Hi all,

1 month before segwit I sold my BTC for ethereums and was sure that it will grows as fast as btc. It was not smart decision I know.

But now I see that it is ±300$ all the time when bitcoin is close to 4300$... I regret that didn't sold my eth for btc once segwit happened...

But I hope that 4300$ is not maximum of bitcoin price in this year so I am planning to sell my ethereums. But I don't know when to do that. I feel bitcoin correction in near time so maybe it is better to wait a bit? But I am not sure about eth price in near time.

What to do?  :-[

No way we can tell what should you do because market is not predictable. If we know what will happened then no way we can asked this kind of question. The moment you sold your bitcoins to ETH means you accept all the risks associated to that.

Back before solding your bitcoins to ETH, what things you have in your mind? What analyzation you made? What you think will happen? Now put that thinking on vice versa since you able to do it on first and goes now for the final decision.

No matter what happens, never sell for loss. Wait for ETH to go back up before deciding to sell it. Yeah, you missed the train for BTC. Do not do the same mistake with ETH. Once the price of BTC slows down, the price of ETH will recover and go back up. Then you can sell your ETH and convert it to BTC. That way you will still make profit even though it will take longer time.

The current ET price is declining, and it is good idea to keep the ETH and hold it until the ETH price goes up again. I think it's good time to buy ETH as long-term investment. And maybe at the end of this year the price of ETH will increase again.

I'm sure that there'll be some points to sell ETH or the pumps for ETH to occur, now is just temporary price decline for alts because the price of bitcoin significantly increasing and it's really a normal thing.
When the price of bitcoin comes to stable, I'm pretty sure that all the altcoins especially which use ETH smart contract will soon all green.

But the thing is along with waiting for a better price to sell ETH, BTC might reach $5k. Profit wouldn't be that sound with ETH then. I would suggest when ETH is $300+ and Bitcoin fall a bit. Jump to BTC. Bitcoin price is increasing at good rate and chances of a big drop is rare whereas ETH is fluctuating over that $300 mark from quite a long time. Your all loss would be covered with Bitcoin.

when sell ETH for BTC ?
just sell it when you get a profit from it,
for example you bought it at 0.06,and where is the right time to sell it ? 0.061 or around that place.
you will lose it only if you sell it lower than your order,
don't fear because of rising in the Bitcoin price,no matter what as long as Bitcoin still exist,altcoin will also exist.
and you just need a more time from before to get profit from it,there will be one day ETH will get pumped again like other coin.

or if you don't have any financial back up,then sell it right now.
because Bitcoin will rally in the coming days until next month approximately

It is not yet maximum of bitcoins for me it may go more higher this november to december but for you wait to catch up because if you sell you ETH now in a low price then buy on bitcoins on its current price it was a lose to lose decision again .Wait for the EtH to rise then sell and wait for bitcoins to have a sudden dump then buy.

I think next 5 years is the best time to sell our eth and btc. I know that time the price is really high.

If I have ETH in my wallet, I would sell it when its price going up. The price of ETH is more slowly increasing than BTC. Much better to sell if both BTC and ETH would reach a higher price to double the value of bitcoin. But, if you really needed money, you would sell it no doubt.  

Bitcoin is a better investment and Bitcoin got a better future, eth price so slowly growing but not as fast as bitcoin, I think now is still a good time to get more Bitcoin, the Bitcoin price still going up and unstoppable, and eth price is still stagnant in between 300$ so switching to Bitcoin now is a good idea

just sell it when you get a profit from it,
for example you bought it at 1 btc,and where is the right time to sell it ?1.01 or around that place.
you will lose it only if you sell it lower than your order,
don't fear because of rising in the Bitcoin price,no matter what as long as Bitcoin still exist,altcoin will also exist.
and you just need a more time from before to get profit from it,there will be one day ETH will get pumped again like other coin.

Yeah both are good digital coins to invest. You itself said that eth of growing and bitcoin is growing faster. Therefore, exchange the Ethereum to bitcoin to get more profit as price changes. Please check your desired coin to move ahead.

it is impossible to tell you what to do at this point but i am just going to point out your mistake i hope you don't mind.

your first mistake was buying an altcoin in its bubble near the top of the bubble.
your second mistake was holding it, although its price was falling hard against bitcoin (nearly 0.1BTC fell down to 0.06BTC) and you have nearly lost half of your investment depending on the price you bought at.

what you should do is that first never buy an altcoin in its bubble. and second is to dump it if you reached your stop loss limit (you should have a stop loss too).

right now it is once more hard to predict bitcoin. it can go up to $5500 and then have its correction. or it can stop here and have its correction now. and each of these means a different thing for you.
in first case if you sell now you will save yourself a lot of loss.
in second case if you sell now you will lose on your removing losses because eth will probably recover a bit if bitcoin stops rising.

I choosed to sell ETH couple weeks ago when it was 32x and it is in BTC now.
I didnt expected to be this way but that is trading,.... destiny and luck are probably no. 1  ;D

Short time profit transfers your ETH to BTC because the Bitcoin price is growing so fast we are not sure how much it is going to increase until end of this month. So when the price comes down under $4k you can convert and hold your BTC. for long term investment keep it in ETH this also gives you good profit.

ETH is a good investment as well, you do not have to sell it. You can wait it out and it will give you a good profit as well. It is not good time to sell any altcoins right now because they are still down. They recovered a bit when bitcoin price went down below 4000 but btc is recovering back.

Sell your btc and eth before the year ends. I know this year bitcoin will reach $5000. I think the best thing to do is to wait that time before you sell your bitcoin and ethereum.

I suggest you to sell your eth and buy bitcoin to minimalize your loss. For me eth still falling down, again and again, so the best action you need to do only convert become bitcoin. I think if you are profit you chance because you made a profit on your investment. But if you are in loss better hold until the market settles because ETH price will increase once Bitcoin price consolidate.

Ethereum is not looking very healthy now. And there are rumors going around that some of the ETH devs are dumping their coins. If I was in your place, then I would dump at least 75% of my ETH, and move to Bitcoin.

you should think first decision that you will take because of the eth price trend that is in a bad position now, if you get a lot of losses when selling now why not last time waiting for the flow of the pump (do not know when it come) wait for the price to be better than now. This wasn't the correct decision at all. BTC has proved several times that it is the king of crypto and a far better investment than any other altcoins. I think the best approach for you right now should try and find a sweet spot when you are profiting or at least making even by selling your ETH. I would advise you to do this within this month as BTC price are skyrocketing and can reach $5000 was the end of August.

This is the right advice, it seems the OP completely missed the timing right now the only thing he can do is if he wants to avoid losses is to hold and wait for a price correction in bitcoin and hope ETH goes up at the same time, if he held bitcoin instead this will be the perfect time to buy some cheap altcoins with good potential and hold for a year.

I'm agree with you because we can't never predict what tomorrow comes so I believe you sell your eth to btc if it is necessary. Selling your eth anytime in case of emergency but it is good if you wait for the higher price so that you can acquired a lot of money.  Just saying.

I think its better if you hold your ethereum coin because this coin for sure will increase in the future. You need a lot of patience and for sure if you have that , you can earn a lot of profit in the future. I suggest to you buy more ethereum because this coin for sure reach before end of this year at 1000 dollars so if you buy today possible your money become times 3 . But its your choice if you buy or sell your ether.

Since you have exchanged your bitcoin to ethereum already, I would suggest for you to hold your ethereum for a couple more years that is if you don't need that money. Because tendency that most people are doing is, they thought this certain coin will pump because bitcoin price dump or whatsoever and once they got that profit they will then convert it back to bitcoin and fiat to withdraw their money. Just hold on to them and it will in time increase back.

I sold my etherium and bought bitcoins for that money 2 weeks ago, if i was you i would sell them right now and buy bitcoins once it's price falls down a little bit, as i am pretty sure that bitcoin price will only rise in future while eth will drop.

If you don't stop thinking like that you will be regretting it again.
Then you will think there will be another correction and you will just repeat what you have done. There will be no end to that until you step up and take the risk.

I would prefer Selling it it when it's higher and BTC not that much so you get more money from that.

Just hold ur decision when u buy ethereum last last week ago i think u cried now.. I give u advice hold ur losses from eth do not sell until reach the 500-800$ price of eth. And you need to understand that $300 is not maximum for Ethereum either. If someone ask me at the moment to bid between btc and eth, I will surely bid on latter one. Ethereum has become pilgrimage for icos as a result of which it is always on hit-list of investors. Suppose Bill Gates decided to back some cryptocurrency project but to invest in tokens he needs eth. If he buys eth, rest would be history!! :D

I dont suggest sell eth coin now.if i were you i hold eth for two to three years.For selling btc you can wait untill it touched $5000.And i think as soon as posible ether will follow the trend of btc riding.

Both, BTC and ETH, are growing for years, so I keep both cryptocurrencies on longterm.

Both ethereum and bitcoin is a good investment and for sure if you have tha you can earn a lot of profit in the future or maybe before end of this year. So its better if you hold your ethereum and for sure the price will become 1000 dollars before end of this year and possible price of bitcoin will become 5000 dollars so you can buy more bitcoin if you want to make a lot of profit.

A price of 500 for each Ethereum seems to me on the high side especially since almost all the attention of the traders is in bitcoin and the bitcoin cash altcoin, so I think that to see that price you are going to have to hold until the end of next year and maybe you will need to hold for longer periods of time since I do not see how this rise in the price of altcoins can be maintained.

In my opinion, after event HardFork of Ethereum in next time change system PoW to PoS, the price of Ethereum will increasing and not cheap like now. We also see in past days have some rumor about this event, so in today the price of it has pumped to high than 0.08x BTC after falldown.

Yes, I think ETH and BTC have a strong potential to reach that price by the end of this year, and it seems that if this happens it certainly has a good impact on the economy of bitcoin users.

It seems that btc price has not reached its peak yet, so there is no harm to you to sell eth and buy btc and the right time for you is when eth price is at peak, and buy btc when btc is low. Try to find that moment.

I do not think we are going to see that much action in Ethereum when in fact there is nothing at the moment that can make the price go up 3 times it is current price, all the focus is on bitcoin, bitcoin cash and if the hard fork that will create segwit2x comes to happen then that coin will get a lot of attention as well, Ethereum has not a chance to reach that price at the moment.

Don't sell your ethereum and just buy bitcoin with your extra money because that is the best option for me. Both coins are good for long term so there is no need for choosing just one and you need to get them both so you can have a chance to make more money rather than sticking with just one investment that can possibly lead to a loss. Diversify your money to decrease the risk.

You are completely on safe side of trade. People have invested all their BTC to coins which were useless and they have lost their money. In your case you have chosen ethereum which was god choice and a very good pair with bitcoin. You just have to wait for longer times if you want to achieve ROI as well as more profits. Because price of bitcoin before segwit was way lot which means if you convert your ether to btc now then you will loose a lot of money.


You only left with one option that is to wait and watch the price of bitcoin go down. This will happen for sure in coming months which is due to its volatile nature as well as one more fork is coming soon. Let's hope we all get one more chance in the future.

if you are not in need of your money just keep it inside your hard wallet and forget about your investment for maybe some years and enjoy your life after and if you still got some spare money you can keep buying both coins future will be nice to those who believes.

Best advice so far :D If you just don’t need money at a time or we can say you have spare money just buy bitcoins and don’t see them for a year or more. Just keep enjoying with the money you have. Bitcoins are going up and up and you will be just a millionaire I believe after a couple of years. Think and buy :D

Long-term retention of any crypto currency always brings a good profit. I do not take into account the small alternative coins. Buy those that are in the top ten by capitalization and forget about them for several years. Then you will be surprised at how much they have risen in price

Bitcoin can easily reach that price even this end of the year because if the lightning network of bitcoin will be activated the transactions will be faster than now and it will attract more people to use bitcoin because that lightning network will make bitcoin stronger and sooner or later we can see that bitcoin is having another price rally up to $8,000 or more.

its prob not wise to switch out buy after a rise, and this applies to any cryptocurrency. it somewhat like a queueing dilemma, where you leave a slow queue to jump to the faster moving queue. just focus on the fundamentals and eth is great in that aspect.

That's everyone do, buy at low and sell when the price is high. But, the main problem is you don't know when the highest price reached or when the best time to sell your currency because their fluctuation habit and you may lose the opportunity if you do wrong action.

The right time to sell our bitcoin is in next 7 years from now. The bitcoin proving that it is gaining more power than before. I can say that in the next 7 years the value of the bitcoin will be 7x the value of the bitcoin today. It is really good if we hold our bitcoin and ETH.

Pump and dump were always happening. The only good thing now. That when it pumps big, it didn't dp that much . When it decrease usually it will hyoe again in a week after. It increases everytime it pumps and this makes holding btc more appropriate while ETH for me is still for investing.

Why did you sell your ETH for BTC? ETH is about to pump in the next few weeks. I guess its from the ETH price 0.077BTC to 0.2BTC thats more than 2X. Then sell from the TOP. Now you have 2X more BTC.

It will not stop at $ 4300 but no someone is sure it will not decrease.  I advise you to wait for the BTC to ETH to  high and sell  to minimize damage, the decision is made by you!

It's good to sell when the price of btc seems to be down while the ethereum was found on the pumping side. This gives a bigger volume of btc through the trading, which lets the user get an increased profiting as the price fluctuation is found high with periodic growth happening on time intervals.

When eth price above 0.1 btc, maybe it's the right time to sell it. For now, eth price is still low. I also think that eth prices still have a good chance of going up, so it's a good time to sell them when the price goes above that price.

I did not think so he did anything wrong. Eth is nothing as compared to bitcoins and selling them off for bitcoins is quite smart move. Even if the eth pumps in coming weeks, it will still be less in worth than bitcoins. It is never bad or regretful to invest into bitcoins especially with these altcoins.

Ethereum has a good feature and that is the smart contracts and because of that there is no escape for using ethereum as a fee and one of the primary coin to invest to different ICOs so i think ethereum is designed perfectly for our world while bitcoin only focus on payment system and i believe that these two can work together to come up with the best cryptocurrency for our world.

Many people always panic to sell their bitcoins like you. You should not panic if the price of the bitcoin goes down. That is normal when we see that the price of the bitcoin sometimes is going down. I prefer to you to just hold your coins and sell it in the right time.

I still believed in Ethereum and I see that they are doing everything to really push and hype the coin. For me its still undervalued so for me its better to really hold and not sell your Ethereum for long term. I think ethereum can make bigger change in % than bitcoin. Bitcoin keeps growing but I think ETH will be with him and maybe surpass him. Stay on eth for now.

We can not know the future, but today we see the price of BTC and ETH is gained, when investors began to massively buy them. Perhaps the price of BTC and the ETH will not stop and continued to grow, I hope so!

Right now is the best time to sell your bitcoins. The price of bitcoin today is now $4,600 per each. Having one bitcoin is really good to sell today. It seems that the bitcoin is now powerful than before.

At $500, it's a sell point for ether. Or you can consider 0.15 btc is a good price to sell ether, this is in term of ETH/BTC pair. If you think long term, $1,000 could be an exit point for ether to take profit.

If you can wait until 2020, ether can reach $2,000 as the market experts tell us so.

It is true bitcoin prices are currently heading for a good trend and maybe it's time to sell bitcoin because maybe tomorrow can go down after a good increase, usually after bitcoin prices rise high enough it will go down a bit and then go up again. so the choice is in everyone

Don’t sell ETH for bitcoin. I second your statement that even if you are talking about bitcoins or any other then you will be having loss definitely. Don’t sell anything now and as far as ETH for bitcoin is concerned, not a god option at a moment. You can buy more ETH now and later when prices of ETH get high then you can sell against bitcoin.

i think this time is the good time to buy eth before the price is increase back to the price before. and if you have eth, you can hold it and wait for the high price. i am not planning to sell eth if the price is not more than 0.1xxxx per 1 eth because my feeling tells that eth price will reach so high and this is why until now i am sell and only hold my eth.

That's right, selling Ethereum for Bitcoin at now just for trader fearing of missing out on market, they do not understand the scenario of whales in recent. I bilieve when we are feeling tired, boring and sell all our altcoin to bitcoin, the price of altcoin will increase on market and dump Bitcoin :)

If I were you, I will hold those precious ETH. BTC is now stabilizing and it's a good indication that altcoins are going to recover after a few weeks of red tides.

Well rumors are always there and you cannot be sure about what will happen in the future. But, talking about present, BTC is much more worthy and is profitable as compared to ETH. Buying BTC by giving away ETH will never prove to be a wrong decision.

You are just looking for short term gains in bitcoin and that is not the right mindset you should have, you need to always look for the possible outcome of long term holding or investing and it is best to diversify money rather than sticking to one investment that can give you huge loss in the future. If you have ethereum and bitcoin then that is good but if you have more strong and stable crypto investment then that is the best.

Because of its price volatility, the price of bitcoin will go up high even more as the time goes by, so, investing on bitcoin is a really good idea that anyone could make, if you have enough money to invest on bitcoin, then don't hesitate to do it. Everyone has got its own point of view. But, what I see is very much bright future of the ones investing in BTC as compared to ETH. The reason being market price as well as popularity of BTC is far more than ETH. Also, there is a huge amount of investors investing in BTC compared to ethereum.

It depends, when i used to trade i just only wanted btc, and i traded only for make profit in btc.. it depends in what do you want and what do you expect from that trade.
If you buy a ethereum with bitcoin, it will cost you 0.085 at the moment, you can sell it at 0.086 to make a little profit. This is how i used to do because i only wanted to make profit in btc.

Bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency to invest because not like in the other altcoins in the market, bitcoin is more like a sure investment because it has a huge community and it is one of the most moving up price in altcoins. So if you want something that is really sure then invest on the longest and strongest cryptocurrency in the market and that is bitcoin ;D.

What i do is just convert i in MyEtherWallet. or just go to any exchange site then trade it there.

I agree that bitcoin is the best coin to really invest however, I think it would be better if you know how to diversify and have at least one good solid altcoin like ETH. Because it has really doing good like bitcoin and it also volatile as well. I don't have ETH though, because I have sold them long time ago and I usually don't trade, I just hold on my bitcoin.


Actually it went as far as $400 if I'm not mistaken, but as soon as bitcoin plummeted, ETH goes with it as well. I can speculate that it will reach $500, though I believe it can reach $400 again. $500 is too much for me and it looks like ETH will be stretch if you get $500 anytime soon.

I have saved ethereum for now and hold it for a long term investment. Actually both can do good and can earn huge profit for a long term. I would'nt sell my eth for btc it will go up for sure and also there are still many supporters in eth.

The price of the bitcoin is still increasing. I holding my bitcoins because I know the value of it will still rise up. I planned to sell my bitcoins 10 years from now because I am sure that I will get big amount of profits by that year.

Well i have three ethereum right now and i am waiting it to reach $500 each price as soon as possible, if it doesnt touch that price at the end of the year then i would sell them at $425 or $450 maybe.. It is a good point to learn and to always keep in mind that whatever the scenario or the price dump of Bitcoin price is you should always based your transaction on your target price or the value where you actually have bitcoin so you would rather earn on it. Selling is always an option for now for your eth due to price has been doing fluctuating scenario. That's why you really need to hold the funds you have, which is your eth balances so that you can grap the opportunity of taking the profit when price rise higher that it's current price. If you do not have a target price, then it seems you do not know when. Of course your target Selling price is above the price when you bought it or sell it for a profit.

I think you don’t have to sell ETH for BTC. Reason is the markets of both coins. Both ofcoins have some good repute and they are top two coins recently. To me It is a little not clear on the information which spread, that the etherium already give still the same plug as Bitcoin. Although Bitcoin in November is about to be another bifurcation. It seems to me that today the crypto currency is a little stormy and it's unclear what to expect in the near future.

I would suggest selling ETH before its price goes too down that you may bear a huge loss for it. And buy BTCs as much as you can when their prices are low so that you can be on safer side. From what I can see, the exchange rates for Ethereum has come down from BTC0.145 to just around BTC0.0696 in a matter of few months. In general, the trend is downward. Even now, I have a feeling that Ethereum is overpriced. When you compare Bitcoin's user base and the number of places accepting it as a currency with that of ETH, you can notice the huge gap between the two currencies. But no such gap exists between the market cap of these two coins.

Eth is already going through some hard time and people are dumping their coins damn fast. There is no guarantee that even eth will be existing after two or three years. No need to waste time on this shitty coin. Just make sure you are investing wisely into bitcoin and your wallet is never empty.

You are very much right. There is no point of selling ETH right now when the prices are very much low. But I think you can’t hold ETH for quite long, it will give you nothing but a small amount of profit only. You should sell it as early as possible but obviously when the prices are little higher than they are now.

I am still waiting for bitcoin price stable, when bitcoin prices were stable at a high rate, and ETH will follow it, at least I could sell ETH when the prices back touching above 0.1BTC. at least it could be achieved in this year-end, let's wait and see :)

 

Yes, and in trading you must have a target price to sell. And this target price is of course, you have a profit. Just observe the market movement and some updates on the development of the project so that you might have idea when to hold and when to sell.

For me if you see a good profit at  the current value of eth much better to sell it because for now fluctuation of value in block market is very active. Our goal in trading is to earn profit that is why when you see profit do not think twice to sell your hold coins.

What I always do anyway is to put my bitcoin to work and pay my self at the end of every month a certain % of it and add the remaining to the initial ones to start working again. Nevertheless, the good thing about crypto market is that if you are not rushing, you can still try to hold for long. Market will bounce back, and you can sell for profit again. So as I am saying, if that money isn't really intended or needed, then why hurry in such a way you should gamble your own investment? ETH is at second number after bitcoins in international market. So like you said, one must observe the comparison of both coins. If you find both at same level currently, then shift to bitcoin they will yield more. But yes majority times, ETH is high and BTC is low so sell ETH and join this amazing coin.

I think this all depends on what you have in your mind and what you are planning to do. If you are planning for short term investment, then it is better to keep ETH and make a good earning from ETH. Yes all the co-relation of BTC and alts has amazed me and specially the ETH and bitcoin. I have noticed that whenever there is a dump to the price of bitcoin the same will happen to the price of ETH and when the bitcoin price accelerates so do the ETH. There hardly be a time when Bitcoin and ETH prices move in an opposite direction. There may be any rare example of the prices going in opposite directions. 

I will sell my ethereums when the price touches $600 each one, or 0.15 in BTC, those are the most fair rates in which i would sell my eth, so i am looking to sell them at that rate in order to use that money to invest in other altcoins below $1, i really believe in that it will touch that price before 2018, anyway, if there is a problem with it, i will continue holding it, i dont have too much money invested in eth

Right now both has been providing with an increased profiting, which one cannot find in other assets, because with ETH and btc the growth continues even after price fluctuation. This is the most effective strategy of working and earning massive profits with bitcoins, this is the only reason why I refer dumps as blessings because at that time you can buy as much bitcoins as you can without paying too much. Selling them off at high prices during pumps earn you unbelievable money.

According to me these both coins are for two different types of trader. So you should think twice before selling bitcoin for eth.

Selling ethereum coin to buy bitcoin is a bright idea, since value of bitcoin now in the market is falling down. Therefore I believe that when hardfork happens this coming November crypto currency value were declining. We all know that this is the perfect time to buy more stocks of bitcoin because after segwit bitcoin price is rapidly raised up.

I have purchased alot of ETH when the prices of Bitcoin were very high like 5.7k during this time. And I am going to buy ETH every week now with the payment I'll get . Now I feel like within a year or something and then I'll be owning alot of money. And basically when ETH will cross around 5k USD I'll convert it .

From my point of view it would depend upon the market condition when to buy it or sell it because these coins are very volatile now a days their price may raise up certainly and then decrease rapidly so if you see the today's market condition it would be better to sell them or retain them for future on invest them into anything to get profit when market condition is low it is beneficial to buy them and retain them.

I still remember those days when about 8 ethereums were equal to one bitcoin price.. All the altcoins in bitcoin price are dropping a lot , i dont know why they are not following their path as well.

there is no guarantee that bitcoin and ethereum are moving in the same direction of the price, it is proved that when there is a dump in bitcoin, all altcoin falls down and the ethereum value has touched below $200. But as bitcoins rise and head for new ATH, ethereum remains steady at $300. This means there remains a certain restriction on altcoin to follow the movement of bitcoin prices. And now is not a good time to sell ethereum for bitcoin.

Holy crap, how about now? Can you travel back in time and have never bought that horrid coin to begin with. It might take a huge investment to create and use time travel, but would it not be worth it to never have the stigma of ETH on your profile? I think I'll always collect Bitcoin and Ethereum as much as possible. If it's a matter of when to sell, I'll sell it when the price has gone up drastically and high.
