this thread is basically the same as the thread where op thinks we may see $3600 this year. we haven't even reached $1000 let alone $600 and people start already with speculating about the bitcoin price being worth a few $k. we might see the price reach a few $k in 2018 or later. this year not.

A little bit of a positive outlook can help in a lot of ways. OP is just being optimistic no need to tell him that.

But yeah all we know as of the moment is we'll have a rise this year.

There is no guarantee it will go up it may slowly bottom out

it seems too high for the current bitcoin. but it is unique and I support the price moving towards there.

As much as we love that to happen, it won't. What your saying is to reach from current value of $372 (at the time of posting this) to $2016 in about 10 months which it's about 442% increase over it's current value which also happen to be insane and can't see any reason that this would happen within this short timeline by end of 2016.

Dear Buddy, I don't think bitcoin will reach upto 2016$ and all. if block halving went through also bitcoin price will be 800$ or maximum 1000$ thats it. it will cross like 2000$ more and all. its a day dream.;)

As always, another thread that lacks the indicative factors and some proofs that may point out that we must be heading to a certain price point. ::) Dreaming is fine, but being realistic is better in most cases :D

How will the price go up to even $2000 if most people will already sell at $1000 to take their profits. And if ever it'll reach higher than $1000, who's going to buy them if we all know that the price was a third of it few months ago.

It was quite interesting number to speculate but i don't think there is enough force behind to push bitcoin that far by this year. No i don't think it will be there anytime soon or by end of this year.

The last big uptrend went much, much higher than the previous all time high. Learning from history, we know it can/will happen again.

the end of the year will be for consolidation, crazy peak/pump and stuff like that will hit the market much early, with the halving

not sure about surpassing 2k, but the last ath should be touched and surpassed if we are lucky enough with the demand

I like the optimism very much but the price has to come from far to even come close to $2000 in 10-11 months.

Uhh, the trend did not hold long enough though it was substantial in predicting future market movements. Also, the price indicated in this thread is too far from reality. In the previous ATH, we all know the market was faked by a bot, FOMO kicked in and bam, the bubble burst. And the price indicated here wouldn't even be a reality given that people are eagerly waiting for four-digits and call it quits.

I never see Btc in its current form replacing money and that's why I don't see it going over 2000$ unless America turns into a banana republic and devalued its currency but then the btc vs usd might go 2000 but vs the €£¥ CAN and AUD it won't see a crazy jump, I feel like speculation vs off topic pipe dreams would be more of a conversation

I think it is impossible, as we all know the price of bitcoin is always unstable, so it is very difficult to price it emerged or survived at the end of the year, but you just need to be optimistic with your beliefs, because it could happen :)

nothing impossible but it's very difficult to see bitcoin price could reach $1000 above and i think for this year we never seen bitcoin price will reach to $2k and $1200 it was enough for me

Pretty much close enough but we already had 400 and above this year so the 320 - 370 is already a miss so I guess it should be changed to 340-450 perhaps. May to August could be some 450-500.

Love them or hate them, Blockstream raising $55m to add to their existing war chest, means that investors expect to see Bitcoin gain in value.

If you invest $55m, I'd guess you want to see that turn into $555m as a minimum. So, 10x return and you'll want to see that within 3-4 years.

So, lets say BTC goes up by 10x.  $370 x 10 = $3,700. Now, that's over 3-4 years. The long end of the curve for that to happen is fairly shallow, so you'll get most growth in the early year(s).  That means the OP estimate is pretty much guaranteed.   

that would be funny if such price would actually be before the end of the year, but in my opinion it is impossible to reach such high numbers in just a year, i would think more about 800 dollars

I think for now or this year this price will not happen. The price will not rise above $700 this year maybe in the future your dream will come true.
So just keep holding and collect more coins if you really wants to be rich in the future but you will also be old as old man before making a excitement with your bitcoins or buy anything you want with bitcoins...

This price is way to high I don't think it will not even close to it. I don't think you will see a price higher then $600 max $700. At the end of last year people thought also a high rise of the price would happen.

I think so too. It's too difficult to go through $1000 this year as we are still below $400 right now. Everything is possible, yes. We have seen that in 2013 where the price peaked at +$1100 while a few months before that, the price was well under $200. Since then a lot has changed.

My girlfriend says that she will get 2 16 tattooed on her backside if the price hits $2016 by the end of the year.

Meh not likely, we are going to have a tough enough time to get to 1k I believe. as we've seen recently a lot of resistance at the 500 level

Sometimes one can not see forest from the trees. I wouldn't focus as much on these latest market moves as much; it's probably just manipulated
in a way to shake out as much coins as possible before another bull run. To achieve  ~2000$ this year in a peak should be possible, but to keep it
at that value is another story (miners will still pose an issue with their dumps)

Its hard to even imagine that to be true, so if the $700 gives me faith then I`m sure most are on the same page as well.

I think in the next few weeks we'll keep seeing the pump and dump that we're seeing now which will bring us up to $450 - $500 and then right back down again to about $400. I don't think we'll really see a steady increase until halving unless something positive and major happens within the bitcoin realm.

Halving will most likely bump the price up significantly and will allow the cryptocurrency to gain more traction, thus allowing more purchasing which should ultimately increase the price.

I don't think that we'll be able to see $2016 by the end of 2016 - I would assume the maximum we'd touch would be $1000 and that is extremely optimistic. My guess, based on the rate now, would be around $700 - $800 by the end of this year.

Although your prediction does not have a rational basis, I hope to see such price soon, although I have to admit that I am not so optimistic about it and I will be happy keeping the current price level for long.

Lol what I really love about your post here is how optimistic it is for bitcoin's future. If you notice, the amount of negativity on this speculation board does cause a percentage of Bitcoin owners to sell which drives the price way down. Honestly it is always so refreshing to see people enthusiastic about the coin's future.

Again, really like the positivity, but it won't be like that. Although we've already reached $390, we're simply going through a period of "pump and dump" where many investors buy and the sell for quick profit. It seemed we were increasing the price ever so slightly but right in the new year of 2016, the Cryptsy and Mike Hearn issues caused so much turbulence it rocked the system and now people are buying and selling too quickly.

I think we will see the price soar by the time halving comes around, or unless something major happens that allows people to regain their trust in Bitcoin. As previously mentioned, I do think your optimism and positivity is amazing and I am not trying to discourage it. Bitcoin is a strong and trustworthy currency that we can rely on and the price will go very high this year, it's just that we won't hit it so quickly. However perhaps if we keep up the positive energy people will start investing in Bitcoin for the long run allowing there to be less selling and more buying which will, evidently, increase the price.

You haven't worked out that money is a confidence game. If you sell bitcoins its because you have no confidence. 

You need to book yourself on a personal empowerment course to build up your self-esteem. Then you will see that bitcoin cannot fail and the reasons to sell is really a fear of personal failure runinng around in your head.

Although the title is funny and there are also some funny comments about the price of Bitcoin.I don't expect that higher price but there will be some huge rise in price exact after what halving of blocks will be completed.I can expect at about 1k $ /BTC as fair price but not this as OP described.

Lol, whatever. I'm a little bipolar lately on the future of Bitcoin, I still maintain too opposite visions, one is that we will close out the year at $500-600, therefore Bitcoin keeps growing year by year. The second one is that Bitcoin is sort of doomed, it can go on and on for a couple more years but at the end if it doesn't wake up and actually create some demand from the average Joe it will become irrelevant to an upcoming project or new tech that actually does that. It can't remain as a "potential" or experiment for so long.

It's a nice goal, but I would be happy if we would stay at 400 dollar.

I do not think that the price will reach the $1000 levels this year at all, maybe the price will reach its peak point in October and November after the halving which I speculate it will be 500 : $600

Your calculation is very realistic because $500 - $600 is easily achievable for Bitcoin even in worst case situation.

I think that's actually the limit for now, testing $1000 or similar figures won't ever happen in the upcoming months or years in my opinion unless there are some major developments and deals going down which I'm afraid it's not realistic with the bad image Bitcoin has with big companies and banks. Also that $1000 barrier is psychological too since many people were badly burned in 2013's bubble.

There is little possibility for the price to go that high. Maybe there general adoption or the Wall Street money comes in.

We never know what can happen in the future. It is hard to predict a currency. But maybe it will have a higher value in the end of 2016.
But it wont be that high. If you are now looking you can see that the price is rising very slowly.

Most likely this is not gonna happen without any doubts because the halving will let the price rise but not to such a amount.
At the max it will hit the 1,3k this year but that is just the max in my opinion, there are no other events that will let the price rise although the bitcoin is of course unpredictable.

I don't think that Bitcoin could reach this price 2016$ in the end of this year, however the halving is happening soon and we predict that Bitcoin's price will increase after this event, but not reaching this level likely

The price will merely double the price. The block size increase could also double the price. But it will not be $2016.

Even when the halving occurs, the chance of the price to reach that is very small...I think as the halving effect take place, months from that, the price would start to be steady again and most probably will normalize the price and might decrease...

Agreed, it looks hard to predict, but in reality at the end of the year I think the price may be around $1000 to $1200 not exceeding that.

we will definitely have a very interesting couple of months ahead of us. first there is the obvious halving effect and all the speculation around it and also there is the block size drama that is preventing bitcoin from rising up.

i don't really think that we will see such a huge price rise, from 400$ to 2000$ in 9 months, even halving won't do that, but if we will have huge price rises after halving too, and we will avoid all price falls and we won' create panic, then of course, would be really awesome to see such a high price

There are also a lot of people that is waiting for a price increase and that can be a long time.

Ain't that the truth. And it tends to be "(I am not a merchant but) merchants hate volatility" or "(I am not a trader but) traders hate stability". There seems to be no conception that volatility exists with every currency pair - one of the most volatile currency pairs is GBP/AUD, yet, incredibly, Australian retailers manage to successfully sell me things in exchange for my British Pounds. It's almost as if this volatility thing is a known problem with known solutions. But that's just crazy talk.

Let us remember past halving. After half a year (approximately) the price of Bitcoin has doubled.
But  need to consider the demand and interest of the people, as well as the government attempts to feud with cryptocurrency.

well, $500 is a good price to reach in a couple of months only if things are about to be the same and stable market stays the same but it is not a great price.

$2020 by 2020 is easily achievable. It is more difficulty to reach $2017 by 2017. But it is still doable.

If it reaches even to $1k then majority of us would be much satisfied to see that value, but that's difficult to achieve everything depends on the price at halving.

Halving is only a part of what makes the price. With each passing halving, the impact in form of newly created coins is relatively small compared to that
already in circulation. In the end it's the overall demand what dictates the price. Just like it was once said; if only one application gets viral/killer app,
bitcoin is going to be counted in thousands in price. Doubt that will happen by the year end, but who knows, i'we seen stranger thing happen.

if we reach 1k by manipulation only, then many average joe will jump in, so the value will skyrocket even more

It will be not possible as you can see now you see already that the price is not even rising that fast know so that is quite bad already but it is good to be positive about Bitcoins.

Very unlikely for the price to be $2016 in 2016 but it is not going to happen from what I am seeing. We are now on our way to $500 so the chance that the price will be in the thousands is small.

I dont think that it will happen because you can already see now that the value of Bitcoin is now quite low and many people who already have Bitcoin are not happy with the value.
And that is logic because they want to make some profit fast and that is now not possible.

Right we can't guess anything in bitcoin price and now the price is only staggering around $440 and even if halving comes it can reach $800 and reaching $2k is difficult to fix.

even after halving in July, i don't think that price will go from 500$ to 2000$, most it can go is 1100$ but only if things will go well, but there of course will be bitcoin sellers so price probably won't be so huge

The $2016 price is not for this year. The price will be at most $1000 this year. It is possible to be $2000 next year.

The value will not reach that high value in the end of the year and that is because the value was already stable for a long time and that was already bad.
But it needs a longer time to reach a higher value so we need to wait for it.

Stable value is good for the adoption of the bitcoin by ordinary people and business. So the price will also rise.

If the price is more stable, more people will use it as an investment vehicle, not as a speculative tool.

Bitcoin is not reaching that high and that is hard to know because you also never know what is going to happen with the value of course so you have to take some risks with it.
And it also takes also a long time until the value will be higher so you need some patience for it and that is bad.

agree with you, it is not impossible that in the end of this year the price will be around $2016 if we see the currennt situation, in the previous month the price was going up and doun from $560 to $540 and now in this week or just in a few days the price boost up from $450 to $550. It is really a great thing happened in the bitcoin in this year, it means that anything can happen in the field of bitcoin and if the price increased continued like that then i will say that the price of bitcoin will reach to $700 in this week, $1000 in the month of June and at halving it will be at a more higher valeu which is going to happen in July (of this year)

The halving will help the price increasing quite a lot. The price is over $600 now. That is due to the halving.

The bitcoin price is rising fast. I might have to change my mind and think the price could be 2016 in 2016.

The price keeps going up to reach $1200 is potential comes since i look signal on the market still on positive way and demand of the buyer is more big.

Im not sure what to do... im planing to add about 10.000€ in BTC as my frined bought 5.000€ of BTC at the price of ~420 just a while ago! Now its almost 750$ per BTC!

It's hard and quite some money. I would consider diversifying a little bit. Put some in bitcoin and some in another asset.
If the prices sticks at 720 you may have a problem when it (possibly) goes down again.

In my opinion basically you need to wait for the right moment, because I think your friend know that BTC will increase that's why he invested.

i would wait for now, and i'm sure many other are doing the same, a correction is coming, call it a dump, but i like to call it correction + consolidation at current or a bit lower levels

So far those analysts seems right. Funny thing is that is sounds plausible, since we all know 250 was not a price which was realistic. A price of around 350 - 450 was more realistic.
And so when the pump started and we reached  500 for a short i felt we finally got some good things happening. Now the price (with the halving or brexit or chinese people buying in) is near the 800 dollar and it should be there, but still i feel another large dump can happen any moment. Isn't that strange?

I think for now or this year this price will not happen. The price will not rise above $700 this year maybe in the future your dream will come true.
So just keep holding and collect more coins if you really wants to be rich in the future but you will also be old as old man before making a excitement with your bitcoins or buy anything you want with bitcoins...

Price is dropping last few hours, looks like it will be hard to break 1000 $. I hoped for some new record, and I still think there is a lot of chance for that to happen. We like when price is rising, and when its dropping we going crazy around the forum. I`m optimist even when times are hard, that is faith in my opinion.

It is clear that the chance of the price being exact $2016 in 2016 very small is and at the same time I also think that $2000 is a bit to high of a price to happen in 2016.

I find both unrealistic. The price is not even at 50% of that target. At best we can hope/see the price get a save garden in the 800 region but even that seems to be very hard If you see it going down again.

I don't think so because it would be much to see even 1000 $ price.Bitcoin has already reached where it was to be and it is good price range which seems stable.There will be some speculation like these days but after that again we will see a decrease and we reach at 630-660 $ range which will be final price.

There are too many factors that can break through a stable rise. Something that isn't bad news at all can still have a huge impact on the price. Just look at what happened when Craig Wright said to be Satoshi. The entire market was in panic. And for what? For nothing. It's just a clown. After all the years the market still reacts the same when it comes to bad news, but they are somewhat immune for good news. Weird market for sure.

Reaching $700 and staying solid after the halving to me seems pretty good, If we get this stability then i see no reason why we couldnt go up to 1000 or higher in a years time. I beleive after the halbing and reaching the highest point for this halving we will make a correction and head back down again maybe settling around $500. I dont think its going to be as easy to get to 1k and stay their as people think.

the price at the end of 2016 will be determined soon after the halving and based on how things will be like. if the price goes so high that we can consider it a bubble i think $2000+ is possible to reach in a two or three step big rises but if the rise is small after the halving and the slow rise continues as it was continuing for the last year it will only reach $800+ by the end of the year.

The OP is very optimisitc. I think it is not possible for the price to be $1500 this year. It is possible for the price to be $2000 next year.

$2000 is not possible if there is no good reception of the introduction of the SegWit and the 2MB block size.

Id say now that op is way off, In my opinion we are probably looking at breaching $1000 next year, Until then we will probably hover from $500 all the way up to $700. This kind of price seems wihtin reason from the adoption we are currently at. Should there be a massive influx of people buying bitcoin then its possible we could go higher but there would have to be some kind of force driving this. the only other way  would be an artificial pump by some whale which would obviously be temporary .

I don't think so that Bitcoin will hit even $ 1.5K by the end of this year. I will be much more happy to see a stable price between $ 650-700 if this remain. If this goes more higher than these price I would be much happy but now I want to be realistic about price. I completely agree, every time that the price has gotten to a substantial point, it ended up overbought and dropped back down to an even lower point. People always sell at such a high price regardless, so even if it did hit $1000, it'd pop right back down to where it used to be. We could see BTC at $800 this year, but over a longer duration of time.
