Etched in iron (or what ever metal has a higher melt threshhold), stored in a fire proof, immovable safe.
This would be protected against theft, fire, flood, death....

I am afraid nothing can protect you from death itself. I do not know what is the most creative way of keeping bitcoin in cold storage but I am sure that the best way it to keep it in the most inconspicuous way. As some old papers or book maybe. That way nobody would even notice it.

You could put your paper in a small fireproof safe. It might not live up to a nuclear holocaust but your coins might be safe in a house fire.

Some people may not think this is very creative, however I am pretty sure very few people do this. I would use a silver wallet to actually store bitcoin in. This is contrary to what most people use their silver wallets (and most other physical coins) for - as collection items.
Although this is technically a paper wallet, it is still somewhat unique because few/no people use their physical coins this way

You can also announce your private keys in a public place like this forum and let them write it on paper, that way even if a few people get in a traffic accident and this site somehow shuts down, the private keys still won't be lost, and you wouldn't have to deal with a paper cut

Save it in a freezer? You said "cold" storage right? Just kidding, i actually don't save my bitcoins in a cold storage (not yet) Maybe I'll go with paper wallet way, since it's traditional and simple (but not really secure )

Creative? Create a picture which includes a several step riddle which reveals the private key at the end. Get an oil painted version and hang it on the wall, for added security include several passwords that are part of the riddle but have to be given in order to find the solution.

I'm fine with having the private key engraved on a piece of metal and then store it like what you normally do with paper wallet. That relates to the ad posted earlier on this forum. Therefore, even though that doesn't qualify as being creative, at least you don't have issues such as house getting burned down or ink faded away that cause the private key to be lost forever.

Base 6 format private keys are 99 digits in length using numbers 0 - 5. What comes in sixes??? Vowels! Pick out a novel, a classic book that will never go out of print. Then choose your special chapter and start counting vowels. A=0 E=1 I=2 O=3 U=4 Y=5
"It was the best of times it was the worst of times" = "0113212013321" and so on
After 99 you will have a private key that you can never lose, assuming you can find a copy of that book.

A couple posts about the multi step riddle and they are all interesting, I remember a art collector hid millions in paintings and has a riddle to solve them, would be really cool to se someone do this in bitcoins

From the other thread, this seems pretty cool and durable, if a bit pricey. $150+$8 per foot of tape. Not sure what the works out to per bip38 encrypted private key.

Embedded chip under the skin that can hold coins and record transactions? This way you know your precious bitcoins are always with you wherever you go Mr. Bitcoin has a NFC chip implanted in his hand that holds his Bitcoin wallet. Hand-implanted NFC chips open this man's bitcoin wallet. He is a fascinating and amazing man.

Aren't NFC thieves on the rise? Seems like a less secure method then he thought. He doesn't store the private keys directly on the NFC. They are encrypted with BIP38, so that only he can use them. Yes, thieves could steal them if they got near his hands, but they would be useless to them as they don't know the secret passphrase that encrypted the private keys.

I back everything up in 2 locations and 3 different drives. Backup is the best way to preserve something I used to love watching people at uni who stored all their assignments on a thumb drive only for it to fail. I'd ask if they'd backed it up... They learnt to do so quickly

I think Charlie Shrem did this already...... How about storing them in plane sight??? Make a bunch of new addresses in a wallet each with 1 satoshi. Then pay all those satoshis back to one of your primary well-known wallet address that you can recognize. Use the 2nd number/letter of each address as the passphrase for a brain wallet which then give you a private key/public key. HIDDEN IN PLAIN SITE and won't go away unless bitcoin is dead. --Now that this method is said it is not safe (and not really random either), DO NOT ACTUALLY DO THIS!!! lol

Instead of the second number, you could use the last digit or the second to last digit. You obviously would not use 1 satoshi inputs, but instead use inputs starting at .01 BTC and increasing up to 1.12 BTC in .01 BTC increments, and having the digit that you use for the .01 input as the first number/letter of your passphrase, the .02 input the second digit and so on until the 1.12 digit is the last digit of your passphrase. You could first create transactions to an intermediary address (or several so you would need to go back a few 'hops' to get back to your passphraise inputs), then create the brainwallet and fund the brainwallet.

Paper that doesn't burn or a brain wallet. I think a brain wallet is a very creative way to keep your bitcoins in cold storage because you need to be very creative to create a safe brainwallet.

Not sure how creative it is but it would surly be very safe as long as you remember where you put it i would use stone engraved with the keys and have that buried in a time capsule in my garden. Like i said would be safe enough and as long as you do not need it really quick would be perfect for me at least and i am going to look into it
