hi MCHouston,

I've used Amazon's declared dimensions and weight

http://www.amazon.com/Bitmain-AntMiner-1000-SHA-256-Miner/dp/B00KH9339O

and put them inside UPS calculator and for shipping from Troy, MI to 90008 Los Angeles, CA (just a random destination not too close to Troy, I don't know where ZIP 90008 ends up) I get a shipping cost range, for one unit, which goes from 322 USD for next day in the morning to 72 for a ground expedition lasting 4 days.

Just to give you an idea, hope this helps.

klondike_bar,

they come with their stock PSU, I'm not sure that it is GOLD rated.

Shipping to TORONTO, M5A9Z9 CANADA (a random zip) costs around 70 usd with UPS Standard and takes 4 days.

Well, at your previous offer of 1100 USD for 5 units shipping costs could have been included, but at current 0.35 BTC shipping is, as I wrote in first message, to be agreed upon with Michigan-colocation and paid to them.

Your terms on shipping are really killing this.  Since we have no idea if the data center is going to charge extra for handling, let us use our own labels, or if they even have a discount rate.

But what the hell

I will offer 9@.15BTC each

looking up some basic rates it seems like at 18"x18"x7" and 38lbs each (can someone confirm - sounds correct) its about $600 to ship 5 of them with DHL to Toronto, Canada. If the weight is 20lbs that price is closer to $400. Its possible other couriers can do it for cheaper (USPS can go to around $100/unit)

the shipping price is an obvious issue - if you can find a way to ship it cheaper than $100/unit I will bid 0.20BTC each and cover the shipping

IME they are slightly louder, but not by much. it used 140mm fans so its a dull whoosh rather than a high pitched noise. Probably ~20% more audible, but only 10% more annoying

18x18x7 is the same dimension I saw on Amazon's site, even weight is the same.

I have to ask Michigan-colo if they still have original boxes, though.

I don't think weight can be as low as 20lbs, from dogie's test they are 18kg which should be around 39.7 lbs

New bid:

I cover the shipping to canada (and the duties on arrival) at the (approximate) rate you provided on all the below bids:

3x1.0TH @ 0.20BTC ea
2x0.9TH @ 0.17BTC ea
2x0.8TH @ 0.16BTC ea

I would suggest bidding go in this format, otherwise highest bids and down get the miners in order of performance.

Shipping to Canada is crazy expensive but using 48617 sample zip code to my address in Canada.

18x18x7, 40lb is $86.05 CAD = ~ 69 USD

So i'll bid

1X1.0TH @ 0.30 BTC

or

1X0.9TH @ 0.27 BTC

or

1X0.8TH @ 0.25 BTC

I just need 1 unit because I have no idea how loud these things will be in my apartment.

I wish. I am way in the far west coast in Alberta.

Maybe if you buy more then one unit you can have mine shipped to you and then forward one to Alberta.  We can split the shipping and customs differences.

Having an Antminer S1 shipped across Canada is around $20 or so. So maybe this S2 might not be much more.

unfortunately it would be really expensive. itd cost about the same to send it to me, and then another $50 to ship it several provinces over

Hi,

it seems the way I've phrased auction's end is prone to misunderstandings.

I meant this to end tonight, Jan 5th, at midnight UTC (entering Friday morning).

But having written 12 am it sounds like auction is already ended.

So, I've decided to end it midway, today at noon ( 12:00:00 UTC in 24 hours format ), if someone posts a bid between 11:55:00 and 12:00:00 UTC it extends auction by 5 more minutes.

I hope this does not make anyone angry.

my fault I'm not used to think in 12 hours clocks, I'm sorry.

I originally wrote Friday, Jan Feb 5th at 12:00 am meaning the midnight of Jan Feb 5th going into Jan Feb 6th (Friday).

But then I've found out that for people used to 12 hour clocks my auction's end was at the beginning of Jan Feb 5th and not at the end of the day.

So I've decided to end it between the beginning of Jan Feb 5th and the end of the same day, which is Jan Feb 5th at noon 12:00:00 UTC (plus any extension if there are late bids).

I hope it is more clear now.

From your post timestamp, five seconds. Yes, the auction is over now. No one bid in the last five minutes. Congrats to the winner.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

So you changed the end of the auction last minute to be earlier while I was asleep?  I think you kind of screwed yourself as I probably wasn't the only one who was going to wait until near the end to place a final bid...

I'll take however many units I managed to get at .16 though.

EDIT: and if anyone backs out of theirs, I'll take more at .2 as well.

Honestly I don't even know if they will sell them that cheap. I bid 0.30BTC for one but everybody else bid less than 0.20BTC, they might not want to sell that cheap. Considering these things were like $4000 when new.

Sure, this whole time zone thing completely blew up in my face.

Anyway, there are valid bids for all the units, I'll post results in a couple of hours as soon as I'm back home.

If i actually had the leading bids on 7 units, I'd be happy to transfer 2 of them to you - 5 units was my target (I had expected a bit more price war up to 0.25-0.3/unit by the auction end), and i only have so much BTC to cover shipping.

Ok,

no winning bid for the whole lot, all bids for the whole lot are way lower than bids for some units, so we have this:

These are the bids and the units (and I hope I've not made errors here as I did with time zones ...)

I'm not sure about klondike_bar since he put lower bids after a while, so if his higher bid is still valid, he won the first 4 units, followed by adaseb with 2 and blackheart13 with 3.

Otherwise, we have adaseb with 2 units, blackheart13 with 4, adaseb again with 1 and klondike_bar with 2.

adaseb bids have an OR between them,  I'm not sure he wants just one for each speed or 1 overall, in which case things change again and we have adaseb with 1 unit, blackheart13 with 4, klondike_bar with 3 at .20 and 1 at .17

Please klondike_bar and adaseb tell me what is your intention.

As soon as we know klondike_bar's and adaseb's answer I'll ask winners to send me a private message with Name and Surname, so that I can forward it to Michigan colo with the number of units won (faster units will go to higher bidders).

I'll then send you, through a PM message, a bitcoin address where you can pay me, after I get your payment I'll authorize Michigan colo to ship the units.

Thanks.

spiccioli

looking at the list, my understanding is that the winning bids are based from the bottom upwards, something like this (my first skim of the list to try and cluster bids by user and desired unit speed):

adaseb 2@0.27 (specified for 1TH units)
blackheart 4@0.25
adaseb 1@0.25 (specified for <1TH units)
klondike 3@0.20 (specified for 1TH units)
klondike 2@0.17 (for <1TH units)
quakefiend 5@0.16

going back over that in a bit more detail to try and sort out the different speeds

1TH units (3 available)                    900GH units (2 available)                         800-850GH units (4 available)
adaseb 2@0.26                            blackheart 2@0.25                                        adaseb 1@0.25
blackheart 1@0.25                                                                                        blackheart 1@0.25
                                                                                                                  klondike 2@0.17

if the "dutch auction" style is used, the list likely simplifies as:
1TH units (3 available)                    900GH units (2 available)                         800-850GH units (4 available)
adaseb 2@0.23                            blackheart 2@0.21                                        adaseb 1@0.19
blackheart 1@0.22                                                                                        blackheart 1@0.18
                                                                                                                  klondike 2@0.17

obviously things are complicated slightly by the fact that the auction was effectively 3 different categories

ps: my bid of 0.35/ea was if shipping was included. obviously its not so im paying the shipping atop my bid prices.

That's why I wanted to sell them as a lot. Wink

But since we're selling them as single units we can also say:

adaseb 3@.273  (.3+.27+.25)/3
blackheart 4@.25
klondike_bar 2@.20

It means adaseb gest the three fastest units (and pays a little more to have them)
blackheart the following 4 (2 at 900GH,  1 at 850 GH and 1 at 800 GH)
klondike_bar the two at 800GH

but let's be honest, where can you buy a 800GH unit for 44 USD?

Guys, for me it is the same, I won't retire on a tropical island after this auction, so, please reach an agreement between you and let me know.

Yeah I'd say I'm in for the same thing.  Heck I'd have done 0.37-0.4BTC for a 1TH one (not knowing shipping is always hard, an originating zip and shipping weight is always nice!).

But I've witnessed a lot of auctions on this forum, and they rarely go as planned.  Not really the best medium or framework for such an endeavor.

As things can go south fast if an "auction injustice" is perceived by any non-winners, best of luck to spiccioli on figuring this all out!  Put some hard guidelines out there how you will proceed and include deadlines if buyers don't come though, and stick to it!  All you can really do.

I'm trying to be as fair as I can.

It is difficult though because of language barriers and time-zones.

I've never made a world-wide auction, even the idea of "today" has to be clearly defined which is something you don't think about until after you realize that "today" means nothing on global scale.

Hello

Sorry about the confusion but I only wanted to buy 1 unit. Because I never had these miners before and have no idea how loud they are.

I put a max bid per category

Quote
1X1.0TH @ 0.30 BTC

or

1X0.9TH @ 0.27 BTC

or

1X0.8TH @ 0.25 BTC

So if I bid the highest for the 1.0TH miner I would pay 0.30 BTC, if I won that then the other 2 would go to someone else.

Sorry about the confusion.

The correct order seems to be more like

Quote
adaseb 1 0.30
blackheart13 4 0.25
klondike_bar 3 0.20
klondike_bar 2 0.17
quakefiend420 5 0.16
klondike_bar 2 0.16
mchouston 9 0.15
btcshiner 9 0.13
blazedout419 9 0.12
crowetic 9 0.11

done. Im sending a PM now to see what we can do about shipping cost/method

So we have:

- klondike_bar bid 4@.35 as void since it included shipping, which cannot be included in such a low bid

- adaseb, two out of three bids void, he takes just one 1TH unit at .30 (please adaseb PM me you name surname and address)
- blackheart13 4 at .25 (please blackheart13 confirm to us you still want your 4 units)
- klondike_bar wants 2 800 GH units at .20 (whithout shipping)

Let's see what blackheart13 decides before letting anyone step in and/or going down the list.

Regards.

For everybody that won. Are you guys going escrow or no? This is my first time actually buying anything over the internet. Don't know the best way to handle the deal?

In my opinion: escrow.

Even though spiccioli is a legendary member, I believe escrow should always be used.

for a fairly small price like this i dont think escrow is reall required (I generally reserve it for users with <100 posts or when dealing with >1BTC)

I am not using escrow for myself, but would be happy to act as escrow agent to any other users who are deadset on it. Id ask 0.015BTC/unit as my fee, and would release payment to spiccoli once tracking shows you received the item.

sp20 will go down to 10$ but s2 will not because of the psu Wink

Can the PSU be even used as a PSU with a computer? Or is it a special PSU with only +12V outputs.

it should be a 1050W gold ATX raidmax PSU.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

I think they had both but when you are done with mining can you simply hook it up to a computer or were the molex, sata, ATX plugs all removed?

Seems like it would make a pretty good power supply one day. Platinum rated

Hi guys,

just a quick update, things are starting to roll, I've already got blackheart13's payment.

Quakefiend420 will probably use an escrow.

I'll contact Michigan colo to give them the list of the units to ship to each one of you in the afternoon (my time).

Best regards.

my mistake - it is an enermax.
as far as i recall its a regular ATX PSU but a lot of the peripheral cables are not included. It uses 4 modular PCIe connectors, and there is a cluster of cables that are not modular (includes the 24pin, an 8pin, a pair of PCIe for sure, i dont know if theres any molex). Its gold-rated, not platinum-rated, btw

however, if you found a similar enermax modular PSU the cables would work with one-another.
