Hi, I have lost over 300BTC through theft and one 20 minute self destructive gambling spree in the last year or so. If you have a moment to read my account here, I hope to prevent others making the same mistakes as me. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/a-warning-to-you-all.4373/All the best, Dan

As a gambler I know the feeling your going through. I lost a little over 2k at "The Magic" in Mississippi and ended up going to jail there (Harrison Co) which was due to the free drinks you can get at the casino as long as your gambling. I feel your pain man, I really do. I do say this with empathy and no judgemental aspect towards you and I'm sure you have heard it before, Gamble only what you can afford to lose. On that note, I hope you win it all back as well

Hi,
I have lost over 300BTC through theft and one 20 minute self destructive gambling spree in the last year or so.
Oh dear wow dude that is on the side extreme gambling most do not gamble nowhere near that, the most i have seen someone post who has lost was 650btc and now another 300btc that is crazy amounts to be putting into gambling sites. Hope that does not get you to down and you can bounce back, i don't mean play and try and win but move on with your life and forget gambling because the feeling must suck. Thanks for the warning for myself and others good luck with whatever you choose.

Your the smartest man I've seen today Gambling is a addiction due to the release of dopeamine and adrenaline you get while gambling. Basically the human body's way of producing cocaine. Been on that too. Same rush from both. I know how addicting gambling can be. Just the thoughts of all that money you could win. Your bad days will come and go, and that's part of it. But I am glad you decided to quit gambling. You indeed sir are a smart man.

The thing that I find really scary is that I had no previous track record of gambling until very recently.
At a guess, half a dozen fairly successful sessions and then one morning, in twenty minutes, its gone!
I never craved gambling..I found it fun. Until I got involved in crypto, I had barely placed a bet in my life. Crypto makes it very easy to lose your money gambling.
The Darkcoin community have been really supportive. I'm also lucky to have good friends and an amazing wife.

Sorry for your loss op. Few years back an old gambler told me to first buy everything you need for the month (i was a student back then) and then come here in casino, and play your heart out if u will. Sadly that happened after i lost about 1200 EUR, that i shouldnt loose, it was my rent, my food money, and everything for 3 months, but the lady luck didnt turn back on me, with 200 EUR i had left, i got to about 1000 EUR, so the loss was only ~200EUR in the end. I never made the same mistake again. Gambling aint can be fun if youre doing it right, even when ure loosing, just dont loose what u cant afford.
cheers

Thats because of the dopeamine and adrenaline your body releases. Its own way of making you "High" Since your involved in crypto, and I'm assuming that you love crypto, this is where you got addicted. Your love for something made it so wonderful that you lost alot, because of your cryptorush. You could play with cash at a casino and never get the rush you was looking for like when you played with cryptocurrencies. Also, I highly suggest anybody gambling should do this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0;topicseenThat is a thread to post your address incase your bct account is stolen. Most stolen accounts I can see come from gamblers. Just a way to make sure you are who you say you are Hope it helps someone.

I am sorry for your loss, I had the same situation, I lost 60 BTC on altcoin trading, now I don't touch them. It's dangerous, most of them are scams. Generally, trading is also gambling to me, even has higher risk than gambling.

The main reason why people lose in gambling is because they take small winners and huge losses. Its human emotional and greed that causes this.
Every losing gambler will tell you that.

well, youre not alone, i also have lost between 300-400 btc, and currently own 0.1... I suppose I would be happy if bitcoin were to crash to $1.. However, I still consider buying at this level.. What puts me off somewhat is the knowlege that, having coins again I may just end up gambling it all away again.
I think a wallet app that can limit the payments sent for a time period would help some people perhaps.

That's what I always tell people. Pick an amount of money you can lose, part with it before you start to gamble and whether you win or lose walk away with no regrets. Worst thing you can do is enter a casino with expectations, plans how to spend the money you want to win. At least it didn't break you, OP and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I get a little annoyed (well, only for a minute ) at myself when I lose $50 during my gambling endeavours, so I can only imagine the pain you're going through right now. @OP: Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about this situation? I know you're probably feeling really shitty & really bad about everything right now, but I'd like to get inside the big stakes gambling mind for just a second... What portion of your bankroll was your final bet & what exactly did you bet on? How much had you won before you went on your losing streak? And finally, the main question... you were playing DirectBet, right? Why on your final bet did you go for the dice? Why didn't you make a sports pick, something that is 100% truly, undoubtedly by any stretch of the imagination, fair? (I know DB is provably fair, but there is the tiny chance that we've all been lied to about what "provably fair" in general actually is)

There really is something to no-limit currency. You can do anything with it instantly.
Gambling is a human behavior dating back 1000's years. Much like drinking alcohol, many humans enjoy doing so, but some do so to excess. This doesn't mean we shouldn't make beer.

As Micon wisely said gambling and in particular sportsbetting can be enjoyed as a recreational activity in moderation and don't get yourself in a bind by having unrealistic expectations and betting excessive amounts of money.

Gamblers think they have the intention of winning but they really there for the losing. Reading your circumstance makes me happy that I am currently only down 20 BTC but I've lost a lot more fiat than your 300 BTC. Gamblers never stop the more you win the more you lose maybe the best thing is not to start in the first place.

He wasn't lucky in the slightest. He used a glitch to see the server seed and cheated his way to the huge amounts of bitcoins in the end. And in my opinion sportsbetting is a better choice to gamble but people prefer dice sites cause it's much more simple to use.

People don't need to stop playing on dice sites but people with addictive personality’s should definitely limit their self because it is so easy to get carried away and lose a small fortune. But if you play within your limits all gambling can be fun just some discipline is needed.

On the contrary, they tried it again. I remember reading about it somewhere in the PD thread that he came back and tried the same thing, but PD team was ready and locked the funds before they was able to withdraw. I'm sure PD is making so much cash that even 2000BTC is just a minor setback.

Fuck me, you have a gambling problem mate. Seek help immediatley, maybe you are rich but 300 BTC is a fucking lot of money.. Especially if it's during the year when it's been up a bit, can't really feel sorry for you but hope it didn't ruin your life.
It's just as easy with fiat on slots though, you can bet €5k and quickspin takes 3 sec, 5k again, easy €200k lost in a minute if unlucky every spin..

If you can't lose big, don't bet big.
I have to jump in here and ask what are you on about? At what point did the op say he couldn't lose big, i think you will find that is exactly what he done was lose big. The best thing is to not bet at all why bother thinking you are going to be different to the millions of other gambling losers around the world? There will be no difference you bet big you lose big, you bet small you lose small, you bet fast you lose fast you bet slow you lose slow every gambler unless they cheat will lose in the end. Heed the ops warnings.

Honestly i fell like dice is only for addicts or people who think they are going to get rich because whats the fun of dice? Bet low or high all the time, thats no fun unless you seek the adrenaline but for me fun gambling games are poker or blackjack, of course you want to make money there too but at least there is a strategy some skill and it is fun to play even when you lose, when you lose at dice its not fun, at all..

Yes, this what people always talks about, we all know that, but the truth is how exactly many people can follow the rule? Gambling is addictive, people who is addictive with gambling all need a lesson, like this, finally OP loss big money, this is the best way to keep them away from gambling.

This was really the point of me sharing on this thread. I was not a habitual gambler and until becoming involved in crypto had barely placed a bet in my life. I have no idea what happened to me when I made my big loss. It just seemed to happen. I just lost control and the whole thing is a haze. Its scary because I was not somebody who gambles regularly or with large amounts. Anyway, thanks for the messages of support. I do appreciate them. As for the warnings of not betting more than I can afford to lose and other pearls of wisdom...bit too late for me but thanks anyway For the record, at today's prices, I'm down £116,000 from that single flurry of madness.

I'm sorry for your loss mate!! this whole crypto-currency keeps making me feel like it's not real money because of how easy it is to just put a simple number and press 'roll'. I myself know the thrill and rush and sweaty palms too well rolling online, and havn't lost nearly as much as you have, maybe around ~$800. Thus this year I will not be taking a trip to Vegas or anywhere much. It's like crypto is not real money... it's like when I used to play Neopets (like some just-dice users know), and we bonded over how we treat crypto somewhat like a game currency you buy and play with. Neopets had a currency called Neopoints, and they had slot machines, wheels, scratch cards, I feel like that's what i'm doing most of the time, and then come late to realize... i paid for these bitcoins with real money, and i lost real money.

Depends, are you gambling on dice or sports because on sports you can definitely make profit even in the long term.

It will be good if we actually get some profit from gambling, but the house wins almost all the time, you need to be super lucky for that, all that happens should remain history, it is a lesson for you to actually not gamble high amount

Gambling is addictive and can cause losses to you eventually. It would be best to quit gambling.

For the majority of people, I agree. Though there's people out there that can control gambling and just do it every so often for some fun.

You probably have more fairer odds on the horses. That's where my money goes, pokies/slots, roulette, poker, etc don't phase me, betting on an animal gives you more chance

That's where my money goes, pokies/slots, roulette, poker, etc don't phase me, betting on an animal gives you more chance That is quite true especially if you go to the track and bet on them live that is a nice day out, i have a horse racing track at the end of my road and a dog racing track about a 5minute walk away. To be honest i don't use them as much as i used to but they are a good day/night at the dogs Hows it been going since your loss op have you managed to get back on track and not let it get you down to much? Hope so.
