Title: Altcoin bleeding. When does it stop
Post by: HenneWhatElse on February 20, 2018, 11:04:39 AM
Bitcoin reached already Resistance at 11.6k and failed for now. Can we predict an Altcoin recovery as soon as bitcoin corrects to 10k ? oR do altcoins recover first if bitcoin is stabilized?

I actually do not know if i should hold btc or buying cheap alts or waiting till alts start to recover.

i would appreciate an experienced answer.

As before, the bitcoin price is stable and the altcoin price will be green.
Let's wait this summer.

You can predict with anything that you want whether bitcoin corrects at $10,000 or even lower.

Trust in bitcoin, its the best long term hold.

For long term business, it's clear that bitcoin is the optimal choice ( it may reach 20 k $ within few months )

Now market re arranging after chinese new year and profit taking . Now investors are back . Instead of checking coin price try to analyse market cap . Now its around 500 Billion+ and fluctuating between 500 Billion from last couple of days . Once the market cap increases price will automatically increase . Based on my assumption recently lots of ICO collected huge ammount once these project hit to the market price will go high .

the altcoin dumps will only stop the day they stop being pump and dump coins. and that day is not coming to us anytime soon. so until that day whenever a coin is pumped you should expect them to get dumped right after.

I actually do not know if i should hold btc or buying cheap alts or waiting till alts start to recover.

there is no such thing as "cheap altcoin". they are all expensive because they are not doing anything and also they are pumped and are inside a bubble.
you should only buy altcoins that will get pumped. for example ETC got pumped today ;)

The altcoin will stop falling only when there is a big rise in bitcoins, as it still looks like a bear market in cryptocurrency markets,In my view, confidence in cryptocurrency markets has not been restored.

Now the market seems to be in gain of stability to move forward. The days of altcoins bleeding were over, and now everything is fluctuating within limited margin. This will be gaining resistance for a forward push which let's the price reach $15000.

I think altcoin will recover if bitcoin would be stable in $11k -$12k but if bitcoin continue to spike high, altcoin will continue to bleed because they only maintain the value in dollar and not in bitoin pair. I suggest that you stay in bitcoin until it reach $20,000  rate before buying altcoins.

This already happened not far ago, when BTC was growing all alts that don't have fiat pares felt in the bloodbath. After BTC stopped his fast growth they all pumped) Just wait till BTC stop for a rest) and don't buy them for a long period of time) But top alts that have trading pair with usd showed significant growth together with BTC.

This will always go on like this. Sometimes BTC rises, and sometimes altcoins. So who won in this times, day traders of course. It is unlikely that someone with too much free time will profit in these fluctuations.

Definately when btc stabilizes than the altcoins will stop the bleeding, as i said a lot before we need something new in the market which is a lot more stable, we cant just  hold on to btc as if it goes up the alts go down, and when it goes down alts again go down, that is not normal, and it needs to change!

I don't think there is no way you can control the bleeding even that Bitcoin and some altcoins are surging towards $12,000. You can't even control newbies and inexperienced cryptocurrency traders and airdrop/bounty dumpers from withdrawing their funds for their needs.

It is what cryptocurrency is all about, and we should know how to play by the unpredictability. No way it could stop bleeding, and no way it could stop surging as well.

In my opinion bitcoin and other alts are recovering. If you have doubts you just need to be positive in your alts and hold them. Investing in crypto currency is very risky if you don't have guts and knowledge. Many of us think that at the end of this month bitcoin and other alts will continue to recover and grow.

Many people entered marked during bull time and are used to price going up up up up so I understand that many are frustrated right now, MY best advice to anyone invested in crypto ... if you are down -10% -20% or more just hodl... it will all rise again but it may take time. You just have to be patient ... This is no time to be "trader" so just hodl ... in a couple of months you will be singing again and be "trader" again :)

I don't think somebody could give the closest answer and reasons why Bitcoin is marching backwards since yesterday and this moment is yet still expected to happen since Crypto Market is very volatile.
Traders and investors were making money and they deserve it. Earning money through Cryptocurrency is one of the best ways to get rich so people are investing Bitcoin and Altcoins but they also getting their money our of it.
The reason behind this another dip would be the reason Bitcoin would surge and pump more in the next few days.

when there will be short red-green candles in btc chart , that too in balanced mode ,
alts will start to rise then ,

now btc daily have long red or green candles and not stable at all , so investors doing short trading between both .

Normally altcoins are growing when bitcoin's price has stabilized or did sideways, and most of the time bitcoin's price is testing the resistances the altcoins and the whole market bleeds,so it is better to stick with bitcoin when the times like this because whatever happens to bitcoin's price the altcoins suffer,so best thing to do is to stick with bitcoin.

The price of the current altcoins is greatly influenced by the exchange rates of Ethereum and Bitcoin. There were times when the Bitcoin exchange rate rose sharply, but Ethereum fell and vice versa. So long-term investment should be invested in Bitcoin and Etherer, while short-term investments make profits, investing in altcoins such as LTC, DOGE, NEO, Ripple :))

I don't have much experience yet, but from what I have observed, when bitcoin's price begins to rise sharply, altcoins price are lowing. The same happens when bitcoin's price falls. Normally when the bitcoin's price stabilizes or is lateral, altcoins are growing.

That's right. It's a good thing I kept some of my btc. I'm now using them to buy altcoins at super cheap rates. History is repeating its self again in the market. The bearish trend usually follows a successful end of the year bull run. The current downtrend should stop somewhere around March - April.

With all the recent bad news/ reputations in crypto. I would forcast sideways movement, includes some dips for the crypto market. It will probably move back up in Q2/Q3. China would not make much impact now as the govt crakdown and blocking of all trading website. Thus slowing down the price going upwards. Hopefully china will lift the ban, then we'll see the crypto prices going up like crazy.

We can't predict what happen to the market value. if it will go up or down. or maintain. but don't buy yet. As advice, wait a little bit longer before you buy. Because the price now is lil bit higher than before 7000$ for bitcoin. So wait until it drop again before investing to it. Then don't sell too. Just hold you bitcoin if you have 1 bitcoin.

I think this is the impact of the large users who sell their bitcoins. you know a few days ago the price got down to $6k. and then the price continues to rise periodically to reach $11k. of course users who buy at the price of $6k will sell it yesterday. because they almost profit 2-fold. of course they will not waste that opportunity right ? but you don't need to be afraid. the price will stop down again and then they will buy bitcoin again and be prepared for a price higher than $11k yesterday dude

All the gains we received for the past week have been erased. The market is irrational because we got good news this week like robinhood opening and ripple adding new clients and everyone is still selling. For some reason, some of the youtubers I watch are expecting a huge bull run in April/May. Not sure what they're basing that on.

This does not seem realistic at all, there needs to be a reason for bitcoin to touch those prices, what it is going to create such an interest in bitcoin? In order for the price to grow like that you need a huge demand and demand is not going to be there especially in these markets where bitcoin and almost all alts are red again I would like for this to be temporary but it seems we are not going to see a huge increase in the price soon.

Robinhood opening doesn't seem to actually be that positive now that we know they aren't even maintaining their own exchange. They are just using other exchanges so there's not much attraction for new investors that are skeptical of crypto exchanges and were hoping Robnhood would be safer.

I believe we have been through the worst of it. We've seen a 60% Retracement which doesn't compare to one of the retracement's BTC experienced with 80%+

There are multiple scenarios
1) BTC rise, ALTS rise
2) BTC stabalizes, ALTS rise
3) BTC bleeds, ALTS bleed
4) BTC rise, ALTS bleed

What typically happens though is when the masses purchase BTC, they allocate some of it into ALT's...I've been doing a lot of research and ALT season should be just around the corner...and should last a few months. Some speculation is many ALTs will 3x... I would say HODL if you have ALTs and check your blockfolio in a few months :)

I pity you if this so-called altcoin bleeding is already bad for you. 2014 was the worst, most members here have stopped posting, the volume in the markets have dwindled to an average of $200 per 24 hours per coin. Lackluster coin launches only attracting the pump and dump groups. Back then, you fear that crypto was a fad and slowly dying.

Now? Many of you newbies are making the markets expand. What I see is a distribution phase in the markets where the earlier adopters/holders are distributing coins to you newbies.

After this distribution, the markets will achieve equilibrium and may experience some price ranging or sideways movement and then a new trend will form, possibly 80% chance of continuing the bull market.

Wow 2014 looks scary based on what you say.I wasn't into crypto that time although I badly wish I was :( ..What I don't understand is why do all altcoins bleed when eth ort btc goes down?
I get that it maybe because most exchanges use these coins for buying altcoins, but even many established coins start going down when btc goes down . Why is that, is it just because of sentiment?

The fact that Altcoin is bleeding is a characteristic that can not be ruled out while talking about cryptocurrency. Its normal for a coin to experience fluctuations in price due to demand and supply.
Just be patient and it will go green again.

I traditionally have a deal with well known famous currencies. I am talking about first of all Ethereum and Bitcoin. On my mind there is no sense in buying Bitcoin now. On my mind it is better to wait for some time and buy Ethereum.

In my opinion, you need to save your bitcoin. Or buy the best altcoins instead. When the growth of bitcoin begins, all altcoins will lose their value. Then the best and stable alts will start to rise in price following the bitcoin. But the weak projects will sink even more to the bottom.

Before you trade altcoin the first thing  you should know is that there is an inverse relationship between altcoin and btc. Also make sure you do a proper research  on the altcoin you have chosen to trade cos there are alot  of altcoin whose major purpose is for pump and dump so altcoin won't go any where.

Generally speaking, when the market is recovering from a dip, altcoins are bouncing more quickly than bitcoin.
But in the past week, it was quite different. Bitcoin was gaining more dominance when the market recovered.
Let us see what will happen when the whole market is moving up again. My prediction is bitcoin will lose dominance gradually.

If bitcoin price breaks $12300 level and be stable on that level, I believe that we will see alt party. Marketcap is very low and people buy bitcoin with their alts or they sell their bitcoin and buy tether or USD. First we need volume!

I get that it maybe because most exchanges use these coins for buying altcoins, but even many established coins start going down when btc goes down . Why is that, is it just because of sentiment?

Back then (pre-Tether days), when btc pumps, every coin also pumps in USD value because the BTC value remains the same. Usually altcoins just price range when traders paly with btc. Only in major price movements do altcoins bleed (Increased btc volatility means trade and profit = traders sell altcoins to trade btc cuz better liquidity means larger positions).

But now Tether is widely used, arbitration can be achieved between exchanges. So what this means, traders can profit from the price difference in fiat values when trading alts. Now when btc goes up, alts go down in btc value but actually remains stable in fiat value.

Why do altcoins bleed when eth or btc goes down? Because a large section of whale traders just daytrade altcoins and they don't want to get stuck in an illiquid market when they believe btc or eth will go down further and most volume is in alt/btc or alt/eth pairs.

I probably not making sense, it's a complicated issue. TLDR - btc or eth whether they go up or down, altcoins bleed. The best time for alts is sideways movement for btc or eth. And altcoins go 4x - 10x average.

No one know that but if you have eth, ltc, bnb, neo, bcc and btc just hold that because i'm sure it will go really high in the future so better to invest in this 6.They already trusted coins in crypto we can see the price of this 6 have good volume in the market and even they drop still it will back to their current high price.
I see that you are a very optimistic person, because you still want a high price for coins. Apparently the market of crypto-currencies today does not have a very good time. But if you made investments, then you have to wait for a better time.

Once bitcoin price is recovered and the chart start moving in positive direction we should be sure of the recovering of other alt coins this is because in most cases when it comes to price in the crypto market bitcoin always take the lead position once an event happened in bitcoin you should be rest assured that same will happen to all other alt coins. Bitcoin is starting to recover now and also some of the alts. Its still early 2018 so there is still lots of thing to happen plus always wait until 4th quarter of the year to judge them alts. Alts always boom in this last part of the year as i can see for the past 3 years of alt. Eth (a major valued alt) also is a factor to consider because even if bitcoin is very high, and eth is not, alts are still slow in terms of recovery and growth.

i think as of now alt will stay in red because bitcoin price is gaining strength to soar  and perhaps altcoin will grow if bitcoin price goes down again.  So if were you just hold your bitcoin 'cause indeed altcoin has no potential to grow nowadays , and if you're looking for alt that has a potential like bitcoin then i suggest to buy ethereum cause both is increasing nowadays.

It will stop when bitcoin raise more higher than now, when it happen no one knows. You should hold bitcoin and not buying cheap altcoin because there's possibility bitcoin price will go down again. Besides that, altcoin always follow bitcoin and when get negative news from bitcoin, the price go down more deeper than now and you'll lost more value from your asset. Hold is the best option.

You should not be too worried about the price of bitcoin. The crypto market is always volatile and it is always a good time to invest. Being a good investor you have to be patient and have a lot of trading experience. You should learn a lot in postings related to trading experience.
I think you should wait and hold the bitcoin until its price is good to sell. You should read more articles related to bitcoin to find out why the cost of bitcoin is up and down erratically.

Bouncing back of bitcoin market will happen at any time. But no one can be assured that altcoins market also will be following the same. Because in the past we have seen many times bitcoin will keep on rising but alt coin will not. This may be the one of the prime reason why many people are suggesting to go investing only with bitcoins.

Be patient, Bitcoin price can’t be always rising. We will be seeing price rise after this correction and altcoin will follow.
Being patient can be really difficult for those that invested at the worst possible time in December especially if they are newbies, while those that are very experimented and invested long time ago do not have any kind of real problem with the current prices, I would not mind of the prices were this low for some more time since it will give me time to invest more.
But we do not have any other choice other than simply watching the market patiently. Because when you get into market at wrong time then you must need to face losses otherwise it you need to be more patient for holding those coins.

But I am very much sure market will bounce back so that all the coins will get profits to its investors. It may happen this month or in coming months but we need to wait till it happens
They do not have a choice if they want to get their money back but many do not have that kind of patience and have sold already their coins accepting their losses which is an even bigger mistake, buying at the wrong time is a mistake but it can be corrected by holding for long enough if you bought bitcoin but by selling now it is impossible to get their money back.

Bitcoin has been recovering a little...more than ethereum anyways. It will be nice just to see green across the board for more than a frigging day or two. This is really getting to be shitty and annoying. I mean seriously...I get that the market does corrections over the course of the year, but enough is enough. Bad news day after day in the crypto space, governments constantly bitching and regulating and threatening. Can we please get a fucking break already?

Alt coin will keep bleeding until bitcoin hit 15K+ and have approximately 45% domination over the market. And that to happen, people need to buy bitcoin more or need some institution money to pour in for few weeks. If not we might see more bottom price in coming weeks.

Bitcoin is in a recovery state now, it’s starting to get stable again, and for that, altcoin follows. We just have to wait for a few months time and all will be back in green and stop the bleeding. Keep holding your btc and your altcoins as well. It’s just a matter of time until they all recover.

Actually, when bitcoin drops to lessthan $20,000 it is still in the stage of recovery as it's getting lower up to $7,800 this year. In fact, many users have a huge amount of losses as they make a panic selling their share due to a downfall of bitcoin at the start of this year. I would say the bleeding if altcoins will stop in times of bitcoin will increase but still didn't increase too high as by hope by many here in crypto currency community.

This is not completely correct, some coins are going to recover most likely the ones at the top, the ones that are the most solid but there are many other coins that are never going to recover the crash of the market came at the worst possible time, you must remember that just a few coins have world wide recognition the rest of the coins are only known by a portion of the members of this forum so if many holders sell their coins and lose interest in these lesser known altcoins it is possible the coins will never recover.

As soon as the bitcoin market dust settles, altcoin price will recover. We all know that bitcoin bull or bear has a negative effect on altcoin because they either sell their alts to gain more income on bitcoin or to avoid further losses on altcoin.

Alts go down when BTC goes down, ALTs goes further down when BTC goes on a bull run  ;D Its a hard truth we all need to swallow.
But again, the real Alt season begins when BTC goes stable with less volatility and lesser fluctuation.
I am ready for more ALT bleeding in coming months and we expect a big BTC bull run, but then the ALT season will come. 8)

Let us see what will happen when the whole market is moving up again. My prediction is bitcoin will lose dominance gradually.

No one knows op. The market might continue to stay bearish for some more time before it begins rallying again which might happen sometime in August in my opinion. If good news comes in from all directions, the market could begin rallying for a long period of time again. At present, it is best to purchase the coins and tokens that you are interested in at low prices and don't look at the charts and markets too much.

Yup. The two coin is interrelated to each other. If bitcoin will rise again, there is a possibility that altcoin will also because the bitcoin affects the currency of altcoin. Maybe it will stop if the currency of bitcoin will be stable or increase again. But for now, you need to wait a little bit longer because the bitcoin is still in down.

News of Bitcoin ETF really make big impact to crypto market,  so when this Bitcoin ETF approved will be more new money come in to crypto market and altcoin will going up again.

It is not only Bitcoin's market valuewhich is falling but the majority of the market including altcoins. The bledding is continuous from the start of this year up until the present. And this time the exchange rate continued to fall further, the ETH rate has dropped to $ 250, and the big possibility in 2018 will be the sad year of the cryptocurrency market.

However when we traded our alt, we will convert it anyway so the monetary value of the coin will increase. From what I read, the btc pump will start by December 2018. When btc is up alts starts bleeding when btc goes low then also btc start bleeding. The only time alts look good when btc is stable. And the market behaviour now is not likely to last year's. But when btc goes up and alts starts bleeding better buy some alts. Cause when alts start growing , it gives always better profit than btc (it's my personal opinion). So better buy some alts but don't put all your money in one place. So level some btc for hold. Cause there maybe many coins tokens whatever btc is always the king of this whole system. Thank you . And do your own research before taking any decisions.

Alternative cryptocurrencies' decreasing will be restored soo and they will be on the top again. Their bleeding depends on BTC and from the cryptmarket at all, wait for the restoring.

There is no way for anyone to know when the bleeding will stop as it is practically impossible for anyone to predict where the price of the coins will go. Hold your bitcoins and the altcoins that you have and if you have the money to spare then it is a good idea for you to buy some more altcoins now that the prices are down and hold them for the long term.

Certainly it has already passed the support of 6000 USD and many say for altcoins HODL, maybe the best way for your altcoins assets.

It stops when the price of bitcoin gets better but for now, this is what we are stuck with, there is no taking it back. The coins are going to bleed for a long time after this. It is how it has always been, it is how it always is when the market is going into a bear. The only thing that can stop it is for there to be as much demand on the coins as there is supply.

We just need to see BTC moving upward fast and the rest will come.
Bitcoin is a big impact in the crypto world. the Bullrun of BTC may affect the price and demand of other coins.
This is why we called BTC as the father of all cryptos. The effect of BTC is like dominos to ALTS.

Altcoins are serious bleeding and we are all hoping that they stop cos we are actually tired of this bloodbath season, and we can't wait to see the end of it. There are a lot of theories that have been passed for why the altcoins are bleeding, but at this point, I really do not care anyone, I just want everything to stop, and return to normal again.

Nobody know when it will stop bleeding but it is expected that all is going well soon. For the meantime, it's better to take a bold move of buying more cryptos that you already have. With the price falling down, it is already a good quantity to be added in your current holdings. So don't worry much about altcoins bleeding, instead, take it as opportunity to invest in cheaper price now and earn big profit later.

Altcoin will not rise if bitcoin is still in a stable position. Bitcoin is always the benchmark price for altcoins. Altcoin will only rise if bitcoin has skyrocketed. One of the reasons why Altcoin will not go up is still quiet demand if the price of bitcoin is not high.

We does not know exactly what will really happen but we speculate cryptocurrencies future. Bleeding of crypto coins will never stop, because it is so volatile and sensitive anytime it will rise and will drop immediately. Even if it will rise but anytime it will drop again so bleeding will stop and that is the characteristic of a crypto currency. But all alts are following the trend of the bitcoin so possible if bitcoin rise, alts will rise also.

Altcoin still on dump and we can't forecast how long it will take ,in our way to avoid that make sure to have patience .There's always another option for us so I think it's better to buy more potential coin in altcoin. I believe there will be a good bounceback in this season that's why we must learned to wait even in a short or long time.

Yes i think so, because Playing investment is a tense thing, whether the coin that we invest will have a high selling price later.
While the selling price is low we should not panic keep calm so to overcome it would be wise if we invest some crypto that we think can give advantage, so if there is one crypto that fail there is still another crypto that will cover the losses of the coin and total funds that we invest not be useless.

No one really knows when will this situation be changed. The market at this moment is the total opposite of what happened last year wherein the market value are all at their peak. Needless to say but being patient is what we can all do and wait for recovery to happen. Some are expecting that it'll be on december but still, that's just prediction and assumption.
yeah exactly if you look at the chart, it seems to follow the pattern of last year, and I think we might see some increase towards this end of the year, and I think if ETF gets approved, it will turn things around

But this requires a very good promotion and advertising in all news channels. Also, states should create laws that regulate it and not prohibit it and eventually it will grow. Of all the countries in the world, you can count on the fingers of the country that promote the crypto currency and see in it the development of the economy.

Again, as all coins are related to BTC price, if BTC decreases, altcoin also decreases. But, if BTC is quite stable, altcoin will be green. Look at the current status.

We are still in a bear market and today Bitcoin is retracing so will altcoins bleed as well if we are going back into a bearish week of more shorting. The altcoins will only really grow once there is a big bull run and I don't see that happening any time soon. The Bears are in control of the markets along with a few pump and dump groups/whales, so until we get more institutional money coming in, we won't see them stop bleeding. If you noticed the marketcap is not going above 225 Billion dollars so there is no new money coming in. All we see is groups of whales going around raping each coin to squeeze out more and more profits form the holders.

There is no way for anyone to actually predict what will happen to the coins from here on out, if you hold then you have the best chances of making the most money out of your coins that you have. But we can stop it as soon as possible because if most of the people buy bitcoin and altcoin again they will see price pump.

First of all bitcoin need to do some recovery for himself and after alts will start to move positively. But alts can not do anything now. Btc hit 4k dollar so that is very bad situation  for all cryptomarket. There are too many panic sellers and people start to loosing their hopes about future of cryptocurrencies. We have to wait 1 or 2 years i guess.

Now it will be cleverer to wait out this correctional in Bitcoin, since the Altcoins have suffered very much

I think that the Altcoins have not yet reached their bottom and there will still be a fall. I really don’t know how strong it is. but I am sure that the market will still shake properly.
If bitcoin do and altcoin too. It's not so strong but consider about the volume and then most of people are still prefer to hold their money on the fiat form or stable crypto. The volume is ont decreasing a lot but the price did it. It looks so weird for me personally.

If btc will stop loosing value that will help altcoins surely. But firstly btc have to find bottom and after that altcoins will stop decreasing. You know the total marketcap of 1999 altcoin is not bigger than btc so everything related with btc for now .
If btc will continue until 1k dollar non stop alts will continue bleeding surely.

I think it will end before Christmas. and from previous experience, that Christmas was the best day for crypto because at that time many coins were experiencing pump.

Early you then wrote, it was clear from the indicator that we were very much overheated , and now is probably the only option to buy more coins

maybe like that, but it's very difficult to soar because the value of Crypto coins is still often up and down. seeing the current situation is very sad but I'm sure Crypto will rise again but don't know when it's clear. Hopefully by the end of this year Crypto will be able to rise steadily, expecting a very difficult bullrun so that it only rises by a few percent and if it is profitable it is a good thing.
