Top Post Edit: Goal Met.

As of 2015 Jun 15, we have hit the goal of $600.00 (the stated approximate confiscation by the jackboots). Thank you all for your donations.

I'll update the donator's list with what I can sort out, provide pictorial proof of existence of Federal Reserve Notes, with 'kicker' paper wallet including prominent funding address, and deliver all the above to Zoe in the next day or three.

In the meantime, see today's postings in this thread for suggestions for an inscription to include.

Thanks to everyone who selflessly pitched in. And thanks to Gleb for kicking this whole project off.

It'll be up to Burt and Jean as to whether there will be a public acknowledgement of this gesture. But Jean has posted contact info at BurtW.com - you can always ask if you suspect anything might be amiss.

Watch this space for the next step...

OK, 2015 Jun 16 update. Stop donating to original address. Any further donations should be sent to https://blockchain.info/address/1KayK9cRSUHXLcs3kjyu1sbcJpUrdsk2Ei, which is a paper wallet that will be given in paper wallet form, along with the cash raised.

Please see the 'BurtW arrested' thread (link below) for background.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934268.msg10733040#msg10733040

Summary: In its bloodlust to lash out at a person trading bitcoins for their personal use, the behemoth of the state has stolen assets of an innocent family. Caught up in this is the family's eight year old daughter - the jackboot thugs stole her piggy bank, along with approximately $600 -- her entire life savings.

One would think that, once BurtW is exonerated, Zoe would get her savings back. But the tyrants are employing the legalistic theft doctrine of so-called 'civil forfeiture' to simply steal the funds, which leaves no meaningful recourse for recovering the funds. Easy as stealing candy from a baby. (no shit - look it up if you're not familiar with this travesty of injustice).

Bruno has suggested a donation fund, with the goal of restoring young Zoe's hard-earned money.

Having lived the nightmare of dozens of masked men, bearing guns and full riot gear, burst into her home and abuse and terrify her family, Zoe may never again trust anyone in law enforcement. However, we may be able to restore a little of her faith in the basic goodness of most of humanity.

If you're up to the task, would you be so kind as to escrow a bitcoin wallet address that you'll create for the purpose of garnering $600 USD worth of bitcoins? Once amassed, you convert (or however) the bitcoins to fiat, and source a like or similar container/safe that said amount once held Burt and Jean's eight-year-old daughter's savings to once again store the $600.

Hey Bruno - I'd be happy to do so. Bear in mind that, despite my long time involvement here on bitcointalk, I have never escrowed anything for anybody. Accordingly, there is the issue of having to trust me.

Alternatively, we could create a multisig address, which would distribute the trust. However, that's another thing that I've never done, and it would take a bit for me to figure it out. This time could run in parallel with a discussion of whom within the community should be signatories (keyholders) to the multisig address.

Thirdly, we can employ kevinlarr's addy. But then the community would need to trust both of us. In this case, it is likely better to leave it in the sole custody of kevinlarr, though I could still ensure the fiat gets to Zoe. Incidentally, while I have met Zoe -- even bought girl scout cookies from her on more than one occasion -- I am unsure of the spelling of her name. However, I have no reason currently to think that is is other than the most common 'Zoe' derivation.

So I ask anyone likely to donate to weigh in -- in this thread -- on which of these options they would prefer.

==========================
Edit:

Following is the address for donations - see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985596.msg10752541#msg10752541 for details.

1FvX81SxjLLvFymFVDH3Z4LXA87jVU6EaH OK, 2015 Jun 16 update. Stop donating to original address. Any further donations should be sent to https://blockchain.info/address/1KayK9cRSUHXLcs3kjyu1sbcJpUrdsk2Ei, which is a paper wallet that will be given in paper wallet form, along with the cash raised.

I'd be happy to just FWD the bitcoin where ever needed but looks like my spelling on the vanity address was off anyway, LOL.  The way I spelled it kinda sounds like zowwwie (rhyme with Maui) -- I guess I should've googled first:

https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100103210237AATBdGi

Anyway if we wanna make a vanity address for this, it's easy enough for whoever's ultimately in charge of handling it to do so with VanityGen ( https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen ) same as I did it, so that way I don't have to be trusted with the private key at first.

Happy to help either way, just let me know & I'm ready to send some BTC to the fund for little Zoe ("Zoey?") as soon as it's ready.

I don't like vanity addresses. They're cute and all, but they reduce entropy.

Yeah, I know that. And I generally agree, but for something like this that doesn't need to protect anonymity so much, and really just to make it kinda a little more FUN for the girl?  I figured maybe it was appropriate.

Anyway, either way = fine 4 me.

Just whoever's doing this let us know where to send the coin, I'm ready to click some over.

Maybe if we pull this off and get the money the jackboots STOLE from this little 8-year-old girl back to her, it can even generate some media coverage, stories, human-interest news articles to shine more light on what they've done to BURT and his FAMILY.

That'd show 'em... ha! Karma's a bitch  Grin

Without reading the rest of this thread, there should be no problem with you acting as escrow for a mere $600 in this regard, nor no need for a third-party/multi sig. Just provide a bitcoin wallet address, and the rest should take care of itself, with everybody who donates having enough faith in you to do as you've outlined. No need to complicate a simple venture. And, thanks for doin' this, bud.

I'll now read the rest of this thread to see if an address is readily available.

I'll concur. If this were for a larger sum with the campaign having a longer duration time, then I would lean toward a vanity address. That said, J, just create an address that'll be in your sole control, and let's move forward. I sincerely doubt if there'll be more than a small handful of naysayers about the overall attempt expressing any discontent, albeit their views should be welcome sans laying into them too heavily, if that clause makes any sense, with apologies if I failed in that regard.

Been following the thread about BurtW and as the time progresses, my disgust to the law enforcement deepens. Civil forfeiture - why would those jackboots get the hard-earned money of an eight-year old kid? I mean, seriously, it is a different entity from her parents' money. I cannot believe what is happening to the law enforcement today. "Legal actions"? I don't think so. They are overstepping the lines of their so-called "duties" to the "law".

If you can provide an address, I would love to chuck in something for the kid.

Is everyone assuming Burt was innocent in all of this? I mean, he wasn't bringing the heat on himself at all?

I realize what he did should not impact his daughter. The fact that they seized her money is bullshit. And if Burt's found innocent he can sue the police and get the money back.

There just seems to be a lot of automatic support for this guy but he doesn't seem to be completely innocent.

Um, dude... no offense, okay? But can you fucking *read*?

This ain't Andy Griffith 1950's America with Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet anymore, man.  Pretty fucking far from it.  Suggest you go research and read up on CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE and etc, i.e. what's really going on, before commenting, right?

At the very least, follow the link to http://www.fear.org that Burt's wife posted prominently on their support page. Or go listen to the senate subcommittee hearing audio, posted earlier in this thread, about what's being attempted to be done to reform this shit.

The "AUTHORITIES" are COUNTING on the SAD FACT that un-informed observers LIKE YOU will simply ASSUME "the guy doesn't seem to be innocent" to TOTALLY COVER UP their extreme un-constitutional actions.

But it ain't supposed to be like that: in AMERICA - in theory - even if someone is actually guilty but the police violate their constitutional rights against unreasonable search and seizure in collecting the evidence to prove their guilt, THEY WALK FREE anyway.

YOUR ATTITUDE is *precisely* and nearly ONLY the entire reason THEY are getting away with this shit.

You're enabling it.  Wake the fuck up.

A lot more people need to be woken up if you want to stop this kind of thing. We have become a near Orwellian police state. As long as we are fat and comfortable not enough people will care. Put your feet up, throw on the reality show du joir and go down with the ship seems to be the gameplan for the vast majority of not only Americans but westerners in general.

OK, I've given this 24 hours for comment. Having seen no dissension, this will be the address to be used:

1FvX81SxjLLvFymFVDH3Z4LXA87jVU6EaH one line edit: don't use this address - we met our goal. Paper wallet will accompany $600 cash. If you want to donate further, please use https://blockchain.info/address/1KayK9cRSUHXLcs3kjyu1sbcJpUrdsk2Ei, which is a paper wallet that will be given in paper wallet form, along with the cash raised.

This is an address for which I am the only party that has the private key. I will leave this until we reach $600.00, or until consensus in this thread determines that no more donations are likely to be made. Upon either of these conditions, I will cut a check to Zoe, provide an image of said check in this thread, and either mail or hand-deliver it to her.

If funds in excess of $600.00 are accumulated in this fund, I will remit the remainder to Jean's donation address.

Not meaning to put words in the mouths of Zoe, Burt, or Jean, but I assume they might make an announcement of Zoe receiving this token of our appreciation of her fight against creeping totalitarianism on the BurtW.com website.

Thank you all for your effort in this cause, and thank you Bruno for putting this in motion.

If you contribute to this effort by making a donation, notify us in the thread here. I will accumulate nicks of all donators in the OP. If a day or so goes by without your name appearing in the OP, shoot me a PM.

Here's the Reddit link: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2yuwgo/seeking_only_600_usd_via_btc_donations_to_replace/

For those unable to donate but desire to help, simply get the word out via the myriad social media outlets. We're only talkin' 'bout $600 USD here, folks.

The third transaction to the donation address for 0.0777 BTC about $23 bucks was from me... but since I'm using this kevinlarr account *only* for comment in the BurtW threads (keeping my normal nic out of it, just in case of retaliation etc by The Other Side) kinda don't care if you list me in the donators or not, either way.

C'mon you guys, let's get this up to $600 for Zoe.

And anyone have any contacts or sources for media/news attention to this topic? Would be cool to see a feature story on it on coindesk or even some mainstream media site.

Thanks, bud, and nobody's maintaining a list. To date, we're just shy of a third of the way to the ONLY $600 goal.

Neat idea about having an article penned. The rags (non-derogatory) always need fodder. Who reading this has connections?

Somebody on Reddit penned a kinda snide remark, so I replied in kind, kind of: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2yuwgo/seeking_only_600_usd_via_btc_donations_to_replace/

JB's just adding donator names to the end of the 1st post in this thread.  No big deal, either way really.

Neat idea about having an article penned. The rags (non-derogatory) always need fodder. Who reading this has connections?

I don't have any connect unfortunately. Maybe if we-all here started some kind of email campaign? Sending links to this thread to the media or something?

Somebody on Reddit penned a kinda snide remark, so I replied in kind, kind of: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2yuwgo/seeking_only_600_usd_via_btc_donations_to_replace/

Well okay but y'know grandma always used to say "You Catch More Flies With Honey Than Vinegar".  Not sure why she'd wanna catch flies in the first place however... LOL

Missed the OP update. Thanks.

In re. Flies/Honey: All in all, my response was rather mild and perhaps I shouldn't have penned anything, but something came over me. That said, apologies to all.

I tend to avoid public donations, for obvious reasons, but this is just wrong.

Edit:

Following is the address for donations - see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985596.msg10752541#msg10752541 for details.

Ha!  Yeah, I agree... maybe when we meet the target goal of $600 worth of btc to replace young Zoe's piggy bank, we should insist on transferring it only to her OWN WALLET, keeping it in bitcoin & not converting to fiat, as a condition of replacing her loss!

Would kinda drive the point home and/or make it evident for outside observers, which one is better... right?

I think her father would agree Smiley

They can just as easily confiscate bitcoins as they do fiat, as the father would surely attest to.

Ok here's $10 to Zoe.  So what are we supposed to do to prevent martyrs like BurtW, Charlie Shrem, and Ross Ulbricht?

Ok here's $10 to Zoe.  So what are we supposed to do to prevent martyrs like BurtW, Charlie Shrem, and Ross Ulbricht?

Over on the other "main" BurtW thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934268.0 ... I've been trying to steer the conversation around to this, i.e. what can bitcoin people do (particularly traders who buy and sell on localbitcoins.com like Burt (allegedly) did) to protect themselves from being the next "BurtW" case.

Topics have included possibly putting a legal disclaimer with various protective agreement clauses into your LBC ad if you're a vendor, to making prospective buyers sign an agreement before proceeding with any trade, to keeping your trades under some supposedly "low enough" limit (per trade or per day or per-whatever) to the simple but most likely impractical "just get licensed, man" argument... all the way to extreme reaction that is likely the whole PURPOSE of this exercise by the government: just don't buy or sell bitcoin from anyone or anywhere OTHER than the "controlled" and "licensed" (and "monitored") government approved exchanges or sources.

There are not really any solid answers yet, but the topic is (hopefully) evolving over there.  Suggest we move any add'tl info on this subject to that thread and keep THIS one only focused on getting 1 more bitcoin for Zoe.  The FUND is already almost HALFWAY there!  Thanks to all contributors, very nice of y'all Smiley

Apologies for not being here of late, but was caught up in that Leroy Fodoer dude. I don't think you want to know what I'm caught up in now pertaining to Bitcoin, but it'll make Pattaya look tame by comparison. Let's just say that if Burt wasn't married and he was buds with certain 'ticians, and didn't reside in CO, by in a state known for its apples, he may not be in this pickle (no pun intended).

It would be great to get some media attention on that.

"Police stole 8-years-old's piggy bank" - catchy headline.

Seriously, it must have been traumatic experience for the girl.

Unbelievable that the cops can legally take Zoe's money, let alone the trauma induced by having your house raided by uniformed thugs.

Actually a couple of the sub-$1 transactions were mine too... just tossing in a little more "loose change" dust from a couple of my lesser-used wallets there.

But... "aaaaah" c'mon you guys, we're at 0.99xxxx seriously?  Someone throw in fifty cents more worth and at least tip it over to 1.0 whole bitcoin!!

Weekly bump. Now up to 21 donations. But seemingly slowing. That can't be the best we can do, can it?

Maybe if you think of it as blowing a great big raspberry in the masked face of some indignant stormtrooper? Imagine letters of your choosing on the breast of their tactical vest - DEA, IRS, ATF, TSA, GAW, ...

Think about it, won't you?

Hello,

This is Zoë's mom, Jean.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the fund for our daughter.  She has always been quite the saver and was hoping to go to rock climbing camp this summer.

We appreciate your concern for our daughter.  She is very traumatized by these events.

I've been asked not to post anymore.  Every time I post, the federal agents that are spying on the Bitcoin world tell AUSA Korver and she gives Burt's attorney an earful.

Thanks, Jean

Oh to be a fly on the wall... surely, Korver's at least _heard of_ the First Amendment?

Bumping thread... seems to have lost a little of the early momentum.   Sad

C'MON YOU GUYS, ante up!  A few cents here and there and we can hit this! It's already halfway there (although, yeah, recent BTC price drop hasn't helped IF we are measuring this in fiat value for Zoe's $600 rather than just 2-whole-bitcoins, as the target goal...?)

MOST of the recent little transactions on this address have been mine, I believe, as I've just been tossing ten or twenty cents into the kitty via "dust" leftover transactions on my day to day bitcoin wallet's management (I like to keep things to whole-btc numbers if possible, and yeah I know that's kinda anal LOL).

Usually I just throw away that dust by fooling around with it in one of the online bitcoin casinos, where you can play blackjack for a fraction of a penny per hand, BUT lately I've been giving it to Zoe here instead.

IF some of y'all out there can ALSO start doing something similar? I think we'd hit this goal of 2 BTC in no time.

C'mon...  Grin

Well, things seem to be losing momentum. Anyone else in the shadows waiting to make their contribution? When do we conclude it's all this vast community can do?

This community is not famous for giving bitcoins away I guess. Probably it would be completed by now if it was DOGE related and posted on /r/dogecoin.

I'd say give it another week or 2 and pass on to Zoe whatever there is.

Actually, this community has been very generous in the past, that's why I'm taken aback that after ~40 days we've only amassed ~$254.15 of a mere ~$600 campaign.

I really don't think this whole story has yet gotten the exposure it deserves.

The entire "Cops Take Kid's Piggy Bank In SWAT Raid" thing ought to be it's own story, even totally separate from all the issues re: Burt, bitcoins, MSB licenses, etc etc.

If it got even a little play elsewhere, outside of just this-here BCT thread, I think the $600 donation goal would be hit in a few hours.

Doesn't anyone here have any connections in "the media" to get the story broken out from ONLY bitcoin space?

All right, things have tapered. Last call, folks, to try to restore some faith in humanity in one child's eyes. I was hoping we could get at least halfway (OK, I was hoping for all the way) to restoring what the jackboots stole from her. If everyone that read this punted in 0.01 Bitcoin, we'd be there. Think about it, won't you?

Thanks in advance for your generous contribution!

OK... let's try this.

We are currently -- as of block height 357305 -- sitting at 1.2112 BTC - $286.18 at today's prices, or not quite halfway to what was stolen. I hereby pledge to match any now donations 1:1 until we reach $600. Or until the community or family decides enough is enough.

So who wants to use my money to leverage their donation?

https://blockchain.info/address/1FvX81SxjLLvFymFVDH3Z4LXA87jVU6EaH OK, 2015 Jun 16 update. Stop donating to original address. Hi jonald - sorry for the late response. I've not been logging in regularly.

The answer is yes - I said I would match up to the time that the total hits the $600 level, and I will.

Near as I can tell, that would just about put us there, no?

Shall we?

Well, at today's price (if you'll excuse the snark), http://lmgtfy.com/?q=600+usd+%3D+btc we'd need a total of 2.6822 BTC. There's currently 1.2580731 BTC in the kitty, adding your half and my half brings us to 2.2580731. We'd need another 0.424469 BTC to hit the goal.

So full of warm hearted white knighting when bitcoin is involved to the morons like yourselves, who screwed over his own family thanks to his own fkery.

Shame little of that goes for people being extorted in bitcoins under threats, people ross tried to off for drug change, and mt.gox victims who 'deserved' it all.  Grin

Nah, they never had families or little girls to look after surely. I do feel badly for young zoe for being bothered with 'generosities' from strangers she would rather avoid at all costs Cheesy

Shame that her name is being used like a cheap tissue paper for collective righteous masturbation of a forum full of adolescent hypocrites. Ordinary person would rather not have you mouth off about zoe at all.

Such childishly obvious application of good will and ulterior motive-laden actions show more than you want others to know about the current bitcoin devotee community.

Hey, I always swap hats on stuff like this... If it was me, and they did that to my kids... I would appreciate ANY kind of help and support I could get.

The father f* ed up... Why must the children suffer? {The jury is still out, if he f* ed up or if he was screwed.}

Many of the wifes and the kids are oblivious to the stuff the spouse or parents are doing, and they have to suffer the most, when the shit hits the fan.

I see no reason, why we could not donate a little money, to help out the kid. After all, what is $600 to most of the fat cat hoarders on this forum.  Grin Grin Grin

Hey Folks... sorry I've been away from this thread for a while and didn't realize it had heated back up.

Nice to see the goal's getting close for Zoe (despite the trolling but, yeah, no such thing as bad publicity eh?)

I'm only on my phone at the moment & can't send any btc from it but I'll come back tomorrow first thing and try to pitch in a little more if I can.

OTOH, would be nice if maybe the damn price would just recover a little of the last few month's losses, so THAT alone would push us over the top vis-a-vis fiat-price exchange rate?Huh

Hope hope, LOL

P.S. (Edit) Ooops, never mind just noticed I did have a wallet with a little btc available on my phone - so just kicked in about another ten bucks (0.05 btc) Smiley

this doesn't have anything to do with Ross or mt. gox.  I guess you may be slightly stupid.

Very weak comeback fool Smiley

Everyone knows exactly what is being addressed here. Typical of your types to try and deflect with very obvious side swipe.

Don't need a strong comeback to a non-point.  At least we are trying to help and
do some good.  Apparently you find that repulsive.  I get it..."helping others...pughhhh!"
Am I right?

P.S. Thank you Kevin!

Wow! I step away for a few days, and you guys just 'bout topped it off.

https://blockchain.info/address/1FvX81SxjLLvFymFVDH3Z4LXA87jVU6EaH OK, 2015 Jun 16 update. Stop donating to original address. Any further donations should be sent to https://blockchain.info/address/1KayK9cRSUHXLcs3kjyu1sbcJpUrdsk2Ei, which is a paper wallet that will be given in paper wallet form, along with the cash raised.

At this very moment, it is showing as $592.69. I'll cap it off at $600. Thanks for all your generous donations.

It will be later this week before I can get to the bank, and pick up some Benjamins.. I'll pick up some sort of a card too.

In the meantime, can we crowdsource an inscription for the card?

In the meantime, can we crowdsource an inscription for the card?

The thought of this donation is well intended but converting those bitcoins to Fiat which is just as vulnerable to theft seems questionable at best, especially since it indirectly supports the same state that victimized her and her family. On the other hand can she is only 8 years old and bitcoin may not be user friendly enough for her to handle securely.

Here is an idea.... Can you print off either a multisig paper wallet or SSS paper wallet and enclose it with the 600 USD cash and a letter and I will be happy to donate some more bitcoins to make a starting deposit on that paper wallet. (Will another family member be able to help her secure the shards?) Let me know if you can do this an I'll send over some more bitcoin. It will be great to watch that savings grow for her over the years as well.

As far as the inscription is concerned I think it should be something that instills a sense of solidarity in her fellow humankind. I'll try thinking of a few examples that are pertinent to this situation.

'life isn't always fair, but there are forces of good and people who care'

That is a decent quote, I like the rhyming. Here are a few ideas from me:

Something I came up with -

Never allow yourself to be made a victim or be bullied. You are a free, independent, beautiful human being. Accept no one's determination of your life, but define it yourself.

Or a couple apropos quotes from Ayn Rand:

"We [entrepreneurs] required that you leave us free to function -- free to think and work as we choose ... -- free to earn our own profits and make our own fortunes"

"Money is only a tool. It will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver."

Some follow up -

I won't be mailing - I'll hand-deliver. I think a good portion of the reason Gleb nominated me to be the handler -- this entire project was his idea, mind you -- is because he knows that I know Zoe's dad quite well.

I don't recall where I got the idea, but I think the family other then Burt is a little soured on Bitcoin altogether, given the pain that the state has inflicted upon their lives, using Bitcoin as an excuse. So cash it is. That said, I will be happy to include a paper wallet as well. I'll take a photo of card, cash, and wallet, and post here before delivery. That paper wallet 'kicker' is a good idea.

Good inscription ideas. Keep 'em coming, then start chiming in on the best submitted by others. We should be able to wrap this up in two or three days.

I cannot blame the rest of the family for being somewhat bitter about bitcoin with all the grief they are going through, regardless of the blame being solely with the injustice and immorality of the laws.

I sent another 0.25 BTC/~60USd along with my other donations for you to put that to a bitcoin paperwallet to be intended for her to save till 18. Hopefully by then she will have something to go towards either college or her career.

yeah this isn't about 'showing how great the btc community is', this is about principles and compassion and making a difference.  still I like the idea of an additional paper wallet in case btc really explodes in value.

Very cool that this finally came thru  Cool

Would still like to see some mainstream media coverage on it, that'd make it even better (worth more than the small $600 to overall benefit of everyone concerned, I'd think, plus calling-out of the bad cop behavior value too IMHO)

Nobody here has any media connections really?  CoinDesk?  TechCrunch? Hello??  Bueller...?  Bueller...?

KEV

P.S. I'm not even sure exactly how much btc I put into this since a lot of it was just my "dust" from various wallets.

So I'm gonna need a new worthy cause to send dust to now, LOL.  Any suggestions?

And thanks again, everyone.

Now another request: stop sending to the original donation address. That address belongs to me, and I cannot monitor it in perpetuity. Instead, please send to the following address -

In link form, that is https://blockchain.info/address/1KayK9cRSUHXLcs3kjyu1sbcJpUrdsk2Ei

The astute will note that this is a paper wallet. It will be enclosed with the cash and the card when given to Zoe.

Speaking of which, I have been in contact with Burt, and we are trying to schedule time this evening to pass this on to Zoe.

In the meantime, I will deposit whatever funds are in excess of the $600 from the initial address into this paper wallet. The original address, being one of mine, will have an indeterminate lifecycle. At least until I invest the time to figure out how to implement coin control.

Great luck - at today's price, the initial address holds $684.94. I am depositing 0.35366615 BTC -- $84.94 at the current price -- into the paper wallet. One time only Smiley

Some housekeeping:

Anyone who has published the original donation address, please replace with the new paper wallet address.

I am updating the list of donors in the OP. This will be copied to the card. If you belong on there, and ain't, let me know right away.

If all y'all don't get on the stick about the inscription, I'll just take my best stab at it. Likely a combination of those already suggested.

This being intended as a long-term savings-account wallet, maybe a vanity address for Zoe would be nice?

This would be nice and I would be glad to help make an article submission but Burt and jbreher need to let us know if they want the publicity or not? Take a couple pictures at least of her reaction in case an article will be written.

Now that Openbazaar has a large investment,... the one project that needs the most help and is critically important is Darkwallet-  https://www.darkwallet.is/

Thank you for being a good steward and your efforts. Let us know about the publicity because if you document it with photos and video we could help publicize it and raise more funds for her savings and future...something to think about.

Sorry - I had not noticed that the addy looked like a vanity addy. Merely coincidence. Your suggestion is a good one. Unfortunately, this is what we're rolling with. I don't have time today to respin everything. Bear in mind, it'll be in her hands this evening (assuming nascent plans come to fruition).

I hate to be a jerk -- especially given your readiness to help -- but could you please redact your addy in order to stave off any confusion?

Alternatively, you could manage another campaign built around your addy.

I am in or out - makes no difference to me. I might do something local as well, but I am laying low for now, under the impression that the family would like things quiet for now, while the extortion phase of their plight is still unfolding. I suggest we take our cues from the family. I would not want to be mentioned without Gleb being mentioned as well - he kicked this project off. And everyone who donated as well. Assuming, of course, they would not object.

Reminder -- edit the new address in the OP of this thread.

Yikes! missed it. Fixed now. Any others?

Nice, but that address on the paper wallet LOOKS like an intended VANITY address for a girl named "Kay"...?

This being intended as a long-term savings-account wallet, maybe a vanity address for Zoe would be nice?

Sorry - I had not noticed that the addy looked like a vanity addy. Merely coincidence. Your suggestion is a good one. Unfortunately, this is what we're rolling with. I don't have time today to respin everything. Bear in mind, it'll be in her hands this evening (assuming nascent plans come to fruition).

I hate to be a jerk -- especially given your readiness to help -- but could you please redact your addy in order to stave off any confusion?

Alternatively, you could manage another campaign built around your addy.

No problem... no confusion intended, it was just a thought.

I'll go back to that post and edit-out the address right away.

In that case take a few photos and get a video of the event and sit on it so we can publicize later when the family doesn't have so much pressure on them from the state. It will be a better article in the future anyways because it will likely show the paper wallet value grown, and tell a larger story of the total legal outcome of the whole event.

If they never do decide to publicize it than that would be another gift for the family and Zoe to record a brief moment of happiness among a very stressful moment in time to reflect upon and remind her there does exist a bit of humanity left in what may seem to be an increasingly unjust world..

Zoë says thanks. As do Jean and Burt.

She was quite speechless to start, but recovered gracefully. I understand this should allow her to participate in rock climbing activities this summer.

I get the impression the family may be more public once the (in)justice system finishes chewing.

Thanks again for all your help!

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you.  Jean posted a thank you here:  http://www.burtw.com/wow-.html

Check it out.  There is a nice picture of Zoë with Bitcoin "Santa Claus".

We are truly grateful for all the love and support we have received from the Bitcoin community.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

On July 13, 2015, the federal case against Burt was dismissed at the request of the Department of Justice.  Unfortunately the debt incurred to fight the spurious charge and the damage done to Burt's reputation remains.  Thank you to those who have supported our family during this difficult time.

Zoe is having a blast rock-climbing.  She went to team try-outs and made the team.  Thanks again for your support.

Thanks , for keeping us up to date. Our paltry donations aren't much and is a small drop in the bucket to make whole on what the state has taken from you.

My greater concern about this is the longterm psychological effect it will have on Zoe as it is indeed traumatic experience to go through at such an age. Hopefully it will become a good learning experience to create a healthy skepticism of the state and not full on paranoia which can take over peoples lives if they obsess about it.
