Yes, Bitcoin does need to have ATM machine around the whole world in order to grows into a much bigger users base. It is essential to attract people that doesn't know anything about bitcoin to take a look on how bitcoin actually works, I see it as a marketing strategy to make bitcoin into being more recognize by the world. And it also provides users with an alternative way to purchase bitcoin without the risk of getting scam by scammers.
yes its optional and not necessary. bitcoin is do not need for any ATM machine. because I think it is more easy to use your own online wallet as compare to ATM, because we have access to internet and having smartphone which we can use for getting access to our online wallet. I think online wallets at also giving your more security and no one can get access to your wallet so easily. therefore to me I think online wallet system is good for using bitcoin.

Does email need paper?
If you aren't going to print out what has been sent, then no it doesn't need papers!
Well, I really think that the Bitcoin and ATM debate is overstretched. Bitcoin transactions and transfers are conveniently made without one even leaving the comfort of one's home. I don't think the introduction of ATM will make any financial difference apart from the sight of the Bitcoin machines serving as a point of creating awareness and advertisement.

Bitcoin does not literally needs an ATM. However, having an ATM for Bitcoin would give convenience for its users. Just like banks across the world, do they need an ATM? No. ATMs are just made for convenience of the users and not to cope with their needs. That alone shall answer your concern, simple and without any complexities.
Exactly. Bitcoin ATMs are only needed for convenience of the users, so that they can convert Bitcoins to Cash whenever they want, instantly.

I do not think that an atm will be completely necessary but it would have nice benefits. I think it would attract more people if they knew that the money they earned from bitcoin could be used could be used online and also turned into fiat currency, I think that then people would be more interested in bitcoin. The question would be who would sponsor the bitcoin ATMS, since it would cost a lot of money to build, install and maintain these ATMs. Maybe get some bank to help with this, since then people would give bitcoin a go since it would be backed by some big bank. The problem with that though is that banks hate change, so it would be highly unlikely to get a sponsor for all of this. Good idea though, could really help grow bitcoin into a regular currency and attract some more attention to bitcoin .

Exactly. Bitcoin ATMs are only needed for convenience of the users, so that they can convert Bitcoins to Cash whenever they want, instantly. Exactly. For me it is okay if they will put Bitcoin Atm or not. The important thing is there are bitcoins. And if there would be ATM then maybe there would be fees on its transactions. And maybe that bitcoin atm should be design the same as ATM for cash so there would be no hassle.

Globally, it cannot be denied that the users of the bitcoin continues to increase, this makes transactions bitcoin increasingly massive and surely need an ATM so that transactions can be faster (without exchanger).

Bitcoin ATM's are a great way to enable us various ways to exchange USD and other currencies for BTC, it's true there are other cheaper ways, but it is way more to the demands for an anonymous non-exchanger based and in the same time with significantly less risk than Peer to Peer trades, which has a significant real life risk OR compromising anonymous nature by asking for ID like exchanges.

Bitcoin ATM will gave convenience for all of us because transaction will become much easier and more faster rather than creating cash out from third party exchanger. I believe soon it will happen in the whole wide world bitcoin becoming popular in every country that it emerge because of the high probable income year by year it goes up.

It gives convenience alright but when you look at it the exchange rate or their conversion rate is to unfavorable for you, which means you would get less then what your money is really worth. That is why you need to pick up a good wallet service provider in which they are the ones buying your Bitcoin through your wallet. With that being said I would prefer the wallet exchange rather than the ATM exchange.

ATM is a big thing when wanting to buy bitcoin, most of them the fee is %5 which is much cheaper than doing a deal on localbitcoins methods. The only thing hindering them less useful is how scarce they are available only in very few limited countries.. it will also be better if you can sell bitcoins for cash too.

Why do you need cash? Almost everything can be bought using credit cards. Easier to fill the balance of the credit cards with a home computer and to pay to her. You will drive all over town looking for an ATM? With the advent of smartphones even Fiat ATMs are no longer needed.

ATM is for convenience and perhaps anonymity, nothing more. The fees are sky high so people only really use them when they need something quick.

In my view bitcoin ATM will always help in making it more popular as people will come to know about it.

My answer to your question is "Yes" Because: 1. Bitcoin ATMs are a great face for the first time Bitcoin buyer all the way to the seasoned cypherpunks simply for their very familiar interface. 2. Bitcoin ATMs are without a doubt the easiest way that I have ever used to acquire bitcoin. 3. If you want to avoid bank accounts, the long waits and suspect claims put out by exchanges, the Bitcoin ATM is a great place to go. The near frictionless experience of buying through an ATM is one of it’s greatest features. 4. Some Bitcoin ATMs even offer the ability to print out a paper wallet and have your coins sent their for transfer to another wallet shortly thereafter. And because of the speed of ATMs, they offer a very tangible peace of mind, knowing that you aren’t waiting for your coins for 3-5 business days. 5. You will need cash to Buy bitcoin from your local ATM and nothing is more private than cash. 6. ATM might just be one of the best viable options for you since you don’t need much more than some cash and sometimes a cell phone number. 7. The ability to walk up to a machine with cash in hand and walk away seconds or minutes later with bitcoin is something that appeals to a rather large number of people because of it’s instant liquidity.

It's a good introduction to bitcoin for people who haven't heard about it yet. You can for example accompany a friend to one. If there were educational pamphlets nearby, it's even possible for the curious to just walk up to an ATM and start on their way into the crypto world.
I don't know how these ATMs would operate (there are none in my country) but if it does allow anonymously buying bitcoins, then that would be great. The way we buy bitcoins here, you have to go to a 7-11, or some remittance center, or bank. You'd still leave a trail. Not to mention the bought bitcoin ends up in an exchange, rather than your personal wallet.

First of all i'm suprised that this is an old thread created by op in 2012, when bitcoin was very young so op asked those who never used bitcoin ATM before about, does bitcoin really need an ATM? Well from my experience, we have 2 bitcoin ATMs here btw i don't think that we really need bitcoin ATM since you can buy bitcoin easily with your smartphone in a single click from your bedroom without going outside and with the cheaper price than bitcoin ATM charges. However this is gonna be an advertisment for the bitcoin itself, but as i can see no one cares i mean the common people ( our ATM is located in the mall ) i don't know maybe they are just too lazy to convert their fiat to the bitcoin or didn't know about bitcoin and what can they do with it, hoping this only happened here.

A lot of people need cash for various reasons. If they can get cash for bitcoin easily they'll hold more coin and be more likely to be willing to work or sell for it.
Yes the more people hold a cash by their hand the more interesting it brings to them to earn and saved bitcoin. Just like me i was motivate to work hard more for it to earn more bitcoin where i can convert into fiat. If bitcoin will have an atm then this would be good for us because we get it easily.

I've never used or needed to use a bitcoin ATM so for me personally, no I don't think bitcoin needs ATM's. The issue is for people who live in countries with restrictive or poor internet connection/availability, they will need ATM's.

Does email need paper?
Yes. Bitcoin is less reliant on ATMs than classic money, but like email and paper, there are many people who need it. If there is a market, it will be done. How is it necessary atm if the banking course until now still no one recognize as a legitimate transaction ??
