How long?
The bitcoin has yet not started to get well, you cannot expect it to die before all blocks have been mined and there will still be more transaction blocks to mine , so not going down for a while

How long can it hold its price?
It will always hold a price , the price might go down or up , but there will always be a price

How long can it stand its value?
Bitcoin value depends on people who use it and we are always going to be using bitcoin, atleast i'm

Is the end near?
It was , 2012 remember  Wink

Or will it just be remembered in the statue?
It sure will be remembered in the statue but a live one

The price will probably drop for a few years. It will be a good time to accumulate, then it will rise and rise and rise. The duration will be many years, and Bitcoin will last for many more years beyond that. It will hold its own because of the inherent value that it brings. That is the important part that accounts for its longevity.

Indeed, we are on accumulation period like after 40 dollar crash in the early days. Long period of stable low price, time to stack up.

BTC will eventually be replaced I think, because deflation can be bad or good, and usually it is good when it is driven by innovation, not supply limits

Bitcoin will be forever...... Smiley

Lets hope that it will stay!
Bitcoin will not be forever, it will die when the universe implodes within itself.

LOL very original answer Smiley
Seriously, it's impossible to predict future of bitcoin.
For example, in the past hotmail email and msn search was the most popular on line and we was thinking that this will never change.
Now, we see that gmail and google search are the most popular online.
So, right now bitcoin is the most popular virtual currency but if someone start another virtual currency with better potential, people will naturally accept new ''great'' thing and forget bitcoin.
Let's wait and see what happens.

come to think of it, its a great way around inheretance tax
if you could find an old man to agree to change his money (inheritance) to Bitcoin. introduce him to us i am he will be on CNN next time there is something about bitcoin on

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

it's a bit clunky in its development. Very very conservative in that department if you ask me. Not enough new features compared to what others are doing. Not exactly adapting with the changing crypto environment.

My main fear is that the miners start jumping off the ship if the price goes lower.

it will last until central banks feel threatened by it. Then one or all of the following will happen:

1. government will ban it
2. central banks will buy up bitcoin, then dump it on the open market to crash the price
3. government/NSA will essentially take control of the project by coercing miners
