Title: LONG TERM BITCOIN BUYERS
Post by: Bitvestmint on June 10, 2016, 07:32:52 PM
In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?

Long term for me if I was investing in bitcoin would be 10-15 years from 2008, after that I wouldn't call it long term due to the volatility. But despite being long term, I wouldn't call it a wise option for long term investment, because it has never been easy to say that the price would go up or down.

Long term for me is 5 years or more, I think the best thing to do right now is invest & HODL for even up to or over 10 years.

To me when I buy for long term I am actually buying for 5+years. I say at least 50% of my bitcoin will not be touched for a decade, (god willing) maybe they will sooner if something happens to me and family cash out. To the average bitcoin investor I would agree with the hyper drive mentality and long term to them would be one year.

I think if you have some bitcoin's it's always a good idea to try & save some for the future incase the price explodes so I think people should be invested for over 5 years. Hopefully the price doesn't tank though or that'd be awful :)

I do not consider 5 years long term investment, more like medium term investment. I personaly buy and hold most of my Bitcoins, I dont have time set, just when it happens I really need the saved Bitcoins, Im gonna spend it. The second, very unlikely condition, if the price really skyrockets at least 100x so it would be real life changing wealth for me.

Long term is pretty much 10 year+

If you were to have say 100 BTC at this time, then if it will become 10,000 USD/BTC then you will have 1 million $.

It is a totally possible scenario that in 10 years we will see 10k bitcoin. I am positive about it's outcome!

I'm a long termer but if I did have significant skin in the game I'd keep a careful eye on things and be ready to run if necessary. The whole thing could unravel pretty darned rapidly in the case of technical disasters, the Chinese government going all out to squash it and plenty else besides.

long term for me is more than 5 years but i am not just holding my bitcoin blindly for this five years because bitcoin is not stocks to sleep on it.
i would like to see bitcoin as a currency and also as something that i constantly trade so i dedicate some portion of my holding to these two things that i mentioned. but the rest is in cold storage and will be kept for 5+ years

Bitcoin is very different to traditional investments and I feel like comparing apples to oranges here because with the price of Bitcoin being so volatile one could get the same yield in just under one year where a 'normal' investment could have taken at least 2 or more years. But not everything is rainbows and unicorns when it comes to Bitcoin investments because the price swings are so big and so frequent that you may end up losing money and not gaining anything. I have set a rule for my Bitcoin investment where I access the market situation every year and if I think there is an opportunity to make a profit I sell. I believe 1 year is just about right when we are dealing with such a volatile commodity like Bitcoin.

long term investment in bitcoin , for me, it means as long as bitcoin becomes popular (more than what it is now) and reaches that mass adoption stage that we are all hoping for it to reach.
and this stage happens to be needing a long time which can be around 5 years or more.
so long term investment here is also 5 years but it can be shorter if that adoption stage is reached sooner because of some unpredicted things happening.

Long term means 5 years or more as per the traditional investment. That is why government gives you a benefit of "long term capital gain" if you hold any investment for more than 5 years.

However, bitcoin investment is not a conventional investment and you should consider more than 5 years if you are investing in bitcoin. Remember one thing, that bitcoin will not be available after 2023. So invest wisely and hold it till your retirement if you want to make your dream come true. That is what I am planning too.

If you are using the word long term, so its mean invest your bitcoin for 5 year, or may be more. otherwise less than 5 years investment so it is not long term way.
Secondly, investment need some time, than it would  give you good profit, and the big investors always doing it. I am also doing investment, and now i m getting profit, but when i was starting it, it was difficult for me, passing the time we can manege it.

Long term for me is probably close to 5-10 years. However, I wouldn't suggest holding BTC for this long, considering the volatility in price throughout the history of bitcoin. The maximum that I would probably hold is 2 years and then sell.  :)

For me, long term buying is probably looking into the very long term future. If I was buying for long term, then I would be buying for when bitcoin becomes a global currency. And that's probably minimum half a decade.

But it seems like you're just promoting your site here.

i think a couple of years is a good period for keeping bitcoin and considering it as a long term investment.

this couple of years can start with one or two years and keep on going to the longer time like 5 or 6 years. when things have changed for bitcoin and it is more adopted in the world so it has a higher price

That's not even considered long term. In fact, that's actually considered short-term.
But everyone has it's preferences and just like you said, that much amount of time is used for trading purposes and actually, most traders use even shorter time like weeks, days, hours even.

Just over 4 years I can say long term for bitcoin. I think that 4 years is enough for investment because of halving. If you watched the last halving I think you can understand. The rate of bitcoin was big difference between before and after of halving. This time also same thing might be happening and also we can expect bigger than that also.

Long term for average bitcoin investor is 1 - 6 month. We can see in comments how much people like to earn fast money. Long term investment needs to be more then 5 years, everything before that is fast in my opinion.

Hi Bitinvestmint, yes you are right long term as what we define in finance is considered as 5 years above and 3-5 years as medium term and since bitcoin are being hyped nowadays that's why its value goes up so easily, for sure once its price started to go down, it will also go down so fast. So since I am an average bitcoin investor, I categorized long term as 6 months.

5 years or more is considered long term by many investors, average and big whales too. Who knows in 5 years from now bitcoin price may even be at 10.000 USD per coin, now imagine someone who bough lets say 100 bitcoins with 400 or even 700 USD spending about 70.000 USD max nowadays. Imagine after 5 years in an optimistic prediction of 10.000 USD per coin, that is 1 mln dollars and a life changing event for many.

Like the song says.
Bitcoin is the power, power is bitcoin minute after minute, hour after hour.

When it comes to Bitcoin even a few weeks could be  a long term because of the price volatility. So, you have to watch everyday the price and see how things are going at the market. In general, holdong Bitcoin over 3-6 moths could be very risky unless you are playing on realy longterm, like saving for retirement, which  also have seen here on forum.

Well in ordinary finance system, long term is around 5 and above years of waiting.  But in the world of Cryptocurrency, on month is equivalent to a lifetime.  Due to it's high volatility, Bitcoin price changes from time to time.  It maybe up this week and down next week.  So as for me in Bitcoin, 5 months i think is a long term in cryptocurrency world.

If you are investing little amount or holding only few bitcoins than i think 5 year holding should be considered as perfect holding period but if you have 100+ bitcoin than better to hold till pump and sell at pumped price than buy back. If you are investing little amount or holding only few bitcoins than i think 5 year holding should be considered as perfect holding period but if you have 100+ bitcoin than better to hold till pump and sell at pumped price than buy back. There is no reason to keep holding if you have hundreds of bitcoin.
I agree with you with a hundred amounts of bitcoin i think it will be good if he just sell it for $$$$ price. and just wait for the price to have a huge drop like turning from $$$$ to $$$ like $400 below and i think it will be a good chance to buy and save bitcoin again because it easy to make profit without doing anything except from holding.

yes there is always two types of investment in bitcoin. one is long term investment and second is short term invest. from short tem investment mean the investment tell halving or daily and weekly based investment from large term investment we mean the investment for months and years. so i can say that as from the present condition it is looking very clear that the future of bitcoin will be quite bright so we can say that long term invest in not bad. you will see the price after halving a rocket fly. therefore it is best to invest in bitcoin for long time.

Just hold your bitcoin and then sell it the right time to sell.

Long-term as far as I am concerned would be at least until ~2024 or two more halvings after this one. That would also be ~ 15 years from the genesis block

From halving to halving is the best strategy, so four years is the best term for me, maybe price will be even higher than this year and people will get more profit.

Thought that was pretty good, it's true halving occurred 4 years. Because the cause of halving depends on trade. But I think not all halving will impact the same and it needed a another factor in rising prices. I think if the user bitcoin already many and more from now, the price of the bitcoin can go up whenever.

too much risk if we consider to buy and hold for long term,if we keep bitcoin in 5 years, its unpredict and we have chance to lost some big price, throw back if i keep some bitcoin in 2011,and now have 5 years pass, its good time to open wallet and sell at last week, and if open on today, the profit more less.

If you take into consideration the amount of time bitcoin has been in existence, 2 years would already be a long term. But once we reach a point where bitcoin is already in its developed stages and the price has sort of stabilized, I think long term could mean 5 or 10 or even 20 years.

Long term for bitcoins, in my opinion, is 6 to 7 years. But given the recent worldwide major changes in the economy bitcoin nowadays is not suggested to invest in longterm. Longterm for bitcoins nowadays is 4 to 6 months time but it must be monitored daily since the price unstbalility  occurs very often with major difference. So it is wise not to keep bitcoins in long term and its best to just trade it and not invest it.

If you ask me 5 years or more is enough to say that it's long term because if you have many bitcoin at least 10 it will be the best range for you to hold your bitcoin because every year the price of bitcoin is continue rising so after 5 years or more i think it's the best to sell all your coins and go home with that great amount of money that you earned.

If we buy bitcoin will certainly be very beneficial in the long term if prices continue to rise. We will have many advantages if we buy and then store it until the price goes up, it will be able to get a big advantage in the long run. But it is also risky because bitcoin prices always fluctuate so we do not know whether prices will rise or fall.

as with all long term investments, we don't know the end result. people can assume the price will go up to much higher levels in the coming years, but assumptions don't have any value. especially here on this forum. if you really plan to hold your coins for 5 years, then you'll either get very happy due to the profits that you have made, or you'll end up being disappointed as the price went even down. be prepared for everything and stay calm.

You can definitely make great profits in the short term. It all depends on how volatile the market is. With enough average volatility, I can make like 10-15% profit per month. But when the price isn't moving a lot, the profits will be much lower though. I mostly skip trading on these days.

When it comes to Bitcoin even one year could be considered as long term because the price volatility and constant changes. So you have to watch the market all the time. But I don't think Bitcoin will be banned because it's used for illegal activities. Then we should also ban fiat currencies which are also used for illegal things but that wouldn't solve the problem.

No, I'm not ready to accept one year as a long term. In my perspective, long term must be, from one halving to another halving at least. Halving may occur approximately every 3.5 years, so in terms of this measurement we need to hold bitcoins for some 3 to 4 years to be considered as long term investments.

In my case, I prefer to hold bitcoin till I will get retirement. Seriously, right now I do not have any commitment for my bitcoin saving, so hopefully I will be able to hold them for loooong term.

If I take myself as an example when it comes to investments, then for me long term comes in the 5-10 year range.

Medium term will be in the 2-3 year range, and short term is everything up to more or less 12 months.

But I also agree on the fact that Bitcoin at this point is purely hype and speculation driven where people look to get as much profit as possible in a matter of months.

This is a good reason, better not move anything when you do not know what are the things you need to do.  Lucky are those who decide to hold bitcoin because it is destined to increase in price.  But if it is just an ordinary asset that tends to depreciate in time, you will be at a loss holding it for a long time.

It is true, even if the Governments restrict it later bitcoin will still be existing and will have it value increased and one can still retrieve his money without the government knowing if really they are serious to find a solution to that restriction. Moreover, experts predict we will get chances to 'use' bitcoins rather selling it. So, long term buyers never need to worry.

government banning bitcoin is different from restriction about using it and is a lot different from regulating bitcoin.

what can happen in the future is the last one "regulating bitcoin usage" and that is actually a good thing. many may consider it a restriction but if you think about it, that can eventually lead to more services and people adopting bitcoin which means bitcoin price will surely be higher than today.

Basically bitcoin is here to have huge prices in long term because each halving will create double the demands. Long term bitcoin buyers are simply targeting that probably. I believe I am too a long term bitcoin buyer/investor because I am saving bitcoins to use after retirement, I take this decision after many people are suggesting about future of bitcoin price levels.

Yes maybe it was a good decision because the use bitcoin after retirement that includes very long term. It was risky, but if prices continue to rise until bitcoin for decades for sure in the end you'll get huge profit. Actually I also want to do things like you to leave some bitcoin on the wallet and keep it for a few years until retirement and then use it, but I still think of several factors. Maybe later I'll follow you if the price of bitcoin according to my own as I wanted.

Basically bitcoin is here to have huge prices in long term because each halving will create double the demands.

That's not necessarily true. The block halving just makes sure there is no over-supply. Exactly that was the case just before the most recent block halving in Juli. 25BTC block rewards were too much for the market to handle. Without the block halving, the price would plummet hard. That's where the block halving comes handy. However, 50% less supply doesn't mean 100% demand increase. It just takes away the over-supply, and that's it.

I believe I am too a long term bitcoin buyer/investor because I am saving bitcoins to use after retirement

May I ask how many years you have to go before you reach your retirement date? I understand that you put a lot confidence in the future of Bitcoin, but if it's more than 20 years till your retirement date, then it's way too far stretched if you already focus on that.

I take this decision after many people are suggesting about future of bitcoin price levels.

You should do your own research instead of taking the word of "many" people for granted.

Long term for me could be savings for retirement. It could be 20 years or more. Hopefully that is long enough for bitcoin to be worth enough for me to retire.

Choosing a long term must be based on your current age. I guess you will retire in next to 10 years or you will be having very big commitment in next 10 years (like will be starting a new business / you're planning marriage or higher education for your children).

We never need to worry about the survival of bitcoin. Because bitcoin will stay with the human for ever. It is highly recommended to buy bitcoin for long term and hopefully we are all doing the right thing as of now what we could do.

In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?

For me the long term bitcoin investor holds his bitcoins for more than 1 year.

It depends of the  bitcoin price, not the time people are holding their bitcoins.

Right. We need to act for a purpose. Long term bitcoin buyers must be having some definite plans because planning for future with investments only possible if you are having a strong belief with bitcoin ecosystem. I am just saving my bitcoins with the long term plans like using them in my local stores when they start accepting (surely I will not cash out my bitcoin nor I will not use bitcoin debit cards).

Why is that? I don't believe only long term investments work with tons of money.
You can act the same way whenever you are small or big.

Care to explain your reasoning?

I'll give an example =) most banks all over the world offer higher interest rates for bigger deposits. In my country, for example, you can earn maybe 0.5% interest annually on a savings account for minimum wage, assuming you put in all your salary every month. If you are earning 2 or 3 times min wage, you get about 1% interest.

Now if you're wealthy and can put in 10x minimum wage you can earn up to 4% annually.

So, perhaps if you only have $100 you might think of a short-term investment (buying bitcoin and holding it for a few months to make 10%. But if you have $1 million you won't mind the low-risk $40,000 a year :)

Yes, there are two different factors we need to consider when we are planning to hold bitcoin for long period of times. The first one must be chances of benefits we are going to enjoy to hold bitcoin for longer duration and the second one must be future of that investments.

I believe another third factor will be possible like for what reason we need to hold even the above two factors are completely true.

For sure Bitcoin is the best long term investment considering its continous upward trends, but I think we should not focus on Bitcoin and forget other digital currencies, some digital currencies are a good long term investment as well, Ethereum and some other coins have been growing fast, I prefer to invest in other digital coins in addition to Bitcoin, from the perspective that says: do not put all your eggs in one pasket

It seems bitcoin investors are increasing day to day so for long term investment on bitcoin more than 6+ years because the value of the bitcoin will decrease in every four years because every four years there will be bitcoin halving, may be many people think that there will price fall at the time halving. So to increase it's again it will take another 2 years so my plan to wait for 6 years is the best choice.

If I am a buyer, I would choose long term base, in the years goes by the bitcoin will increased in fiat currency. I have read articles about the price of bitcoin. In year of 2013, the price bitcoin dropped from $250 to around $50. The price rose up then dropped down, it's rapidly changed but now it is stable and it will rise up the price. The price of per bitcoin now is around PHP 42000 or $840. So, let's enjoy our life in bitcoin world.

for long term holding i think bitcoin is the best digital currency although some altcoins have potential to growth but still risky for me especially with the current price while bitcoin has raising up in these few days but altcoins market more likely to down trend so in my opinion if your aiming good profit holding bitcoin is more secure rather than the particular altcoins

5 years is not enough for me for something to be considered long term. It must be 10 years+ but since bitcoin is

volatile and the price fluctuates from time to time, A part of me is hesitating to keep it for that long that's why I

dont just keep them but I trade a portion of them from time to time and the profit will go to a different investment.

To see the price value from the last year to this year. Its almost double the value as of now. So you can get value in future, if you hold some big amount bitcoin in the sense. Its fluctuations always lead big pump only in most of the time.

There's no guarantee that holding for just 1 year will give you better returns than 5 years, you just have to be tactical and know when to sell and when to buy. At the moment it's good to buy and hold but sell as soon as you notice a decline of more than 10$

It is not a good time to buy right now. The rate map looks crazy and can go down anytime. Volatility is high right now so it is better to sell right now coz whatever you get for the btc you sell is definitely high that what you bought for.

We all know that the bitcoin as a relatively new economic phenomenon is almost impossible to foresee regarding its future behavior in such long term periods (ten or more years). It might be worth millions or also might be displaced by more advanced technologies.

That is why I have no problem with actively spend bitcoins in my ordinary transactions, and I continuously try to move my coins in and out because I don't know what will happen in the future, but I do know the current value of my coins.

i think by long term investment it mean 1 to 2 years of duration. and from short term investment it means the investment for hours and days. some tie i do long term investment and on regular basis i do long term investment i personally like short time investment. i do a little earning from it but do it continuously.
but i think that long term investment is much more good than short term investment because i also get a big profit from long term investment and short term investment can not make a good profit so i recommend that long term investment is good .

if i have much of bitcoin, i will hold it for at least 1 into 2 years from the time of i am buying and i know it will make a big profit. but i am not yet have that much, i will only hold by half of my bitcoin and wait for a good price to sell it and not for 1 years from now on.
Good idea that hold your bitcoin for year or 2 year because bitcoin increasing its price too much faster day to day and there is maximum people are going to buying bitcoin in huge amount and then hold their bitcoin for higher price .

We already know that investors invest on a particular asset because they want huge profit or returns on their investment but not all the time it requiring to wait "at least 5 years" because you can see that same year (2016) bitcoin is below 600$ and now it is very close to 1000$ and that is my point, not all the time you need to wait long because sometimes you just need some patience on holding and keep updating to the news about the coin so you will have a conclusion if you will hold it for another year or just wait for a few months to get 'target profit'.

It will depend a lot of the Bitcoin price. If I bought for $500, when it hits $800 and I know the price won't be stable, I sell all, wait the price down again and buy more one time. If I know the price will be stable, I just hold for the next "flash" pump. This way it's possible to make a good profit, the currency volatility allows we to do it, it's amazing.

Yeah holding bitcoin is always depend on the price or market movement.
Even though a short term of holder can gives you a lot of profit. Example, this year we can see that the price in the first quarter of the year is pretty lower than now but now you can see that the price is almost double or nearly tripled so it is not always depend on how long your will hold but depends on how the market moves.

It is one way to say it , but the market depend on the people who hold the bitcoin , it depends on the demand and how well there are suppliers there are , if people sell there will be less demand which means price goes down , if people hold more demand on it and the higher the price is, it is all connected.

Example, this year we can see that the price in the first quarter of the year is pretty lower than now but now you can see that the price is almost double or nearly tripled so it is not always depend on how long your will hold but depends on how the market moves.
It is one way to say it , but the market depend on the people who hold the bitcoin , it depends on the demand and how well there are suppliers there are , if people sell there will be less demand which means price goes down , if people hold more demand on it and the higher the price is, it is all connected.
in fact it also depend on the amount you have to invest, if you have good money to invest then you can even hold it for a long time and if some people have little investment then he cannot hold it for a long time and therefore short term investment is the best option for your.

I know some fridents. They keep on buying the bitcoin every months with small amount.
I know some of my friends keeps on buying bitcoin and they are taking up a part on their salary on which it is already lend of r buying bitcoin and saving up and never tend to sell or use it.I could say that if bitcoins price would rose even more in the future then they would really be rich since some of them is already holding decent amounts.

Trust and patience is the most important aspect for any investment..

If I would say that, Ripple altcoin will be $100/Coin in next 5 years (Hard to digest, but it can be or cannot be)

One has to back himself, when knowing that particular coin has good future prospects..

I am in for a minimum of 5 years holding. I was not excited by the rise in price lately as I knew it as all a bubble. Price cannot rise that fast no matter how popular bitcoin is. I also did a few selling and bought at less than 900 USD now, quite profitable trading for the time. I consider bitcoin as the best store value for all my money, yes all of them. No other investment has as a bright future as bitcoin has.

I have been a forex trader for more than three years and I use to talk about long term trading when  I keep open a trade for several weeks or months. But I have also realized that the altcoins trading is very different  so the short, medium and long term parameters may also be different,  tending to prevail the shorter time periods.

Even in terms of bitcoin, a year sounds like a very long time because of the great oscillation that can be observed in that period.

If you hold it longer, you will be rewarded lot.

I agree to you
We need to put a target span of time
To be able to make a conclusion
About on our investment in bitcoin
And also buying regular can less the risk of losing
Which is the best advice for newbies.

one year is enough for us to hold our Bitcoin. You can sell it and start another holding process by buying Bitcoin when the price is cheap. Many people have succeeded with this way and I doubt that you can fail. Only hold Bitcoin in more than 5 years when you have a good capital.

This is a very long time, real long term period and it's very hard to predict how the bitcoin will stand in that period, anything is possible. One year is enough time to hold and make decent profit and it's much more easier to watch the situation and react if necessary. But it depends also how much coins do you have.

If you know what you do, then in your given example the best option would be to use that €200 price to start buying as many coins as possible to average down the buying price of your initial investment. Only noobs cash out their coins with such insane losses as result....

One year is not enough to get real profit because there is a lot to wait for the real income to come through. If you want real income then it is best to hodl your bitcoin and save some bitcoin as much as you can for 5 years of long term investment and saving and after that you can harvest your ripe investment and taste that great profit by just doing nothing except saving ::).

In bitcoin long term were at least above 2years. I won't prefer long term investment with bitcoin as their is no assurance of future happening. I make investment depending upon the price fluctuation taking place.
To me though bitcoin and crypto currencies as money is at its infancy compared to conventional fiat and bank system. 2 years long terms investment might not be realistic. The historical value of bitcoin shown continuous price upward movement from 2008 till date so to me anything from  five years upward like other assets is worthwhile.

Yes its very very long wait and you will need a long patience and strong discipline into yourself because if you dont have these traits you will sell off your bitcoin on shorter periods of time when the price tends to increase. Thats why long term and your patience would really be worth when price of it would come to its peak.

In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?

Investing bitcoin in long years is sure profit. Bitcoin is high up to 100% per year so if you invest it in 5 years your capital will be times to five,,

I think its evident enough that people who invested on a long term basis while bitcoins was still in the startup financing stage trading below $10 are now enjoying profits but if you are a daily trader you can still make more profit in a short time frame, though 5years is a long time to wait.

5 year investing time is too long for me so that will be enough. But that is for different investment not with bitcoin. Here I am buying and selling trying to enlarge the capital that I have deposited.
It started when I want to have more knowledge with it. Thinking there is real profit and have experienced it once I just continued it up until now, somehow it made profit. The losses will always be there also.

what do you mean by "startup financing stage"?! bitcoin never had something like that. I think you are comparing it with altcoins with ICO!
bitcoin was released and from day one was supposed to be used as a p2p digital cash first as it is mentioned in the white paper too. and it was released this way and everyone could use it and mine it from those days.

and also you don't have to be from those "early adopters" to make profit. you can still get in and make profit. I got in not so long ago and I have made a very good profit.

You really cannot predict the long term future of bitcoin .But looking at the distant future it is bright and the chances of another bubble and a bull is there and it all depends upon the current development and approval of ETF and if that is approved the price might peak to new levels .

Cryptocurrency or a blockchain is technology which is still in the beta mode so any activity or project associated with it should be considered as an experiment. Thus any investment is also a high-risk investment and as a rule of thumb, high risk gives high returns. Any investment irrespective of short term or long term is a high-risk investment when it comes to cryptocurrencies.

I would only invest long term in them because I believe that the opportunity for gain is far greater than the risk of loss in more of a long-term setting. It's a roller coaster of ups and downs in the short term. Just buy them and hold onto them for about 5-9 years (This is just my opinion because the algorithm that controls the supply is set to cut in half 3 times within the next 9 years)

Yes long term is always the best because of its opportunity since there is a halving event where it lessen the supply of bitcoin and help the price to be even more expensive than before. Buying a lot of bitcoin now is a good idea and not a loss because you can double or even triple that capital just after a few years of holding.

If indeed bitcoin can last up to 30 years surely it would be great. And if someone invests during it would be very profitable and will become rich. I do not know whether bitcoin could survive for it or not, but investment in bitcoin for 30 years maybe worth trying. It could be for retirement savings. But I think the average investor bitcoin does not invest during it, I think they are investing around 5 years like a investment in general. It was a good time I think.

That scenario is a pointer to the fact that long term Bitcoin investment is not necessarily determined by length of time, but by the positive difference between the current price and price at the time of purchase. Evidently the technology is still evolving and the right thing to do is not to conclude all too soon what the future holds for something that is still taking shape. To that effect, following the developments in the market and the industry would serve as better guide to what decisions an investor takes.

It depends on the targets you set for yourself. If your goal is to buy at $1000 and to sell at $2000 where you approach it as a long term investment, then it can be seen as such until your goal is met. If the price happens to hit $2000 6 months later, your goal is met and thus you can close your position. From there a planned long term investment indeed doesn't mean it's really long term.

For me personally I don't really focus on targets at this point, but put confidence in what Bitcoin has to offer in the long term. I make sure I benefit from short term fluctuations to increase the number of coins that I have, while on the other side I keep my cold wallet coins until I see prices of at least $10,000 per coin. And then I will just cash out a certain portion, definitely not everything. I want to remain holding a good portion of my wealth in Bitcoin.

Actually the hold of bitcoin by anyone for the year is a matter to hold and sell Because the buy and sell for small time or one year even may not give the big change it is because the net gain in the stability in the price of the bitcoin can be see after 3-4 years , so here most of the big bitcoiners hold Thier bitcoin for long times , and mostly hold for 3 years atleast ( this is my opinion to get Profit that I seen in my life )

Mathematically the mining process of all bitcoins (100% of them, 21 million bitcoins) will end between the years, 2135-2145. But, this is not important. If you ask why, let's look at this below:

in 2028, 98.4% of total bitcoins,

In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?
You might get a lot of people that say less than 5 years but in reality regardless of the currency real profit only comes after at least 5 years and I would say 10.

Three years basically not holding money, 6 is not even enough to consider saving. You could probably make some profit after 3 years if there wasn’t a temporary decline but on average if you want your investment to be worthwhile IMHO you should wait at least 5 and ideally at least 10 years.

A long term Bitcoin investment for me could be as little as 10 years or as long as 30 years or possibly more. In 30 years, if Bitcoin survives, it could be worth $50,000 to $100,000 per Bitcoin.

But keep in mind that over 10 years, the prediction actually become like impossible. For the other thing, if it survives, the price between $10,000 and $50,000 would not be a surprise.

I dont think Bitcoin will survive more than 10 years if the situation continue like this and the possible prediction of price at that time will not be more than 50000$. Its on the 16mil mark right now and the maximum is 21mil as everyone know so that 5-10 years max.
how can you say that to me i think bitcoin will continue to survive for  thousands of years. i think there is nothing wrong to the future of bitcoin and bitcoin is really trading in a very good way and hope that it will continue for a long long time.
There is no point in believing that bitcoin is something eternal, indestructable.
The supply of 21 mil BTC does not neccesarily means that all people on the world will kill the other human being just to get a piece of a cake.
Indeed it is limited, but there is no reason why bitcoin cannot be beaten by some altcoin.

For now, it is mostly about how bitcoin is recognized.
Many people have heard about this specified cryptocurrency, but not about the others, but in 10 years, the most society may know what cryptocurrencies are, so it will be about which cryptocurrency has the best technology to offer.

Personally, I think that bitcoin might be beaten by more anonymous currency, which will provide very fast confirmations and also small fees to reduce the costs of transactions.

For me I think it depend on the money and financial status of the investor if the investor will have more money and he will not need to withdraw his money for his needs then he can invest for years and if the investor will need his money for his needs then he will put them for shorter time and that will be his long term

It would be similar to the traditional definition for most bitcoin investors.

Cryptocurrencies are going to change the world much like the auto and airplane changed travel! 8)

In my opinion, long term bitcoin buyers or investor rather are about  five to ten years in the business. A minimum of five years could already be considered as long term. The longer you wait, the higher profit you’d have.
