Title: Do you spend less bitcoin/alts now?
Post by: Don Pedro Dinero on June 13, 2018, 04:28:04 PM
I hold bitcoin and I was thinking if it was going up I would spend some, just a little bit, as a way to cash in my profits. But with the current market I just hold, I don’t want to spend my coins at such a cheap price because it will feel like a loss to me.

Do you feel the same way? What are your thoughts?

You are right. If anyone sell the bitcoin at this point, they will have loss in their hand.If you want money for emergency conditions, sell the bitcoin.Orelse you have to hold it.Even the price of altcoin is low,if you proceed to sell altcion. It will be the loss for you.

Yes, I've made some spending when the price was close to ATH because I though "well, now is the good time to do it, I'll still have a plenty of coins left", but nowadays I'm severely limiting all my spending, because if I'll spend coins now, in a few years I will be thinking how the things that I had bought effectively costed me 5-10 times more now.. I already experience this with purchases that I've made when Bitcoin was at $600, which is 10 times less than it is now. It's not too far fetched to think that in the next decade it will be 10 times higher than it is now.

I feel exactly the same way. I wait, when the market will again restore and consolidate its positions. I haven`t spent my bitcoin savings since the coin was trading at $10,000, so now I don`t want to change it to fiat money, because I think it's a huge loss. I want to wait until bitcoin grows back to at least $10,000. Only after that I can spend some part.

I still spend 'em, though I know it'd be better if I could just hold onto them.  Right now in life I'm not in a position financially not to spend or sell bitcoin--unfortunate, but true.

If you can afford to hold onto your bitcoin, I think that would be the wisest thing to do because I think eventually it'll rebound and creep back to its ATH and beyond.  That may take some time, but I believe it'll happen.  And I would not spend bitcoin just to spend it--I've never been a big proponent of it being a currency.  It's a much better speculative tool, and why spend something that could shoot to the moon when you can spend fiat money that will NEVER shoot to the moon?  My take is that you should always spend fiat before bitcoin.

Yes. I feel the same way.The price of bitcoin reduced to low value now .In case ,you will sell small amount of bitcoin. It will make you loss. The percentage of loss will vary based on the amount of selling Bitcoin. If you need need money, you can sell small amount of cryptocurrency.

There are two groups of people. Those who spent their BTC no matter the price and those who try to avoid using their bitcoins which isn't good. If the vast majority of Bitcoin users decided not to spend their BTC then hardly anyone would be interested in accepting Bitcoin as a payment. There would be people who would like to sell bitcoins (miners, investors) but it doesn't matterif there is no liquidity. Gold and silver is very popular in any country and can be easily exchanged to fiat in certain points.

I feel the same.
In fact, most of my crypto I earned in a free way, for paid work, so I don't care much about current price.
I can wait how long is necessary and sell for a good price :)
If I sell for to low price, I will feel that I lost money.

Likewise over here. I am holding everything and will only sell when all prices start to recover  :). Hopefully markets start to recover soon as we have enough corrections for this year already.

Not really, I still spend my Bitcoin the same way I did since the last few months. I always try my best to save some Bitcoins.  I know that some will say that I shouldn't sell when the prices are heading the opposite direction but that's just how it goes for me if the price is in a bad shape I have to deal with it. Good thing for me I manage to sell enough when the price was still above $7,000 few days ago.

I use and spend bitcoins because I need to use it for different purposes no matter what is the current price. After all, Bitcoin is a currency and is supposed to be used as it is. At the same time, I have like a "savings account" used to save some coins like we do with fiat and our saving bank account, in case there is a hard time or in case Bitcoin decides suddenly to reach the $20,000 again lol

Title: Re: Do you spend less bitcoin/alts now?

I try not to spend much because whenever the price seems to be low, there are higher amount of bitcoin or altcoins but when the price is lower there is a smaller amount of bitcoin or altcoin to be spend or used for transaction so I see it as a wastage whenever I spend larger amount of bitcoin or satoshi for a smaller price. Therefore, during dumps, I store more than spend.

I agree, it is now best to keep the capital in BTC. This is explained by the percentage of profits with increasing market capitalization of the cryptocurrency.

I agree that it feels like a loss when you spend coins at such low prices, but it's really not. There's no guarantee that the price will go up again, since only speculation can do that. What does that mean? Unpredictability... Meaning the coins you got could fall in price even more and you would then wish you had spent them right now.

It's for that reason, that I think it's better to spend your coins whenever you feel like you need some stuff. Unless you're really sure it'll go up again soon or if you really don't need the stuff you want to buy.
I'm not saying you should do this, but I do this and it works perfectly for me. I'm sometimes hesitant on which coins I should use to buy stuff, but usually it doesn't really matter all that much.

Just do what you believe in.

I still spend my btc. Sometimes I need to pay for some stuff online and the regular places I use have Bitcoin as a payment option so...why not? but it's just small and cheap stuff so it doesn't actually feel like a loss to me. I also sell some of my btc whenever I need some extra fiat asap. As for alts, I usually don't spend that much, I'd rather use btc.

I’m just holding my coins right because its a total loss for me if I’m going to spend it at a cheaper price but if I really needed the money I have no choice but to cash out some of my bitcoin. Hold as long as you could because this market will recover, be patient, don’t panic and have a profit in the future.

I am spending coins regardless of the price because after every purchase in Bitcoin, I make sure I use fiat to buy back the exact same amount in Bitcoin that I spent. That way I never regret spending coins, and it helps keeping this ecosystem active. This is actually the best way to act, and I'm sure more people would do so if they know the importance of replacing spent coins. Yes, it requires you to have fiat in order to buy back, but that's not really a problem for most people here. Solving certain problems only require a simple solution. People tend to make things more difficult for themselves than needed -- it's just a matter of logical thinking.

I spend less bitcoins than usual mostly because the price is a bit low. I don't see any point in spending bitcoins if the price is low because I can save a lot of money if I don't spend them now. It might be a good idea to buy altcoins because they are fairly cheap right now. It's an easy way to earn a lot of money if you wait a few months patiently.

You are thinking in a wrong way, investing a huge amount of coins today in the market with cheaper price will make you earn more profit because the market price will still go back to its normal price after a few months of waiting.

Good point, you are right, that is why I am also spending more in bitcoin rather than in alts, but if I found out that  there is a good alt then I am exploring it more if it will really a good one or not, by reading thoroughly of the whitepaper and investigating the team behind it.

Yes I also feel the same way. It is right that me or any other person if will spend bitcoin then they will get a little amount than the amount which they will get in the future then why not to spend our money in the future and to hold them for now. We have to wait for a little time and we will get a huge profit which not any other investment will give us.

The current price of bitcoin is not good to spend it for something else, instead im taking this chance to buy additional bitcoin and few altcoins for my holdings. I dont take dip negatively if you've been here in crypto for years now you will understand the flow of the market because its high volatile.

I set a target price for my bitcoin on when to take profit thus I will hold onto it until the right time comes even it takes months or years.

Obviously, as the price is down, everyone wanted to just HODL on it because you are not losing any money but simply holding it. Unless there's some kind of emergency in you end, cashing out your bitcoin is a no-no. So I just let my bitcoin sit on my wallet and don't do anything about it and hope that it will recover later.

So I don't understand why people really offload their bitcoin during this time and then complain later that they have lost so much. LOL. Holding won't hurt, and that is the best strategy that you can used during a market correction.

I am the kind of person who is trying everything before evaluating where I am good at, just like here in bitcoin too and alts too, I am trying things first where I am going to profit more before I am deciding what coin I am sticking at until the end, and that is bitcoin, eth and some alts.

Hold is the only way to save losses on the current situations we have today. I'm pretty sure others do the same thing,  and only weak hands might sell their coins. We cant stop them cause we never control them though, or they are totally in need of money at this time.

It is a good decision to not sell the coins right now and to wait for the good time.
The price of bitcoin will be better in the coming future and the value we own in bitcoin will reach to its higher. The speculators of bitcoin are still positive for the price of bitcoin and they are claiming that the time is not far away when the price of bitcoin will reach to $25000.

I've been holding since the days when bitcoin is around three digits so I'm in good place whether the market isn't so good, I'm only feeling that loss but literally I'm not. We have the same feeling that when we are selling at lower price, it's a loss for us.

I'm not in a position where there is much of important nature to buy with Bitcoin, which basically forces me to still conduct all my day to day transactions with fiat as basis.

I will start spending my coins once there are local merchants accepting Bitcoin, and till that time there is nothing to use other than fiat. On the other hand, there is not much to rush for since fiat is doing well enough.

People can say all they want, but it's impossible to have crypto compete with the convenience and usability of fiat, and it will take a lot to change that. Centralized platforms scale easier and faster than decentralized ones.

I hope that Lightning Network will close that massive gap.

I'm feeling the same way: I wanted to cash out a bit of ETH a couple of weeks ago, but then it suddenly bumped from $700 to $550.
I thought "Okay, I'm ready to lose those 50-100 bucks, but why should I present my hard-earned money to somebody?"
So yes, the best strategy now is to hold.

Any time I have a pressing need  I do sell my bitcoin or alternative coin. There was a day I wanted to sell but didn't sell because the market was red, the next day it becomes worst. So stop looking at the market in terms of red or green when I'm ready to sell.

Off course cant even think about spending a satoshi also! This market is too down the line from initial prices and thus it makes no sense at all if we sell them right now. No one will be in the profits at this point as I know last time when we had dip of bitcoin around 7K or 6.5K then most of the people made their buy in the vision that they will get huge profits now as bitcoin will get into another bull run one more time. However nothing like that happened as bitcoin failed at 7.5K USD itself and went all the way down to current rates. This is currently worst stage of bitcoin and investors and everyone might be holding for right time.

The price is very low. You need more Bitcoin for same value in your currency as compared to 6 months ago.
I will hold my bitcoin and altcoin for 6 months more rather than selling at this point.

Definitely right. There will come a time that the current price will be 5 or 10 times in the next years or decade. So we should at least save our coins and hold them patiently so we can gain a very big amount of profit when that time comes. If you still have fiat in your pocket, then spend less on your crypto coins.

,absolutely right. at the current state of the market, it is not wise to sell immediately because you lack of patience or you see the bloody market. just like what you said, if you have still cash or fiats in yout pockets better to use it rather than selling your alts and bitcoin in exchange of fiats.

Selling your bitcoin now is not advisable and you may regret it in future as the market is showing red signals.  A wise investor will buy now instead of selling and those that can buy when others are selling are ban to make good profits when people become greedy!

Long-term investors will not sell their bitcoins at this time.

We all believe the market will go up again, so don't sell at low prices. If you have spare money now is the best time to buy.

I've already limited my bitcoin spending to emergency puposes only as I wait for another possible price rise in the coming weeks. The best option for now is hodling while waiting for the cryptocurrency uptrend. Selling it this time is not good and this might lead you to further losses. Bitcoin will recover later but it will take time because there are still no positive events to boost its price.

We have mutual feeling and I really feel the same. This can be the effect that when you know that bitcoin's price will rise soon but you have to sell and spend it for something that you have to makes you feel that way.

As much as possible we don't want to sell it until we are finally satisfied with the price position of bitcoin. And you know what's happening to me? when I feel that the price is totally at the peak, I'm selling but afterwards the price goes higher so that experience makes me don't want to spend.

Many people who have the same mind, bitcoin will have a high price in the next few years or later this year, so they use a long-term investment to overcome it.

Selling bitcoin when the price decreases are the wrong way to do, a small loss will make you an addict to other small losses so you do not realize the number of losses if added.

I guess this always happens to newcomers, they will fell do not matter if they suffer a slight loss.

In a current market situation, i rather hodl my bitcoin and altcoins and to add some everytime i got spare money than to cash out some. Market is still in red and spending bitcoin and altcoins is a big loss and also will bring the market to be in the same situation. I maybe not a bigtime investor but being one of those who patiently wait and hold can help the block market a little. So hopefully, others will do the same.

I do understood the veracity of one person financial struggle,, but it doesn’t mean that if they do it in daily basis they’re right.. We can’t blame such action if its for basic needs and survival instinct,, but if it isn’t then they’re pathetic..

Let freedom dictates our future,, but do it beneficial to you not to the whales.. Selling at low price just put money on the whales account..

I do not want to spend bitcoin. Because I believe that bitcoin will grow in value in the future. Whenever, bitcoin decreases or increases, I always hold it. At times, I only spend bitcoin through a few new altcoin and ETH. If you spend bitcoin at this point, it's really wasted. So holding it is the best way to wait for the outbreak later. The bitcoin value will move faster in the future.

Yah, i dont want to spend the crypto currencies i have. Either i do not want to cash out or do anything with it. I am looking for more money to invest now into as many altcoins i wish to invest as every coin is in red. The more coins we collect now, more profit we can ensure of when the price goes up. I love to choose coins with price less than $10. This would be best to invest in many good coins.

I don't want to spend either any of my altcoins or bitcoin because I don't want to regret about spending it when the market recovers again. The market is currently in red so we must just hodl our coins because selling or spending these days would just result to big losses.

Yes you are correct if you sell now its a great loss to you. Because the price of bitcoin and other altcoins are very low now. We can use this time to buy more bitcoins and altcoins not to sell. This is not the right time to sell just hold the coin with patience.  Sure the market will recover, if you want you can divide your funds and invest in half of on bitcoin and half of on altcoin. This will be able to manage the loss. Hope the market will recover soon.

I spend plenty still. By this point I have more value in crypto than my local currency despite the price falls. As long as whatever I want or need is a minor amount of what I have then I'll go for it. I wouldn't spend it on tat though, just stuff that makes my life better.

There's no point in holding off a couple of years if your life needs improving now. There'll always be regrets about spending if you choose to allow yourself to regret it.

I'm using Bitcoin more than ever to transact, especially with how the circle I do business with has opened itself up for Bitcoin. Admittedly, the coins are mostly converted to fiat through Coinbase later on, but that's not my problem since people are free to do what they want. I am already happy to see more acceptance taking place, where if the price becomes a bit more stable in the forthcoming years, people won't directly have to convert their coins anymore.

The main reason for me to spend more in recent times is that it allows me to legally avoid paying tax over my virtual gains. The significant increase in value also means a significant increase in due taxes, which is what I try to avoid as much as possible.

Honestly, I do not care about the price. I earned most of my bitcoin or altcoins trough signature campaign and have not invested a penny on it. So, that is why whenever I need money to pay my bills I do not hesitate to convert some. I am aware of the potential of bitcoin and cryptocurrency but we all have a lofe to live and bills to pay.

I've been holding since the days when bitcoin is around three digits so I'm in good place whether the market isn't so good, I'm only feeling that loss but literally I'm not. We have the same feeling that when we are selling at lower price, it's a loss for us.
Treating ourselves once in a while really would not hurt but one way or the other; it is always that hard when you realize the potential of what you are spending at the current low price would be later on.

For someone like me who is an I.T freelancer, I get most of my pay in this space and since it is a huge one, I pay myself 50% and hold the remaining, which is good enough for me, no matter the value at the time I am selling anyway, and sometimes when I have fiat to even buy back way lower when it is oversold, I don't waste the opportunity.

Yeah that is true! Current period is very dangerous if you sell anything for getting the fiat currency or any other currency really. This is bad because we are already in the bottom and thus we will loose big chunks of the profits if we sell. For crypto currencies, 1 btc is 1 btc but when we go and trade this for the USD (example) then we will receive equivalent amount to todays rate. If after few months the rate increased lets say double to the current one then it code be hurting one! So better keep it for the sake of emotional satisfaction as well as real gains!

As compared to the price last 2017, it makes you feel like a loss when you sell at the current period or price since it’s lower by more than 60% but in reality it’s not a complete loss. It just feels like one since you know that it has the potential to have a higher price, and it would be better if we hold it first and wait for the wrong time. Knowing that btc has the potential to shoot to the moon, it always feels wrong to spend it at all since it’s an opportunity cost.

You should invest today while the prices are decreasing because in this way we can earn more profit when the market prices are increasing again, that is the reason why traders in the market are earning a huge amount of profit, its because of the volatility.

Yes, this is a wise decision. Now that bitcoin and all other crypto currencies have fallen in price, selling them so cheaply is not worth it at all, it will not be reasonable and at a loss. When the crypto currency market rises, our coins and tokens will also rise in price and then they can be sold several times, or even tens times more expensive. Of course, if there is an extreme need for certain expenses, there is nowhere to go. However, while it is necessary to spend the minimum amount of crypto currency.

For each of my assets I wait for a certain price, below which I will not sell. When this price is reached, I will set the stop loss and will move it up. In the meantime I'm watching the market.

I use as much as I need, nothing has changed. Of course I would like that the price is higher but as long as I have continuous bitcoin income is fine.
And I'm trying not to sell bitcoins or exchange it to fiat but to make payment s directly whenever I can, thus the loss is lower. But there is not use in just holding bitcoin endlessly without spending it for something concrete.

I dont have much on my profit so i even spend less or nothing at all. We are all aware that the market is bloody low now and spending is quite contradictory to the situation. We should be more on buying or holding rather to withraw or sell it on a low price. Its best to stay it in there for a little bit longer.
Hopefully others will realize and listen to the situation we have. Though it won't be like these for long but at least we do something not to bring market into worse. And we also knew that isn't be like these for long,  it will normalized once negatives news came over.

There are two ways to approach this topic and the answer totally depends on one thing and one thing only : Whether you are buying things in coins or in fiat ?
If you are buying things in coins then the prices won't be changing and whether a coin is worth 1$ or 100$ it's the same price in crypto .
If you are buying things in fiat and will be having to cash out some of your coins or trade them with fiat in order to satisfy your needs then i'll certainly be spending less because the same amount of coins will be returning much more money if i do manage to hold it for a potential future bull trend .

Yeah when bitcoin prices drop off of course when you want to shop using bitcoin. you have to pay more / more expensive than before. because prices are declining. but some users here may use bitcoins for their primary earnings. so maybe low price happen they will keep spending because their needs must be paid.

I am not in very much favor of spending of any of the crypto coin especially when it comes to that of the bitcoin. It is because spending of the bitcoins will only result in wastage of money and that it is much better not to do any such thing as the market is quite low for now and that saving is something which can help you in having more profit in the coming days.

Right if someone can afford to hold then hold your btc we may never know price next could increase. I just spend less for now since the value is not okay were still in the bearish trends. Therefore, someone can spend theirs so depends on how they can manage their assets.

Spending bitcoin is very expensive when the market price is low so it is not really advisable to use it at times like this. If you are a thrifty person you will deeply feel the importance of bitcoin right now especially if it is the only thing you have as an option to be used for paying expenses, buying needs and etc.

I have altcoins in my wallet but it is also not a good time for these to be sold, the price are really on dip and as much as I want to buy something for myself and my family, I would rather hold for now.

Yeah it's really not a good time to spend your Bitcoins when the price is that low, especially if you have bought them as an investment.
That said, I still think it's good to make smaller purchases with Bitcoin, just to support the businesses that accept it.

It's different for me with altcoins though, those I still spend on a regular basis.
Mostly because I alway need to convert my Steem to fiat anyway, so I'd rather spend it directly.

Yes, I'm controlling my self to sell my bitcoin and alts because the best thing I can in this situation is to hold it because I know it will generate a lot of profit again and If I have some extra money I used this chance to buy some part of bitcoin.

Everyone says they don't sell their bitcoin. I do too. But there is no shortage of offers in the market. Strange huh? Someone's selling their supplies.  Maybe we should wait until they sell everything. Today, the daily sales of CEX io decreased to 446 btc. This is 5 times less than usual. Do you think it's good or bad? No one wants to buy or sell bitcoins?

If you sell your bitcoin and altcoins with the cheap price you will lose some of your money if you bought your coins with high price and sell it is not a good Idea. But your decision is good  to do all of traders follow to hold their coins to pump the price.

Instead of selling bitcoin and altcoin you must buy more coins to earn more money. Losing money is not good for you.

When it was downtrend I was purchase coin that I know will have a good value and I hold it until the market would back into normal. I never spend my coin too if I loose profit on it but before purchasing coin make sure that you have another money to spent when the price is on the downtrend so that you are not going to think what will happen you don't have money and sometimes it cause suicide.

So let's just be hopeful that the price market will finally start to increase so we can see our investments growing as time goes by.But since crypto coins are too much volatile,we all have to be patient particularly with the current situation that the market is still bloody.I suggest to hold still our coins so we will not make regrets if time comes that prices are already ×10 compared today.

At the current situation, it is hard to spend cryptocurrencies, either bitcoins or alts. We were too confident before that our earned cryptos are high and then the sudden drop happened. It is quite regretful not selling before the drop below 15k USD happened.
Well, if people are really in need to spend their coins, then of course it is their decision but I think it is hard to get cryptos the next time they will be wanting to. Not unless they sell now and buy when it drops less than 5k USD. That would be less stressful I guess.
For sure those who can still spend some money in their pockets will definitely hold until it rise again.

Honestly, I haven't sold any coins for a month now.

Yup dude, I feel the same way also but in my case we're different. Though I want to remain hodling, I still cannot because I need to fulfill my daily necessities. I'm now on my OJT and I'm not yet getting support coming from my companions so I have to cash out some of my money every time I needed. I know that this is not the proper time for dumping but I don't have any choice. Well, it's alright (despite the losses I get) as long as my money will go to things that are good and has a purpose.

Those who have spent their BTCs do not care about prices and those who try to avoid using their bitcoin are not good. If most Bitcoin users decide not to spend their BTC, then almost no one is interested in receiving Bitcoin as payment. There will be people who want to sell bitcoin (miners, investors) but it does not matter if there is no liquidity. Gold and silver are very popular in m state

Actually, I am in need of money. Therefore, I do not care whether the price is low or not. Sometimes, you need to ignore something in order to lighten up something more important. But unfortunately, I would have wanted to hold all of my coins because I do believe that if I do, i will gain a big profit. It is a matter of patience if you ask me. But for now, I cannot manage to do so with these circumstances. So yes, I hold 20% and spend 80%.

Yah. I have not even changed bitcoin or altcoin into my local currency for any of my expenses. I am holding it patiently and trying to gather as many altcoins as i can with the cheap price support. I am sure this would yield me a good profit down the line in December 2018.

I try to hold as long as I can. For now that the market is red, i TRY to buy but not buy a lot as my investments are all in bitcoin. Really hoping that we can experience the same pump as last year of December 2017. But come to think of it, red market just means to buy more.
actually we can sell, but for people who panic only. because the price decreases automatically we get a loss rather than a big profit. the red price is also very worrying for the bitcoiners.
Selling bitcoin right now will surely decrease the price of bitcoin in the market so it is time to hold for us not to sell, those who sell will call panic sellers which is not good sign for all bitcoin users, a rotten fish spoils the whole lake so I think it is not good sell bitcoin now price is not sold worthy but it holding time, I am sure spending bitcoin stop being done as we want high price for our better future now.

Buying alts now is really a good strategy that we can do to make us profitable than buying bitcoin because investing in bitcoin today is very risky and people already lost their money due to continuous falling of the crypto market.

I think I've experienced this with the purchase I made when Bitcoin was $ 600, which is 10 times smaller than it is now. Not too far away to think that in the next decade it will be 10 times higher than it is now.
I've spent some time when the price is close to ATH because I think "well, now is the right time to do it, I still have a lot of coins left," but right now I'm severely limiting all my expenses, because if I'm going to spend coins now, in a few years I would think how the things I have purchased effectively cost me 5-10 times more now.

A pretty good strategy for those who are smart enough to always take the opportunity. So many people rather than using the opportunity to stash up now are busy complaining on how the market is so down and then when the market starts rising hugely, they simply join FOMO instead and then start complaining all over again when the market starts dropping.

Who would be doing the same thing and expecting different result and instead of them considering the opposite, they just get stuck with what they foolishly know how to do best. All those people who are believing into the brighter future of bitcoins, will not spend any bitcoins right now even bitcoin is trading below half of its all time peak price levels.

That's understandable, but doesn't have to be a problem. In case you are spending 0.05BTC for example, you have to make sure you buy that amount back directly.

It directly translates into a situation where you will no longer regret having spent coins, and the effect of payment gateways dumping their coins on the market will be nullified. It basically means that you contribute to a circle that combats the market to suffer from an excess of payment dumps. In other words, there is absolutely no need to limit yourself when you can perfectly keep spending your coins.

I understand that in some cases it's not as easy to buy back your coins, but overall the amounts that people spend are on the lower side, which makes it easier to buy it back.

I feel the same, if i dont need money i do not sell any of my holdings, selling seems your lossing money when the market become healthy. Just keep your funds in wallet and wait a little bit longer. Jusy imagine how will be it back if you hold. Price will rise for sure but nothing specifuc time for that. Until i dont have emergency need money i will wait and buy buy more cryto coin. This is an opportunity not disaster. Dump day is also a good day just like pump day. Both you can do a great trades. When pump jusy sell when dump just buy

Yeah, i agree with your opinion. Selling your asset in the red day time like this kinda same as losing some of your amount of asset in the beginning. If there are red day like this, i assume this as SALE day. Not to spend your alts or bitcoin but to gain some more of the coin for near future green day.

I honestly do not have the funds to buy any of the coins but yes,I do agree that in the current condition of the market today, selling whichever seems like a loss and holding is much more favorable. I agree to your strategy to get profits from altcoins to invest on bitcoin as the latter is much more stable and has more potential. Someday I hope to the game but for now I will try to acquire more knowledge.

well, I'm thinking more about holding back the assets I have for now. if pressed, I will use it a little. I think almost everyone in this group is doing the same thing. we know, that this is not the time to spend a lot of our crypto assets.

If you had your bitcoins at $800ish probably back in early 2017, then the price today is not a big deal. Holding bitcoins when you need to spend on something kills the real purpose of it.

This time as Bitcoin price goes down, it is great time to invest more because you are able to buy more due to its value now, and the best strategy after investing is the willingness to wait, wait and wait for tou to earn a lot later on especially when the coin recovers.

Yes I feel the same way, I really wanted to trade in my bitcoin but when I see that everything in the market is red...I decide not to, I better hold it and wait for the price to go up so that when I sell it, it would be big amount and so I can spend it with the things I want.

This is definitely not the time to sell your coins. The market is falling and cashing out for the minimum value of coins that can bring 10 or 100-1000 times more is meaningless! Wait and have patience!

With the present market price value of almost all ALT coins are on the ups and down, i would hold until the market price value of my coin goes up a bit and then i can decide if spend them all or not. Market is Volatile, market price value can goes up and goes down at any given time then recovered, stabilized to a better market value. i would follow the simple principle in trading "Buy low and Sell high".

I am in the same boat. I was actually hoping to cash out some crypto and enjoy the profits, but sadly, the huge bear market has stopped me from doing so. Cashing out crypto at this point in time seems really unwise since we are at all time lows. Imagine how you would feel if tomorrow crypto markets suddenly bounce back. Ouch.

I would rather be safe and bet on the long term value of crypto for now. The market outlook and everything else seems bullish in the long-term anyway.

For now it is not really a nice option and a bad move to do if you are in a pinch right now. It seems to me that it is very difficult to guess which ICO will be promising in such a period. Even reliable projects are now under pressure and I am not sure that everyone will survive these difficult times. It seems to me that now the most reasonable strategy will be holding. I guess no one would sincerely converted their bitcoin or sell their altcoins nowadays due to the very low value of cryptocurrencies. Almost 2 months ago, i badly need a cash so i have no other choice but to convert some of my bitcoins into fiat even if it breaks my heart. And then a month later, i could say that i should be thankful because the price just keep on falling nowadays.

I feel the same way, if I were you I'll do the same too. I'll hold my coin till there's good price where I can sell it so I can make a profit. I can say that it's unfair if you're just starting again and you'll lose your coin that easily without making a profit. I agree that you should hold your coin for now, because the market's performance is not that good.

Yep, it’s not a good idea if we sell our bitcoin with low price now. Yep, often most of us cash bitcoin out when they really need and I think it’s such suitable choice. Buying with low price and selling with high price is a major strategy in this market. Therefore, we’re better off buying as many bitcoin or altcoins as possible when the market is having a drop like this. Then afterwards holding it till the price get recovered, we probably reap a huge fruits.

I don't want to have any losses this early so no matter how tempted I am, I am still trying not to spend my earnings. Generally I spend less bitcoin this year. The first of all its price raised since I joined and if two years ago I simply cashed out 0,1-0,5 Btc to get couple of hundreds of dollars, now I need much smaller number of mBTC to get the same money for my desperate costs. The other thing is the same like the OP's, it's too pity to me to cash out now when I know that one moment the price for bitcoin was like super high and I would like to see it again to cash out.

With the price of bitcoin in the past is constantly changing and is constantly adjusting, I always spend small capital to invest and avoid all in. You can see that the market is fluctuating continuously and it is difficult to predict, bitcoin price after falling to $ 6400 then the current time has recovered to $ 6700 level and I think the bitcoin price will be able to continue. increase and this is the opportunity for us to trade altcoin.

I will just sell my coins in case of emergencies or if i need money for my actual spending but if i don"t then better not to sell it specially today that all of my coins are much cheaper to sell that it will cost me a huge quantity just to meet a desired fiat amount for spending. So better than to sell my coins i rather to borrow fiat cash to my friends and relatives then i will pay them it if the market will become stable again. In this way i could avoid spending my precious coins at cheapest price.

I see most replies say they don’t spend any or they spend the same as before, but in this case because they need the money. So, I guess for spending it is more important the personal situation rather than the current market, which is also important to some extent.

Also, when I opened the post I was thinking more of spending your coins directly, not turning them into fiat in order to spend them, but that’s what most people seem to be doing, which shows we are still behind in adoption and development.

Thanks for your replies.
