I am invested in over 100 alts but I believe these have the best chances of real success .... I am looking though for others to add since I am sure there are many that have escaped my attention.

I really want projects that have fully functioning or near on fully functioning software not white paper promises and dreams.

Let's together (not just one person me) help locate and identify the real projects with proven functioning designs/software with use cases and great promise. It is a hard task to navigate the ann section now and identify anything remotely useful. It is pages of copy and past developments with unproven scamming dev teams and the skillful marketeers of dreamy fantasy white papers.

You don't like the poll options?? that's fine have your say. Introduce your project but make sure it meets the criteria. This poll is to identify the real proven projects not essentially put your project down nor pump any single project or group of projects. If a project meets the criteria it can be added. Of course some discussion and analysis of each and every project including those in the OP can be had.

Every comment is welcome and we should digest and analyse all information to make the best decisions for our investments. I am invested in those I have initially said i feel are the best opportunities here. Of course I would be why would i not invest in the ones I have put there. However I am not against changing to better opportunities could they be presented here. It would be crazy not to invest in things are proven or even likely to be better investments.

It has become apparent to me that most of the recent icos are run by marketeers with little or no crypto skillset. What they are promising will possibly never exist and the dev funding will be used with nothing to show. Of course there will be exceptions but this thread is not to find a needle in a haystack this thread is to provide noobs and indeed anyone with information regarding real proven projects.

ICOS ARE OKAY IF THEY WERE WELL ADVERTISED AND OPEN ENDED. CAPPED ICOS ARE SCAMS UNLESS THEY WERE OPEN FOR A PERIOD LONG ENOUGH FOR PERSONS TO HAVE A REAL CHANCE AT DISCOVERING AND HAD FAIR OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST.


If you are a supporter of any REAL projects as defined by the criteria in the OP it is your projects interest to keep discussion going in this thread to draw attention away from most of the fake projects around here and assist people finding the real projects that actually do give them some tangible value for their investment.

This is exaclty what I mean about this place.

You put a thread saying which is the next big alt you get reams of pages of replies spamming dirt.

You ask for a validation and put some reasonable criteria and you get very few replies.

There are NO other good (outside of the top 10) projects that meet the criteria we have in the OP??

Surely some people believe otherwise else how are all these projects even listed on CMC in their current cap levels?

It says pick up to five but there are only six options.  I guess for some this might mean 'which one do you like the least?'.

Anyways, why is the list so short?  Are you only trying to compare these coins?  There are lots and lots of other projects out there which compete with these coins directly or indirectly.

It is a collation of ALL projects that meet the criteria listed. These are the ones I am initially aware of.

If you can suggest another and explain why it meets the criteria it will be listed.

That ain't right at all. I know there are more real projects with real use cases but it is hard to categorize them one by one. If I were to categorize one base on your criteria, I think waves fits it. First of all, waves have a proven development team that is continuing to release new updates and it's software is already functional. It seeks to provide decentralized place for crowd funding(ICO) and trading via tokenization and is somehow can function like ETH but does not run a smart contract. It is also not in the top 10 coins based on marketcap and is not a scam. It has been in the market for at least a year already.

I think waves and raiden network could be the next BIG thing (expecially raiden network).... Waves Team is strong and is working hard....hope to see them rise in december- january.

I would like to know though why someone would use waves exchange over an atomic exchange where the coins stay on your own machine?

When you spell it out like that holy effing shit my bags now look like trash to me but maybe this is good you enlightened me :D. However I will try and add to that list because in my eyes two projects fulfill those requirements (one may be lacking on one but I will get to that). Those projects I speak of are TenX (PAY) and Bitcore (BTX) let's go through the points shall we.

TenX

1. The product is fully functional with users currently in EU. They are working on getting cards worldwide I ordered mine a month ago and expect it Q1 2018.
2. Use case is that you can spend cryptos anywhere anytime but they are working to make that offline (COMIT) and for you to be able to spend fiat as well (banking license incoming next year)
3. Not top 10 they are currently 37th
4. Not a scam because they raised 83m in the ICO and could have ran away after the fact. Also they won extensive amount of awards prior to running the ICO and came into the ICO with a working product!
5. Their commitment is completely long term nothing they are trying to do is for a quick pump n dump. Julian even states this clearly with all the weekly Q n As they do.

Another thing is that their communication and transparency is 100% on point and as an investor I like knowing what exactly is happening with my money. Also they are not afraid to admit shortcomings which to me signals maturity and proper class. Bitcore

1. The product is far superior to any chain of Bitcoin at the moment. Has big block sizes, segwit activated and bloom and can transact 48-49m tx a day iirc. Top notch in regards to speed
2. Use case I admit other than speculation there isn't much here at the moment although that doesn't mean it isn't a good opportunity because the specs are quite unreal.
3. Not top 10 they are 138th ATM but once they fix circulating supply on CMC to 10 million it will vault all the way to top 30th and this exposure should give it a leg up I feel like.
4. Not a scam as these are the same devs who are running BitSend they could have cashed out tons of times already.
5. Commitment here is also long term but they do listen to the community and have amended their airdrop rules a few times now to help the coin and community grow. It has worked well thusly!

All in all Bitcore might be a big lacking on #2 and kind of #1 but I think enough is there to make this coin go up much further than where it is now. I take it you are looking for quality coins only and out of all my bags these are basically the best two at the moment and I feel like in 2018 they will do pretty good things. The choice is yours young padawan!

Ten X seems to meet the criteria - was it an open ended ICO? because capped icos are scams to me that provide easy opportunity for essentially huge instamines. All capped icos are scams especially those that sell in 5 seconds to insider whales and dev pals. The exception is perhaps one that lasted a long time and gave good opportunity to all. I know it was advertised hard which is a very good thing.

I am not saying tenx was an insta ico i am just asking. Other than that then yes i like the use case and glad it is functional already and not just dreams and talk nonsense like most icos.

Bitcore - yes 2 is perhaps a little weak in that it does not present new use cases that are not covered...(but then pivx could be accused of this)
However how was it distributed? pow or  airdrop or how.

Initial distribution is the most important part of something not being a scam.

Icos are okay but not insta capped icos that sell out in 5 seconds. They are open to gross manipulation and market collusion.

I will def add  both of these if the distribution was reasonably fair.

ALSO i very much like how you structured your answers. This should be the way all should answer so it is easy for all to see why a coin was added to the list.

it is simply because people are not interested in altcoins because they are good or bad. most don't even care if the altcoin exists in real life, it may very well have no working blockchain as far as they are concerned and they will still invest in it and call it "awesome".
example? BTU= bitcoin unlimited, doesn't exist. volume=$10k daily on average. it does not even exist!

i am no different from others though. i am only interested in money and i have given up on altcoins being good or being "next big thing" a long time ago. but since you asked i choose Byteball.
the development team is decent enough. they haven't given up on the project to go away. they even try for some real adoption with merchants.
the technology (DAG) is pretty interesting and Byteball uses it properly. it even has anonymous transactions.
i don't like the distribution model but it was fair.

I agree with you to a certain extent at most people might not know what altcoins are about. Cuz there is way too many, and most of them are just concepts so nothing substensial to show whats up with the content of their ideas...

Thats why post like this one are really cool to push forward as they are trying to show which project already have more than a concept, but an already early usable version of their products available right now on the market with a potential of truly changing their environements  :o

I agree with some of your points for sure. People just want money (fiat or more btc) however I do think finding REAL undervalue projects that have a REAL usecase and have proven devs with a proven skillset are the best way to make BIG money. Sure jumping from one scheme to another can make a good chunk of cash. However finding REAL projects early and holding will make you a fortune and reward those real dev teams and real communities that are not just for pump and dumps.

Again with byteball i nearly did not add it because I do NOT like the distributional model at all. I can not say it was a scam because it was not really a scam but to me rewarding those that have the most BTC with the most of an ALT coin with NO risk to their BTC is still very unfair but is not a scam to me.

However if he does not run of dump the remaining coins and there is a detailed ledger for how the remaining BB are used to build value into the coin...just the new real tech he has developed deserves a mention at this reasonably low cap.

I hope people will keep adding more real projects here so we can eventually filter peoples focus to worth while projects and stop them getting scammed by pump and dump dreams and talk white papers.

BitShares is the currency
Anything can be used as money under certain circumstances. Gold, silver, giant stones, paper, debts, cigarettes - all this was used as money. From the options in this list my choices are: Byteball, PivX, Waves and GameCredits. Only time will tell if the right choices have been made.

Bitshares I will add for sure although this designer/coder has in the past not had a good track record with initial distribution i think bitshares was not so bad.

Wings again looks good. Please answer for this thread how was the initial distribution conducted was it ico or pow or how was it conducted. Initial distribution is VERY important.

Tierion - seems to pass well with everything... again please explain about the distribution and how it was conducted.


All projects added should have valid explanation of why they are classed as REAL projects. Distribution is KEY.

Im on this forum since the end of march, and ive seen few bits and pieces of why this two projects are remarkable pioneer in their fields but it will be great to have a clear explanation of both in here, to expand community knowledge !

Bitbay -

For those that are used to normal qt wallets like most cryto coins have then go and download the bitbay market place wallet. See the wealth of features and the immediate use case for those. DDE escrow and ebay like decentralised market place is just one tiny use case for this software.

If you think about it we are trying to create an end to end  decentralised trustless arena for commerce and trading of all things. Bitbay and blocknet (when fully functional with the new UI will bring vital missing pieces to complete that puzzle.

Now let me say I know both of these have a few competitors and I am not ruling those out. However I am more familiar with these ones than their competition. I am quite open and very happy to see any real projects added to this poll. I want ALL of the real projects that meet the sensible criteria listed to be added.

Making things fundamental things decentralised and trustless to me is more important than say other services others projects are working on but that does NOT mean they are less important to everyone here so they are free to add their chosen REAL projects that will meet the sensible criteria in the OP.

Bitbay ( i am not saying this is for everyone) but to me personally offers more than any other project on this board period including the top 10 (except perhaps ethereum) for its market cap. To me it is grossly undervalued considering what this developer is capable of. The feature list is all very useful and to some may seem over complex but these new complex spending and pegging options along with multi sig staking and all the new features just keep piling on and opening up to more and more use cases. The next big step will be the api and letting other dev teams build upon the bitbay core.

Blocknet is more of a wildcard because although they have proven working dex they are taking forever to get it all together but i am personally hoping for the best and as a personal thing only will be so pleased when we have decentralised real atomic exchanges so that area of needing trust where we can all be manipulated and scammed is eradicated. If blocknet does not bring it en mass then I will welcome any other project to do it for us. Their new ui does look great and i hope they get their ass into gear on the lite dex as well as the new ui. If this is as usable as i hope it will bring in a new era of trustless exchange .

Although I am invested in this and other similar projects I would welcome any new atomic exchange to take off. Immediate personal gain is of course my main drive like all of us but still i never put enough eggs in one basket to become too myopic and it will be great for any real atomic dex to take off in a big way the same as any real decentralised market place. Making all things decentralised and trustless is the new goal.

Really appreciate this thread and its objective - sort some wheat from so much chaff.  But, cryptohunter, you haven't explained the reasons for your choices.  Particularly interested in why Syscoin?

Well okay I covered bitbay and blocknet - they were my personal reasons for liking those as I posted above.

Now sys although I don't own much of it I still believe it is a real project with a real developer who again is trying to create a trustless decentralised exchange and also many other useful features. That developer again is a proven skilled designer and coder and since i know about the project i thought even though it is kind of competition to bitbay (my fav) that I should list  it anyway because it seems to meet the criteria of a REAL project as per the criteria in the OP.

Komodo - again I don't have very much of this but this again is an atomic trade platform for trustless decentralised trading. So i added it in. JL777 is obviously another great developer too and seemingly a work aholic. So meets the real project criteria. I actually keep looking at their lite version (where you dont require the blockchain to use it) I was told this lite version is different to many other lite versions but since I am not a designer/dev i may not fully appreciate the value of this.

I am not saying which projects are better than others. For me I made it clear the ones i listed myself i have invested in because I believe them to be real projects. However I am actually hoping to benefit from others knowledge here that is far superior to my own to find out about some other Real projects before they hit the big time. If there are some better than I have listed that is great I have now another bit of investing to do in these new ones that become highlighted here.

The aim is for this thread to highlight the real projects here that have been hidden beneath piles of dreams and talk from dev teams with no real devs.

The steem dev made it POW but didn't release a windows miner and did a few other things to make it very tough to mine indeed.
Someone managed to mine a big chunk so steem dev got mad and reversed it and started over because he didnlt like anyone else mining the tokens.

Now that would to me make it a total and utter scam. I thought it was at this point.

However now the dev says he needs to do this for legal reasons (not allowed to premine) and to get all the coins else the idea can't really work out I mean he has to pay the tokens to the posters from somewhere.

So that seems legit ....and i was thinking okay perhaps its not a big scam or not as bad as i thought.

Smooth also told me it is kind of unfair but that there was a full ledger for these tokens. I view smooth as pretty reliable so I finished off moaning about steem and forgot about it.

However someone once told me that steem was quite gameable and those with the vast bulks of the coins the devs and the smart people like smooth who worked out to mine a good amount without going crazy and taking the devs share ...got more power in upvoting and controlling the payouts etc. Now (not saying smooth himself did anything wrong because he seems quite a decent person to me) but others who would have the power to create other steem accounts and make sure those accounts were paid out nicely.... hmm just sounds a bit open to scamming to me. When things are open to scamming I prefer to call them a scam or at least a scheme. We are building trustless decentralised services here. I don't think there should be any point where trust is required. And if trust is never required then scamming is not possible. This is the kind of projects I like to encourage.

Now also this person makes bitshares, but leaves and starts steem, but leaves and makes eos? not saying this isnt allowed but all this jumping from one project to another seems ....hmmm


Now the disclaimer here on steem is.

1. I don't know if  this kind of gaming is not possible really and there are measures in place to prevent it. But i cant see how.
2. Steem seemed a great design and even some well known devs say the coding and design has merit.

This thread if for open analysis not to be just my opinion so i would love some very smart people to explain if steem was wide open to being a money making scheme by devs and the original handful of miners that grabbed all the tokens whilst others were held out on purpose. Or if that is not the case.

If it seems steem is clean then let's shoot it up on the poll. Perhaps it is okay and meets the real project criteria after all. To me the distribution doesnt look good.... but if im proven wrong then fair enough.

Dev Waves and game credit , seeing work the team so real. DEX from waves and token creation so easy. not only that, support from waves dev for new development in created token with waves an very helpful, transparency in devlopher waves is also good. while game credits goes according to what devs says. both of them dev work have a trusted team.

I do believe that Waves in the next big thing, although these days it decreased a bit. Byteball Bytes seem to go on rising slowly. It had a jump, but then it stabilized. Bitcore has shown already its force.

It is kind of worrying that this thread has been going for days and we have no really even managed to break more than 10 real projects from 1000's of them on this entire board that are real out side of the top 10. The top 10 itself it packed with scams and schemes too.

It therefore is very important we keep this thread on the first page of this sub forum because without it there new people are left to scramble through 10000s of non real projects that are essentially just promises or out right junk.

Im back with a new project in the IOT realm of possibilties this time, a freshly finished ICO but already a working RFID product and an actual real buisness plateform in the baby food industry : WABI

Walimai is releasing WaBi tokens on their ICO. WaBi is a product focused around building a safe retail channel to combat the fake products that plague Asia. Blockchain technology is used in combination with RFID tags that guarantees that the product is real. If the seal breaks the blockchain registers that it is a no longer a genuine product.

 

The market for these products is obviously huge, because people are willing to pay a lot for genuine products such as babyfood, and alcohol. This is where the WaBi token comes into play. The WaBi tokens are used as payment for the Walimai protected products. Paying with WaBi grants additional benefits: discounts, improved delivery terms and bonus WaBi points with every purchase. This can all be done by using the Walimai mobile app which is available to the Apple store, Google play, QQ store and Baidu app store. Coins can be obtained by consumers through the purchase of Walimai protected products or by participating in other marketing activities. The problem WaBi Is trying to solve is about the 461 billion USD of imported fake goods that are in circulation globally. In China there have been numerous scandals about fake food products. to give a few examples there are fake eggs, fake alcohol you name it.

  Now lets get to how they want to solve this problem.  

The Walimai label is applied at a designated ‘point of origin’ along the supply chain. This links the product with its digital representation on the blockchain. This will contain the Encrypted unique ID , the Dynamic Code and the Geographical Data after consumers have scanned the item with the Walimai app. This also means that a set of digital objects is stored in the cloud and that data from consumer scans are checked against their digital state. Digital and physical objects are constantly synchronised and products with the Walimai label are sold on a known location. Consumers scan the label with the Walimai app and find all the data in there again, while updating its state.

 

Now this is where it gets more interesting;  

WaBi actually already has a working product and has done trial sales already on JD.com. JD.com, a chinese website with 370million monthly visitors, has even contacted them to ask how they got such a high customer return rate. The moms, that they are targetting to sell verified safe babyfood to, are very happy with WaBi. Wabi is managed by an amazing team, the CEO has worked for McKinsey and the team has years of experience in supply chain management and the infant food industry specifically. This particularly shows when the business model is explained. The biggest problem all companies face when trying to implement anti-counterfeit measures is that raising the expenditure for packaging is not seen as acceptable. changing the supply chain is a horrendous experience which results in most companies to just choose a QR code. However, time after time it has been proven that QR codes can be faked. The Wabi team therefor builds a B2C channel instead of a B2B channel and leverages the great demand for safe products to lure retailers to join the platform.

 

it is also worth mentioning that there are some seriously interesting advisors on their team that have worked with MasterCard, Goldman Sachs and even Alieexpress.  

In the PRE-ICO $300,000 worth of tokens were sold at $0.03 each. WaBi has offered to buy back these tokens at the ICO-price of 0,25 USD. Considering WTC was 0.653 cents during the ico offering i believe Wabi could at least pull a x10.

 

This means that WaBi sold during the PreICO will be either locked up for 3 or 6 months after the ICO (for 5% or 10% bonus respectively, out of founders’ token allocation) or bought back by WaBi Project at 25 USD cent per WaBi after the ICO and before the token is placed on exchanges. This is to prevent a dump from happening upon becoming available on the exchanges.

 

8M tokens will be distributed among the founders, team members and bounties The remaining 35M tokens will be reserved for the mining process such as purchasing Walimai protected products. WaBi starts being traded on exchanges shortly after the ICO and has said to get on exchanges that investors find the most convenient to use. In total WaBi is looking for 11,5M funding - which is considered to be very, very low.

Yes, I agree. I have actually investigated one myself and looking at getting some but a few questions i have asked on thread remain unanswered as yet.

I am still shocked there are not more REAL projects listed here. Perhaps there are several but as yet nobody has suggested them.

I mean are a couple of possibles floating around just outside of the top 10 but they are hardly undiscovered.

I know a few more that are a little hidden, but have been to busy to keep track on them. Will wait and see if others list them here. If not I'll do it after checking status on them when BitBay takes a christmas break.

From your list, I think Waves platform meet all the criteria, one thing I think it is lacking is adoption, like Ethereum, it is not attractive to serious developers to come on it and implement their project, that is why most of the projects on it are fake or scam coins

For me it is Byteball. New technology, no blocks, userfriendly smart contracts, many new applications are being implemented.

I voted for Byteball. Get unblocked, Go mine yourself, we don't have to! Not a ICO but a community fueled p2p DAG Platform that can handle ICOs, too (example: www.titan-coin.com). For real world usage look for the (currently Micky Mouse) Buisness that accepted it like the Restaurant in Milan Italy or the Hair dresser in Japan (Google it yourself).

The no-mining DAG thing is a issue waiting to be raised! Look at the global footprint of Bitcoin in terms of energy usage. DAG scales and is fast as hell with one confirmation 100% certainty in under 30 sek. for sure. Yes Dash and Pivx are massiv, but Blockchain vs. DAG is like Public Bus vs. Private Shuttle. Yes it cannot compare to the volume of bittrex but its tradeview (again you have to see it to be blown away!) is what a crypto-exchange should have looked like years ago.

I have to point out that more is in the pipeline (community development so no roadmap) and major holders of Byteball include Lisk and Iconomi (for obvious reasons).

The airdrop did hurt the price but strenghtens the community. The tech is prime. Love it, use it and word of mouth allowed me to get more of my friends to buy some than I managed to convince to buy BTC. For non Bitcoiners Byteball is actually very obviously a big step foreward.

Yes yes to much text BUT: face it 2017 is Bitcoins year and Bitcoin has worked its ass off to get where it is now. It really deserves it and it had to withstand all sorts of SHIT to do it. Bitcoin is in such a state of group think that I cannot handle Bitcointalk most of the time. Bitcoin is currently a yoga-position bitcointalk cannot get out of. It is really stuck. 2018 is still EARLY in the crypto-age and bitcoin has already a place in history like email. A new generation is coming (Ethereum is a case in point).

While I am here I may give a historical perspective, too:
Originaly there was Bitcoin and it did CPU and that was good. Than the Botnet, GPU, FPGA, ASICs and Terrahash china electricity thing. And thats supposed to be "fair"! Fuckoff. Noone is impressed if you need that much anything to encrypt something.
Early on Litecoin screamed foul and said back to CPU and I didn't listen. Bitcoin maximalism. Shitcoins are Shitcoin -You know? Meanwhile Litecoin is ASIC, too....
But on the way the cloning and ICO thing was discovered as the major thing for profit.... 2017 - BOOM!

Now look at the DAG again and tell me: No NO there must be mining.... The solution is so elegant that crypto cannot even see it has a burning house problem. Why? Cause Bitcoin is up. So all is fine.

Real projects getting real analysis and different perspectives by different people.

I was surprised to see that most of the people have voted for the same alcoin I did: Byteball. We may be right then!

Byteball  Because compared to any Blockchain protocol, it is vastly more scalable ON-CHAIN and has easy to use smart contracts.  The inventor and main developer Tony is also brilliant and pragmatic. If you have not read the Byteball Whitepaper then definitely start there; at least the first few paragraphs and last few. Next download the wallet and get an invite to the SLACK channel or join the Telegram group; someone will likely give you a few bytes to experiment with. Then install some bots onto your wallet and see the daily activity happening there. Insurance, betting, gaming, trading via easy to use smart contracts. Have a look at the merchant cash-back programme for distributing Byteball Bytes free (e.g. buy something like dinner in Milan, a hair cut or AirBnB rental in Japan, etc. with fiat and get 10% back as Bytball Bytes). Or buy with Byteball and get 20% back. Blockchain is a huge technical achievement, but it has become evident that it just can't scale to global proportions. Which may be fine if we break it down say to one Blockchain per institution or even industry sector. Hence proposals to simply take high volume transactions off this great invention and onto say a Lightning type extension. But if you think on-chain scalability is still very important then you should investigate systems using a DAG architecture such as Byteball, IOTA and Hashgraph. They have unbounded scalability. Each implements DAG in a slightly different but important way. And each has a different level of brand recognition, due to how each has been marketed at launch. Of the three I would argue that Byteball is technically the most mature in terms of utility. And utility has always been the approach used to create more value in the Byteball network. Actually using it in real life. IOTA is also interesting and I noticed that they are now beginning to pay more attention to showing that it is actually useful too; but that system does not use a deterministic method for consensus (it is probabilistic), I assume this is why they don't yet have an Oracle for transactions to be time-stamped, and no smart contracts yet. Transactions are described as 'free' but remember they still require significant proof of work to be done on other transactions before completing(which is a cost). Hashgraph does a good job of explaining DAG but it is not free to use and has patented various parts.
By the way in my opinion, DASH, BCH, IOTA, ETH are still worth holding but for other reasons mainly around brand recognition and how well they are organised as a project.

2018 is the next big thing for crypto space. I voted Waves coz the it high demand and low supply so im acquiring this coin and Smart contracts will release on Early 2018

Byteball is everyones little secret, hard to get into Slack, hard to buy a significant amount on exchanges. But it will reward the early investors extremly, when it moons it will be the mother of all moons. I have never seen such focused development and innovations in such a small amount of time. It is backing up all of its claims and implementing feature after feature, putting all vaporware coins to shame. When it moons there will be nothing, nothing to stop it, people will have never seen such a thing.

They had a difficult month with some bugs but now they have a very nice coin.
Its difficult to work for (almost) no money for a long time and in PIVX this is imbedded in the staking (10% goes to development).

Just to offer an alternative perspective to your call for voters and real projects: I am a relative newbie to the crypto world. I bought my first portion of BTC in order to invest in ETN's ICO. (don't judge  :P). So I've been in crypto for less than a couple of months.  I would love to vote or add some info but at this moment I'm doing my best to learn all I can so that I can make smarter investments than my first one. Threads like yours are gold because there is real content, and real information rather than just a bunch of shilling.

So maybe I haven't added to your number of votes, but you can be assured that I am reading up on and following your top coins closely, and probably going to purchase some once the opportunity arises. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one doing this. So in a way I hope this adds 'power' to your voting, albeit in a quieter way...

However it is great to get a thread going that will highlight ALL of the REAL projects as they meet the criteria in the OP.

This will be a community discussion and we will together analyse the projects deeply to ensure they are REAL. It does not mean some project not able to meet the criteria will not one day meet the criteria just until they do they just need to get out of dreams and talks fantasy white papers and have something tangible to show. I mean you may think well by that time they will cost magnitudes more??? well it seems to me people are almost valuing these projects as if they are fully built and functioning (just without the adoption they claim they will gain). To me most new projects are merely start ups that could not raise funds in any other way so they hopped on the crypto fomo train. We will see if they have devs with the skill set to actually build this fantasy they paint in their white papers.

Anyway this thread is not here to slate other project or say negative things about them individually. This is a thread and challenge to scour this board and find the REAL project that exist right now.

I find the current situation even worse, many new projects don't even have new ideas, they just copy old ideas & code with a new logo.
I think this thread could be a good starting point for people new to the cryptosphere. Its easy to get influenced by marketing so vaporware coins can rise high - but sooner or later people will notice which coins are vapor and the prices crashes.

1. Proven development team - already fully functioning product/software. Tweaks and improvements yet to come fine but the core product is functioning already.
It's from the developers of NXT, an already proven team of programmers.  NXT was a completely new cryptocurrency written from the ground up (not a bitcoin cloin). ARDR is the next evolution of NXT. It's been in development for over a year already. Testnet released, Mainnet to launch Jan 1st 2018.

2. Obvious Use case
The beauty of ARDR is its not looking to solve problems that don't exist yet. It's features have real world cases that are useful to current-day businesses. BaaS (Blockchain-as-a-Service) could be utilized by big brands (think customer loyalty points cards), insurance companies (immutable data), banks (obviously) and many other services. Child chains allow any entity to create and control their own blockchain easily and solve the current blockchain bloat dilemma (Bitcoin, Ethereum).

Everyone who held NXT during the Snapshot period was credited ARDR tokens on a 1:1 basis.

5. Long term commitment and proven staying power
The Jeluruda foundation raised over $150,000,000 in their IGNIS ICO which was open for months and sold 50% of all IGNIS. IGNIS is the first child chain of ARDR. The only way to get IGNIS now is to hold ARDR during the snapshot at the end of december to be credited .5:1 IGNIS to ARDR.
Obviously you can just look at NXT to see the teams long term commitment and staying power. With their current budget they can afford development and marketing for years to come.

I think there are some other project with really real project out there but i could not know how to explain.

Just quickly explained: what is a cashback merchant?
Any merchant can apply for the program. If he gets accepted his customers will get 10% of their purchase price returned to them curtosy of Byteball initial distribution. Let me speak a few words on the titan-coin ICO that is Part of Byteballs platform and just finished the pre-ico successfull: the money will be used to built a titan processing factory that secures the funds collected to buy industrial equipment with the unprocessed ore they already own. This I evaluate as another real world economic impact by Byteball. Not bad for first year of comming into existance.

Parts of Byteball are still bleeding edge raw like the byteball.market (no www and no .com). Your Browser will get you to a place where with the "Asset Manager" Byteball subtokens can be made without coding in the headless wallet (Byteball Pro-tool).

Other things are not quite catching on within the community. Example: Byteball.garden (No .com) which may grow to a social Network when more persistance than slack, telegramm etc. becomes desireable. Currently it is orphaned. Byteballs reddit however is doing OK. Its just not my thing.

Having volunteered at #helpdesk in the Byteball Slack I can attest that some users do have some trouble getting started ("explaining the airdrop again") but no major bugs exist (thats why I volunteered - I needed to know!). Yes some people fuck up the Blackbytes in their wallet with restoring out of date backups (i.e. after they had send BlackBytes... and then they restore). If that happens take it to helpdesk  ;D.

Meanwhile I have seen the japanese community having Byteball maskott drawing competitions. New users with Japanese Name appear almost daily in the Slack.

I hope I have stated my point fair and straight foreward enough (See my previous post, too) why Byteball may be the next big thing and hope for feedback. If any one of the WAVES people could elaborate their point I would love to read that. PIVX is clear to me. Game credits target audiance seems to me to narrow to be world scale (don't be discouraged - fire on all engines!)

I would really like to see if Blocknet can somehow leverage Ardor to keep it's chain size down, or maybe even look into some DAG tech, but I guess we'll see how it goes after the DX launches.

Yes blocknet - if they can get the UI and lite version out soon and get even a small adoption this project will explode. Like any project here even these REAL ones there is still no guarantees. But for sure they have come a long way and I have high hopes myself.

A real essential part of the decentralised trustless puzzle will be complete with blocknet and other real atomic dex.

Although for sure it is fully operational but it will be better x 100 when they have the lite version and more intuitive UI... hopefully soon.

I suspect some or all of those should be there but each one needs to be presented as specified in the OP because I do not have time to analyse every single project especially the initial distribution of them which is key. Also does omg , lisk, ark have fully functioning core products that are usable right now?

This thread is a community effort.

The person who suggests a project should use the layout as other have for easy verification by other community members.

If a coin gets added on false infomation then other community members notice this it can be removed.

So that's the reason why we do it like this.

Any project can be added or removed we just need to get enough people in here to fully analyse each one to make sure they can meet the criteria in the OP to be classed as a REAL project.

IOTA's security was badly broken, their devs are not trustworthy. Even if IOTA was not an obvious pump-and-dump ICO scam they would still not deserve to be in this list due to the low quality of their code.

Centralisation in DAGs in general is somewhat new territory. I have heared conversations that pointed out that a DAG is by definition centralized and Byteball is the most centralized project among them all.

Weirdly enough being a Byteball witness is a loosing proposition because the tiny tiny "oh god" transaction cost, a guardian against spam/floud (remember it can and will scale and so will the floud) does not yet cover your expenses. Therefore Anton Churyumoff (Byteball lead developer) still runs most of the witenesses, except 2.

And noone is applying as far as I know. Why am I not concerned? Because their are enough hubs. And turning a hub into a witness is according to one of the witnesses (@portabella) trivial. Except you expect the witnesses to be "always on"! Any one user only needs one witness

By the way, a witeness cannot change a transaction. Just
validate seniority by timestamp.

I see the Altcoin option, and I chose Byteball, because I saw Byteball very well in their trades, I believe Byteball is a very good future to invest, but that's just my opinion because I still survive in Byteball trading until now.

Perhaps there is one more point I can drive home about Byteballs design. It took me a while to see it and it is actually very fundamental. It is a point about Bitcoins relation to its mining pools: Bitcoin is as centralized as the central organizing/coordinating device of a mining pool.

Saying Byteball is centralized because of the witnesses is a doubtfull argument because:
A Bitcoin mining pool with 51% is the chain. Thats why they need to have several for decentralisation and it is mere social agreement that 51% is "Bad", but it certainly is centralisation. A (block)chain/line is the simplest geometry to represent TIME!
A witness shows direction of the DAG (directed Acyclo "meaning not ring/round" Graph) and therefore prevents cyclical states in the graph (No time/No Progression). So do the other witnesses and inform each other that they told some of the Byteball Bytes what time it is (by posting "units"/please refer to whitepaper for technical). Knowing time prevents the double spend. It also makes transactions fast fast fast.
In a sense you do everything yourself. No pool no nothing. But your witness tells you WHEN! you did it. So you know about NOW! Thats consensus.
Its fundamental. Its stupidly simple. Yet all Blockchains basically are a stupid linear clocks that hashes like crazy to prove you have done work and say what happend last. Because thats also how you distribute the Bitcoins and call it reward. And all you can do is walk a line and be in a chain. Thats why I call POW coins prisioners of work.

Byteballs 12 witness (the number is arbitrary and could be changed up or down within some limits) only sounds centralized. Perhaps it is not all arbitrary because we used 12 to tell time for a good portion of history. Would you really need even 12 Bitcoin Pools???

In the current state of Bitcoin you could almost stop the network by strategically taking out the mining pool coordinators of the biggest pool one after the other. In a sense Bitcoingold with its difficulty re-adjustment every block is no mear snake oil and may very well be way ahead of bitcoin ("Classic") if certain anti pool cenarios come to pass.... Likelyhood almost 0 unless someone wants to see crypto burn and goes after the pools.

I mined in a pool with a hd5830 when it still made sense and I already did point out how the Bitcoin Eco system did progress down to ASIC clusters mining lords that meet to agree and disagree on protocol changes (Segwit etc.) or forks.
For me bitcoin always was "the protocol". The mining pools were a way to contribute and recieve airdrop for the contribution. I never questioned the "why" because it was just the way it was. You have to mine and thats how you contribute and thats how you decentralise.


These 3 things:
1. decentralisation
2. distribution/Mining reward/airdrop and
3. contribution/community
where one thing.

Byteball has restructured them. Somewhat similar, somewhat radically different and somehow way more effective.

And it is by this that it is also no coincidence that the Byteball community is friendly, helpfull and not diseased with hype and buzz. A calm sense of progress is so symptomatic for Byteballs community and its organic growth. This is why so much was achieved in one year. 2018 may very well be a good year for Byteball. It takes time to be noticed by those who just have attention for the next Buzz. And why ask for attention If you can use it to grow the project?
Sorry if this implies a certain critic around the nature of this very thread  ;D It is not intended because getting 1000 votes is a worthy goal.

Awesome post. Actually this is quite educational and interesting to many i'm sure. You don't even have to leave this thread for a nice over view of some of the projects design features and strengths.

These kind of posts actually do assist people in making up their minds to vote and it would be great if others made some posts like this about the other REAL projects. I know BB is so radically different perhaps from btc that it needs greater explanation since many of the others are based loosely around btcs design. But still a detailed hightlight of each project would be great.

1000 votes would be great. I have not seen many polls here reach that I think a few have. Perhaps over time we can exceed that and also scour for every REAL project out there. If we could (big if) grow this thread to be a real pit of analysis that separates real from vapor (not meaning they will never exist just do not yet) and outright schemes and scams it would encourage other projects to distribute well and produce working functional projects with real use cases as quickly as possible.

Also if we hear even a hint of scam or bad news coming along they can be removed and a warning placed straight away.

I think Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash will be, not by their coin price but the price history itself.

Some Altcoins are very old like created while Bitcoin isn't that expensive. Like LiteCoin in 2013 and the Anstshares is also an ancient coin but struggling to be on top due to rivalries.

I agree with all that you say. It is a mystery why Byteball is not a top 10 contender.

However when the distribution is a dreadful as Byteballs with some of the main holders being competing projects then the price we would assume such a good project would hold is almost irrelevant.

It's been almost three years since BitBay made pay2mail possible, and I think byteball may be the third coin to implement this. So byteball is def early on this one.

I had no fully realised how few real projects there were here. I had previously thought I must have missed quite a few others but it really does seem there are NO other real projects as defined by the criteria in the OP

I'd like to include Electroneum (ETN) which is a fork of Monero.
Massive adoption potentials than any other crypto as the ordinary people (crypto newbies/smartphone users) are the target users.
The mobile phone "mining experience" too makes it difficult to ignore.

A good question but if you have used bitcoin lately you will see there is a great need as of now.

Many see btc being the gold - the storage of wealth on the block chain and not really of use to buy a coffee or even a coffee and a bun together.

Honing block chain for specific use cases is where alts come in.

For example dentralised trustless exchanges of both CC and physical goods are where bitbay, blocknet and others come in.

DAG with byteball promises great scaling potential

Others are for other specific uses although not essential to complete the trustless decentralised evironment we are pursuing but still important to the people that support those communitys and specific use cases.

That's my opinion others have their own.

I mean these things may all eventually be achievable with btc and mods/additions but it could be years if ever.

What makes BTC worth more? its security (is it more secure really though with some pools able to 51% if they really wanted to) or its fame and adoption and just general belief it it. Maybe btc will one day be the ALT.

But i agree that days seems a long way off whilst BTC is the base currency in exchanges and so well adopted.

For me its Komodo and Ardor. They are my favorites on the list, my suggestion is EOS and IOTA. Not because they are booming right now. I liked them before the boom.

Loving this thread, actually registered just so i can join here, after 7 months of reading a lot of nonsense in other threads.   

So, with only 7 months under my belt I feel far from confident enough to make a solid analysis, and would therefore like to ask if any of you have looked into XSPEC and DNA? To me they both seem to need a lot more development, but have a pretty clear goal.

Xspec had a terrible initial distribution not sure if it was entirely intentional or just everyone assumed it was a scam.

I don't really like any ico distributed coin as much as POW but if we must have them they should be proven to be widely distributed as much as we can tell anyway. Of course any ico can easily be gamed hard.

Bitbay is one of those slow burners up till now that has had an immense amount of development work done on the quiet that is actually gonig to create a brand new market sector. It is now starting to come of age. The thing in particular that will make it extremely powerful is that it has a monetary system that fits hand in glove with its network effect properties.

i.e. a stable pegged trading currency, but a rolling peg so that it's worthwhile investing in the blockchain which will grow in value as the network sees more trading use.

I really thing that it can perform by becoming an USDT 2.0, and also enable people to buy things with their cryptogains and avoid taxes!

There are other great projects I am not say there are not but Bitbay does stand out strongly amongst others.

Well there are good reasons for this.


1. sometimes the real projects just get along working working working coding designing and they don't put too much effort into marketing and creating awareness.

2. these devs are real coders and designers and this is where they are strong. Sadly some are idealists and will not go against their idealist ideas even if it means slow growth in terms of price because they are not willing to pump on fads and things they know are not long term beneficial. They are looking long term and are willing to suffer low caps whilst they get to their long term goal. They are only low because people are not aware of them or do not understand how much ahead they are of other dreams and talk fantasy projects that will probably never happen.

3. a LOT of the top coins have TERRIBLE initial distribution so you have a handful of people holding most of the entire minting. If you have collusion which is easy then it is easy to create and artificial high price. I mean a  LOT of the top coins are there by this method. Most new people and even old times either dont realise this or dont care. It is far far harder to create an artificial high cap if you have a wide distribution as collusion and market making is much harder.

4 People who do know about these often like to keep quiet and accumulate more.

You can go ahead and check the post of John Mcafee in his Twitter account and see what coins he think will make it big in the future. According to him, his picks are based on the white paper that he read leading him to believe in the project but he made a warning that he doesn't owe or have interest on the coins that he recommended.

But if he has not picked the REAL projects then I can not give much credibility to his recommendations.

If he had done some real research then I would question why his twitter has no mention of the REAL projects here.

White papers 90% of the time never get taken care of

Some white papers from big projects have been said to be worth of getting 3 nobel prizes to pull them off so we can see why these can be fantasy stories rather than reality.

However of course if he came here and presented any of his suggestions in the format of the OP and they passed the REAL projects ACID test then we could add them up.

So I started loooking at Bitbay.  Have not downloaded the client wallet yet, as it doesn't seem to work with my ipad, so will do it later on the desktop.   I have some questions

1) There are several projects in this space.  Some focused on specific market such as Augur is on prediction markets and others such as bitbay which offer several ways to engage with the platform.   I know you love bitbay, but why do you think it is better than its competitors? And aside from Bitbay what other project in this space do you like?  Just adding as I look into this more but seems quite a few in this space and with quite a bit of tech dev.  Sys, KMD, NXT and market specigic such as Augur.    Obviously, they will not all succeed -  We don't have multiple ebays.  How to pick winners from this bunch, and I am sure there are more I have not looked at yet.   For me the criteria includes:   Strong Vision, Proven Tech, Strong Team, Branding and Buzz (first mover advantage can not be underestimated) Funding.  Yes, funding is important as having deep pockets will help get you out of the gate faster, reach a critical mass quicker, and pull away from others in the field.    Given that wondering CH how you think the main players in the field stack up to each other?

2) My initial understanding is bitbay solves one of the current problems preventing buyers and sellers from using coins to buy/sell X, and that is price fluctuation.  Bay has a rolling peg.  How does this work?  How does it effect the price of the coin for people holding Bay as an investment?

3) Bay pitches itself as ebay without the fees.  How does Bay make money?

4) Bay pitches itself as ebay without the scams.  To buy/sell on Bay you have to put up a deposit.  Over time as trust is built the size of deposit decreases, but to begin let's look at newbie seller/buyer.   So if S is selling X for $100, S puts $100 in deposit.  B also puts $100 deposit and sends S $100 for X.  If S doesn't send X he loses deposit.  If B does not complete contract or something he also loses deposit.    In the example I used it is small change, but when bigger ticket $$$$ items are being sold and S has multiple items up for sale then S will have a cash flow problem because so much of S money tied up.  Possible it is not feasible for S or B to use the market as too much money tied up in deposits.     Is that your understanding of how it works CH or does it work differently?

Hi these are GREAT questions indeed.

These are only my personal views and since I am not a high level designer or coder then these answers are not to be taken on face value you must investigate and verify them yourselves ...


OKay, so firstly I do love bitbay. However not essentially for just the reasons people may think. I also love many other of the projects you mention too. All of the REAL projects out there are certainly worth personal and individual investigation.
I don't see some of those as direct competitors to bitbay. Sys is aiming at similar things and I like that too but the approach is different. The reason I simply bought more bay was because it was 6x smaller cap at the time and I do like his approach too. However both devs are in a HANDFUL of what I would term super devs here. Investigate all the real projects here sys too he is another top top level developer.

The decentralised market places are not really the only feather in their caps. They are both expanding into many other things. The important thing to realise here is if you have a SUPER dev (komodo has one too) then they can design and code out many different things and the project is very dynamic. For example I have heard DZ (bitbay dev) say he is analysing all different approaches dpos, vb's latest ideas on scaling , hash graphs (although these are patented) all kinds of things and is deciding how next to improve bay once he has finished with the dynamic pegging.

Now just back to the double deposit escrow system just briefly because although the basic principle can be simple the applications and permutations of it are far to expansive for this thread and indeed probably my mind. Full explanation of it in depth would best come from DZ himself. However what you say could be the case if there were any rules set in stone. It is fully adaptable according the seller and buyer they can adapt the double deposit escrow settings as they like. Also combined with a reputation system you start to see that you can ask for the completion guarantee you feel is suitable. It is simply a way for it to make it very difficult if not impossible for a person to scam you and make financial gain himself. To me it is a great idea and is the only trustless way to have a decentralised market place. The design is also very interesting if you examine it as it makes use of bitmessage.

Really though it is a way to conduct trustless contracts and the applications that could be built upon the bitbay core as you can image are vast. Really vast. I believe bitbay was the first smart contract system. It is not as complex as of course ETH but the core functionality is there for so many things and sometimes simple can be very very beneficial as long as it gets the job done. Don't get me wrong even DZ says ETH is a monster bit of work.

So next the pegging - I don't mind admitting this rolling dynamic pegging system and the exact mechanisms its works upon are beyond my understanding. However stability in value is the key aim within certain parameters. It seeks I believe to smooth greatly huge fluctuations rather than bolster to a fixed price.

Even those things are not really my key reason for loving it so much. It has decentralised governance it , i mean really all the key things you need in a trustless decentralised project. But more than all this I have simply come to believe if he wants something new in the design he will make it. So that is the key thing for me with all of these. Locate developers that have a PROVEN and TESTED track record of being able to take new ideas an implement them into the design. His plans for bay are quite huge but again a lot of what he says is beyond my immediate understanding. I have been watching them beefing up the team lately too and the best part is the developer is the most responsive developer on thread I have found. You can ask him anything and he come and explains it right away.

I like bitbay a lot I like lots of these real projects it would be incorrect to say that I thought it was superior technically to some of the others only listed here due to my realisation that an average joe only has only small hope of differentiation at a deep deep technical level. I simply see you can say hey why don't we have decentralised voting and governance then he says sure and makes it happen. Even though he was busy coding other features.. He see's something new that could be beneficial like cold staking for super security- not long later bay has it.

Really though I say you must all download the actual bitbay wallet (not the qt the fully functioning bay wallet) and test it out and watch the videos how to use it. I do think there is vast room for improvement on the UI and some of it is complex for the average user but those complex features are just there for those that do need that power. I know they are improving and adapting it constantly. I am looking foward to david finishing the pegging because i know that is a huge and complex piece of work... and adding more of the exciting things he has mentioned.

To me it certainly was the best value project out there and still presents outstanding value compared to dreams and talk fantasy projects out there. Let me say if he wanted to make a dreams and talk white paper he certainly could. Ask him about anything crypto related or that any project has proposed. You will see there is nothing much out there that he can not grasp.

So anyway yeah.... don't just listen to my personal reasons for liking bitbay go and investigate it all in depth and any questions you realise are beyond my scope then david would have no issue answering you in depth. If people investigate it and think its not as good as another project then they must go for the other project. I am always looking around and still don't see any projects better value. That's just my view.

All real projects are worth investigation for sure.

I have another opinion, I didn't choose those coin on that list. I observed a coin wich it has good progress. The coin is XCPO, for me it will as big as ethereum because the developer of this coin is still active to make their coin price up.

Well I am a relatively new investor in the crypto space and looking more into the criteria mentioned here. this is in fact a very good thread and I chose to post my first response here.

Would we want to consider Power Ledger here? They got a wonderful team working on energy trade on the eth blockchain and have already partnered with a few government organisations.

Cardano would fail to be added here in my opinion because it does not meet 2 points of the set criteria.

Personally I'm a little uncertain if it fits the criteria or not. My concerns are:

1. Proven development team. Not sure we can conclude a development team is proven after less than six months.
2. Obvious use case. Any coin can be used for charity, and several have it as their main focus. I don't believe that a coin who's only use case is charity has much chance of wide spread adoption, and thus also will fail as a charity coin. Maybe togoshigekata can elaborate on this?

Despite my above concerns, I believe it warrants a discussion about adding them to the list or not. Arguments have been made for all five criteria, and unless they are met by counter arguments, the coin should make it to the list.

 6 months is to young to be added to the list.If this coin will be added there can be added dozens of coins and that wouldnt be the sense of the thread i think.
The sense is to make a list with the best coins.Real longterm projects,fair,with a real usecase.Not any coins that is a little better then the rest.There are to many out there..

CyberMiles. currently they are still ERC20 token but they will move to their own blockchain. reason why they are going to be big? because the founders seem to be experienced in e-commerce industry. they created 5Miles last year.

RaiBlocks. it's my favorite. they grow a lot this month. probably will slow down in the next 1-2 months before they break all time high. They are based on DAG, similar to IOTA, but much more superior in transaction speed. It won't have much issues with blockchain scalability. check it out

ByteBall. I don't know any technical reason why it will blow up but I trust my instinct on this one. I have really good instinct they will blow up in the next one or two months

I also think they should not be added, but they made arguments for all 5 criteria so it's fair to discuss it before dismissing them I think.
I don't believe we can have any criteria for how old the coin should be to be accepted. Some coins go through a lot of development before they launch. But in this case I think they are to young to deserve the label proven. I base this on the age of the coin + one more argument that I did not make above; One of the arguments this is a proven team, was that the lead dev has 20 yours of coding experience. That is a good starting point of course, but does not make him a proven blockchain dev. We have several code monkeys in BitBay with a life long coding experience. They are very talented, but there is still a lot they don't know about blockchain. The reason that is not a problem in BitBay is that they have David to go to for guidance and code review. I don't see any experienced blockchain devs listed in the argument for BBP being proven team.

Hi All, Likewise here. I'm relatively new to Crypto and have been reading through the threads / doing my own research for last 9 months or so. Finally after much nonsence/promotion/ etc I decided to register in particular for this thread as we need more initiatives like this one to discuss useful projects in detail instead of promoting your own coin with no reasoning behind it.

Obviously I'm not allowed to vote but would personally go for ByteBall (yes i have an interest in it already). Think its great what the team are doing and definitely see a bright future.

I have another opinion, I didn't choose those coin on that list. I observed a coin which has good progress. The coin is XCPO, for me it will as big as ethereum because the developer of this coin is still active to make their coin price up.

but now that he has been posting here, we might as well us that as an example to educate people that are new to crypto.

If a project resorts to spamming, that's a clear sign to stay away. Mostly it is an indicator that the project is smoke and mirrors. It has nothing substansial to market. The veterans tend to stay clear, and the spammers know that. They target the noobs. And you really don't want to invest in a project where the majority of investors are noobs. There is two main reasons for this:

1. The veterans are the ones with money because they already have made big profits. Where a noob often brings less than 1 btc to the table (and certainly less than 5 btc) a veteran might bring hundreds of btc. In other words just one veteran can often move price more than a thousand noobs.
2. When price goes down, noobs tend to panic and increase the downward spiral. The veteran buys the dip instead and thus helps stabilize.

Also be aware that many have shilling/spamming as their job. They may have a lot of accounts on bitcointalk and switch between them to give an appearance that many are interested in a project. After a while you will learn to recognice them.

So do yourself a favour and stay away from any project grever or any other spammer promotes. It will save you a lot of money

So many new dreams and talk projects popping up that have nothing essentially to do with crypto. It is going to all boild down to the REAL projects eventually and the first on those ships will be the ones who are rewarded for their early selection and research the most.

It's good the team is always expanding.

Ethereum Is the next big Altcoin.  Ethereum has surpassed many Altcoin in network stability and use.  And there is planned development that is been carried out in Ethereum.  Another thing is ethereum has a leader that is constantly steering it to adoption and development.

The only one I voted for on that list was ByteBall since it's actually something different instead of just another "me too" coin.  I'd like to have seen Nano (formerly known as RaiBlocks) on that list.  I see it as what BTC originally aimed to be—a truly usable cryptocurrency.

I didn't mean to imply that the other coins on that list aren't good; I'm actually holding some of them. but even though they seem like good bets, they didn't "wow" me like ByteBalls since it was the first DAG implementation I'd seen instead of being yet another—however fundamentally sound—iteration of Satoshi's original Bitcoin.  It's the reason why I decided to look more into RaiBlocks when I came across it, which I probably wouldn't have normally done because of it's name.

Ethereum Is the next big Altcoin.  Ethereum has surpassed many Altcoin in network stability and use.  And there is planned development that is been carried out in Ethereum.

ETH is already a big thing. Some of its early investors are now billionaires.

But the biggest problem is that ETH has serious scaling issues. At some point it will make Bitcoin look like visa.

I agree ETH has still so many things to show. It Will reach 5000+ dollars  this year!
However you can not expect to gain x100 if you yust started investing in ETH. Then other alts are better option!

It will be a pokemon hunter type of game - Augmented reality - run around and find treasures and win their crypto coins by finding stuff around where you are in real life. If it gets anywhere NEAR the traction Pokemon hunter or whatever that game last year was called, then this could be a good one to get in to.

I beleive this project can overshadow Ethereum. Driven by community its already a top-100 in CMC.
The idea of blockchain 3.0 with proof-of-signature and super secure data storage is great.

It's not because BitBay is going down. Quite the opposite, Bitbay has had a very big increase the last year. The reason is all those vaporware ICO's that have come with big(mostly manipulated) marketcaps.

The web markets is basically just contracts and markets on the web without having to download any software. It should be compatible with the client wallet for contracts.

as you can see Syscoin only has 200 commits on master but we work in branches because we want to ensure master is stable and all new stuff in a branch as per our release process. I have over 2000 commits personally over the last year which would put us in top 3 or 4.

Also most projects there now just merge in bitcoin commits and thus you see top commiter as Wladimir van der laan of bitcoin core github user laanwj. That is not indicative of pushes from the respective projects. Overall that site needs work and is not to be relied upon for stats.

Go over to contributers on all these projects and you will see laanwj as biggest. On Syscoin I am right behind him.

I find this project rather interesting and although it has not been added as yet to the very select list I like to see it discussed in this thread because it looks like a solid project with a solid developer. Whether 1/ he is a super talented developer like those that have created something VERY different/novel or has a VERY solid use case remains to be seen. It is a project that should be observed further.

I think there are a few like this .. that are of interest and need further investigation as they progress.

In a market full of hyped projects sometimes the hidden gems are the ones that adhere to the KISS principle, one such project IMO is CBX aka Bullion (formally Cryptogenic  Bullion).

CBX has low inflation of 2% but adds a simple innovation to tradition PoS whereby coins in offline wallets do not age, so the 2% inflation is only earned by coins in online wallets. I observed a coin which has good progress. The coin is XCPO, for me it will as big as ethereum because the developer of this coin is still active to make their coin price up.

I agree this project is a very very undervalued.

I think once they release the unique masternode feature with the queue system and also get on the cbx direct fiat exchange that is being set up this project will take off .

I would say that it does meet the criteria in the op for sure. If there are no legitimate objections to it being added I think we should put it up there soon or certainly once they release the masternode queue system.

CBX could easily x20 in the next few months, insanely cheap for a coin that'll be 5 years old next month, the original thread shows the launch was fair with a small premine of ~1% and the original dev is still at the helm. Definitely one to watch after the fiat exchange listing.

Just throwing this in here to spark some discussion. I've been following your thread from the beginning and have learned a lot. With the criteria you designated, you have highlighted some excellent alts that are truly worth believing in. But may I respectfully say that perhaps one other criteria should have been added to your list: solid/concerted effort to market the alt to investors.

It's an unfortunate truth that with the lack of awareness of what these alts can bring to the table, they could fade into obscurity. Meanwhile, crap, flash alts make a killing because they pumped most of their money into marketing rather than actually developing their products. My point is, can you really call an alt a REAL prospect if it never really achieves its full potential due to a lack of investor interest?

You are 100% correct.

However if I were to add this criteria then I would need to remove a good many of these solid alts and which would mean they have even less chance of being noticed in the sea of dreams and talk shit projects that are in the spot light due to investor ignorance and shrewd marketeers with no coding and design skills.

I believe we must rely on investors wising up since the best coders and developers seem to be dreadful at marketing with the exception of perhaps eth and a couple of others that have already hit the big time.

I'd say there's a pretty strong use case in buying coffee (or paying for ride share coordinated via DApp) with crypto and not having to stand around for a minute or more awaiting block confirmation, nor deal with an exorbitant transaction fee.

An asset/token platform that facilitates zero-confirmation instant transactions at high throughput with PoW double-spend protection is most ideal.
