The bitcoin has yet not started to get well, you cannot expect it to die before all blocks have been mined and there will still be more transaction blocks to mine , so not going down for a while

The price will probably drop for a few years. It will be a good time to accumulate, then it will rise and rise and rise. Indeed, we are on accumulation period like after 40 dollar crash in the early days. Long period of stable low price, time to stack up.

Seriously, it's impossible to predict future of bitcoin.
For example, in the past hotmail email and msn search was the most popular on line and we was thinking that this will never change.
Now, we see that gmail and google search are the most popular online.
So, right now bitcoin is the most popular virtual currency but if someone start another virtual currency with better potential, people will naturally accept new ''great'' thing and forget bitcoin.
Let's wait and see what happens.

it's a bit clunky in its development. Very very conservative in that department if you ask me. Not enough new features compared to what others are doing. Not exactly adapting with the changing crypto environment.

My main fear is that the miners start jumping off the ship if the price goes lower.

it will last until central banks feel threatened by it. Then one or all of the following will happen:

1. government will ban it
2. central banks will buy up bitcoin, then dump it on the open market to crash the price
3. government/NSA will essentially take control of the project by coercing miners
