Big names in crypto predict that bitcoin will go $50k end of this year and they were 50% correct because anything can happen of crypto right? but for me, if bitcoin ETF will be approved I'm sure that ETF Will Push Bitcoin price to $50,000, let's wait 60 days starting today and go back to this thread in September or October and let's see  ;)

"big people" in crypto say insane things to pump the prices. This is a common thing in business, people have incentives. Anyone predicting bitcoin to go to 50k is insane. Yeah, it could reach that someday, but no one knows right now with the current market. It is just useless guessing, but as time goes on and it becomes more adoptive it will seem more legitimate to call it out. Right now it is people just talking out of their ass, as new information comes out you can reevaluate. If the market can pick up then it will be more reasonable to call $50k.

there were lots of news regarding bitcoin price, we dont know what news we will believed in, some says bitcoin will go 6k below and it will die some says it will pump so maybe it is better for us to go with the flow because we dont have control to the price.

but what if the opposite happens and the ETF is rejected? is there still a chance bitcoin can reach $50k?
I am confused, because some people are happy when bitcoin falls and hopes to fall more from the moment. but there are also some people who think that bitcoin can reach ATH and can even exceed it.

Okay let's see and i guess it will not happen after ETF. As far as i know that even the total supply of bitcoin will have reached 21 million bitcoins in the circulation and it will not make the price of bitcoin more than 50k. It doesn't even the old ATH and that's the fact,

I think that ETF is a very small part of the game only. Moreover, I don't think that the proposal by Van Eck and SolidX Partners will be approved by SEC to list a and trade bitcoin shares backed by them. It's great if BTC can sit at $50k by the end of this year, but it depends on many factors and ETF is just a small part of them.

This is a very optimistic assessment of the future bitcoin price.
Just after the last few weeks, i find it hard to believe in it.

Talk about optimism, I really would like that to happen but as far as I'm concern it is out of bound in a price speculation because usually when predicting bitcoin value you'll go for triple and decide of which month it will happen but since you go over a 9x the current price I doubt that your speculation would be true, I know it is a possibility but not this year I really don't think it can happen.

I don't think this's gonna happen very soon like the end of this year, but as I've learned everything is possible in this market :)

You are too optimistic. This year is a red year after the growth of last year. It will need a lot more time to attract more investors.

Interesting thread to predict the value of BTC to $50k which is really very hard to accomplish. But my guess right now is that it will not reach on that even in the few years since the market is very unstable now and need more actions to gain confidence for the investors.

the volatility that made us cheer certain cryptos is now making us boo some while clinging to blind optimism for others.
And like someone said before, there's not an unbiased opinion/speculation/fud in crypto. Everybody have their own personal agenda and when you boil it to to profits, you start to understand the lengths many will go to sell high and buy low

I would lower my expectations a little bit, I think 50k sounds like "too much". The approval of ETF would definitely make the price skyrocket in no time thanks to massive influx of capital from investors who will feel a lot more confident to invest in the crypto market, this could possibly trigger a new FOMO wave, if there's enough momentum then we could see a massive spike in the price...but I hardly doubt we'll see 50k, IMO we would need something more see such price target.

Maybe not quite $50k, but I certainly can see around $20k again. Fear of missing out is an amazing thing. I've seen it take total crap coins and pump the price up to outrageous prices just because hype was being built up around it. That being said, I wouldn't rule $50k out either.

You are too big optimistic I would like it to be so but it's really hard to achieve. We have too small time for this, bitcoin can not increase own price as fast as you predict, but if it achieve 50% from this what you predicting, it will be very good news

Well, firstly no one can know how much bitcoin will cost, even famous personalities in cryptography. Secondly, the crypto market is so unpredictable that in six months, bitcoin can cost 50,000, and 500 can.

Can anyone let me know what is ETF? I don't know anything about it and why it has so big effect on BTC price like that? IMO, I think price of BTC is almost controlled by the whales whom are holding large amount of BTC available on cryptocurrency market at the moment

You are an active person, but the price of bitcoin is still unknown at the end of this year. No one can guarantee how much it will rise. It may not rise so much this year. The chance may be next year.

ETF is also known as "exchange-traded fund", that tracks an index, a commodity, bonds, or a basket of assets like an index fund. Unlike mutual funds, an ETF trades like a common stock on a stock exchange. Imagine wall street will bring Trillions of dollars into crypto if ETF is approved  8)

I do not believe bitcoin will gt to this value by the end of this year as the price is very outrageous and considering the current situation of the crypto market. Though bitcoin has the potentials to reach this value but it cannot be this year.

when we can all support by way of hold maybe it can happen, but sometimes a lot of hurry to sell it before looking for information and positive trand on the market.

There is no doubt that bitcoin will recover greatly, surpassing expectations but as to 50k within the year sounds a bit outrageous. Bitcoin has great prospects and will continue to determine the crypto market, proving that the naysayers are wrong after all.

There are no prerequisites for increasing the price.It's got to be something really cool.Or some state will completely switch to the use of cryptocurrency.Then it will be the price.But I think this will not happen

Everything is possible. As we see from the history, bitcoin can quickly fall down from high marks and quickly go up from low marks. Time will tell what will happen to the price. We, ordinary traders can only look at the situation that is now, and make predictions for what will be in 2 or 6 months is absolutely wrong. Yes these are the speculations, and some people over-speculate. This value of $50000 is an over speculated value not backed by any type of real world data and no previous crypto record. The value which the experts speculate is backed by the real market data after doing its comparative analysis with the data available in the past years. That is what a real speculation sounds and they expect it to cross the $20000 value towards the end of the year.

I don't think so, ETF might have such effect but it can't drive bitcoin to $50k in the short term also big players don't want to make weak hands rich.

Of course this will not give such an effect at all for any time. To price has risen to this level, it is necessary that many want to buy and hold bitcoin and previously this price will not be such.

i can see how ETFs can be one of the most expected hypes of this year and how its approval can lead to a rally where price rises a lot but i can not honestly see a new ATH and not just a small rise from the last but a huge one which is 1.5 times more than the previous one and 7.5 times the current price.
in other words you are predicting a 7.5x rise (nearly 650% rise) in less than 5 months. even in bitcoin that is impossible to happen not to mention this soon after the previous rally.

my prediction is that best case scenario we can see $12k-$14k levels back again by the end of this year.

Bitcoin can be $50.000 but it needs to reach $7000 first, it is like a dead fish now not bullish at all. I doubt it can reach even $10K this year.

I do not think that falling to the level of 5k, why it will grow to the level of 7k. I think that in order for the price to rise to a level of 10k, it takes a lot of time and maybe a half a year...

The thing is, in 2017, the SEC rejected 2 times Bitcoin ETFs, while earlier in 2018, several firms withdrew ETF requests when the SEC asked if the proposed ETFs could comply with different rules. Generally there a lot of obstacles.

I really pray this should happen as this will be a recompense to those that have been holding bitcoin since January and could not dump it the way other traders was dumping it.  ETF may be approved this time around and I am holding my coins as if that happens many great investors will be looking for bitcoin.

50k is easy, but i think not by the end of 2018. maybe by the end of 2019

$50000 is very high and I doubt if bitcoin will ever get to this point this year because this is quiet high and considering the present price due to the bear, even if bitcoin rise, it will not get to this price this year.

You have point, me myself would never expect Bitcoin to reach this high this year specially of what we experience this past months, as long as Bitcoin won't go down to 5000 this months and continue to grow then I am contented.

Don't expect too much bout the price of BTC reaching $50k by end of year or it would only disappoint you if price fails to increase because of ETFs. What's important when making an investment with crypto is the adaption of the masses and realization of the importance of cryptocurrency. Recorded last year there were too many hopefuls about the push and approval of ETF but it was rejected.

I don't want to get hurt if this didn't get approved again this year. News of adoptions are better than this like the sudden jump that drove bitcoin pushed to a sudden increase today.

Big people in the world cryptocurrency, as in the financial world in general, say this in order to influence the price. A typical way of manipulating the market. I strongly doubt the price of $ 50,000, I think that no more than 15,000.

Yes the crypto world does have a lot of room for possibilities however I dont think it will reach $50k by the end of this year. The charts trend now are downtrending and I dont see it increasing to that amount yet. But I do hope these experts are sayong the truth too because if they are then a lot of people would be happy when Christmas day comes.

Correct, there was a lot of talk, hype and speculation about last years ETF approval application
and when it was rejected bitcoin still grew eventhough at the time some peoples hopes and
dreams were crushed.

It isn't much clear yet whether ETF is going live or not in August. But even if it does, I doubt the price is going to shoot till $50k. It is way too optimistic and you need almost a trillion + marketcap to justify that which isn't going to happen anytime soon. if possible price could hit $30k level but going above is a bit unrealistic right now. ETF is definitely going to give boost to the price though.

I will not rule out such a scenario. It is not difficult for me to imagine that Bitcoin will rise to such a price.

Sorry to say, Those bitcoin predictioners is a pure lier. They announced a bullshit prediction, Bitcoin will hit 50K USD! Are they kidding? Bitcoin can't even surpass 15K USD in this year, and we haven't seen yet bitcoin to overcome 10K USD over 5 months gone already, I don't know why Many people go for those predictions and after they go, Price pump happens and predictioners sell their coin. And, again price dumps and those predictioners again start buying. ETF can't make Bitcoin 50K USD. Mark my words mate.

Buy rumor and sell for the news and it could be the main reason why bitcoin gets a little bump to the 8k rate and i could say that you must understand that the bitcoin looks very stable right now. It has gotten a little recovery and this will be continue until the next month and i could say that people waiting to buy the more rumor about that.

While everyone will surely rejoice if Bitcoin price hits $50,000 USD this year, we still need to accept the fact that there's a lot of factors that affects BTC price. If history repeats it self it is possible to hit $50,000 USD, what happened last year may not happen this year because of different factors. There maybe new issues that can surface anytime. Sites that will be hacked that can also affect the price of BTC.

I doubt that there will be such a strong growth. Moreover, I hope that there will not be. Because, we are falling down the 7th month, from 20,000 $, the market is almost always in a depressed state. The price of Bitcoin is not a problem, the only problem is the ETF, whenever the ETF will not approve, we can expect a huge dump. But when the ETF will approve, we can expect a huge pump. But I believe that the manipulation of Bitcoin is still there that's why the ETF got postponed.

I think this is not news but most like people opinion, i will say this is the dinamic of bitcoin price so it can be goes down or up but of course we hope its going to be bullish again. But as true supporter i will always believe that cryptocurrency in general will find out the way to be bullish again.

I don't think ETF will push the price to $50k or so. I think at max it'll take BTC to $11-12k which will be a huge gain. But now as ETF decisions have shifted to 30th sept, every1 needs to wait for 2 more months to see what they're deciding on. I don't think they'll approve it in the nearby future. US are still not sure about the regulations in crypto and that's why can't allow ETF to come in place.

I do not think that will happen. With the economy going downhill, the trade becomes stagnant between the US and China, and Crypto's pumping will not be possible this year.

This is impossible, ETF can really affect the cryptocurrency, but its influence is limited and will not cause such a high impact.

Well, it's too high in my opinion. I think, it can be ATH somewhere between like 25K-30k$ at the end of the year.

The question still remains if the ETF will be approved. I think this speculations has affected the market seriously and I think it could have been better if the issues of ETF did not come up at this bearish market time.  We are to hope for another date and it is not approve then expect the market to fall further.

This is an unlikely development. You need to be more careful and count on the price of 8000-10000 dollars.

I don't sure that ETF is so important. I think Bakkt will play more for cryptocurrencies adoption and popularity. But all people see ETF and hype with it only. As I read SEC have legal possibilities to postpone own decision till Jan '19. And they will do it. That's why I don't worry about dump today

Perhaps you're not aware of the news that a study conducted by University of Texas professor suggests Tether (USDT) has been used to manipulate bitcoin's price last year. There is so much FUD, bans and regulation attempts that BTC and others will NEVER recover to the highs of 2017. The good days are firmly behind us and it's all downhill from here. Why HODL if you're going to lose another 5-10% tomorrow? ETH is in freefall due to its recently announced serious security issues that cannot be fixed. ETH will die within a month along with everything else run on that slow, unreliable ETH blockchain.

I don't agree with your point of view. I think that ETF is just a gimmick. It is not really coming. Of course, when the bull market comes, it can be said that the ETF has passed. It's really very hard to predict how much exactly will bitcoin cost at the end of this year. But base on history, bitcoin usually pumps during the last quarter of the year. I think if this is going to happen, I am sure that many people will buy bitcoin as much as they can because they will make a big profit at the end of this year. and I will do the same things because I also want to make a profit too. Now that the ETF proposals was rejected once again then i think it is now impossible for the Bitcoin price to reach $50,000 or people will going to be disappointed making the price to drop below $6,000 again? If any of them are positive then I think we can head at least back to the ATH of 20k. Of course the $50,000 is an over estimation for the value of Bitcoin in this year and is not going to happen. Yeah it is too much but since people are free to express what they want to happen then we see predictions like this, the only problem I have with such predictions is that it can lead you to the wrong path and you may believe that your predictions are correct when most people that are trying to look at the market in a neutral way will disagree with such a prediction, and you run the risk of selling your coins since you will realize that you were mistaken all the time and that it is going to take very long for bitcoin to reach that price.

True that OP said it will reach 50k is not possible now. Even if it crosses 10k + for this year it will be more than welcome for now as almost double in 1 months from this level is a very good returns and also it will bring back confidence in the market.

Today we are not so far from EoY. And as we can see ETF will be in 2019 and later. I don't wait such strong movements from BTC price because I don't see any reason for it. Bakkt? ETF from Nasdaq? Do not make me laugh  ;D Only mass adoption can make anything

you've got a point, but its about 10 years that bitcoin exists and still almost zero adoption, yeap i guess in future there will be needs for blockchain tech, but bitcoin and others coins would be needed, but etf in the early 2019 maybe will give us a little boost, but maybe not, its kind a lottery

But the Fed may and wants to see it all. When the world's monetary system turns to bitcoin, the economic manipulation may decline. This may lead to dramatic changes in human society. This is an important event and cannot be predicted.

Everybody must know that in crypto market there is no certainty about nothing, you can't say I'm sure or something like that. Of course these are experience for us and new investors.

But of course not thins year. There might be good addition to the value no doubt. Actually it is not easy to quote the time in cryptocurrency revival. So many factors cannot be incorporated into a simple regression model to find what is coming.

It failed to reach $50k last year but it could happen this year. There is a good chance that bakkt will go ahead soon and if an ETF is granted later this year then we can expect a rapid rise back to the ATH, before reaching out to $50k

The ETF may pass the review tomorrow or may never pass the review. I don't think we can count on events without deadlines. Working hard is what we should do.

I think that big players use information about ETF to manipulate the price. Just as you wrote, a positive decision can come tomorrow or never, so we should not considering it, wanting to invest in cryptocurrencies. The decision on the ETF is simply pure speculation.

Look through the old posts and articles that appeared in 2018. Some famous people, successful businessmen had long discussions about Bitcoin price. Some of these guys seemed to be sure that BTC could reach 50K in a year.

We're at the mercy of SEC which means its beyond our control. Why would we rely on something that we don't have control with?

Besides, we have survived that first 10 years without any ETF, so it doesn't makes any difference whatsoever if it is approved or not.

Someone can argue that it will bring fresh blood to the market, yes, i would agree to that, but will the growth sustainable or this is just another way for whales to manipulate the price again and we will see another massive drop-off? It's better to be prepared for the worst situation if SEC rejects its again (most likely) next month.
