Hey FonziCoin... let me know if you need someone to test it out on Nova's pools. I'll throw one of my S1's on it.

dead launch... dead coin? Dev gone?

No no no! I've been working on the re-launch. This is going to live and it will be fair. And I'm taking OC miner up on his offer to help me test the stratum mining. I've put FonzieCoin on top of a coin that had a full PoW run without any problems. I haven't changed anything about the PoW except the hard-coded block rewards.

It will be tested and it will work and it will be fair.

sweet! do you have any kind of estimated ETA? I noticed the block count went up and the diff has changed. Is something working?

Hey thanks for your offer to help test. I'll get back to you about when the testing will be. Probably 20-24 hours from the time of this post, assuming I can get a hold of OC miner.

If testing goes well, then I'd try to re-launch within 48 hours, or 72 tops. I'll try to move the launch time earlier by a couple of hours to help assuage the tender feelings of our east coast friends.

Also, I have no idea how blocks are moving. I took down the repo so do they count? I'll make a new genesis with new packet leaders, and even a new P2P port if necessary. The other chain stopped and no one could mine. I'll ignore that chain. It was pretty clear that one died. I'll make sure that there is no crosstalk between the two chains. If anyone is mining that chain and wants to keep it alive, they'll have to maintain it. I won't. If that chain had kept moving, I would have done my best to get the stratum mining going.

Edit to the previous paragraph: it looks like the previous chain is still stuck at block 26, where it stopped 3 days ago. That chain is dead.

Note to other pools: suprnova will have a compiled executable ready on launch. All else will need to download and compile when the new repo is posted at launch.

I've got the new wallet built. I put a little surprise in there to entice everyone to join in.

We will test the network tomorrow. If network testing is done in early enough, we'll try to test stratum at suprnova if I can connect with OC.

If that looks good, then I'll set a launch time.

Putting in the surprise took and extra couple of days, so it set launch back. It will be worth the wait.

I had to adapt a little code to get it to build on mac which took most of my time today. I will probably be ready to test stratum in 20-24 hours. We tested the network tonight and it's good. I believe I'm looking at about 46 hours or so from the time of this post to launch. I'll most likely have a launch time to advertise in about 22 hours, which would be for the following day.

So tentatively Mar 17 UTC 5:30, which is about as early as I can do it. I don't want to leave out Europe. If I do it late at night for Europe, I'll leave out much of Asia.

I got very tied up tonight, so I couldn't get FoznieCoin to the point of being able to test on stratum. It was a very busy day for me today. I also spent a while tracking down this mining problem observed by TimC when he was solo mining because it came up for me on the test net. I think it comes from minerd. It makes a coinbase transaction with a particular timestamp, but doesn't update the timestamp everytime it submits a new block. Here's his bug: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=979296.msg10709735#msg10709735

I was worried that this bug was in the wallet itself, but it appears to be in minerd.

I'll try to test tomorrow and push the tentative launch to Mar 18 UTC 5:30 AM.

Sounds good.. i think everyone wants a solid, tested coin on release.

Lookin forward to it.

Lookin forward to it.

I went a little crazy on this mining bug that TimC found. It actually goes back to novacoin, but would never surface there because the network is PoS now. It could only happen to a nova descendant before the PoS period starts. It usually doesn't happen to coins on launch because the hashes are too great.

It happens when everyone on the network is mining PoW with RPC mining and no one finds a block for 10 minutes. The only way to restart the chain is for someone to restart the wallet they are mining into. I don't know how stratum works, but I don't think it would apply because the bug is in the RPC mining code.

Either way, I fixed it, although it probably won't be necessary. I'm ready to test stratum now, so I'm about to PM OCminer.

OCminer is MIA tonight.  Huh

If I don't hear from him tonight, then launch will have to get pushed back another day.

I haven't heard from OC miner. Launch is set for 5:30 AM UTC March 18. The parent coin had a full SHA256 run which finished just a few weeks ago without any problems. Many pools mined it. I also fixed a bug with solo RPC mining discovered by TimW (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=979296.msg10709735#msg10709735). This bug goes back to novacoin and only manifests under rare conditions. I've tested both solo RPC mining and staking on the testnet. I'm moving launch back earlier in the evening for those in the U.S., and at a time that should be somewhat convenient to nearly everyone on the planet. If I don't hear from OCminer, I'll point my rented hashes at the first good pool that pops up. If he can test before launch, then I'll try to test.

Fair blocks are still in effect. Nothing has changed except the code base of the parent coin and some small surprise enhancements I threw in.

No, but I just got a pool for it for launch.

Don't worry, no one on the team or operating the pool will hash until we see others hashing first.

I never heard from OCminer.

I just forked the parent coin to start the repo. That's not the real sources.
