Waiting bitcoin price until reach $1000 is need very very long time. I preffer like to use some part of my bitcoin as investment like trading, joining new ICO or etc so my bitcoin will grow. I will not sell all  of my bitcoin, I preffer like to sell my profit in my investment. I wait the price rise while I do investment or work.

I have only (and not lately) used some of my BTC stash to buy gold, mostly as an experiment to see how BTC works and to balance out (diversify) my holdings that include gold & BTC (and of course other assets).  When I had a lot of BTC, I bought some gold.  As I am now comfortable with my gold holdings, I am HODLING all of my BTC.

But, I would likely do something like this if the price were to rise enough:

-- sell some 25% if/when BTC reached, say, $3500
-- sell some 25% more at about $7000 - $10,000
-- sell the next 25% at about $25,000
-- sell the next 10% at $50,000
-- sell the next 10% at $100,000
-- MAYBE sell the rest at $250,000..............

Actually, that's an excellent point.  Were there to be any kind of grotesque BTC problem (security breach, an effective government ban, etc.), or even a serious threat (say, discussed by people more knowledgeable than me here at bitcointalk), that might get me to bail...  It would have to alarm me quite a bit though.  The various somewhat scary BTC issues we have all seen have not been "serious enough" to drive me out.

The problem with that line of thinking is that should someone ID a really grave threat to the Bitcoin Ecosystem, the price would likely go down faster than the British Pound in a flash-crash...

I think that is a very good reason, sometimes it is not a good idea to put too many coins in wallet, and you should sell if you think the price is good, by selling we already helped the bitcoin to stay alive, and it is good to sell some of your coin if you are in need of money

i have big plans with bitcoin and with my calculations and speculations i will continue holding bitcoin for as long as i am alive and try to spend it instead of selling.

We are on the same boat though I have less bitcoin compared to any of you "I will never sell all my bitcoins" Period!

I believe that bitcoin has lot of future and that is why I am holding my bitcoin till the very end. But there's still time that we used our bitcoin for personal reasons but never sell  all of it.

its true, i think we can buy altcoin in 3-5 type of altcoins, so we can not confusing to handle each of altcoins. but if you like to buy many of coins and you have much of bitcoin, then its fine.

and i would sell all my bitcoins if i see that there is a good price and i can take high profit like now, because i buy bitcoin when the price is in $595 and now the rate is reach $622, i think i will wait for a little while

I don't think the price goes down, in a long term it will up, I'm telling a lot of years, not just 4, 8, 10...

This guy is doing right, he's not putting all the money in just one thing and that's how you don't go bankrupt if something goes wrong.

If you have a plan to sell them at $5k then I think you need to hold them for a very long time as that high price is not easily achievable, I will be much happy to buy and sell them on regular basis to make quick profits.

I would prefer to invest my bitcoin into good ICOs and hold them for a significant period of time and the consider to sell them for bitcoin once they give me good returns. I will try to convert bitcoin to fiat only if I badly need cash. Otherwise it's a long term investment for me. No price limit given
