A real one. You can't have much of an economy without food. Does one exist already? If not, I say we all chip in and buy one.

It's not the same as a farm exactly, but I've thought about selling bitcoin for cash at the farmers' markets here in town (we have 3 of them) and trying to persuade the farm vendors to accept it. It's a good market that's growing for some of the same reasons that alternative currencies are; people are tired of being the victims of corporate greed. If you could get farmers' markets all over the country to accept and sell bitcoin, it might get somewhere.

I like a lot the idea, provided that is in a country that respects the human right to private property, such as Uruguay, Mexico, or Cambodia.
It could even work as a tourist resort or something similar. Doug Casey and some other smart millionaires are invested in this sector. (Both him and Bill Bonner invested in land and real estate in Argentina. Wonder why, since they are always cracking jokes about it).

How about both? If you can buy equipment with bitcoin it would be a hell lot easier to accept it. The problem however is without some sort of lobbying people will be far too exposed to government thugs.

Hence why you would get some people who are trusted in the community to be payed in bitcoins to do all the lobbying for us as well Smiley

This sounds like a good idea to me. Why not have the farm in New Hampshire?

So that makes four proposals.

Anyone with the know-how, resources, or willingness to head any of these up?

Give it time Wink

Profound things like that aren't done overnight and require lots of people to support it. Over time people will come to the same conclusions we had in this thread over and over again, and once there is critical mass it will manifest in multiple places around the world at once.  Cool

About resources, I have an old friend in Brazil (south, near the border with Argentina and Paraguay) which may help -just with info and contacts initially-, if a group here is interested in the location -which I find quite good under several different aspects.

About willingness: I would personally move there and work for free starting tomorrow just to plant my flag there (I visited it, so I know what I am talking about).

If youre going to buy a farm you should use the btc as collateral on a fiat loan rather than selling it.

So that you can hedge against the bitcoin price shooting up.

as long as bitcoins daily volume is below walmarts daily gross profits, there's more important stuff than a farm!

It's the other way around.

I'll be back in a decade to laugh about your statement.
