So are people actively trading on there again? Or are folks just trying to get their alts back? There seems to be orders live on the site but didn't know if that was just left overs from before?

There is quite some trading activity on the XXX/CNY pairs and some one the XXX/BTC pairs. Time will tell if they can sustain this activity.

Yeah I think i'd still be a bit tentative about sending any BTC there....

Me too. I cashed out all my coins and am now waiting for a BTC_B/BTC pair. I would then be willing to deposit some BTC to grab some cheap BTC_B from panic dumpers.

With all the history of Bitcoin exchanges failing I'm surprised people are still keeping large amounts of Bitcoin on them.

It doesn't seem anybody is learning from the mistakes made in the past and history keeps repeating itself.

NXT withdrawals enabled! Feathercoin and Quark still disabled, but it feels good to get my NXT out of there.

*shrug shoulders* Learn what? If you are investor for sure it is bad idea to hold money on exchange: you buy them, withdraw and wait for good price to sell. But we are traders! More money i use for trade more profit i gain. I can't not hold money on exchange :|
Just need count a risk.. Possible profit for several mounth should cover possible lose due of hack/scam. After all old, big exchanges lose money not each month...

On one of the previous pages in this thread I gave precise calculations, i.e. if you're making 1% on your capital daily distributing it between 4 (or more) exchanges (and compound), you will stay profitable if the rate with which exchanges run away or run over with thieves should not exceed one exchange per month.

Is there present any article where they have explained ALL the story of that hack? I really want to know all the explanation, and maybe one day I will start to use again bter (but obviously I will not keep my coin there for more the 10 minutes).

It turns out that trading at bter is still more rewarding, even today, both in terms of money and satisfaction. Well, they may just be deliberately injecting liquidity right now, but it still looks like good ol' days as before the hack happened.

So I assume they don't want to give a full explanation, until that day I will not deposit on bter.com anymore (I don't trust them, if they don't want to explain).

Can I ask you  why have you decided poloniex and not cryptsy or another exchange? I would like to choose another valid exchange for trade daily all my altcoins.

I wouldn't pick up cryptsy either. This exchange is too slow on withdrawals as well as deposits, their trading engine is not working correctly, and they just look like a next gox overall. As to me, bittrex is a by far better alternative, and it has more volume than poloniex at that.

Thanks for your answer but I've asked  mishax1, not you.

It seems the exchange are dying slowly, maybe it will start a new era of decentralized exchange. I hope someone will make a valid and functionally place to exchange coin safely, easy and primally decentralized.

I like poloniex for their immediate and efficient support, their new site design is also pretty decent, and the fact that they added coins that I have and cryptsy and others don't, like Maidsafe,MSC,XCP,GEMZ,SJCX - these are coins that don't exist on Cryptsy.. (mastercoin and counterparty assets)

I'm not a day trader, I don't like to run between exchanges all the time, only sometimes when I see a nice arbitrage opportunity between the exchanges that I do use.

Also, my past experience with cryptsy wasn't great..

I am a Polo fan as well. You can always and I mean always find a support guy in the trollbox and I have never not had a issue fixed in under a few minutes. Those guys are dedicated. And the way they handled there hack was outstanding.

Thank you mishax1, I will look better to poloniex . Their altcoins volume is good maybe I will start to trade more on polo. I have seen a couple of users here in the forum said that it is a great exchange also for the fast support.

They sure do seem like the best altcoin exchange out there. Still there is inherent risk in using those exchanges. I am really looking forward to mercury and co. (they still have massive problems they need to overcome).

Agreed Polo have the best support of all the exchanges that i know of and the effort they put into even though they are a small exchange is impressive to say the least. I know you should not leave funds on exchanges but my trading coins are always left on there and always will be i trust them fully, that aside i am freerolling anyway. Has anyone got their altcoins from BTer yet? About a week ago i heard they was starting but they are long..

I got my doges yesterday in the morning (in my time zone), though it took me a few angry emails to the bter support. But it had been even before the withdrawal of doges was finally enabled. I was among the first who tried to withdraw just after trading was enabled, later they disabled withdrawals and put coins on hold.
