I see the Wiki page added for that was a duplicate of an existing article so I merged in the changes. - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoins_In_BerlinI see the exchange site shows "SEPA, bank transfer" as two separate values. Does that mean there is an accepted bank transfer option other than SEPA? Is EUR the only currency accepted for cash-in-the-mail and in-person trades? (your competition in a nearby country accepts USD, GBP, and more.) For the Western Union and Moneygram, are those EUR or might those be USD instead or in addition to EUR? How about cash-out methods. How are funds (fiat) delivered? such as: - Cash, in-person? - Cash sent by mail (if so, to where?) - Western Union? - Mt. Gox redeemable code (EUR)? - SEPA bank transfer? - Any other method? The site has links to btc.to address shortener. You may wish to make those SSL (e.g. https:// ). Actually your site contents could be easily altered enroute and the link replaced entirely, so you may wish to add SSL to your site itself. Either way, are you sure you want to provide a static Bitcoin address? You could get into the situation where someone monitors that address (e.g., adds the address to blockchain.info/wallet to obtain notification) then contacts you with cash-out instructions. You'ld probably become aware of the problem before sending fiat funds to the wrong party but this just introduces an incompatible transfer method.

I have tried to amend the page to adress your concerns. I hope you will find it sufficient. As for your remarks regarding the static adress - well, there's always the option to generate a new adress for every deal but having one "vanity" adress that's recognizable seemed to be in order. Since this (and bitcoincommodities) is a one-person hackjob, everything on this side is done manually so i guess it's hard for anyone to truly spoof me.

BitcoinCommodities.com updated websites, better pricing, better shipping options. dropshipping via APMEX possible. due to being caught in the wake of a subnet block after a DDoS (my guess, at least), we had to move servers and are operating in an iframe. store works a usual, though.
Bitcoinsinberlin bitcoins are available as well at mtgox_ask+5% western union (temporarily?) not available, they're being dicks if you do too much business, it seems.

To all customers who sent cash and might be worried about their coinage being delayed:
I just had to (for the first time) reach for my backup stash, which took a while to load. All of today's payments have been made, all correspondence has been taken care of.
Please proceed as usual.

Does anyone else find it extremely sketchy that this nosey bastard wants your date of frickin' birth just to check out? I use Bitcoins largely for their increased level of anonymity (to the extent you can have something physically shipped to you "anonymously" ). Not so I can give anyone that hacks you a simple one-click identity theft of all your customers. You just lost a $600 order, friend. Let me know if you wise up, because you have a good storefront - But damn me if I'll give you more than my shipping and email addresses.
|
I don't beg - If I do something to deserve your BTC, you can find my address on the invoice.

Seems this is the standard configuration of osCommerce regarding those things. Since I rarely order at my own site (and if I do, I use the same old fake-acc over and over), this hasn't even crossed my mind. So apart from your language, which I finde slightly offensive, your input is appreciated. I'll try to configure the store in a way that asks for as little info as possible. Just to reciprocate on the helpfulness: You are aware that you are not in any way obliged to give me your REAL birthday and phone number? EDIT: date of birth and telephone number are no longer required (if they are designated as required, the minimum length is NULL).

My apologies - I meant that a bit tongue-in-cheek (I promise I'd say something less... delicate... than "nosey bastard" if I really wanted to get nasty ), though my concerns I did mean sincerely. Seriously awesome customer service right there - Within a day of my having a bit of a rant, you corrected the problem. Kudos, and thanks for taking the time to address this. You've fixed my objection, tomorrow I'll place an order with you - If you'll still have me as a customer, of course!

We are experiencing an issue with our mtgox pricing API. Wether MtGox switched it off again, or if the lag is too big, or if we got caught in the DDoS filter again - not sure.
Until this is resolved, bitcoincommodities.com has disabled its inventory.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

I'm a sucker for a variety of coins, any idea if you will have more silver stock soon? Also as i PM'ed you, are all coins brand new 2013 unless otherwise listed? That's pretty much all I carry, since most ppl want the standard coins. All coins random year unless stated otherwise.

That's 10X faster than Coinabul. Heh. I am sure Coinabul is doing a good job altogether. There are always a very low percentage of shipments that simply go wrong. I've had for example one shipment destined for France go to Italy, and I am also currently lagging on fulfilment quite a couple of days. Most of this lag can be attributed that I have had more sales last month than the whole year 2012 and got completely sold out TWICE (yes, It tend to keep low inventory). The Bitcoin-Central hack and the fact that MtGox is behind almost 100k in SEPA withdrawals only adds to that. I am working as hard as I humanly can to ship as fast as possible. If you have any complaints or questions, please PM or eMail me. note: I do not take coqui's comment to be a complaint, just sayin'.

That is correct. It was not meant as a complaint--simply a report. IMHO, you are to be commended for keeping up with PM sales that have boomed since the fall in gold prices. My only suggestion (which I also mentioned in an email) is that it might be worthwhile to devise a way of notifying your customer when Apmex ships, so that we can be sure to have someone on site to receive the order.

Also in stock are the legendary .999 Silver Bitcoins, both Series A and Series B. The .999 Silver Bitcoins Series A are limited to 1000 pieces (the dies have been destroyed!). The .999 Silver Bitcoins Series A are limited to 1300 pieces.
What proof can you offer that the dies are destroyed? I'm not trying to pick on you, I have about 20 of these coins and I would like to know who made them and how the die got destroyed, and how they are valuable?

Dear Customers,
the website bitcoincommodites.com uses the MtGox exchange rate to display the price of products in Bitcoin.
Some of you have already noticed that there are significant price differences from the advertised price on the site and the price billed at checkout by BitPay.
This has the following background:
MtGox has halted USD withdrawals for two weeks.
Following this, BitPay has removed MtGox from its pool of market places used to find the "right" price for the USD/BTC pair.
However, you will also find that the BTC price on MtGox is significantly higher than on other exchanges. This is because many people are using their MtGox funds to buy Bitcoins only to withdraw them to another exchange to sell them for USD there. This would explain the difference in price from the advertised products to the price billed at checkout.
Sadly, BitPay doesn't offer an API to access their USD/BTC rates, as they are determined at each checkout instance.
I have already contacted them and I hope they will provide us with an API soon-ish so as to not confuse customers and provide stability and reliability in pricing.
Here's the MtGox statement: https://mtgox.com/press_release_20130620.html
Here's how BitPay calculates their prices: http://blog.bitpay.com/2013/06/important-update-on-bitpay-exchange.html
Please do not hesitate to email me with further questions.
Regards, Dennis Daiber Chief Everything Officer of Bitcoincommodities.com

I'm surprised there is no global price service based on something like sum(volume*price)/totalvolume
you could calculate that number if you wanted, but the crux here ist find someone who will actually process your BTC at that price. reading bitpay's explanation of price finding, I find their approach makes the most sense.

I doub it. Remember the basic principle...buy low...sell high... What is really happening is that people are purchasing bitcoins in MtGox in order to transfer out their USD funds in the form of bitcoins...

They're buying BTC at MtGox to withdraw them. The only difference in our statements is that I assume that many of those BTC get sold at other exchanges for USD (because they HAVE to... better pay 10% than risk another 20% price drop, amirite?).

My experience with these players has been A+. Their website works well and is intuitive, their communication is excellent (order status, for example, is regularly updated according to where you are in the process via email and in your account history), their shipping is fast and packaged well, and the precious metal is legit.
Can't really ask for much more than that.
Thank you 2weiX and team!

hi 2weiX, any news on also selling palladium/platinum? Hi, that's probably not going to happen any time soon. This is mostly because even the bigger local sellers only have limited stock and I cannot exercise control over far-away dropshippers such as APMEX. This would expose me to the risk of selling stuff that isn't in stock. I could always do custom orders, however.

Two exciting news on MARCH 24th, 2014
I will be able to offer UPS shipping within the EU now, at roughly 1/3 to 1/4 the price of FedEx shipments.
I am also VERY close to accepting four dozen Altcoins. For this, I need willing subjects with obscure coins who would like to try out buying some Gold or Silver with their currency.
Please PM me your currency of choice and we'll make arrangements for a test buy. Looking forward!

Y Not Silver Eagles available? And neither maples? Germany has changed taxation of silver coins this year. Coins that were bought last year are only resellable ONCE since there is a special taxation trick to deal with them. This makes it almost impossible to acquire normally taxed silver coins for resale, since 99.9% of all coins that are available in Germany are tainted with this special taxation. I just went live with the bitcoin.de goldshop and will now decidedly look for a reliable supplier for large quantities of silver coins.

I bought several times at bitcoincommodities last year and wanted to order again, but whats up with the bitcoin prices? They seem way too high. For example 1oz gold philharmonic is listed with 998.4€ or 1250.1$ or 3.8373 BTC. That implies a BTCUSD of 325,78 and a BTCEUR of 260,18. Bitcoinaverage is at 383$ and 308€. Bitpay BBB is at 384$ and 306€. Where does that huge difference come from?
A 1oz phil should cost about 3.25 BTC not 3.84 BTC, thats 18% above market prices. As a customer you sometimes get a discount when using bitcoin, not a premium of 18%. Or are the displayed prices completely broken?

Probably should remove that banner... maybe you can go through Shapeshift? I'm trying to set something up, but I have limited time (and to be honest - in the whole time I accepted Altcoins, I had ONE order that wasn't paid with BTC). So for the time being - bitcoin only.

I was a bit surprised by the lack of a thread about Bitcoincommodities, given that they are backed by / related to Bitcoin.de. The prices are fairly reasonable, above the fiat seller prices, but much better than Bitgild.
I made an order yesterday and have received a few updates since then. I am looking forward to my delivery and will post to say how everything goes. It is a bit scary sending fairly large amounts of money to small Bitcoin businesses online, but Bitcoincommodities seem legit.

You are worried with good reason, each time you do a transaction like this, there is the counter party risk that the receiver of your bitcoins is not going to send you the gold or silver you ordered. Fortunately with Bitcoincommodities, there is always clear communitation of what is happening to your order: BitPay BTC paid Order has been paid. (not confirmed) PAID (BitPay BTC complete) Order has been completly paid. Order forwarded to distributor. And there is always tracking once the distributor takes over... But it would be nice to go to a counter, see the gold, send the BTC, wait until 6 confirmation drinking some tea and take the gold home and not having to worry about the whole chain set in motion. But that is what you get for the convenience of ordering online

Don't talk trash. My requests which I wrote to your e-mail and web interface have never been answered. The fact that you answer here but not in your shop makes the whole situation not less suspicious.
I don't work for any other gold shop. But as your reliablilty is questionable and you are asking for it... I finally bought at Bitgild.com and am very statisfied.

Like I dont have internet "in my shop".
If you have internet "in your shop" then why don't you answer or process your clients requests?

If you have internet "in your shop" then why don't you answer or process your clients requests? I do, to the tune of millions of euro each year. I am really sorry that of all the messages and emails it had to be YOUR messages that were lost in the ether or caught in Google's spamfilter or God-knows-what. To all others: The website is running, and all orders and requests are processed as quickly as possible. Thanks for stopping by!
