The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

unless bitcoin is crashing, or you lose confidence to bitcoin and liquidate all of your holding, you may leave here! Bitcoin now is on the uptrend! I doubt anyone will dump it!  Don't assume none existing things!

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

Yes, to make it more official a signed message is always better.

What does signing a message at this point achieve? The proof that the poster owns the address he's quoting?

Why would he quote someone else's address at this stage?

Obviously he's quoting his own address, whether he's the rightful owner of the account or not.

I think it would be to make sure that the address he posted is actually capable of sending signed messages. Many people use free online-wallet services which keep their private keys(hence not being able to sign messages).

While that might be true, I dont see this as "our" problem anymore. If someone posts an address here and it later turns out that they can not sign a message, well the post here was useless. I would assume that people staking their addresses here for future references thought about this in advance and did a test signing.

Your working on the assumption that the admins actually want to help you get your account back.

Mine was hacked and then sold and so far the admins haven't helped at all after multiple PM's and a thread on the topic

You're assuming that recovery of the account is the only beneficial recourse. Being able to prove that you were the rightful owner of a trustworthy account before it got compromised is also helpful.

I have recently become active again after a long period of inactivity. Cryptographic proof that my account has not been compromised is available.

Also, this is a pretty useful tool if you want to sell an account later on. So this is not useless, at all.
