Bitcoin has become an obsession for many people. Whether its investing, selling, gambling, or making purchases with it, Bitcoin has certainly become this trend that is much larger than it was years ago. Personally, Bitcoin has been a rollercoaster for me. There are times where I am up 9k in profit, only to be scammed by a professional for 6k. In other words, sometimes I am on top of the world thinking Bitcoin is going to make me an insane amount of profit, only to be let down feeling like I am going to lose every single dime I have because I am putting way too much hope in Bitcoin. At this very moment, I am in the process of disbanding my business accounts, and filing a certificate of disclosure. This isn't to say I have lost hope in Bitcoin, I just simply think there are too many faults that still exist with it. Even with a professionally typed paid FinCEN policy reviewed by 3 companies, scammers have still found a way to literally go above and beyond to steal money. I was involved with trading and selling, and its just got to a point where the risks were not worth the reward. I hope many of you have had more success than I! I've tried out some small gambling techniques as well, and of course that was a major failure. BTCJAM was great until multiple users defaulted on their loans. Then I tried one of the most recommended cloud mining services only to find out it was a ponzi scam and lost out on more coin from them. My last resort was to add a bitcoin faucet to my website, but there are just far too many to compete with, and the advertisement costs to draw attention were just to much for it to be worth it. I could have had the opportunity to retrieve about $2,000 from some scammers, but for me to hire a lawyer, travel to another state for a court date, it becomes too expensive and not worth it in some cases where you are scammed.

My best advice for anyone seriously getting involved with Bitcoin is the key word "money management". You might get to a point where your operation with whatever it is could be rolling in some serious money. Don't get greedy! Thats what I did. Never put in more money that your comfortable losing. If you are happy to invest $1,000 knowing it could be gone, then set that limit until you are comfortable risking a little more. For me personally, I was rewarded very fast with Bitcoin in the beginning. Then I started to purchase more, do bigger volumes of trades, and then boom, you wake up one day and your profits and bitcoin is gone from a hacker/scammer. Every person is different, every one also takes different risks and assessments when it comes to Bitcoin. All in all, has bitcoin ruined your life, or has it made your life better?

I used MtGox but withdrew my funds months before the site started to experience problems.  Stayed away from obvious scams like PireateAt40.  Was a lucky BFL customer and got to use some Jalapenos before they became worthless.  Lost a bit in gambling.  Made some money investing at Just-Dice.  Sold out some coins far too early, sold some right at $1000 peak. 

I'm reluctant to trust any business with my bitcoins simply because it appears far too easy for them to say 'oops, hax, LOL!' and disappear with the funds.

of course it helped me a lot, and not only economically, but it helped me to learn, how corrupt is the whole fiat system, and how it should be removed altogether and replaced with a decentralized system like bitcoin

also it helped me understand about cryptographic in general, i wasn't too much into it before bitcoin

ahh, even I lost a lot in last years, I still have to say helped.

I start being interested in linux, start learning everything from scratch and now managing hundreds of linux servers:) anyway, I lost money with gox, bfl, blackarrow in last years, on other hand I sold lot of bitcoins at 980, when I bought them at 60.

Nothing for the moment
I mean I wasen't hear on the MtGox thing , or the ~1200$ pump , and since I'am just a teenager who don't really need money , I'am buying now and holding few years and we will see what happens , but most likely it will be "Helped" if price rise with the halving block reward and if bitcoin dies before dies then it will be "waste of time" instead of "ruin your life" instead for me ;D

Bitcoin helped me out, especially for economic and financial, I learn more about economics, currency, crypto, and about technology.

I'm just freelancer and if I don't have a jobs to do, I work for bitcoin.

It definitely helped me learn a lot of new things which otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to learn, such as linux, gpg etc. I wish I had known about bitcoin when it was really cheap and then it would have helped me financially and the sad part is I was active on internet then but somehow didn't hear about it.

I wouldn't say I know how it feels but I can understand your pain and I empathize with you. I have had similar setbacks with bitcoin but really, really profitable deals too. I have been trading bitcoins from 2 years and I have never let any other company fuck around my bitcoins, they have always stayed safe inside my wallet with my love and attention. Faucets have always been shitty and I have tried gambling twice, lost huge twice. Since then, I only trade and manage my finances.

I would say it has helped me a lot. It has opened my eyes to alot i just wasn't interested in before.
Not just with btc but all money markets i have become interested in now.

I once lost about $8 in btc to a blockchain wallet hack and ever since then i just wanted to learne more about security of bitcoins.
I even purchased a Mycelium entropy usb just so i could have 100% safe paper wallets and also print some for friends and try get them into it.
Its been a great rollercoaster over the last 1 to 2  yeas i have been into btc and i've loved it.

as i didn't came to know about this digital currency in it's early stages, so i think it ruined my life. LOL.  ;D

it helped me, it will help my future too, because i found it like quite useful tool rather than investment.

I wont complain, i got to mine a little in mid 2013 and i still have some, i did managed to get a good cash out on the 2013 spike to make my family life better but i do find my self more in the computer now then back in 2013 looking for new investment opportunities based on bitcoin.

I guess there are no people around here saying that bitcoin ruin their life, all of them must be helped with this, plus with bitcoin we can learn many things and it can be knowledge for us too. And my answer here is bitcoin really help me until now, it never dissapointed me at once, except about the gambling things  ;D

Faucets currently are a total waste of time. They take up too many resources and don't earn me as much, atleast that is the case for me, might be different with others. I have had losses in bitcoin also but to the grace of god, I have sprung up with twice better results and my investments have always benefit me. I am happy with my decisions, and positive about the future of bitcoin!

ups and downs, never a large amount of money though so not that much of a bad time.  It's the altcoins which are the dangerous ones!

At the beginning it kind of ruined me, knowing I could have been a young rich kid if I invested in early 2012 when I first heard about it. But nowadays, I managed to stack up a couple of BTC with tons of effort, and feel god for the future. Owning entire BTC units already sets you apart and ahead of the pack. If you are here for the mega long term then you'll know that feel. It still sucks not being able to enjoy massive purchasing power right now tho.

Thanks for all the replies. I shouldn't say I am ruined, I am more discouraged and disappointed that I am not doing as well as I used to. With this all being said, we live and learn, and hopefully things will turn around by the end of the year.

Thank you for your advice, I agree with money management and what you've been through. But for me, I'm no big investor like you, I'm doing bitcoin not for just profit but for my own personal interest and enjoyment. And I think bitcoin has helped me a lot since I first started, because I gained so many knowledge of this digital world and really got to understand of what our future holds in currency. Bitcoin is not like any other investment I did, bitcoin is original and it's the first ever cryptocurency. It's helped me, and I believe it's helped you as well. Thank you for sharing

Yeah! I too can say that Bitcoin really worked for me. It is the best option at the moment. I have financially grown and feel secure. The risk are as many as we have with any other financial sector.

it helped me when it rised at 1200, i was there , and i was lucky to register to this forum around that time
with some giveaway that were still allowed in the early 2014, i pioneered that i could see some money by dumping them on exchange
and so it was, i dumped some pos coin to gian some altcoin, then i dumped for cash

Bitcoin currently is neutral to me. I'm still in profit but was massively in profit like 10X when bitcoin was at its peak. I'm holding any way and I think the value will go back up and to in excess of its current all time high over over $1000 but we just need patience.

I invested in bitcoin because my brother used to have an interest in bitcoin, and I had a massive business loss in bitcoin. The bitcoin shoot up in 2009 helped me literally multiply my investments in it by 200%. I have always loved bitcoin and whatever it has done for me, I will always have patience and gratitude for bitcoin and believe it will grow 10 times more than it is, in the next 10 years itself :D

Bitcoin has helped a lot of individuals, I know a friends who was is an investor and and entrepreneur. He himself introduced me to bitcoins. He always had an eye for new tech and invested in btc when it was pretty new. He invested that kind of money which wouldn't affect his life if he lost it. Fortunately for him, his investment doubled with time and he's doing really well :)

Bitcoin has only had a positive impact on my life. I have lost a lot of money through bitcoin but gained 10 times more through bitcoin. Mining was never worth it, gambling was good but I lost money in it and it was risky. I kept a few bitcoin and never touched them and they grew into a much big capital. I have high hopes for future of bitcoin and have made it as my retirement plan ;)

Well if you planned to use bitcoin as your retirement plan, maybe its better to you do investment with your bitcoin than keep it and wait the price raise to the moon. You can invest it in case you want higher profit than keep it.

yeah, you can buy stocks with your bitcoin and invest in other things. Money just pours in then. Its all about right investments at the right time and for a right time. Always keep checking where your money is and how is it doing :)

yes, most people just invest their money in 5-6 different ventures and forget about it. I have also made similar mistakes but learnt from them. I always follow my investments now and deal with that shit accordingly. Its fun after a time :D

Yes, Bitcoin is my retirement plan, but not the only one ;) I have used btc to invest in stock too, and my plan is to keep it in the wallet till it grows out and the price raise 'to the moon'. They say that sky is the limit but why should I stop if there are foot prints on the moon? :P I have faith in my investments and my decisions and hope everything turns out good for all of us :)

Yes its true trading can earn you a lot of profit too and dont forget about altcoin too, some people say that using mining altcoin is a great way to earn your bitcoin too if you pick a right choice ;D

It is hard to talk about bitcoin as it has only 1 [good] and 0 [negative] influence on our lives. It is not that simple. Bitcoin on its own is great new achievement and invention which can potentially change world and money. How it can be bad? It is people who became corrupted by it, the same as people are corrupted by greed, it has nothing to do with bitcoin or gold or FIAT. In short Bitcoin is good - people are bad.

i learned more about life thr btc than any school. u get to see the nature of humans, the good and the bad.  get to learn how money and corruption works. u get to see how brainwash the mainstream truly is.  learn how to invest better.  the diversity  in the btc community  , u dont get that anywhere else ,we see more different shit,we learn more shit.  amen to bitcoin

I can't say 'been there, done that' but I feel  you, bro. Shit happens. My condolences. I would say that Bitcoin has helped me learn a lot of things about currency, finance, economics that I wouldn't even bother to understand. I wish I had known about it earlier too.

This has happened with many people. They have been at their best and also at their worst with bitcoin . I'm sorry you had to go through that. But as much as bitcoin ruins you , it also  helps you twice more than your ruins. Personally it has helped me learn a lot of things about economics and finance that I never know . So it has definitely made my life better.

Bitcoin can be a wonderful thing if you pursue it wonderfully, it would be really terrible if you keep self doubting bitcoins as well yourself and your own decisions. I've been in that negative place and it has ruined a lot of things for me personally. It makes you feel very terrible and low and you don't want that. Making something a success takes many many knock backs to get to, the so called times that have ruined ones life are a valuable lesson for the next stages of ones life. Learn and move on don't hold onto negative thoughts and experiences.

You are right about it can become an obsession because it was for me but I realised it was becoming a problem so spent less time at the computer and more time living, enjoying life with family. Moderation is key to all things including bitcoin.

All in all it has helped me and my life, I believe in bitcoin and I've gained a easier life because of it so cheers for the future.

I think it would be smart to say that discipline is the key to life. I have divided my daily life about how much tiem I would give to my work, fam, hobbies and other investment and profit, extra business things. That would be smart to say discipline is the key, sounds like you are doing what you need to so it doesn't become an obsession and a drain on real life and the relationships you share. Yes, I would completely agree to that. Discipline is the key to success and a good life. Obsession leads nowhere. I have always been obsessive about what is mine, even in relationships and it has not given me a nice end result. So I live life with no expectations from anybody, but try to provide my level best and to grow individually. So far, so good :) :)

Its true. In every part of life you will need to be discipline in order to get what you want. Same as when you are getting some money you need discipline to save more money rather than using it for having fun or gambling waste it just for fun. I get the impression that you are merely a trader that speculates on any asset that has enough volatility. You are measuring profits in fiat - so you don't care about Bitcoin at all. Most trader-type speculators will loose in the end, because they use unscientific methods (chart "analysis") and can't control their emotions - even realizing that on a rational level does not help much.

For a Bitcoin hodler, life is easy: You know you own the best currency and asset (two-in-one!) in the world, so you have zero inclination to buy other stupid things (fiat money, for example). You can just lean back, relax, and watch Bitcoin flourish.

What do you mean? With a good analysis I think they can get a good profit although all of it is just some speculation but most of them are making profit through the graphic anlysis and chart. And bitcoin holder most of them are having good fiat to turn into bitcoin and wait them to raise, if later the price just stay the same or lower they will not suffer much, but with specualtion trader, they use this as their earning to get some profit, learn how to read graphic and doing some analysis will make them more richer than people having rich fiat. Both of them are on contrary

I had purchased a few coins at $10 per coin in 2012. I held on to my coins even when the exchange rate peaked at $1,200 in 2013 December. But things changed in April 2014, when I lost my job. There were some unexpected emergencies, and I had to sell most of my coins (at $300 per coin). Without those coins, I might have committed suicide.  ???

Cryptocurrency has become an obsession to me! My first thoughts about Bitcoin were that it was nothing more than a Ponzi scheme. But when I took some time to read Satoshi Nakamoto Whitepaper I understood what it really was. Since then I've worked tirelessly to help cryptocurrencies grow steady and go mainstream. Today I'm proud to say that all of my income comes from digital currencies.
Bitcoin brought us a whole new Labor Industry and I'm proud to be a part of it!

well those that bought at 1200 and now are struggling in waiting for the price to recover, have not a great day i'm sure

some of those have sold their house and went all-in with bitcoin, there are numerous stories about this on bitcointalk

so it is clear that ome life were ruined byt that manipulated pump, but it's not a bitcoin fault, one should only invest tiny portion everytime we rise, and not going all-in directly at the peak...

yeah one can argue that you can not know if that was the peak, but it was clear also, that after a furious pump like that there must be a crash

After Liberty Reserve and all that HYIP investing, HYIP was greatly affected by the loss of LR so I decided to go back in paypal and dealt with their limitations and other BS. Then someone introduced bitcoin to me. I find it interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. I really regret the time I stopped mining bitcoin at its early stages. But even though I'm a bit late, bitcoin still help me with alot of stuff.

Unless you are not aware yet, most of those who bough at $1200 could have dumped their BTC already when the price crashed. There is a tiny chance that someone will hold all of it despite the price has been cut off by atleast over 50 % .
Actually There are alot of chances to recover by riding on waves but unfortunately not many people know this and basically dumping or holding will be either of their options . Riding on waves is pretty much different than day trading though

On the other hand the "manipulated price" is not the sole fault for their tragedy because they do create their own misery by joining in to buy at the peak blindly. These people deserve this so called "fate" because they are lack of their own due dilligence and greedy enough to join in the peak rally and hope to be rich overnight

Bitcoin definitely helped me in many ways. It gave me knowledge , the right kind of research and analysis. Bitcoin has always proved to be one of the biggest helping hand without charging anything. No greedy eye on your assets. Do anything with your bitcoin.Maintain and stabilise them , they're gonna prove to be really useful in near future.

It ruined my life because it's affect my work :P When I introduced to bitcoin I used to work on method of earnings bitcoin while working. The result ? I always come home late because I cant finished my paperworks early than usual when I dont know about bitcoin.

And yes it helps my life too in many ways. It saves me from goddamn PTC's that you will spend 1month just to make 1dollar. And there is an online wallet provider here in PH that gives services in exchange of bitcoin like paying bills , instant cashout in some of the ATM machines etc.

It helped me to learn about economics and trading. Before Bitcoin I would hardly pay attention to all those since news. Post Bitcoin I always pay attention since everything is connected. Everything that happens in the fiat world has a side effect in Bitcoin, therefore you better remain informed.

Oh and one I forgot. It help me because I have idea now about what is market now a little bit thru trading. Economics , currencies , stock market , prices etc. all of this term come to my mind now. And by browsing to this forum everyday , it gained me some knowledge about what bitcoin really is.

 same here. I never really paid heed to economics and trading and all that stuff.  But since I camee to know bitcoin , it has influenced me for better. I came to learn of so many things I would never think of. Economics is gradually becoming my favorite subject because of that.

Yeah Bitcoin can never ruin anyone's life. It have surely helped me in my life as it has become an alternative source of income for me. As I was not satisfied with the salary that I earn but Bitcoin added value to my income and I am enjoying my life with bitcoins.

Well I don't give Bitcoin that much priority in my life that it can control my emotions. I just simply look at it as a tool. I am not concerned about anything happened in the bitcoin network.

You will feel regret someday if you don't pay attention what is happening with bitcoin or what the factor that affect bitcoin price. It will be useless if you get much bitcoin in future but the price has went down and you didn't aware about it. I bet you never tell your friends about bitcoin.

seriously? you can sustain your live with faucets only... the only way would be through a bot and using a service for resolving captcha, but even then you need plenty of very good faucets like freebitco.in and all with 1k per hour reward or more

Yeah then I think you should concentrate on your job if you are not concerned with the the bitcoin network. And yes it hasn't ruined my life as well it has helped me out in earning some extra money which is adding value to my standard of living which was not possible with the salary that I am earning.

It depends on how you use Bitcoin, if you buy bitcoins and betting in casinos Bitcoin, do not believe that it can help you in life. But if you're using smart Bitcoin and if you earn, then this is a good thing in your life.

Many of people are addicted to gambling and everyone wants to get rich quickly. So they choose gambling as they feel that one day they would grab the jackpot and become millionaire in a single day but that is simply not possible.

It actually help me out, cause I was actually seeing a documentary at the time.

And it was based on the recent bail out with the 2008 financial mess, and felt theres no resolution until I saw bitcoin.  :)

It help my life. Bitcoin saves me from goddamn PTC sites that earns you $1 in 2 months which you are not sure if it that PTC site will last for 2 months. I used to click in 10 ptc sites back to the days when I dont know anything about bitcoin.

I still remain neutral. My life hasn't changed much. I've made some BTC, but I wasn't there to buy at the right moment and selling at the right time.
Our only chance unless other lucky strikes are meet, is BTC going to 10+K over the course of the next 10 years, and selling some (not all) of it at ther ight time during a mega bubble, then buying back as it recovers again.
Then again, to make interest out of that money one would need to convert to fiat and pay taxes... fml.

What you are saying is exactly correct, the people who have bought it for the higher prices wouldn't be satisfied at present with the current prices of the bitcoins.

But who entered lately when the prices were low, they still have hope that prices will go high and they can make some profit out of it, and those who have bought for higher prices have only one option left to wait n watch n sell it when the right time comes.

Overall helped as I enjoy playing with it.  I am in it for the long term, so not selling all the time.  It's not effected be in any bad ways.

I could see how the ones that invested a lot at 1k per could have hurt them financially.  But even then I'm not sure it could have ruined their life.  You should never invest more then you can loose.

It is helping everyone I guess who holds the bitcoin even if it is least amount. I personally feel that It has added value to my earnings. As it is like part time earnings for me where I can take care of my basic stuffs keeping my salary intact. Where I can invest my part of my salary into bitcoins every month.

I pay for electricity out of my BTC.  This keeps it accountable where one day if BTC drops really low.... I didn't lose a ton of money on electricity.  I run a decent amount off miners so that could be a loss that would hurt my life.

Some miners I have paid for with Fiat.  So I could possibly lose that I guess.  But  I try to keep it long term on most of my bitcoin.

so far overall a net negative. I can't spend it or hold it really. I can't spend because nobody takes it, I can't hold it because I fear losing my coins.....

Yes, Bitcoin has really started a movement and more and more people are obsessed with it. I catched myself becoming obsessed and I didn't like the feeling of it. Just looking at the price all the time, reading forums and researching. Than I decided to slow things a bit.

Thanks God, I never had to fight the fight about the money with the Bitcoin. I decided how much to invest and I stick to it. If I wake up tomorrow and all is gone than let it be that way. I think if I've gotten deep regarding finances that I would have gone crazy and gotten out long time ago. Because me and my family have to eat and Bitcoin is still to some degree uncertain.

My first real eye opener was when I was clicking a sexcoin faucet and made 200 bucks selling sexcoins for Bitcoin on Cryptsy, that's when I saw the real potential so started blogging about coins and selling them for Bitcoin..My best ever trade was when I bought 1 btc of Bitcoinplus ICO on Poloniex and sold it for 12 BTC although I could have sold it for 42 BTC, MY bad because I really feel I am a useless day trader lol but that gave me the incentive to launch my own coin to try to solve a predicament. I believe Bitcoin was created to solve a lot of problems. If we can get rid of the scamming and manipulation, Bitcoin can help change many people's lives. I believe Bitcoin has really transformed my life as a Generation X member, it has opened up my life and my thinking out of the box that before in the 80's I never dreamed possible. I could never think that a 49 year old housewife like me could have so much passion for even dreaming about changing the Status Quo.. I may not have gotten rich through Bitcoin..actually I still don't even own one full bitcoin yet although I own perhaps a few in my own digital currency, but I do see hope for future generations and my whole family, including my Son who is 20 now know what Bitcoin is through my own involvement, although half are still not interested or understand the concept behind it yet.. but they will in time.. Wow, you must be closing down a million websites then, because bitcoin as a payment gateway is really rare, compared to so many popular websites. I mined 0.80 BTC over a week in 2012. I forgot about it, and now i found them again, it helped me to buy a SSD for my computer, the remaining bitcoins are saved in my wallet. If only i had kept going.........

Bitcoin is a new technology that is definitely helping me. I have been able to find a way to find work online and build a career in computer programming. I think Bitcoin is definitely going to help my life quite a lot since I only knew about it late last year so I didn't loose too much really getting in/learning to to earn bitcoin. Bitcoin has helped my life a lot. When I bought my first Bitcoin, (Feb 2, 2015) it was worth $225 and now price has increased to $284 which helped me gain some profit. Still, my life has been somewhat ruined because of those greedy scammers in cloud mining world. I've lost a big amount of Bitcoins because of that, but at least I've learned a valuable lesson. After that, I've decided to hold Bitcoins and trade alt coins. Since then, I've been earning good profit, not to mention my earnings from signature campaign as well.  :)

Definitely, not only in financial terms, but also in different knowledge areas specifically economics and politics. Bitcoin opened my eye wider to the things that are actually happening around me. From the greediness of the banks to the overly-obsessed politicians to power, bitcoin helped me see more, see clearer to what is really happening. There is more to bitcoin than just being a financial asset, people. The concept behind it will make you see through what is really happening in our society right now.

Nope Im not interested in gambling. I just play it because I thought I can win big back in my newbie days. Like in a dice. I earned 0.03btc a day using martingale system in my first try. Then eventually after 2 - 3 days playing my whole profit goes to zero. But I learned my lesson now. Now I only bet on sports which has no house edge to beat.

I don't know the game so not really up to date with the rules and regulations of that game, was it important for you to bet all? Go big or go home? Yes I gambled only on Basketball because that is my favorite sport. With my knowledge and some ideas about the team that will play, I can setup my own fearless forecast in that match. If I dont have an idea about both team Im doing research about it before I bet.

The most important thing when you are getting involved in gambling through sports is know exactly who your bookie is, and if he is reliable. I don't see how Bitcoin could ruin your life unless you cause yourself to ruin it using Bitcoin as the medium to do it. As far as myself, it's done nothing but help me, and I'm confident it's done nothing but help all its other users as well. From my standpoint, the ease to accept the currency is great for traders as there are no chargebacks or fees. Using bitcoin to flip to fiat or any other type of good is easy too so there's nothing bad that's happened to me that I didn't cause in terms of BTC.

To be honest with everybody, when I started with Bitcoin in 2013, it didn't exactly ruin my life but wasted a lot of my time. I spent a lot of time clicking faucets to earn dust. I understand that it was my fault that I did this. However, Bitcoin now helps me.

What are you doing now in order to earn bitcoin, are you active in trade markets or do you plan to do anything with a cryptocurrency venture? I think there is profit in investing in bitcoin related business rather than just bitcoin, I have been certified a good investor and I've been making wise decisions lately i guess

I don't know if it helped my life or not, that's a big statement to make but it certainly taught me a new technology and it's great when you talk to your friends and family about it and they look at you like you're talking some alien language when you're trying to explain to them how it works and what it is. Ever since I have been involved with BTC, I spend a lot of time online reading about other technologies and computers and I suppose what Bitcoin did for all of us is that it made us smarter.

I think you should invest your time in studying about what cold storage is and how it can help you, if you are interested in bitcoin for it to save your life someday and you are comfortable with the fact that it is not near, I think it might be a pretty cool idea. There are even a lot of new accessories available which perform as a cold storage wallet for bitcoin :D

I don't know yet whether it helps or ruins my life at the moment because I am still very new. But so far bitcoin gives me a new hope for increasing my earnings. By reading people's posts that they have already earned so much from bitcoin it encourages and challenges me to follow their steps. Bitcoin helped me get a hobby. Albeit it led me towards a little bit of gambling, I've still made free money in the short amount of time that I've been dabbling with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin enables foreign investors to inject money in the local economy, bypassing the ridiculous official rate of my local currency (the bolivar) which is 200 bolivars for every 1 dollar, whereas the black market pays 700 bolivars for every 1 dollar. To be able to send money almost immediately, without paying taxes of any kind and a the best trade rate is a winning combination that is making bitcoin more and more relevant in countries like mine.
Also: the Venezuelan bitcoin exchange platform (Surbitcoin) became the 2nd in market volume in south america. Huge props to those guys. I have used his website to exchange some bitcoins for bolivars and the experience is flawless.

It helped me a lot especially when I got into crypto currencies as well and it helped me look at economics in a different light. I haven't made a fortune from it but it helped me pay some bills and also have got a few investments including my own coin growing as well. I know things are bad and the black market is the only way to get access to a lot of things at a decent price, how is your involvement with bitcoin helping you there? Same here. IA always tried to make money off the internet and it was always a failure. Trying to rank blogs and videos was a fucking waste of time, now with Bitcoin im finally making some beer money and even if it pays peanuts (sig campaigns mostly) it's better than nothing and definitely more than I ever did with blogs and affiliate marketing and whatnot.

earning internet from money can not very often be a give and receive system, things are different when digital. it is all about making yout text or image stand out from the other images around, something which attracts attention especially if you are talking about blogs and affiliate marketing. Do not invest try to earn bitcoins from signature campaigns or by trading, it's good that you are a part of bitcoins now and there are many ways to grow your bitcoins, either from campaigns, trading, gambling etc. but would suggest not to go for gambling and I bet bitcoins will always help you in your life and it would never ruin your life for sure only if you take it positively  :D

I surely thing many bitcoin miners got their lives ruined. Especially those that earned millions of dollars out of bitcoin mining.

Maybe he is living in a country where the standard of living is not so high. A couple of dollars a week extra through a sig campaign can have a serious impact in countries where the avarage monthly wage is a couple of 100 dollars worth.

Started off using faucets to earn micro bits. When I earned my first 0.001satoshi on bitvisitor, I deposited it in cex.io. Then I went on Amazon and bought an Antminer U2 and mined whenever I can. Eventually I got more from faucets and got some helpful donations and reached 0.01. I sold and gambled some and managed to get to 0.1. From there I just kept on investing and gambling and selling. From the amount I earned I think I paid back the amount my USB miner cost. :D

Bitcoin once ruined my life when I was kinda addicted to bitcoin gambling, I become broke that time but eventually moved on and started over again. This time I stopped gambling and start doing paid tasks to cover up my losses on gambling. Right now I still gamble and invest but not that much like before.

But that is not bitcoins fault. Bitcoin and gambling are separate things although they are perfectly fitting.

The thing with gambling is that eventually you will win, its only your luck deciding it.


Only your luck decides that you win before you lose all your money.


For example if you use a dice site, and you set it to x1000 multiplier, and have a deposit of 1 btc, but bet 0.05 btc, then you can either win 50 BTC, or lose your 1 BTC.

On average your are more likely to lose your 1 BTC, but if you are lucky you can win the 50 BTC faster than you lose the 1 BTC, you get me?

But make sure you dont risk that much, and make sure that the game is provably fair!

For most people this is the case. The fact another currency exists it's not a big deal if you don't have money to begin with. If you are fiat broke, you will be BTC broke. So unless you can think of certain specific uses to benefit from it, it doesn't change your life in any way. The only thing you can do unless you have a better idea is try to buy some monthly and use it as an investment, holding it like gold. The average guy will not see much other uses right now.

I have spent last 10 years on online earning for my life. I can earn and i made a life from it but was not able to secure my life for the future. But bitcoin gives me the hope for the secured future. So, for me bit coin has helped me to plan for my future.

That's great that thru online earning you can live without working in real job but you know you must never depend on bitcoin as a assurance of a secured future. Even @ low chances bitcoin crash. I don't think that bitcoin will ever ruin our life, it is helping our life as we have more options to choose the currency. If you are fed up with the traditional banking system and wish to try the new age currency then bitcoin is the perfect option and this has been proved over the past few years. One day more and more people will be using bitcoins then there are all the chances to increase the bitcoin prices.

Bitcoin help my life somehow. Im finding an online part time when I first encountered bitcoin. After doing some method of earning it, I found it nice to continue my bitcoin journey. It really helps me since the conversion of USD in my currency is quite big.

Neither the first and nor the second one. Bitcoin is important for me but is excessive to pretend those qualities from it for my life. But if it will be possible to happen one of both qualities, probably will be the second one. This can be verified if some day, in some way, I will have (legitimately  ;)) a big amount of bitcoins. Same here. The possibility of getting a living from bitcoin is greater than anything else. Some people who bought bitcoins at the price of $1000 around may scold for ruining their investment. But they need to wait for some time. Then they also will find help from bitcoin.

Bitcoin helped me. So basically I am still a student and here in my country (specialy in provinces) getting hired in some kind of part time job is not that easy. I am a bit techy and I enjoyed surfing the web and one day I came across to what this bitcoins is. I was fascinated indeed. For a kid like me (before) such kind of currency never exist in my mind so when I get to learn what bitcoins is, I gain more knowledge in evry part and everything that is related to it. I get my income from bitcoins. I use it to support myself as my parents refuses to support me anymore, so yes bitcoin helped me.

Bitcoin is a great experiment and learning curve and it has been the most exciting technical advancement since the Internet. For us old biddies especially, I am nearly 50 btw, it has given us also new earning opportunities that for my generation has saved a lot of us out of work and lost as the generation X.

My only problem in Bitcoins are:

- I can't play my favorite game now while @ office to kill time because rather than playing I like to spend my free time to do btc earning method

- I always checked my smartphone whenever I wake up if I received bitcoin even Im not expecting that I will received some coins lol

- Im really addicted now to browse in every part of this forum to gained some knowledge and ideas about earning btc's

- Since I converted my first ever 1BTC to my fiat currency recently, I really hook to the bitcoin world and I say to myself, is this for real? I forget to visit now some local forum that I always visited in the past. Miss my friends there lol.

Unless you have bought bitcoin at the peak price of $1200 to current prices, you would be praising it as a common user. A financial analyzer would see bitcoin as a helpful revolution regardless of it's price changes but the economical changes which would be possible just because of bitcoin arrival.

I'm a pro player in Dota 2--even competed for some tournaments globally--and when I am not playing, I just surf around here and do forum posting. Learned a lot in just a year by just staying here. It really made my life better because it helped me fund my education and other expenses as well.

It helped me and kinda taught me how selling-buying works in markets etc.
It also created real life investment options for me.
And I believe it will help even more in future.

Making leisure time into earning, bitcoin has most awarding opportunities now a days compared to any other sector without involving any risks unlike forex trading kind of opportunities. For students or home based job seekers, bitcoin evolution has produced many job opportunities.

Instead of practicing/playing Dota 2 (I'm a pro player and competing in major tournaments in our country), I just dedicate my spare time reading bitcoin-related articles or staying here in the forum. Other times, I try to review the source code to see whether I can get a good grasp out of it; so far I have understand some points that I could actually use in my studies. One of my friend whom I told bitcoin about is now earning bitcoins and is thanking me for giving him the opportunity to learn more about it as it changed his life, too. 

Yes, exactly this! Amount of things that I have learned in the past two years is incredible. Not just about Bitcoin and cryptography, but about money, economics, computers, computer safety, and just about world and people and happenings in the world.

I read so much and not some dumb crap, but I read about meaningful stuff. This is what Bitcoin does, it sucks you in and once it does that to you, there is no turning back! :)

That's kinda hard for me to turn my leisure time (playing DoTA with friends) into earning as it was already part of my daily habit as a teenager :D But I consider this sig campaign somehow a leisure time for me since I enjoy a lot having a discussion here :D It's a good thing that part of my leisure time is also my earning time ;D

LOL at this :) . Back in my 4th year high school, I really bored when it's time for our Economics subject in our class. I used to skip classes too when that subject cames because Im really confused about that subject and all are Math related. Seeing price chart , stacks movement all of them are boring to me.  Because of bitcoin, I just truly realized the meaning of inflation, law of demand and supply, volatility and other economic term .


And we can still found some time learning more about bitcoin and do some bitcoin earning method without removing our usual doings in our leisure time. I still played Dota and other games with my friends. Still playing online games now for example in COC, we have a decent level clan there that active in war. Don't need to focus all your time doing bitcoin earning method. Even it pays you much, much better if you still find time doing your usual doings in your fun time. :)

Bitcoin has not ruined my life, but it has not made my life extremely happy too.  The only thing I did with my bitcoins is used them.

Bitcoin did not ruin nor help my life. I lost around $20 in 2013 and somewhere around $5 in 2014. Yeah, bought high and sold low while screwing up with trading. Luckily I did it with miniscule amounts of money.

Again holding ...so if it goes tulips/beanie babies I'm screwed...if it hangs together even sideways I'm ahead 25.5% and if you count (take off elec costs from that ..so far I just have ate the electric costs and hoarded) ....from miners from 2013 till Jan 1st 2016 (13c kwh) I would be around 16% up over equip and that covered all elec costs...this is at a 3 buck LTC price or above and around 250 BTC price or above ..more or less.

So all depends if crypto survives (and maybe if LTC was to completely fail before I xfer to BTC I'd be looking at 85 BTC or so say)

Again BTC (and LTC in its yoshi like manner) survive .......as stated above I'm ahead......everyone decides BTC is 'evil' and goes eventually to bank sponsored crypto (Hey we are a bank trust us...they are coming imho) ..then I be screwed :)

Dude Bitcoin is not going 'poof'.. this just has only begun. Europe just said it acknowledges Bitcoin as currency which is huge news. Things are only getting better on a daily basis. Just keep holding your coins long term and you will be rewarded. And think twice before you dump it all for fiat, because fiat is not immortal, fiats collapse too, so don't have this sense of relief by being on fiat.

I'm going to find out later if btc is going to help my life. if for instance I don't respond back to this thread after few days, this means my life is ruined and I'm probably dead hanging :)

Are you serious? Life is precious than bitcoin or anything else for that matter.

Bitcoin didn't changed so much my life, only little changes, i had to study some nights to learn more about it it had taken a bit of my time, but learning something is never a problem, it could help me on future. It could change it for better if bitcoin increases a lot its price.

do you have a big debt or what? it seems one of those story that someone bought in the peak with the money of another one and now can't return the money back

Did Bitcoin ruin my life? Yes somewhat I have to say. Bitcoin became my obsession as the value of it is so high that when I first heard about it all I want to do was getting my first bitcoin. And now I really become obsessed with it, everyday I spend like 4-5 hours sitting in front of my computer monitoring my investments, my miners and looking for more ways to earn with it.

Did bitcoin help my life? Yes, too. I made a lot from bitcoin. Once I used to exploit a VPS company and mine coins worth 2BTC (yeah somewhat ruin my life but still make money for me). This is like my second source of income. Day at work, night at bitcointalk forum looking for every tiny bit of information. It's worth my time because I make money from it

well it neither ruined my life nor helped in any way though it might help me in my life if its price would go up a lot and then i would have a lot of money

For me, at start bitcoin was good, it was fun to mine it on my old PC with one GPU, later building my own crate mining rig, but then I stopped buying new hardware (skipped ASICS) and started to play with cloud mining and it went bad...i was too stupid and lost way more money than earned together... But at least I have now reason to earn my lost money back with BTC :-)

Im not spending much time and focusing to earn bitcoin. My only way is signature campaign and faucets. Everytime I got short to budget, my btc's are just there to backup my needs while waiting for my real job salary. This really helps.

Back when Im facing short budget last 5 months ago if Im not mistaken, I used to withdraw my saved satoshis as a backup so I can still keep up while waiting for my salary. Good thing I overcome it already and my coins are backuping me to other purposes now.

BTC helps me in a way. In a way that BTC gives me the opportunity to earn extra money that I can save, spend, and enjoy.

I bought bitcoins on a lower price value, and now I'm happy to see that in today's market I can say that I made a profit out of it. It was really a gamble but it turned out to be good that makes me smile.

Yeah, selling some stuff with BTC, offering my services, even started with loans... But still I am going to cloud mine some (but this time not ones too good to be true). Just some HashNest mining  :)

Bitcoin massively helped me. Really I think discovering bitcoin is probably the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.

For a start, it is the only thing in my life I have ever found that I am completely passionate about (excluding stuff in my personal life). I plan on moving into the bitcoin space at some point in the future, hopefully with some startup (Im an accountant and every company needs accountants- but I also have a fair amount of programming knowledge- how many bitcoin enthusiast programmers with an accountancy qualification can there be!?).

Secondly, it has been a catalyst to me learning all about the current financial system. I would confidently say that I know more about how fiat works than 99.9% of people, however that isn't saying much as it doesn't seem to be on any syllabus anywhere, the only way to learn these things is to teach yourself.

Thirdly, it provided an easy way to buy cannabis (which is how I first got into btc) which I used to help with the symptoms of ME (from which I have now fully recovered). Who knows, without btc perhaps I would still be ill.

Finally, and perhaps the biggest, is that I have a huge (for me) investment in bitcoin and I am fairly confident it will pay off very well in the future. I only bought in this year so I got a good price.

Oh and one more. If/when the next bubble hits I will feel so damn smug. All my friends think I'm an idiot for putting any money into bitcoin. I have always replied 'we will see'.

Bitcoins are helping us in many ways and I think it can not ruin any one's life. Bitcoins are making our life easy by smooth and quick money transfer with low transaction fees, now there is no need to visit the banks and you can be your own bank.

It basically helped my life by understanding economy; also teached how to secure my money and hold my privacy.

It helped me. I got some cash from trading it and it taught me some basics of economy and trading since I've never been interested in finances before.

Economic terms and slangs such as volatility, supply and demand, volumes, bulls, whales, hodl, candlestick etc. These words I found boring during Economic class but today I found it interesting. :)

I have invested very minimal amount of funds very recently into Bitcoin before which almost all my Bitcoin earnings were from referral exchanges on new Bitcoin projects, posting reviews and answering questions for bounties. Considering this, Bitcoin has NEVER ruined my life but has helped me educate myself more on how it functions and helped me research new projects that are accepting Bitcoins and providing services for Bitcoins. Also, I believe if I did invest a substantial amount purchasing the Bitcoins, I'd be bearing only a minimal risk cause I'd only be invest a minimal amount of my total savings into it.

Watching Bitcoin documentaries, helped me understand the monetary structure of my economy and also how it's being abused to an extent. Bitcoin has also taught me about the various Government conspiracies, and how it builds monetary independence among ourselves by being our own banks. Overall, it's been a good run for me using Bitcoins and learning about it. 

In my country they don't have international credit card so it is impossible to buy form internet some goods and with bitcoin i start having some money every week and can buy from internet what i need like computer part that is not disponible in my country and have an international master card ;)
And i have develop some finance knowlege that will help me in the futur ;)

Bitcoin helped my life immensely!

It helps my life already since the coins I save for later are somewhat of a retirement backup. That is assuming that the price of Bitcoin will go through the roof in the next 10-20 years. Only time will tell.

Here in the Netherlands, the 20-30 usd can get you by maybe 2-3 days regarding food and small other stuff.

Bitcoin helped me a whole lot. It is wild ride and i have earned some money due to trades and sure learned lot from it. And it is still young so there will be more chances to profit and lot to learn.

Bitcoin have helped me and i think many people from countries like mine where it is hard to get global payment were helped by bitcoin. Atleast i don't get banned from pay... like site only to get payment now.

For me Bitcoin is a technology, new way to earn and invest money. It is interesting. And it's all about your decisions. When you do something with cold head it simple cannot ruin your life. Just be wise and even if you lose, don't get mad about it.

Bitcoin hasn't done a lot for me - both good or bad. I have some modest holdings - which is ok, but I am not even close to the people who originally invested in thousands of coins. Bitcoin for me is more of an interest than anything else - an experimental idea brought to life. I'm just curious where it is heading.

bitcoin hasnt really helped my life or ruin my life. Probably because i don't as much into bitcoin to expect to get something. i only have around 2btc so even if the price goes down im not really affected much. similarly if the price goes up it wont help me much either.

Transaction wise bitcoin has helped me a little by letting me send money with little fee, and the people i deal with are satisfied.

Bitcoin has really helped my life become easier by having control of my own money, and the need to never worry about greedy banks, etc. With Bitcoin, I've learned so many things from mining to cryptography, and now I'm a privacy centric user.  ;)

I think this could be said for all of us. Bitcoin is something new and therefore pretty interesting. A few might have got obsessed and spend as much time as possible with it. Especially the super early adopters as they often had liberterian rootes or have been around in cypher punk space for a long time.
