I always kind of hoped that one day all the fair weather fans would start to wander off. The folks would lose interest and forget why Bitcoin got to where it is today. It blew up so fast that I worried I'd never be able to acquire Bitcoin but it seems a miracle has happened. Everyone in this space now has no idea what the point even is!

:) It's terrific, before Bitcoin hits 100k and eventually a million a whole new wave of noobs are coming and going driving the price back up and then eventually leaving. You guys know this exact thing already happened right? The people that get Bitcoin keep stock piling, everyone else loses interest time passes and it explodes up again.

Anyway, thanks to everyone that contributed to bring the price down. I truly appreciate it and it was good having you around for a while. :)

Only when there are market fluctuations can we make profits. Lowering prices will allow us all to hold more bitcoin at a lower price, and I am also grateful to those who have lowered the price.

The correction we are experiencing right now is necessary for bitcoin to reach $100,000.

Also, money is flowing out of crypto at the moment and no new money is coming in. If some were able to move to fiat some 3 weeks ago, they are in a good position to come back in the coming weeks.

The price has been stable lately so I guess this means there will be something big happen any moment. Those who continue to buy and hold will received a huge reward. This is the time to hold and stock some bitcoin before it will explodes this upcoming months.

Bitcoin will never reach $100k. There are many better, cheaper and faster altcoins now and 2017 situation will not occur again. Bitcoin lost its monopoly.

This really shows that most of the newcomers only wanted quick bucks. They never show interest in technology behind bitcoin. This is really a great chance to acquire and hold bitcoins until it rises again.

The bitcoin yet didnt lose its monopoly . But will do in a couple of years if there will be nothing from developing team.

this is just your assumption, you are not sure of that... when the price was 1000 and see that it was this same month last year that the price of bitcoin fell from  $1000 I think if the memory does not fail me for  $700 everyone said that bitcoin died. when the price reached  $5000 and china banned the exchange and bitcoin fell to  $3000, everyone said that bitcoin died and that it was impossible to reach  $7000, see: today is $10.000... so do you think bitcoin is dead? if bitcoin die, all altcoin die too!


these better coins that you are talking about that are better than bitcoin, depend of bitcoin, if bitcoin falls, then those coins also fall.

I had one friend who thought it was too late to get on the bitcoin train but now he is on board now because of the price drop. I do believe btc will hit $100k in the future.

i am actually a bit mad about what is happening right now because it proves once again that bitcoin market is still susceptible to manipulations, and as you said there are a lot of newbies who are making a certain group of people (the market makers if you will) richer each time something like this happens.

each time i see something like this is spread in the news and then price tanks i recall the glorious day back in January 2015 when same thing happened and my orders which were placed for fun at $170 and $180 were filled... and that was nearly the start of me buying bitcoin.

Been there when it hit 20K, thought there would be no end to the gains. Happy too it went down to reasonable price.
BTW, i started buying BTC when it was only 4-6K levels and was not able to buy more when it suddenly exploded.

Do you guys really think BTC will reach $100,000 per coin? This is near impossible and I'll be the first one to hedge against that. This dip has got me a little worried I have to say. It's the biggest pullback I've seen since I started investing, and the manipulation of the market will eventually require USA government to step in. Who knows what will happen once that occurs.

Wow really? It went from worthless to 2 cents from 2 cents to 20 cents, 20 cents to 2 dollars, 2 dollars to 20 dollars 20 dollars to 200 dollars 200 dollars to 2000 dollars and 2000 dollars to 20,000 dollars.

This wouldn't be much of a leap of faith at all, what does it need to hit 15-20% of the market cap of gold for that to happen, it annihilated 100% of the silver market cap.

Also the comment about 'faster and cheaper alts' is misguided, it's all open source software, anyone can take anything from anyone...

Will the 2017 cycle be repeated? Just as prices have fallen to steady levels, then the fever in the world crypto market. I no longer have a good profit in the moment. However, I will patiently wait for that repeat boom. I think reaching $ 100,000 with bitcoin is not easy. Too many recent changes have created a detriment to bitcoin in the world.

It is true that too many investors in the cryptocurrency market have been overly optimistic about cryptocurrencies, leading to a serious bubble in the entire cryptocurrency market.

Yes I do think that bitcoin will reach $100,000 per coin soon. Look at the distribution and increase of bitcoin every year, it's more than 100% last year so the same thing can come up until it reaches $100,000.

This is not the right time to conclude, and we can't say altcoins will still exist if bitcoin fall hard. Bitcoin is a great technology that everyone should use, this is the best time to own bitcoin at a lower price, we are still lucky that we see bitcoin on this level before its go high better to grab this opportunity now.  

Yes I think it is good time to buy. Future is unpredictable but it won't go wrong when you bought low.

Thinking this way it's a good opportunity for new people adquire their first coins for a reasonable price, an optmistic point of view. But I think from another perspective too: BTC was skyrocketing in the end of 2017, many people bought BTCs for $14.000-16.000, or even $19.000, who knows... They were expecting BTC to continue on that trend and to recover their money fast with profits and it didn't happen, their progress is deeply negative. So these people are a bit worried about Bitcoin at this moment and that is the kind of opinion they will spread...

A series of of announcement from China, South Korea and India that they curve BTC really affect the price. Now Facebook riding on the same train with three giants countries this will bring more blow to the price of btc. I have just in my mind that these series of attack is just a marketing strategy to bring down the price so that new coins/tokens generation could root in the market or it is just a price manipulation to secure a better profit after investing on BTC at the lower price. We can still expect that the price of btc will bring back to its peak.

The big investors from Wall street are primarily behind this latest decline in the price. There are a lot of these people invested in Bitcoin Futures and they are using other people's money to manipulate the Bitcoin price, to protect their investments in these Bitcoin Futures.

The announcement that Facebook are banning Crypto currency and ICO advertising, cannot be the main reason for this drop in the price. ^grrrrrrrr^

Me too. During the latest bull run to $19K I'm constantly worried that I might never be able to acquire Bitcoin again, that I might too late to the train. This is all because I'm currently not holding enough Bitcoin. I feel that I need to hold more for my future self.

Now this correction is giving me chance to acquire more, to buy and earn more Bitcoin. I'm happy with the price going down because my main action now is buy and hold instead of selling. Price pump doesn't really excites me, good development does.

I find it quite remarkable how optimistic people are. Everybody now says that this the right time to buy, but what happens when all the FUD continues throughout 2018? I believe that 2018 will be the year cryptos will become heavily regulated and I am wondering if this will really help drawing in new investors, which is an absolute prerequisite for prices to grow. The incredible surge of 2017 was caused by an enormous hype in the mainstream media, currently there is only talks about the negative sides of BTC. If this trend does not reverse I see dark times ahead.

I can also understand those that bought around the end of 2017 and who believed that the bullrun would continue and are now desperate to sell. Do you believe that there will be any fundamental news that will cause BTC to rise again? I don’t see any on the horizon.

It's a hype cycle but for 9 years everytime it recovers from the loss of hype it blows up even higher because it's one of the greatest inventions of our generation!

Yes thats true bitcoin is for long term investments and been proven for 9 long years.Though there were many speculations that bitcoin will fall all we do is to have positivity inorder not to do panic selling that will cause price to dumps..in these trying times of bitcoin and for bitcoin holders this is the best time to buy btc at a low price because i believe that it will continue to its journey for long due to mass adoption that increases its demand that will cause price to rise again.

Bitcoins are very well priced to buy and hold for a long time. When the market recovers, you will not be able to buy the bitcoin at the current price. Speculators have bought enough bitcoin and the time to return the bitcoin pump is very close.

I guess that's the spirit of a true believer. I agree with you, most of the retail investors that brought the price up, didn't really understood bitcoin. They just start hearing about it, saw it was worth nothing in 2009, and slowly increased over the years, and then it was finally booming in 2017. All they saw was the potencial to profit, and bought at the top. Since they didn't made any research, they think it's over and are selling like crazy. A few stayed and the initial holders, plus the few new holders, are keeping the price where it is now. Eventually a new boom will happen, probably because of the lightning network, or ETFs, or whatever, and the cycle will repeat. We will probably continue this way, until everyone that buys bitcoin, know what they are doing, and becomes a true holder.

This newly repeated opportunity is wonderful. The whales are enjoying right now because they can fill their portfolio because of the manipulation that had played its part. We are witnessing the beginning of the great growth. Divergence has helped a lot because the centralized dudes can now try to hunt fish in a real lake because this crypto lake will suddenly start to close the borders for the centralized fishers.

You sure are an optimistic person, but yes bitcoin is a sleeping giant, it still wait for the right time to go up, but its not going to happen soon, aa you can see there are still pressure from everywhere, from the users that demand faster transactions and reduction fee, from the investors that invest the money in alt coins and from the government that looking way to regulate bitcoin, once every thing can be settle then bitcoin will back to it's prime condition

By the time Bitcoin reaches 100k it will be outdated.  Blockchains are not the future because quantum computers are on the way  Coins like Iota which do not use blockchains will be the future  The blockchain is one huge downfall of the cryptoworld

The fanciest part to me about bitcoin is you never know what is the bottom and what is the roof.

Yes I totally agree. The price fluctuation is actually healthy, especially when it’s down. Meaning that it is another opportunity for us to accumulate more bitcoin and it also attracts more investors. Yeah, I am also wondering what will happen to all altcoins if btc will still go down. Those alts will turn into dust, so many people will lost a lot of investments. I'm not happy happening this by now because l have no money budget for holding coins. Because l have to give all my relatives everytime l get my pay. Yeah probably they are the people who joined Bitcoin when price are going crazy and now they are giving up because of the dip. Hopefully they don't regret selling losing faith and selling their Bitcoin. Alt coins are just alt coins they are the imitation of Bitcoin. I too profited a lot especially when it reach 20k last year and i will still keep my Bitcoin whatever happens because the Bitcoin i am holding now is already some of my profit. I will not lose anything even it drops below 1k$.

There is some sense in these speculations. Meanwhile, I do not think that Bitcoin will go so high. And the prognoses about 100 thousand for 1 BTC seem to me something very unreal. I vote  for 20-25K maximum.

I understand this not at all, so you can see it hitting 25k but not 100k? You realize it's completely arbitrary right, what if instead of 21 million Bitcoins there were 210 million bitcoins would the max in your head then be 2 thousand dollars? What if it was 2.1 billion Bitcoins, then you could never see it getting over 200$.

Satoshi used to post on this board (obviously) and he said either Bitcoin would be 0 or it would be enormous. 25k is nothing... A person wasn't meant to own an entire Bitcoin there's only 21 million of them.

Well, some people happy to see the lower price, because they waited and now buying... but those who bought 17k, are not happy, but good things is price will go up, all you have to hold and relax. Don't panic, it happened in past lots of time. i believe within couple of weeks, price will recover.

History has shown over and over that when Bitcoin makes a huge correction, it eventually recovers and goes even higher. So many people have not yet entered crypto space which means there is still tons of room for growth. When people wake up and see their dollar value is getting to be less and less, they will be more motivated to get something that will last.

I too hope that Bitcoin will continue to drop, It would be nice to see it drop to $1.
Its still way over inflated and just maybe people will start to use it like it was inteneded for instead of stuffing it up by using it as get rich quick scheme. Thats if Bitcoin ever sort out the network problems.

I agree with your idea sir william, this could be the starting point towards making possible high profit when you could buy it on just a very low price and probably sell it on the highest possible price later. I was thinking a few weeks ago to stop buying Bitcoin and just start trading alternative coin. I noticed that the bitcoin price have been stabilized and seems to be on its corrected price, but due to Bitcoin's sudden drop it gave me again a desire to buy larger volume of bitcoin. I feel like something big will happen, I wont be surprise of the price get doubled.

I already bought bitcoins, Im already decided to invest for a long term. I still believe that bitcoin has a bright future, hoping that it will continue to rise.

This is a price correction phase for BTC.If you see crash history of BTC,you will be confident that after every crash it recovered and attain high price level,same is expecting here.New money is coming in which means that  price will start increase after some time and it will gear up to higher level again.People who sold their BTC some months ago would come again to invest in BTC and in this way demand will increase which will push upward in price.Currently downward trend in BTC price would prove a good step and hence in coming few months it will be on top level even more high as compared to 17 Dec-17.2018 would prove another stellar for BTC.Due to this price fall i invested in BTC trade and having strong conviction that i would receive more return than last year.

As for me, I won't celebrate yet, because we don't know how the price would go in the next couple of days. Yes, I'm happy as well to see the price going back and the market green again. But we don't know if this is another bull trap. Although there's positive views regarding the US Senate hearing, I don't think it will be enough to push the price to another rally. Let's just continue to observed the market, before jumping to conclusions here. I'm still not sold if this is really a rally that we are witnessing.

To be honest in these circumstances, my feelings are uncertain, i am afraid of losing, and on the other hand i feel happy because this is a wonderful opportunity to buy.

I think the correction was a must. But I don't think it was healthy. Because there were many rumors and FUD that caused the price to fall. It was not normal. But seems that current price rise is more healthy.

You can say it that now but when the time flies you will regret that message soon and probably you aren't stayed longer enough here to know what is happening. Since i think this is your first time to encounter a downfall of Bitcoin, why don't you take some time to reflect and learn all of the information here. It might change your views that without Bitcoin some of the altcoin were nothing too.

This is funny because it is true, the price cannot go up unless more people want to get bitcoin and are willing to pay higher prices, but people that have been in bitcoin for a long time are not going to make such mistakes so it is up to the new people to buy at those high prices, those that buy now will be able to get huge profits but those which come late or do not take advantage of this opportunity will lose money once again.

Yes, I'm also very happy that this happened, it gave me an opportunity to buy bitcoins at a low price, it would really love to see it fall a bit more but I guess the correction is nearly over. Actually what you said is true, and I am one of those people who are actually very happy because bitcoins price went down again, I sold most of my bitcoins when its price went to its peak, it totally gave me loads of profit, now that its price is low, I took that opportunity to get my hands on bitcoin again, definitely its price will go flying again, and I tend to do the same thing as I did last time.

Well suddenly we've all become hopeful lol. A couple of days ago you can feel the anxiety throughout the entire market but i think it's passing now. The good outcome of the sec hearing probably kickstarted what seems to be a potential bull run.

In and around 2015 bitcoin hit 1000 dollars and then it went subsequently down to 700, 600, then 200, and it stayed at those levels very long. But later it recovered and reached 20k. Similarly, I think that this time we may go even lower than we are today (like down to 3-5k) and later recover to ... 100k. Why not?

It was a healthy fall as long as it was for the right reasons.( over heated market, projects not operating correctly ect .. )  But was it the big boys fudding to get in on the game cheaply. That would piss me off. There was an awful  lot of out right wrong stories in the media last month that led to the fall and what coin market cap did with the S Korea money. And this all began to happen right after the futures market kicked off. All these big banks and media outlets/newspapers ect are friends. If they are the ones guiding the price jumps and dips then we are in trouble. They are ruthless and they dont care for the underlying core beliefs of the crypto coins.

Yes,it seems like a dream that i can't imagine that happen in real life. Bitcoin is a blessings on us that want to have a stable job relaxing and any time you want to work. Even when you are in bed you can post on it and in a short period of time you can earn bitcoin change in local money and continue your life. So happy that it is happening now.

Yes me too and I know it does not make me even more money but having sold out at $18k and seeing the prices
fall like I predicted after the miners screwed us over for $55 per transaction it sort of makes me feel richer.

Sure it could shoot back up but you know what they say about a bird in the hand is worth two in

I think it is stoo much I can't imagine if BTC hit 100K how much the eth then? and other  active top coins? If ever it would reach that amount it takes times or several years to hit that price lot of correction happen and lot of experience trader gain profit and as usual weak hands and panic seller is always the losser.

I don't really get you clearly but from what I understand from your write up you are saying that newbies or weak holders of bitcoin are the reason the Price of bitcoin is where it is today and that they need to give ways for the Price to explode up in the future. At this moment, I am not so much happy because last year bitcoin spend a great time. But now the market condition is so poor.Bitcoin lost his valu. I have always said that this price fall is healthy. it was well needed to keep the BTC system healthy. We should all see this price fall in good light.
