Title: Uquid bitcoin debit card reviews
Post by: tesco on August 17, 2016, 10:34:52 PM
Many thanks for Bitcointalk when i found the best bitcoin debit card for me

After my post about how to get free virtual bitcoin card
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1583480.0

I received some requested from bitcointalk member which i will give some reviews about uquid bitcoin card.

Firstly, i will come with some reviews about uquid card from trusted member of bitcointalk forum :

Uquid debit card review:

As a bitcoin user since 2013 I've gotten to know the pros and cons of bitcoin. When bitcoin-powered debit cards came out I was fascinated. Such products have the potential to bring users the best of both worlds. The privacy and freedom of bitcoin, and the nearly universal acceptance of debit cards. Ever since last year, I've been using a bitcoin debit card to bypass capital controls in my country, Greece. They come handy but up to this point comparable with conventional debit cards issued by banks in terms of cost up to this point. And I'm saying up to this point because Uquid has really managed to build a system that allows users to get maximum value out of their bitcoin when loading their debit cards.

Unlike other bitcoin debit cards, Uquid doesn't rely on misleading marketing tactics to advertise their product. I got to know about it through good ol' word of mouth and was immediately amazed at how great their debit card service is. Here's are some reasons that in my opinion make their card is one of the greatest debit cards.

Very low buying cost: Virtual cards are only 1 $/€/£
Privacy-friendly and near instant acquisition for virtual cards: After inputting some basic information, users receive their cards immediately. No requirements to upload documents or have to wait for verification.
Best bitcoin sell prices on the market: Deposits on Uquid accounts are done through BitPay, and BitPay "buys" bitcoins at market rates. So thanks to BitPay Uquid cards most definitely gives the best value to your bitcoins among all bitcoin debit card solutions.

More on the last point:
Bitpay's price is really a strong point here. Uquid is not adding any hidden fees. Other cards are claiming to have no fees but actually profit by adding a difference to their exchange rate. E-coin is a prime example of that.

https://i.imgur.com/muYDwbw.png (https://i.imgur.com/muYDwbw.png)

The image above indicates the price advertised in E-coin's (one of the most well-known bitcoin debit cards) landing page vs the actual rate. And the averaged market rate plus BitPay on Uquid. It's clear that fees on Uquid are very straightforward, absolutely no hidden fees. Here (https://i.imgur.com/Idto7LL.png) are Uquid's fees for reference. Even with those, the card provides greater purchasing power than others because of the rate being so good.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1242788.msg15766469#msg15766469

And

I've tried cryptopay and spectrocoin, they're pretty good. In my opinion, spectrocoin is better. Does anyone have a verdict on which one is better, uQuid or spectrocoin?

From my experience, Spectrocoin doesn't have bitcoin sell rates as good as the ones of BitPay. So based on that, You'd be getting better value for money with Uquid (which uses BitPay). Here they are side to side as of posting:

I read your review carefully and what I see is that uquid supports multi virtual cards using them at the same time.

What I want to know about these cards is there any overall limit to use these cards or there is a limit for each card (for example 2500€ each)

About the low cost, there is already one company which offers free bitcoin virtual debit card so this is an advantage of uquid.

you correct, they support for multi virtual card and each card have limit 2500euro ( if you upgrade to gold level - it will have no limit on each card)
let say : multil card + 2500€ = No Limit in total using
For example, you want cashout 10000€ bitcoin you just need to get 4 uquid card (if you verify documents then only 1 card)

Yes, uquid offer free virtual card is good point of them.  many new users do not have bitcoin but still need a card for verify some website. then they can use uquid

I can say that until now seems that the uquid is one of the best bitcoin debit card service (for me the best one)

Because offering unlimited bitcoin debit cards for those that don't want to verify theirself to them is perfect.

I'm going probably ordering a new bitcoin debit card there on the next week and test it how it works.

I checked the uquid and cryptopay websites. Though uquid is cheaper than cryptopay, it appears to be less legitimate simply because they write bad English

I might use uquid to verify paypal, but once I get my funds I will check out quickly. My funds won't spend up to a month on uquid.

Today I deposited 45$ to order a virtual card. But when I try t buy a card it says invalid country. Lol you people should mention it somewhere that we don accept some country. Now what should I do with my those 45$. There is no way to withdraw in btc?

Hi irfan_pak10,
I am sorry for some country we can not provide cards service yet.
(we already mentioned before you accept buy card - List countries uquid card not supported yet (https://uquid.com/restricted-countries) )

In this case, it very simple when you buy a card you just change to another country which not in this list. With that virtual bitcoin debit card (https://uquid.com) you still using normal for shopping online, verify paypal .....

if you need more support please contac us (https://uquid.com)

Regard,

love you man  :P It works, I tried 3-4 cards and no one works and i was like try to pay on that site from last 4 days. And your card worked on that site and made it possible lol.

Nice service Recommended.

Best of Luck

Regards

Reviews from my personal experiences with uquid

#1. They do have highest price for bitcoin in market as they using bitpay ( bitpay famous with high price of bitcoin and no have hidden fees)

#2. They support for multi card buy. that mean you will not get block for your card if you buy multi card. this feature that what i most like from uquid. My friends got experience with some website they can give you option for second card or thirth card buy but after you buy card few days you will get blocked and you get lost money in the card. uquid can hold money in balance for free and you can load when you need to use.

https://i.imgur.com/bFNMUXG.png

#3. Low cost buy card : just 1$ you can get card for verify paypal ( instead of paying 15$ for VCC seller )

#4. Anonymous : they do not required any document for verify that mean you just need put different information for new card and you keep using without worry about block or verification.

#5. No Fees : They gave customer advice for no using with different currency (some another card they do not give you advice, and when you using with different currency you have, you pay huge fees for them) I used same currency when paying with usd card and i do not have to pay any fees for convert. Rememeber, you will have to pay convert fees if you using USD card for pay in website which they take EUR

#6. Fast and Friendly support: i got support for just few hours. That been good so far.

I already order uquid plastic card. after i got one i will give another reviews about uquid plastic

The uquid site has a horrible interface and is disgusting to work with and use, however.

Spectrocoin and CryptoPay both have cheaper cards and better looking sites. Pretty much the only valid point is that they use bitpay. And if you're using such a big amount of bitcoin to purchase something that this price difference will actually be noticable, you shouldn't be paying with bitcoin. Just use your credit card for god's sake.

I agree with you uquid interface need to improve . but we can not say they good or bad if only can see the face.
In my experiences with them, i am happy with their service and price of bitcoin so far.

Spectrocoin get scam warning and reported in this forum. did you know about that ?

I'm going probably ordering a new bitcoin debit card there on the next week and test it how it works.

From their official website I found that they have both Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wavecrest.mobile.cocsi&hl=en & iOS https://itunes.apple.com/gm/app/uquid-card/id1094336159?mt=8

I checked the uquid and cryptopay websites. Though uquid is cheaper than cryptopay, it appears to be less legitimate simply because they write bad English - this does not show professionalism.

Hey.

I have $14.90 in my uquid USD account and am trying to buy a virtual card, but the system tells me "Insufficent funds".

What is going on?

My guess is either you miss clicked and instead of virtual card tried to buy standard plastic card - which costs $16.99

Or Uqid system recognized your virtual card buying attempt as standard card...

While buying virtual card your total fees should be: Virtual Card Issuance Fee (one-time cost) $1 + Monthly Service Fee $1  - Total: $2

Looking very promising, will try out very soon! Will be useful in EUR for me, but since creation of new cards is easy you can have multiple currencies if needed.

Good to see that there is fast reply and useful answers here in the forum. Get your Uquid card here (https://uquid.com/account/register/a?u=UQ278491)!  ;D

Where could I find an actual list of alt coins that you support? At the first place, I am looking for whether you support Burst, but I would like to know the other opportunities also.

I was very impressed with the super fast delivery of my plastic card.

Is there any reason why there is no feature for holding BTC balances? I had a bit of trouble loading my dollar balance by sending bitcoin, and thought that it might be simpler to have a BTC balance to then transfer to fiat card balances.

I think it is not allowed at any place as the uquid will send the card on the name at which they will register your card and the postal company will not give your parcel to any other person. But if Uquid register your card on your name and they will send it on your friend name then it is possible that you get the card in that way.

I've loaded some money there and made some exchange operations, now leaving my feedback on this forum.

My account's statement:

Details on 2 simple exchange transactions:

https://s15.postimg.org/6c915sba3/Screenshot_from_2016_12_07_11_19_49.png

I wrote to support asking why these 2 operations ate just about 230$ and here is an answer:
Quote
Dear Mr Alex
Many thank for contact us
Please noted that when you exchange money you have to follow our bank
rate and + 3% convert fees charge by bank. (we never encourage any
customer exchange too much because you will lost much in fees charge by
bank ) our system only charge 0.5% fees on top of 3% bank fees.
We strongly advice you deposit usd and load fund direct with your USD
fund, please no using exchange system which will make you lost in
exchange transaction

I do apologies for any inconvenient caused

disappointed. wtf, I never ever lost 230$ by simply exchanging a small amount of usd (988$) to euro and back just using a payment system's account without even reaching any cards.
also, 230$ is definitely not 3% of 988$, nor 700 euros....

Also what i specially disliked and they haven't described it in any visible form:
- i can't load more than 1000usd per 24 hours to the account's balance (not a card), system says I've exceed the limit i wasn't aware of.
- I can't make any daily account/cards turnover that exceeds 1000$, the system says i am out of limit.
- i can't withdraw my money in bitcoins

General:
if you want fast and serious service, this one is not what you look for.

you can withdraw money back to bitcoin via our exchanger parter

please contact with our support team. we can help you recover the lost for exchange because of low bank rate

This uquid website has one of the sh*test supports.

Everybody should know that if you lose your login details like account id and security code and pin, than there is no way to recover it and you can kiss your money goodbye. In this situation i am now.
I have money in my balance and have their CC and ID verified account and lost the file in which i was keeping login details.
Contacted costumer support- they asked to specify the last transactions to verify identity. I gave that info to them. After that they never came back to me. I sent 5 or 6 requests to them already and they did not respond to any. They never came back to me. Its 2 weeks i can not get in touch to them as they are not responding. Out of patience.. Useless and sh*test customer support ever.

I've tonight tried out UQUID for a GBP virtual debt card and in contrast to the OP, I find there are hidden misleading fees, to the extent that the OP sounds like a shill informercial.

Quote
allows users to get maximum value out of their bitcoin when loading their debit cards.

Quote
Uquid doesn't rely on misleading marketing tactics

Quote
Uquid is not adding any hidden fees.

Let's review their fees - https://uquid.com/fees
Quote
Many methods deposit into uquid with 0% fees
Code:
Set Up:
Virtual Card Issuance Fee (one-time cost) £1.00
Monthly Service Fee £1.00
Spend Money: Association transaction Per transaction £0.00
Deposit Fee Bitcoin Per transaction 0%
Withdraw Fee Bank Transfer Per transaction 3%

What they don't tell you - transferring from BTC to GBP they charge between 1% to almost 3% exchange fee above the bitpay exchange rate

https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates
US Dollar   $952.52 USD
Eurozone Euro   €905.09 EUR
Pound Sterling   £772.09 GBP
Canadian Dollar   $1,280.01 CAD
Chinese Yuan   ¥6,615.06 CNY

Attempting a deposit of £772.09, Uquid generates a payment QR code for 1.01 BTC (+1%)
Attempting a deposit of £5, Uquid generates a payment QR of nearly +3% above the bitpay exchange rate.

From the GBP balance in one's account, to then add funds to the debt card costs additional fees which are not listed in the fee schedule.  I would have to assume this funding step is mandatory as it is a Visa debt card.

Code:
Load balance into card
NOTE :
Max fee: £50.00
Min fee: £0.10
Transfer fee: 0.5%
Minimum amount: £0.00
Maximum amount: £1,000.00

So from my experience UQIUD does have deliberately misleading hidden fees when exchanging bitcoin and when loading the debt card of up to +3.5%.

Additionally if there is an excess fiat balance you want to convert back to BTC, UQUID charges 3% + whatever fees are charged by their linked conversion - their first listed "Exchanger" charges 5.5-6.6% fees

Hi,

Where I can see the bitpay exchange rate ?

1 BTC <--> $957.69

real time

(I am uncertain whether there is an additional +1% fee somewhere for using the card for purchases .....)

Additionally if there is an excess fiat balance you want to convert back to BTC, UQUID charges 3% + whatever fees are charged by their linked conversion - their first listed "Exchanger" charges 5.5-6.6% fees

I have previously spoken well of the Uquid card. I would like to see a specific response from the Uquid staff about this post.

I have previously spoken well of the Uquid card. I would like to see a specific response from the Uquid staff about this post.

I found another post linked from the OP, here is what Uquid have to say about the hidden 1% fee on top of their advertised 0% fee

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1485950.msg16199105#msg16199105

Edit :
This just gets worse and worse, I've loaded bitcoin into GBP to my Uquid wallet and added the virtual credit card to PayPal.

Everything in Uquid and PayPal is set to GBP, but when attempting to make a GBP payment with PayPal linking my Uquid virtual credit card, the native currency of this card is GIB -- Gibraltar Pounds. This means a 3% PayPal fee hence the conversion rate : £1.00 GIP = £0.959575106 GBP

So my total fee for using Uquid is +1+3+0.5 = +4.5%

Edit 2 :
a google search led me to these posts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072856.msg16918096#msg16918096

linking to this post
https://www.giffgaff.com/money/loans/tips-exchange/personal-finance/avoid-paypals-high-foreign-exchange-rates

To set this up in PayPal, go here https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_profile-merchant-pull-funding&buyer_hub and choose "Conversion Options" next to your funding source. Then, on the following page choose "Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice"
https://www.giffgaff.com/money/images/uploads/tip/131_Untitled-1.jpg

:D :D I was successfully able to use my GBP loaded balance to pay a GBP paypal invoice without forex fees  :D :D

Hi
we already explain about fees many time already
we do not charge any fees for bitcoin deposit
1% fees charge by bitpay and you can check it easy in bitpay website
we charge 0% fees for bitcoin

We did very careful research before we choice bitpay. they got highest price on market even 1% fees they charge you still get best price compare with all other service

The fees and charges page needs to list all applicable fees. It lists wavecrest card fees like the $1 per month, and ATM fees.

However your fees page neglects to show the applicable 1% bitpay fee, and the 0.5% loading fee. It is impossible for a consumer to use bitcoin on your platform without paying this fee.

One key difference with other sites like steam (bitpay) is if I pay a steam invoice I do not pay an extra 1% the recipient absorbs it. Bitpay is not a consumer orientated business, it is a merchant payment processor.

I'm not suggesting the bitpay fee is unfair (localbitcoins charges advertisers "makers" 1%, and in my country credit card surcharges are frequently added to the invoice for CC payments) just that it is undisclosed on your fees page.

So in summary, using bitcoin with a virtual debt card in GBP via PayPal, the fees were 1% + 0.5% + £1. This is much better than the forex / PayPal fees of using my normal credit card.

What about the fee cryptopay?
they have fewer decimal places in the value of Bitcoin 0.1234 BTC

So your actual fee is 1,5%?

Don't slag people off who are asking questions by saying "we have answered before". It is clear from a whole page of questions - and your last, unclear answer - that there is a lot of confusion.

I used Uquid for the first time the other night. I sent bitcoin to there account. You click on deposit bitcoin and supply a bitcoin address. After a few hours nothing had showed up. I sent them an email. a day later they responded with that they had found nothing. I then sent the transaction information on the block chain to prove it went to there address. They then told me that have no way of checking because they use a gateway call bitpay. So I guess they don't even have control over their own bitcoin wallets. They sent me bitpays website and told me to check with them. Wow. alarm bells are starting to go off.

So far the whole thing sounds like a scam. how can you not confirm a transaction sent to your wallet, its the blockchain. so bells are ringing loud. Even on the of chance this isnt a scam. Why do they need to use another company as a gateway.. i will never use Uquid again. Im pretty sure its a scam. I checked out the wallet and it has 1 star on google play every review says it doesn't work. Some times I guess you learn the hard way and lose some bitcoin learning.

Stay away folks.  If its not a scam which i think it is, its very very badly set up. if you like your bitcoins. don't use this service.

Uquid does not have a bitcoin wallet... if you transfer BTC to them, you transfer it to Bitpay. They do the conversion to EUR/GBP/USD. If you don't transfer the exact amount as requested, things don't add up and it needs a manual intervention.

How much EUR (or GBP or USD) did you want to deposit? How much BTC did you have to send to Bitpay? What is the transaction, let's have a look at it.

I simply not recommend this company to give you your bitcoins, I dont know if its a big scam or just a bad managed startup. Once you transfer your bitcoins, there is no way you have them back. I tried to purchase a plastic card but it was impossible because system keeps saying that you have one or other error, first it was that i didnt have funds, then i deposit 17 usd in bitcoins and then tried again and then was that my zip code accepts letters and spaces, i dont understand this, my zip code has only numbers but even i add letters it keeps warning and cant order my card, even a virtual card i cant order. So i tried to withdraw my 17 usd, and its practically impossible, it can only accept transfer greater than 100 usd, no way to convert my 17 usd again to bitcoin, so i think this shitty company scammed me, dont let you do the same. I fall because tesco recommendation, but i think is the same as the owner. >:(

Hi

I am sharing my experience with UQUID at February 26, 2017.

As an avid BitCoin User, I have almost all BitCoin Debit cards and I am always open to explore and try new services and cards.
Yesterday I was reading a similar post like this one, sharing the great benefits of UQUID, so I decided to try. I opened a new account, transfer some bitcoins to my account and is been 24 hours and the funds still pending.

I contacted UQUID to find out what the delay in the transfer and I still waiting for an answer.

I will share my final experience with UQUID #UQUID UQUIDDebitcard

What do you mean 'funds still pending'? Did the Bitpay transaction get confirmed? Then your credit should be listed in the interface

Do you have trouble transferring your credit onto a card? It's the weekend, as usual their bank account gets drained and you have to wait until Monday morning until the bank opens before they can transfer in new funds like the one from Bitpay. Did you see the notice on the web interface?

hi
i am sorry for that issue
however, if you order card with "standard delivery"
your card will delivery with postal service " send a a letter"
and it could delay by your local postal service
i am not sure what country you from (if your country postal service not really good and fast, we advice you using Express delivery option which your card will delivery with DHL and have tracking number

please contact us if you need further advice

I live in Canada but you don't offer a card in CDN. Does that mean every time I make a ATM withdrawal with the card in Canada I will be charged 3% for conversion?

Hello
yes you have to pay VISA for this fees as we do not have card support for CDN yet
The best way you should find the ATM in there where you can get USD or bank or local exchanger service can accept USD for USD cash which you can save this fees

Wow. That's about all I can say. Nice support, Uquid. I do believe you have convinced me to get the physical card...

So, Uquid, I'm about to throw a fit.

1) Why would you advertise this card to an American audience -- and give them NO indication BEFORE they transfer funds to you -- that IF you live in the United States, you CANNOT get this card?

2) Do you believe that Americans occupy only a very shallow percentage of these boards?

3) Why do you offer and list USD as your FIRST conversion choice, when US citizens CANNOT get this card?

4) What do I do now that I have transferred BTC to you, whereupon you automatically converted it to USD, and is sitting in an unuseable account?

Which brings me back to question 1)...

I am not going to choose an illegitimate country just so I can use this card.

Please advise. If I cannot legally receive this card in the United States, I "do" expect to be refunded my full BTC amount. Now.

IF US citizens CANNOT receive this card, You need to POST that in your Advertisements. There is NO reason -- other than deception -- NOT to make this information known BEFORE US citizens transfer ANY amount of money to Uquid.

I suggest that Uquid not use the "but the virtual card..." defense. The "virtual card" does NOT require that you transfer $16.99 into the account BEFORE receiving it. You must inform your audience BEFORE they transfer money to you.

So... ??

1) Why would you advertise this card to an American audience -- and give them NO indication BEFORE they transfer funds to you -- that IF you live in the United States, you CANNOT get this card?

I guess you did not read the text in the popup when buying a new physical card that clearly states:

Please note: We can not delivery your card to Restricted countries. YOU WILL NOT GET REFUND WHEN YOU HAVE CONFIRMED: BUY CARD

Did you even check the list?

https://uquid.com/restricted-countries

See United States listed?

2) Do you believe that Americans occupy only a very shallow percentage of these boards?

From the broken English I read here, I guess it's indeed a very shallow percentage ;-)

3) Why do you offer and list USD as your FIRST conversion choice, when US citizens CANNOT get this card?

Because most of the online sales are done in USD, if I buy stuff from China, I pay in USD. Not EUR, not RMB

4) What do I do now that I have transferred BTC to you, whereupon you automatically converted it to USD, and is sitting in an unuseable account?

Buy a virtual card, spend it online

Please advise. If I cannot legally receive this card in the United States, I "do" expect to be refunded my full BTC amount. Now.

How about reading the small print before you click buy?

https://i.imgur.com/KwZvV5h.png

I read a lot of entitlement in your complaint... are you a millenial?

Why do you think the world turns around the USA? Should one post all exceptions in advertisments being made? Will you even read the exceptions in the advertisments as clearly you did not read the one visible on the screen when ordering the card.

The only valid point you have is that the country "United States minor outlying..." should be removed from the list of countries that people can select when ordering a physical card.

I am also using this service and I found d that the delay in the transaction is not because of their service or is only in this service but nowadays the transactions are more in number so our one take time. It is happening to all the Bitcoin transactions. Now I am paying high fees for transactions and the problem is solved for me.

Hey UQUID,

I am tempted by the idea of a crypto debit card, but something about it makes me feel uneasy and I feel I don't fully understand the fees.
Can you tell me what the fees would be for these hypothetical transaction so that I know I am not misunderstanding.

1a ) Depositing 0.001 bitcoin
1b ) Depositing 1 ethereum
1c ) Depositing £10 (GBP)

2a ) If I deposited 1 eth (hypothetically worth £100 for easy maths) and then withdrew £10 from a free cash machine, what would the total cost in fees be (show your workings)?
2b ) Same as above but what if I transferred the money to another account rather than withdrawing it?

3 ) Do I have access to my private keys/ can I freely take my cryptocurrencies out of my account at any time?

If you deposit a certain amount, for example 1 ETH. You need to convert it to USD (or your preferred currency) before transferring it to your UQUID card. You can't deposit a crypto currency directly to the card. The withdrawal fee is 3% for all currencies.

I stopped in to give a review and talk about my experiences.  Last week, I had a problem with my debit card where there was a technical difficulty when I sent some Ether to load my balance. This may have been a problem from my end, I closed the deposit page while sending the Ether, I also sent from Coinbase (which I instantly realized I shouldn't have done).  I don't know. But I contacted their Skype support who followed up throughout the next couple of days. This was a sizable amount of money that I thought might have been lost. I posted links to the transactions showing the correct amount had been sent.  Their support team was working with their partner company to find the cause of my issue.  Since a couple of days had passed without a resolution between Uquid and their partner (because it was the weekend, I assume), they manually added my credit to my account and said that they would figure it out next week.  I am very impressed with how this handled.  My money was credited on a Sunday! I've loaded money before and after this isolated incident without any problems.

I will continue to use and recommend this company!

Hi Uquid, yesterday I got my plastic card and wanted to load it's balance but have couple of issues.

1. I have made a deposit today with Decred but my balance is still 0. Status says "confirmed". Skype support is not responding. Sent through contact form as well.
2. More than week ago I sent verification docs but got yesterday weird email that my upgrade was cancelled. Why? It transactions it is still in "pending".

Could you, please, clarify the situation?

Yesterday i used Uquid Zcash to USD exchange service. My experience is not good.

They don't show you the exact exchange rate you will get. which is most important information for any exchanger. So you don't have any control over exchange, u just send zcash to their account and hope to get any rate!!! which is frustrating.

I exchanged some zec i got 333$/Zac while it was over 411+$/Zac at other exchanger like kraken.

This company's website is VERY misleading! Their site says "Instant" deposits when sending crypto currencies. I sent some Litecoin so that I could order a virtual debit card for an online purchase. Within minutes of sending the Litecoin, I received an email that said:

"You got a transaction email of deposit processing, until admin approve, it is pending transaction"

Followed by a receipt from Shapeshift showing that UQUID converted the Litecoin that I sent to bitcoin.

However, an hour later and my funds are still not available on their website. Deposit still says pending. Unbelievable! I hate bait and switch tactics by companies. If users have to wait for "Admin approval" then say so before having them send coins! Waiting for an "admin approval" is NOT instant and should not be on the deposit page. Had I would have known this in advance, I would have NEVER used your site.

I should have went with my first mind which was to use the wirex card. Deposits are instant and there is none of this waiting for admin approval foolishness.

Oh, and I sent the exact amount. The FAQ says deposits will be pending for manual review if you don't sent the exact amount. So save that excuse.

Pissed!

Hi, I just opened an account at Uquid.

I see that for depositing you have to specify the currency (ie. EU) and then say how many you want to put there. This number will never be accurate, what happens with the excess  of money? if I want to put 50€ but I put more crypto of needed? or less? will be the 50€ adjusted? or what?

thanks

I see that for depositing you have to specify the currency (ie. EU) and then say how many you want to put there. This number will never be accurate, what happens with the excess  of money? if I want to put 50€ but I put more crypto of needed? or less? will be the 50€ adjusted? or what?

When you want to deposit EUR 50, then the site will calculate the right exchange rate in BTC using

https://bitpay.com/api/rates/EUR + 1% fee (what Bitpay charges the merchant)

and you have to pay the exact BTC amount requested

If you pay too much or not enough, there is need for manual intervention from Uquid support and that will slow down you transaction

I have the following questions:

  • What are the possible "risks" of getting verified to GOLD level?
  • I tried depositing a small ETHER amount once, and the EUR I got was far less than I expected. Once I asked for an explanation, the -excellent- customer support of UQuid informed me that rates are not standard and that it is a bit of luck. Well, for those that do not want luck as a factor, now that BTC-e is gone, which method should we use for best -and guaranteed- rates? Maybe another exchange with voucher support will be added?

hello
many thank for your question
1. there is no risks at all at GOLD level
2. the "real-time" deposit the estimate value at time deposit could different with the real payment at the time our partner processing payment. if you want fix rate . you should pay within 10min and choice deposit method is "instant deposit"
we will try find alternative voucher for btc-e soon . however, i can advice you using bitcoin which you could better price than altcoins

Thank you for your reply.

By "risks" of GOLD level I mean that in order to go GOLD you lose your anonymity. What are the conditions that could force UQuid to reveal a customer's personal information to authorities?

What I mean is: I guess that UQuid would have to reveal some information in case of a specific research for a specific person and that is logical and acceptable.. But is there any chance that UQuid would agree with a government to provide massive information on all of the customers who live in that country in order that country's IRS (tax department) to cross identify all of their transactions in UQuid?

To be clear, I have nothing to hide, I am just curious

They will replace the cards? They will do it in express mode for those who payed for that?

You right, Support is very nice. I had few hundreds in the USD wallet and they returned it to my BTC addr as I requested.
They are working hard to fix the issue and I can tell you, This is by far the best support I ever had in digital currency, different from others that take weeks to reply and don't tell you the truth.

I hope the service comes back ASAP so I can use UQUID again. This issue just make me confident it is NOT scam.

Furthermore, the Bitcoin debit card companies work with MyChoice need to notify users who don't live in those countries that they need to spend all their balance in 30 days, after which the cards will be suspended. (In another word, you can 't use your card after 30 days)

So I'm a luck newbie!!. You decide.
I had some money in UQUID USD waiting to transfer to the debit card, the issue came for 1, 2 days then I thought as we always first think "I lost my money".
Came here in this thread to find out some info and I found one member seems to be a guy from Uquid support team.
Sent him a pvt asking for help and he did.
My money is back into my BTC wallet.
So What can I say? All I can do is tell you what happened I hope you can get your money back like I did.
Not scam for me, unfortunately it may end up scam for someone else.

But you right, newbie stories are suspect above all.

If this is the real problem then I can't understand why also users from Europe are not able to use the card anymore, UQUID did block all card transaction no matter what country you're from. Did pay 30 EURO for two cards but could never use it, can I get a refund if the cards can't be used anymore in the short term.

I don't think it's Uquid that blocks it, I think it's Wavecrest who wants to renegotiate their deal with the front-ends to their cards

If the cards are not useable, I would expect Uquid to provide a free replacement once they have a new card issuer

TL;DR : It says on their website my country is supported for plastic card delivery but it's not... They blamed their card issuer when it's obviously their fault if they show wrong infos on their website... And still today the list has not been edited!

€20 transferred for nothing...

All these exchanges share the same fate. Their cards will cease to work from 15 October 2017 for all card holders whose registered KYC addresses are not included in the allowed countries list.

At this time, the best and only option is to wait for a more lasting solution. I hope there will be positive developments soon.

Do not engage in their ICO. I am a customer of UQUID card, I top up my card with USD 1000. Their card suddenly unable to use anymore few months ago, and I contact their customer service, they said that do not offer service for non-EU customer. But I am unable to transfer balance to account up to now. Scam at all. No solution at all.

It's important to mention that back when they lost their original card providing partner they had sent a message indicating that it would only take them 2-3 weeks to find a new partner and finalize deals with them. This was a couple of months ago and it still seems like they have not fulfilled their promise. Now, the entire fiasco with wavecrest happened some time in between, so it is possible that this legitimately delayed them, but I doubt it's a different issue. I believe UQUID simply got to know earlier. Also, to be fair with them, I did have access to my card for a reasonable amount of time before they set up a firewall to completely geo-block people who weren't inside their regions of service. I also am able to access them occasionally, albeit I am not sure why. Maybe something is wrong with their firewall?

Why this restriction ? i still have money in € in my uquid account. i let the card empty because it doesn't work after oct 15th, and i was waiting for a solution for countries outside EU.

I have checked that right now and i found that this website is now live but still we cannot say anything about it because many people have some doubts about it and they also have disabled their cards so that is very hard to believe on their ICO right now. They were very trusted but at the time when they started their ICO this time there are many problems to people.

I consider to sign up and request a Bitcoin debit card from Uquid. I want to know if I need to provide any personal data except the address to ship the card? Also, I would like to know if a verification is needed? I read that some card providers allow non-verified cards but the limit of withdrawals and payments are limited. Does this hold for Uquid as well?

If you want to request a bitcoin debit card then you have to wait as they are currently no issuing any cards and busy in ICO and searching for new partner they are issuing cards without verification but in this case some problems can happen to you best is complete your verification and then use card for deposits and withdrawals without any problem on all sites

I can't confirm for sure anymore because I am no longer able to access their website, but if my understanding of their official blog update is correct, every customer now has to verify their accounts if they are inside the European Union. If they are outside of the EU, they cannot actually get a card at all anymore, which is why I am now blocked from their site. Before their update, it was possible to have a completely unverified account and still get the card with fair withdrawal/transaction limits as you are suggesting others do, but I believe that has changed now.

Edit: It seems I might have been wrong. The website no longer blocks me. Check out my reply below to someone else's inquiry.

No, for the most part it's not.

If you want a quick way to check, try accessing https://uquid.com/. If the website is not blocked then that means that your country is probably accepted.

EDIT: Ok, for some reason the site is no longer blocking me, even though I know for a fact that I should be. This has happened before and I keep getting randomly blocked and unblocked, so maybe it is not a geo-IP blocked after all? I am honestly not sure about what their policy for different countries is now, I could not find much about it. What I do know is that the country must at least NOT be set to one of those inside this list: https://uquid.com/restricted-countries. This means that only virtual cards are allowed for people in those countries, as physical cards cannot be shipped there. If someone is in this situation and wants to talk about what happens, please do, as I am curious about it myself.

What do you mean with new partners? As far as I know they are currently partnering with VISA. Are they looking to partner with Mastercard? Other big card providers doe not exist, except American Express, but it does not partner is such fields of business.
Since Uquid is currently not issuing new cards, do someone have experience with an alternative provider? I am urgently looking for a good service for a Bitcoin debit card.

A card provider is not the same as a card network. A provider is the one with the card licensing and partnerships with Visa/Mastercard already set up. A card network such as Visa or Mastercard is one that already has all transaction endpoints set up for the user. The provider simply partners up with Visa/Mastercard/whomever in order to be able to issue cards to people. Companies and organizations such as UQUID then make deals/contracts with providers and agree to follow their rules and guidelines for issuing cards under different customization options for their respective clients. Furthermore, the actual providers don't usually hold the money in the accounts, as the end companies themselves usually have a system for that. If you look at the API for a provider you will be able to see what UQUID and other similar companies have access to and have to manage on their end. A lot of it is actually out of their control and depends on the providers.

Hi,

I read few posts above that UQUID is not issuing more cards.
Is this issue already being solved? I am interested to get a plastic card.
For the Silver package, there is a maximum top up of 2500$, this is a lifetime limit or a monthly/weekly limit?
The same applies to the ATM withdrawals which are up to a maximum 1000$, lifetime/monthly..?

How many cards can you have linked to the same account?

Do you know another debit card which is accepting NAV coin as a cryptocurrency?

Thanks!

They have not fixed this issue since Aug 2017 and I don't think it will be solved anytime soon.
If you live outside of Europe there aren't any plastic cards you can get.
I live in Montreal, Canada and I cannot find any company that will issue BTC or Altcoin debit cards.
I have tried the following companies (some may work in US):
-UQUID
-CryptoPay
-Monaco
-Xapo
-TenX
-Wirex
-SpectroCoin
-AdvCash
-ShakePay
-SHIFT
-BitWala
-SatoshiTango

And none of these companies can issue cards outside of Europe, all because of Visa (or mastercard, I forget) changed their policy.
The only option I can think of is either to get a virtual card from Wirex. I have been able to get a virtual card from Wirex but I haven't tested it yet by making a purchasing with it.
I'm still looking for ways to sell bitcoins for cash but there aren't that many options.
UQUID is a good option to go with but I would wait until you register, their fees are somewhat low but they only issue USD, GBP or EUR cards; which means you can only spend that kind of fiat currency.
Here is a link to their fees site.

Wondering where are you from?
I am from New Zealand and having difficulty to find any provider which accept from NZ. I need a card in Euro or USD to pay services online.

Can you please check on the back of the card, who is the issuer? Other companies (Bitwala, Cryptopay, TenX) use WaveCrest, who don't permit issuing outside of the EU. So, I wonder who is the issuing company behind UQUID. Thanks.

This service is a scam, the limits from tge website doesn't match.
After i verified an account and was KYC_2 level for tge new paynetics plastic card i loaded some xrp for the equivalent of 500€ now the money is stuck on the account and i always get an error that there are not enough funds to load the card.....
Customer service is trying more then 2 days to sort out the problem and it seems they cant resolve the issue, skype support doesnt answer and mail support has no clue how to solve this.
Stay tuned i will follow with proof of this case, in the meantime don' t use the service, atm its a scam of its finest!

I am having the same issue, I have loaded my card with 120$USD and they havent given me the PIN to buy things in store, or get cash from the ATM.
I tried their support page, Skype, Telegram, Support Email. No Response what-so-ever.
I wouldn't want to call them a scam since they did work back in March, but ever since then it's just been a bad experience.
I think they are still in the process of integrating Paynetics into their system cause I'm noticing a lot of small changes in the members area.
Hopefully they get this stuff sorted out soon.

Wel at least you managed to get $120 onto your card, most of us did not get that far ;-)

I guess you must have activated your card (or you can't load it)?

I got an email from cards@paynetics.digital which looks like a weird domain so perhaps it ended up in your spamfolder? The email contained the text:

bro i love you... I feel like such a dumbass right now. its 3:42am in Montreal right now and I just checked my junk mail and found the email.
I didn't have to do anything to activate my card. All i did was upload my documents to get KYC2 and now I can load it.
This whole time Ive been harrasing UQUID support line for it and it was in my junk mail the whole time.

UQUID, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. I will buy ur ICO <3

Also, while I was going though this craziness I saw that Paynetics has a support phone number on their site (+359 2 806 56 14).
Turns out that the phone number listed on their website belongs to a Bulgarian Hotel, the owner speaks broken english, so don't bother with them.
UQUID number is still not reponding, neither are they on Skype or Telegram. They need to hire a bunch of people to cover the support line.
On another note, I'm very happy to know that the bitcoin community responded quicker than the UQUID team.
Thanks to you I can now go to sleep with a piece of mind.

Well the problem isnt loading the card, neighter spending the first 120$  the real problem comes after the verification to kyc_2  since you cant load the card because the money in your account is blocked. They show you just the number of your amount of money, but its gone it isnt there!!  The email support did answer back that they have bankwire problems....ouch
I searched for other people with same problem, you will find alot of them, just look on uquids twitter and facebook the shitstorm they are getting lol. I asked for a refund yesterday for my remaining money but they are not answering till now. Way to go Uquid next step is a mail to the consumer protection department ;)

Yea uquid has been facing a lot of technical problems because of the whole VISA policy change, they had a good thing going for a while right up until July of 2017.
I don't know how many developers they have working on this issue, or what problems they're dealing with. But I don't think this is a large company at all, or else they would've sent out a mass e-mail to all of their users advising them about their current issues.
I was able to load my card a few days ago, not sure why you're having issues.
I'll try to load some money again and I'll let you know if it goes through or not. With my experience, bank wire transfer never worked for me.
Just today, I wanted to test it by depositing 100$ worth of ETC, they are charging me 138$USD worth of ETC in exchange for $100 to be deposited into my account. That exchange rate to me is ridiculous, worse than Coinbase.
UQUID needs to upgrade their game on the client support, I'm sure it's just one person dealing with Skype and Telegram support line.

After hearing that people can't deposit funds into their account its kinda worrying me.

From my earlier comment I mentioned that they're taking a 37$ from that specific transaction, which I didn't complete.
All I did was request a deposit to see what I would pay, and now on my account I have a "Pending Transaction" notice.
My fear is that if I were to deposit funds into my account it'll just say "Pending" the whole time.

Is that whats's happening to everyone else? Where are you getting stuck in the depositing part?

I have just deposited 200$USD (using ETC) into my UQUID account today.
I will post again once I can load the 200$ onto the card. For this transaction it says 'pending'.
In their FAQ section it says it could take up to 72 hours to verify it, back in the day (July/16) it would be almost instantly deposited.
Their price for ETC is ridiculous, I sent them 236$USD (9.1583 ETC) worth of coins but they only fill 200$ and say that "there are no fees".
I checked out all other types of deposits and they are all asking ~36$ extra for any kind of coin deposit.
Always check the amount of coins they're asking for and compare the amount to the market, they are overpricing the sh*t out of these deposits.

For now, I have no choice since there's no other option for a 'crypto debit card' solution.
If anyone out there can refer me to another cryptocard that ships to Canada, Please let me know cause I really need a better solution.

**Edit**
200$USD was deposited into my account within 15mins, I'm actually impressed.
I guess UQUID has their shit back together.
I see that everyone is stuck getting their funds loaded from their account onto the card.
I'm getting an error saying: "Card service is not available now. Please try again later.".
I'm not really sure what UQUID is doing about this, I'm assuming that they are in the process of integrating their website with the card issuers API to deposit funds onto the card instantly.
Hopefully this will be sorted out in the following weeks.

Monthly Card fees is just 1$.
Update, I was able to load my card into my account. I guess they finished integrating their systems.
I will test deposit and card load and see how long it takes in total now.

First first time I made a small deposit to buy the card. This went smoothly.

Then I made a bigger deposit and it did not show up the balance stays
the same.

I opened up a support ticket in their ticket system and I am waiting since December 28th without getting a response.

Try to contact with them on skype as they reply very quickly and solve your problem in few minutes because emails may be not working as quick as they need to do

Seems, that Uquid gave up its own card, that was not connected with Visa/Mastercard and they have a maximum load/cashout of 150$/€/£ without ID.

Just a headsup regarding this scam site.

I have registered on Uquid and made a deposit of 0.09ETH on 30/12/2017. ETH price between 30/12/2017 and 2/01/2018 has never dipped below 670USD between those 2 dates. It actually varied between 700USD and 797USD according to coindesk.

Check this out. The deposit estimate on their WON website said that 0.09ETH should be around 66USD, which was fine and according to the price ETH was hovering around at that time.

Deposit via crypto, which was supposed to be "realtime", finally got "completed" on January 2nd 2018. Ok fine ,it was New Year, maybe their personnel had a day off or they were short-staffed. But when it finally got completed I was credited with an amazing 43USD... LOL. SO the ETH price they used for my deposit was a magnificent 477USD, a jaw dropping 36% lower price than what the actual price was on Dec 30 and a whopping 40% lower price than ETH was on January 2nd when the "realtime" deposit was completed.

So if I had opted to deposit 1000USD in ETH I would have actually gotten an amazing 600USD for my ETH deposit.

Of course ,support has no answer on my ticket after 5 days since I have opened it. Below are screenshots from my "deposit" transaction and my (oneway) conversation with their "support". Support "should be contacting users 24hours at the latest after the incident has been opened", in case anyone wonders LMAO.

Maybe in a few weeks we have a new option:

Greetings all,

The vision for TokenCard has always been to marry the power of the Ethereum network with the global reach of the payments networks. This coupling unleashes onto the world a product of unparalleled financial access and control: from the (newly?) wealthy to those looking to regain control of their own finances, and by extent lives, the TokenCard is the epitome, the holy grail, of payment platforms.

This vision has always been a global one. To that end we have been on the lookout for an issuer that can provide us with the flexibility we need to complete this vision. In 2015, at the time of us first engaging our original issuing partner, WaveCrest, they had been able to help us fulfil this goal: through passive issuance we would be able to send cards to a near global market.

Over time WaveCrest’s situation evolved causing them to lose their ability to do global passive issuance; cards would only be sent within the EU. This however wouldn’t suffice for us, and we expedited our plans to work with larger and more sophisticated issuers with global reach.

Now, WaveCrest has been forced to indefinitely suspended all card activities, spelling the end of an era for them.

Today, with great excitement, we want to announce that we’ve been working in stealth on a new partnership with a prominent and large issuer. With our new partner we will have the ability to deploy cards globally. YES, that includes the US. China however is out with this one (but worry not 😉).

Alas, we had not intended to reveal our strategic launch plans this soon. We had wanted to announce the global rollout of TokenCard on the day we actually would be able to start shipping en masse.. for effect.

In short, the negatives:

Before we can launch we will need to complete API integration with the new issuer
A significant amount of time has been put into WaveCrest
Potential for panicky community
Positives:

API integration will be quicker thanks to lessons learnt and back end already being completely in place
Issuers are somewhat drag-and-droppable, little modification to the entire codebase is needed to get
The entire early mover advantage any competition had (Xapo, Wirex, Tenx) has been wiped away as their cards stopped working this morning. It has become a complete green field market, the clock has been reset and things are going to get juicy. The market is ours for the taking
WaveCrest is a large single point of failure since the bulk of crypto projects are with them. Moving away from this concentration decrease our risks accordingly. Additional issuers might be put in place in paralel.
We will be able to ship cards globally! This includes major markets such as the US and South Korea.
More sophisticated fulfilment and card material options.
NFC, contactless! Will be available from day 1! This is a big deal here in the UK, but also in Korea, Canada and Australia.
We are working fast to seize the moment. Stay tuned.

More details on country restrictions will follow.

To the team at WaveCrest I want to thank them for all their work. The team there is filled with stars who have simply found themselves in an unfortunate situation. Our engagement with WaveCrest stretches far back and our card product only just missed public deployment with them. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed working with their excellent team.

We wish you guys all the best. Truly.

Best,

Mel Gelderman and the Token team.

TL;DR The Token team was well prepared and has in stealth been working on a much larger partnership to bring the TokenCard to a global audience.

It took about 18 business days for me to get my UQUID card, I havent had any problems with it since the day I received it (other than having trouble finding my pin, it was in my junk inbox).

From my personal experience, I wouldn't say that UQUID is a scam since they were operating perfectly up to July of 2017 when Visa changed their policy.
Between July up to late December they have been working on integrating their new card issuing company into their system so that everything works the way it used to.
I don't know how large UQUID's dev team is but I can say it was a long 5 month wait. I purchased my card on Dec 5th 2017 and I activated my card on Dec 23th.
It is possible that they have put you in queue to prep and ship out your card. Keep in mind, they had to send a card to everyone that previously had one before their service went down back in July (that is including myself).

I have to admit, their rates are shitty but just recently 5 companies (Bitwala, Cryptopay, Wirex, ShakePay and TenX) went down because of Visa's policy change.
UQUID is the only one left standing right now that's providing service to countries that are also outside of EU.
I would have to give them some credit for switching to another card issuing company before the shit hit the fan.
I'm not saying UQUID is perfect, but to me it's better than having nothing.

So ..I am still waiting for my card...
If they meet some problems I cannot understand why they don't just send an e mail saying "You will have to wait 2 months but you will get it"
there is no support : only the same automatic mail" you will have a response In 24 hours.
But the 24hours is now "no response since one month and 4days
I sent them my btc address to refund my money back if they cannot send me the card but nos response...It is not realy serious

Uquid hmmmmm

They are still there no sign of a physical debit card yet though there is a notice on Uquid site to join there telegram group for updates which is not useful really why they cant just post updates on the Uquid.com website......

Got me a Uquid account late 2017 did a test deposit bought physical card even received physical card (mastercard) but as it was in the post something happened at Mastercard HQ (prob visa to) and wallop never got a pin and was unable to activate the card. Uquid ever since have promised new cards but we are now approaching 6 mnths down the road of that event. Shame Uquid has promise but Visa n mastercard have slammed the door shut by looks of it same old protectionism not sure whether to like or hate that tbh.

BTW Uquid support are very responsive currently talking to them about new card status and possible refunds......

Anybody been on there telegram channel have any updates?

Does anybody have any news from the Uquid telegram channel on any new physical cards?

Seems they don’t like competitors! People was asking for alternatives on their telegram group and I told them: Monaco cards (reserve), Paycent or Spectrocoin (both working and worldwide delivery). They banned me from that group and marked my messages as “spam” so I am posting here the another cards options.
I had 4 uquid cards and all cancelled since October last year. No refunds! Also my money on such cards disappeared. I’m glad that I had about 10 euros left in each or so.
I don’t care to pay about 3.000 usd to reserve a Monaco card with airport lounge access.
