Title: Old coins vs new coins
Post by: ololajulo on January 18, 2019, 09:54:16 AM
old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

It is obvious that all the aspect of the space had struggled due the giant force of bitcoin. Over the past year the average dump in price of most of the old token/altcoin from the last bull run is close to 90% while the new coin are holding to their price. Most ICOs in the later part of 2018 decided to postpone the listing which their decision could be justified or condemned as the market revives.
With the approaching news of bull run and present the value of altcoins,
1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?
2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

Yes. Bitcoin goes up, alts go up too.
2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
This depends on the investor and owner of a portfolio. If you think that its better to take new coins as an alternative to well established old coins, it's for you to decide.
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?
Hold old established coins like bitcoin and eth and will invest with spare money if I see good project but I never invest to ICO. I'll invest once it is already established.

I believe the crash was partly due to the large amount of shitcoins being incredibly overvalued, and this will be what prevents the next bullrun until like 95% of today's coins are worth next to nothing.
so many small, niche coins or just copies of other coins being worth billions..

It does not matter old or new. It only matters good or bad! And maybe working project issue... I think we always look at the wrong place.

I don't think there will be coins that can reach $ 20,000 like Bitcoin
I will not give an answer to question number 2
I choose to invest in coins that are really good old coins or even newit doesn't matter

Not all old coins are good, so are new coins. Only the community can develop the coin, without community, they cannot develop. IMO

Old coins or new coins
There are typically no difference

The only existing difference are scam tokens and real tokens
Pump or dump tokens scheme

Regardless alway be in profits, all that matter

Of course, there are certain patterns that will have to show how the world is changing. I can’t say that today the world has changed completely, but I see that investors are now watching projects more carefully.

well it depends , but for me i prefer to hold old coin that has a previous record rather than a new coin which is not safe in my opinion .because the future is very unpredictable , unlike old altcoin wherein for sure will recover again along with other coin after the market stabilization .

I prefer the old coins because they have gone through a lot and they have built their community already but if there's a new technology coming in the market and experts have predicted it to be a game changer then I can sell half of my old coins to accommodate this new one.

1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?

Everything is possible in this market. But I guess it will take like years before we can even see altcoins touching that price.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?

Of course, as long as they offer value and real life usage, why not? But the problem with new coins today is that they're being exploited for pump-and-dump only.

3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

Again, it boils down as how the new coins will be. Will they really disrupt the ecosystem with their new coins? What's the purposes of their coins?

Hold more old coins and invest on new coins that you see big potential, its a good strategy but you must take care on dealing with the ICO since most of them are just a scam. We can say that old coins has more potential since its already proven but let’s give chance to those ICO who are here to make good business.

Hard to say if it is better to invest into old or new coins.
I think that new coins offer more, they are faster, cheaper, easier to use. But there is a risk that they will not be accepted.

Old coins tested by time. They created the product, survived the bear market, etc. New coins do not have normal exchanges, there is no product, they may not survive the bear market.

The way I see it, old coins are already tested through difficult times. The new coins, I cannot see how they will make it through this bear market. Some of the old coin had provisions for long duration bear market such as this and it shows. The ones that survived and keep going are now tested, their people know how to endure. The ICO coins, not so much. They burn through the money they got from the investors and then it is all over for them.

I agree with the last post, it all depends if you plan on using it for trading, the old coins are better to profit on. For new coins will be more for hodling or for actually using day-to-day.

I think it too risky if you invest in the new coins in this situation, there are many coins after the ICO the price will dump, if you invest it after the listed in the exchange, it sure to loss the money, so I would like invest the old coins then the new one.

I think some revelations last year should help our choices also? What about the idea of STO in the new market? and most fund that might go into new coin are from profit made from previous

1-That totally depends on the overall market cap, if we have the same level of the market cap when Bitcoin reached $20,000 then it is very possible for Altcoins to reach its ATH too I don't see it as a difficult thing.
2-Hmm if the ICO coins represent the same idea as an old coin I guess the more established one will win, but if ICO is a coin or token with a new idea or new project they will make their own space in every investor portfolio.
3-That totally depends on the new ICO in place, I might sell weak coin on my portfolio for a new promising ICO so there is no fixed act it all depends on the ICO and what coins I have on my portfolio.

A good project can achieve high performance even with bear markets. And what is needed for this? Marketing, good product, work with the community and good exchanges. Of course, such a project will move even after entering the market. Most projects do not balk.

I sort of see it this way too. The old coins have been through incredibly tough times, and actually it only got tougher of them as things went by, like look at Bitcoin as the clearest example. But for every test passed, it seems it needs an even bigger challenge to threaten it. Like remember when the hard fork happened? Everyone thought that would be the death of Bitcoin. That didn't happen at all. It actually got stronger, so now every new hard fork is meaningless to Bitcoin.

But new coins, even a hard fork can seem like the death of it. It's impossible for me to imagine what new coins can do UNLESS they find a way for utility. But how to convince people? I don't know. I don't think new coins know either.

The new coins which are released from now ICO stage are not good to invest for now in this bear market and the few kinds listed on the exchanges went to deep down in times of crisis so it is not an alternative for the points which goes through bull market in 2017.

First question, everyone hopes that this year the bull run will come so they can recover the losses they have suffered. But I'm sure there won't be anyone who can make sure that happens, but surely when the bull run comes the price of Altcoin will reach the ATH again.

Second question, It depends on every investor who reads the potential of the new altcoin, but in the ongoing market conditions like now, every investor will have difficulty predicting and even convincing that the new altcoin can replace their portfolio.

Third question, as I said, in the second point answered, I cannot be sure that ICO projects can benefit. Most of the ICO did not qualify and were registered in exchange so as I did not want to try to invest in ICO for now, it is better to survive investing in bitcoin or holding money fiat.

To sell old coins at a loss is to lose.

Old coins are safer as they have charts to follow. However, the newer ones could have more pump potential if you're a risk taker. Bit of both would be an ideal portfolio

1. yes all will follow if bitcoin goes to its peak price but nit that much because it is still bitcoin can go further with the market price increase or the bull run.
2. All coin are alternative to bitcoin new or old coin. Besides not all project nowadays has successfully launched because of bear market. Most of new coins still has the market price dip.
3. Old coins like BCH, XRP ETH are good to hold. So if you are referring to this crypto then it is good to hold.

My simple answer is, I am holding both. Not disturbing the one due to the other one.

Future is always a mysterious one. We cannot be sure what are the coins which are going to have another bull run and what are the coins which nay get delisted from exchanges. Diversification is the perfect strategy, we need to follow here.

Use-case wise we may have alternatives but definitely not on investment point of view. Sometimes, new coin/token with repeated concept may find success whereas sometimes, old coins will never allow similar new coins to grow up. Everything is case to case basis here. Nothing is well defined nor fixed for all the times.

When diversification is the prime rule to be followed, I guess no one will sell one for the reason of buying another. Moreover, I never invest into new random things but I do participate in campaigns and do hold all my rewards with the expectation of market to turn into positive side.

If you want to make profit from the coins that have been existing for quite some time, you will not bother yourself much in their ATH during the bullrun. Rather you should deal with them based of their present price.
As a matter of fact, those who are coming in now have more privileges, because they are not buying at high price and that alone might bring them profit if it rises.
Sometimes, I also choose to invest in new coins.

You have specified too much, who said that a lot of the old coins have already gone through a bull market and sudden valuations? The current collapse of this market you can put in the account of these tokens that flooded the market and people's options, I agree that the strong valuations were also possible through this fiat entry behind fast gains, but look at the current situation, the price of BTC is more expensive than September 2017, but the positive sentiment is much lower. Some old coins or famous sleeping giants are about to wake up, just watch. ;)

I think personally it's not about old coin or new coin, but what matters most is holding coins with great prospect. It's true that many coins listed have seen great downtrend, due to the dwindling market situation. I also think delaying listing doesn't make things any better, because for instance if it's ERC20 token, some guys will go list unofficially on forkdelta and it will kill the price further, unless the tokens are locked.

Answering your question : 1) Most altcoins will hit ATH when bitcoin will do the same. 2)Potentially yes , but it should be a really good project , with a professional team behind it . 3) I prefer old altcoins , but have some part of new alts in my portfolio too .

Bullruns don't happen everytime though but I had to say that altcoins would keep on coming but I don't think that it would be comparable to BTC because.it will still remain undeniably on #1, however as technology rises so does the new coins too, and if coins kept on improving then I think that someday there will be a close fight between thar #1 spot against BTC.

Whether old or new, does it matter really? Who remembers Bytebal? It used to be the next big coin in price to Bitcoin in 2017 It went  as high as over $1k. Anyone can check the current price at CMC. It's really nothing to write home about.

I think that there is both. Investing in old coins is reliable, but we don't know how soon they can reach their past record value. And new coins have a huge potential and they can grow an unlimited number of times. But this complexity, the choice of a suitable coin. Not many of the new coins have a chance to survive after such a fall.

You can keep new coins. It doesn't matter old or new. Potential is really important for the development of the project. A good new project can make a big profit.

I think that new projects have more prospects than many old projects. Technologies are developing very quickly and old projects may become outdated in the future. Also in new projects fewer people who bought very expensive their coins.

For me I always go for good project I never categories them in old and new project. Most of the new project are not good as I saw in the market very few of them are good and if I saw that some of them are doing really great
Now come to price alts will touch it's alt but it's about time and market conditions and the token details. When market start to grow alt grows the most. I think it will again touch ath of Bitcoin go 200$ and stable. I said as before it's not about old or new it's about the project. If a project is good and it's new I don't care they have to be a future proof project.

You are right. Some new projects will have their bull runs and some old projects will have to die. I just don't see all the current top 20 coins keeping their positions by the end of the year. The first ones to go will probably be SV and BCH. I wouldn't touch that those with a stick. At the same time there's this Grin that could be worth looking into.

Old coins doesn’t mean its good, you still need to choose the right old coin to gain profit. The new coins will face so many challenges before you can say its a great coin, it must be succeed on their ICO and of course it should produced good services. At last, you still need to work hard for you to earn profit don’t just depend to your luck.

I prefer old coins. Many teams have been very good at developing and promoting their projects in previous years. The price of many top Altcoins has dropped very much over the previous year.

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

1. It can happens only if the total supply of this coin is about 1000  ;D
2. It doesn't matter. Most of old and new coins will disappear soon, only Bitcoin will stay (and several really functional alts which you should choose carefully)
3. I'll choose to sell most of alts for BTC exept some really quick and cool alts (you know what i'm talking about)  ;)

It does not matter if it is an old coin or a new coin, what matters is the value they represent, the use case and the development
potential. These things determine the demand for them and how big supporting community they have.

if I talk about investment and about trust, I would prefer and trust old coins because they can still survive even though they often experience a bad phase called bearish and it proves that they are strong and worthy of being used as an investment especially for old coins like ethereum and bitcoin.
because even though now the price seems to be falling but actually the coin is a successful coin because it has been able to pass from bearish and still has a price that is much higher than the initial price or we usually call ICO

According to the latest coinmarketcap data, there are currently more than 2100 coins and tokens, this number will continue to grow because of the many new ICOs that make the competition very tight, but of course this makes a lot of coins die and choosing good coins is important.

It doesn't matter with old coin or new coin, as long as the coin got a good feature, got a lot of support and great developers then it can become more valuable, and any coins got the chance to go up really high, it depends on how the team attract more users and investors

some of the new coins may be rated as a junk and just getting crypto meets only. But if you can choose well then there is also the new coins that even has the potential to put on hold in the long run. It may be more convenient for holding on old coins because it tested but already sure has the potential either.

In my opinion, the old or new coin is no different, the most important thing is that coin has good potential to be made an investment, but we must remain smart in analyzing whether the coin has good potential to be invested because not all coins are suitable for investment.

1. Can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?

Yeah, of course it can. Altcoin prices will also experience pumps, when the price of Bitcoin is pump.
I think it's a relationship that can't be separated. So, if the bitcoin price reaches $ 20,000, the Altcoin will reach the new ATH price.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?

Yes it can. But with the condition that the coin has good quality and able to compete with coins that already have good trust like ETH.

Quote
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

For now I prefer to hold old coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XLM, and XRP.
But if you want to buy new ICO, Choose an ICO  that is able to compete and has a real project.

Old or new, that's differ not much. The coins with potential and real life use case I mean utility coin will get ATH in the bull run. If bitcoin hit $20000, most of the altcoin will also hit the ATH from current market. It doesn't take months to reach to the ATH, it is matter of 1 week only.

1. It might be, depending on the project, you need to specify the coin, I can not just blindly speculate, and generalize altcoin.
2. Again it depends on the project, I know that some or even most of the new projects are just shit, but there are still some of them that are quite worth to be investing in.
3. I am still holding some of the old coin, but at the same time, I also looking for new opportunities.

The old coin already knows how it works and provides good development, the team has experience and can deal with existing problems. For new coins, this requires the right process and adjustment to be better and can provide interesting innovations. To ensure that you have to have a real vision and mission so that it can be accepted.

I think old coins and new coins are different. There are still many people holding old coins now because they believe that prices will definitely rise again. And for new coins, there are now many problems and you also have to be careful in determining new coins. Old coins and new coins certainly need to be considered because many coins die.

Yes, I also like old coins because they are stronger than new ones, sometimes the new ones are not as good as old coins, so many people like old coins rather than new ones.

I save all the coins, both new and old, but investing in new coins is more risky than in old ones, as coins that have been sold on the market for a long time can track and view charts of past years, how the project develops and what it has achieved from the very beginning. New projects do not rush to negotiate with the exchanges at the expense of listing their tokens and prefer to wait for the best market conditions.

You should analyse each project independently, is it old or new. Some old altcoins have a huge potential because they survived this dump and have a very strong and motivated team. Some old projects have strong partnerships also. New coins have their initial potential - they probably will be pumped at least for one time or maybe more even without any significant news or development.

I agree, there's equal opportunities in terms of coexistence, both coins can be supported by community that will be form to keep the project survive, there's no actual things that will let them be instinct if community will continue to follow and trust the system, people who value their knowledge will
keep coins that they fully understand and will continue waiting for more progress and developments that will happen around the supported coins that they've holds.

there is a possibility for new coin to gain good profit when the btc itself gain its new ATH, its hard to find new coin nowadays that will survive during this Bear market, Lets consider the fact that most of the new coin cant beat the ath price of what you currently holding in your portfolio but when you think of profit maybe my answer is yes, cutting lose is not bad as long as you can gain good profit and afterwards buy good coins (old) that is sure for long term investment

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

1. Possibilities always available, but at this moment that would be impossible if the way of the cryptocurrency is still the same that all of the altcoins depends on Bitcoin.
2. That would be depend on the quality of the coin itself, if it's good enough and able to takes people trust, then the way towards that point will be open.
3. I prefer to hold my coins instead of selling them right now and purchase on ICO.

'Approaching news of bull run' — I am sure until people have this hope, bull run won't be coming.

Old coins has survived the multiple harsh bear markets, unlike ICOs which disappear in such markets. So my trust would go with old coins.

There is a difference of which ones. I mean there has been a lot of old coins that went to zero and a lot of old coins like ethereum and bitcoin and litecoin that are still high. There are new coins like IOTA and Bitcoin cash that are new but made a lot of profits to the investor whereas there are a lot of new coins that went to zero.

Basically, no matter when a coin was published even if its old or new, there is a possibility of going really high or going really low. It doesn't matter when it happened, it only matters what happens to them after a while. One huge difference between those two is that old coins didn't had ICO, they were not existent one day and next day they had a wallet, it was created just like that, whereas new coins get ICO funds to work on. I don't know if that is good or bad but that is a big difference for sure.

Old coin and new coin is doesn't matter what's matters most is the strategy and the trust or the way we select a good coin to hold. I believe that there are a lot of old coins that is really amazing and there are also old coin that failed same as new coin, there are a lot of new coin that is rising and there are also new coin that fall. So I believe that it doesn't matter if the coin is old or new. I think it depends on us or in the strategy that we make by choosing a good coin.

I will choose to invest in tokens that were listed in early 2018. They look very promising, the team's work is very positive, and the price of the currency has risen several times. It is worth investing in them now, and when the bull market is coming, it will definitely get a huge return.

And how do you get what coin is good? In advance it's very difficult or even impossible to know what new project will be good. In that case older coins just have some previous story

We can never know if there will be any possible chance that we can still hit the ATH right now. But the thing is not all the new coins are not being listed on the exchange. That is still depends on the team. I have joined a bounty campaign lately that is ended already and now it is listed already on the exchange.

Personally, I choose new coins as I believe new coins may have chance to increase dramatically in prices as compared to already established coins given the market trend. When a new coin hits the market, its prices will rise in the first place. So here to leverage that trend of price increment, one should have trading skills. So it is very much good way to generate profits by investing in new coins.

Old coins such bitcoin and ethereum are the main cryptocurrency, so they have got very high demands. On the other hand, most people are reluctant to invest in new coins, as there is no guarantee that they wouldn't fail in future.

It's hard for me to judge the prospects of new or old altcoins, but I will share my thoughts. In my opinion, no altcoin will be able to come close to the cost of $20,000 in the next 5 years. To do this, the capitalization of Bitcoin should exceed a trillion dollars. At the same time, I think that among the new coins we will see many successful projects that will be in the top-10 of coinmarketcap. But for greater security, I would still form a portfolio of proven altcoins, such as ETH, BCH, LTC, ADA.

old coins and new coins have their own advantages and disadvantages. old coins have experienced a bull run and now their prices are said to fall, while coins that have never experienced a bull run are said to be coins that never developed.
I don't think this is fair.

I believe that even when bullrun starts, none of the altcoins will be able to catch up with Bitcoin in value and come close to $20K. At the same time, I think some of the new coins that appeared in 2018 will be a great alternative to the old coins. But in any case do not get rid of old coins, just add new coins to your portfolio.

Old coins are old projects, they stand firmly on their feet, they have a high level of capitalization, and the price is less stable, such coins grow either after the general growth of the market (Bitcoin) or their price “shoots” at certain times of the year (usually in spring and summer ). These coins are on many major exchanges, which means you will not have problems with buying and selling.

Old coins are more established and has a stronger community compared to the newer coins which are arguably fueled only by greed. The former also has more time to develop their product and is actually in used compared to ico tokens that are not deployed at all.

old coins like Bitcoin, he is the first coin to be launched, he is very famous and everyone almost knows about him, if he is compared to new coins, he will be the best. New coins or old coins are not all good and not all bad, good bad can be seen from its potential. only Bitcoin is the best because he is the king of coins and always occupies the top position and there is no doubt about his ability.

as long as those new coins are worth investing, I will surely put an eye on them as they could create hype and make a pump to rise above their ICO price. It could be a high risk but if you will do a research then you can minimize the risk and get a higher chances of getting profits with your small capital.

Some alts can goes up when bitcoin is $20k but only some of it, the good one will goes up and the bad one will suffer

You might be right because some of the new coins seems to create solution to the flaws of old existing coins but that does not mean all new coins have the good utility to survive crypto market, generate good profit for investors or rise once hit the market and if you watch closely you will see that 90% of all new project failed last year.
Just be more careful in selecting coins which you invest in.

I have a relation to the old coins, which proved to be well, as if they were more reliable, as they are already tested by time. At the same time, new coins and tokens may have newer technical capabilities and this should be taken into account. However, our old coins do not stand still and improve. Everything is in motion, it is natural and good.

I think everything depends on the capabilities of the developer. with good quality work, it could be that old coins will not reach a longer time, because their market is no longer supportive. New coins have a new market with me attracting more, if supported by a good team I think new coins can develop very quickly.

For old coins better than new coin because old coins are sure that there is potential and other old coin is in the coinmarket so investors prefer to have the coin and longterm more probable because oldcoin and especially if the group administrators are active and there are coming soon or projects to do and better to make their old coins know because when a company has a project to do and it will be a success I think it's also one their old coin will increase their price more because of the new coin if their project is finished their group is not quite active or is it a bit of an update to favor their coin of investors and buy more coins.

so be careful when choosing new coins, because it can be dangerous, so be careful and find out the advantages and disadvantages.

I think both are the same. however, it all depends on how the project works. if in the value of success, nowadays, quite a lot of coins are pretty good, because they succeeded in achieving success at the sale. well, but we can't compare the price of coins at this time, and first, because it used to be said that the basic price of bitcoin is really high which triggers the price of other coins to be quite high too.

I read through hybridblock project review today and I understand why it could be hard to get back to the ico price if the market didnt get back. For a token that was purchased at the ethereum price of $1200 and the team didnt sell until token distribution, now ethereum is $100,-90% loss. It could be good to buy now but it demands a lot of struggle for the token, so for most project that raised fund at the all time high price of ethereum and bitcoin, they are liable to struggle for longer time.

But I think such dinosaurs like Bitcoin will remain forever in the top and in the history of the cryptocurrency market.

Choosing a coin is always based on its potentiality. I believe that there are so many coin that new but more potential the the old one. But there are also the old coin that is fully developed and also has a great potential. So I think it depend upon the potential not on the age of the coin. We don't need to select the old and the new the best thing to do is to research about its potential to grow in the next few years.

Most ICOs in the later part of 2018 decided to postpone the listing which their decision could be justified or condemned as the market revives.
With the approaching news of bull run and present the value of altcoins,

1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?
Of course they can, but not all.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
If the project will stand out and benefit, then Yes.

3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?
Everything depends on the project, if I see that the new coins are more promising than the old ones, then I will sell the old ones.

2-Of course it can. This is a childish rhetorical question.
3-It all depends on the project behind the coin. There are dead both old and newly appeared coins.Conversely, there are promising both old and very new coins.Perhaps if the project is very active and it has “old” coins, then the best option is of course the maximum hodling

Investing in new coins can be profitable and can also be detrimental. Depends on what coins you invest. There is no harm in investing in new coins and old coins. Because all must have big potential profits.
Almost all altcoins are down so cheap prices are attractive. If someone invests to altcoins during bull market then it is supposed to be profitable. There is no concrete plan for getting in cryptocurrencies and everyone acts on its own opinion.

I would invest in old coins. It seems to me that such coins are more reliable. At the moment, the risk does not bring much profit.

The age of the coin does not matter for me, the main thing is that it would be a working project that listing its tokens on several good exchanges and has a large trading volume.

Some of the old coins like Grin and beam are rocking, grin has turned to 12$ from 0.35$ in less than a month! so You can't say good coins are not as good but some of the old coins would never get any replacement, but some of them would get vanished.

The new market with a lot of volatility has caused almost all ICOs to fail even to stop because the bear market is rebellious. Bitcoin is unlikely to reach the $ 20,000 price without significant changes, especially the ETH needs to return to $ 500 to restore ICOs. If I choose, I will sell the old Altcoin to invest in ICO.

It depends upon the team, utility, credibility, technology of a coin. If you have held a coin that is very much promising and is set to skyrocket in price in the near future, be it old or new, you will continue holding. Otherwise, you sell. So I do not have any traditional mindset and old is bad and new is good or vice-versa. So whether be it established or newcomer, only the good and promising coin is prioritized.

yes, but most old coins that have proven good and bad can understand. Most new coins are only fake and fraudulent so you have to do some research first and find out the truth. if a new coin is profitable and has many benefits, save it.
old or new coins if it can still grow and move better so as to provide a big advantage to maintain.

The answer to every question you asked depends on people understand the situation of cryptocurrency. Right now, every coins decline in it's price hodl strategy is the best solution I know to avoid drastic losses. I don't think that as of this moment, investing in ICO is a better alternative for the current situation of the market.

In my opinion, holding a new coin is not as feasible, considering from the investors' side it is not expected more for the ICO in recent times and ICO investment movements have dropped dramatically due to declining investor trust. It is very difficult at this time for the ICO to expect large investments because of what has happened from the impact of ICO fraud so far.

But there was a lot of scam coins since the bitcoin code has been leaked by someone. Whatever if that was a new or old coin as long as it has created by the trusted developers and it can be trusted.
The coin that can give you a lot of benefits must be owned by a trusted company.

Old coins in my opinion will rise, if btc price should reach the last ATH that was had, but most of the old altcoins might not attain their own last ATH, except the individual coins rise on their own accord, perhaps due to some developments.
I also prefer to invest in the new ones, but one must be careful while doing that, because there are so many shit coins among them.

I think Bitcoin will definitely hit a new ATH but we just don't know when it will happen. Altcoins price will all pump as btc pumps so its better to hold old coins than new ones especially top ranked altcoins because it has already have a good price in the market waiting for bull run.

2. many new ICOs have emerged but there are still some ICOs that are not as expected or scam. I think it could have happened because the new ICO would add to market competition to be more attractive.
3. depending on the market conditions if the current market conditions I like to do trading techniques even though the profit is not much but quite a part can be reinvested. if the coin is attractive it will still hold me up to the price that I expected.

I don't know which one is good. but the advantage of old coins is that they have large trading volumes and have listings in large exchanges such as bittrex, polo, binance, okex and others. all these new coins don't have.

but new coins have the potential to rise higher, than what was previously worthless can be very valuable.

old coins and new coins have their own risks, but if new coins tend to have a big risk, the fact is that when they enter the exchange, they have no value and there is no price development anymore. while the old coins are at least in the market and have a stable price so that the opportunity to ride is still there, but not just any coins

I will not tell you my position for a long time. During the time that I trade in the crypto market, I have seen a lot. Those coins that have few prospects can grow furiously, but they also quickly fall to the bottom.
Sometimes after the end of the pump, the next one may begin in a short time. And some very promising coins can trade for a whole year at about the same price level.

Technological developments are developing very fast, so that many new coins are emerging by carrying out new technologies, this can provide a distinctive color for crypto currencies, so that it can be an attractive choice for traders to be able to make a profit. the more coins available on the market, the more choices you will have in trading.

As long as the project is alive the altcoins will survive and surpass different expectation for good. So it's better to always track and observer your potential interest crypto project.

Many probability will come as long as every project continues to boom for long terms, along with the holders mindset. If that's the case sudden fall down on a crypto price will not happen quickly, because of strong dedication and motivations.

That will provide interesting variations and more choices can be made by investors. However, the new coin must have the power and have a good project, because ultimately the one who will determine the coin will develop or not will be the investors. New Coin must get full support because it is the initial capital to continue to exist and survive in the crypto world at this time.

Many people find old coins more reliable. But can you make a lot of money on old coins in a short time? Probably in the current market to do it will not work. New coins can give more profit but you have to be able to choose.

It is difficult to make a lot of money from old coins in a short time. Besides that every coin in the market only follow with bitcoin price moves so whenever bitcoin did, the other coins will behind on bitcoin. I am not sure if new coins can give more profit because they need to show people their benefits so people will think that new coins can compete with the old coins. But I do believe that every coin including new coins can give us more profit at the right time.

I believe that invest in old coin reliably, and in new more risky. But do not neglect them. I regularly study new coins and gladly buy them if any of them interest me. Moreover, you can keep both old and new coins, which will increase your chances of success.

Old coins have the advantage that they are already more or less tested by time and it’s more clear scam or not. With the new coins, the risk is no more, but it cannot be said that there are no coins among them with great potential, everything is relative, but it’s true that new coins are treated more carefully.

do you think you can earn more in the new coins ?  didnt you know that if old coins like btc have drop , new coins also follows  ?  sure some new can pump faster because most of them are built for a pump and dump scheme  .

its pretty risky though . what if you invest and the coin suddenly dump in no return .

overall , we must not under estimate the potential of new coins  because old coins like bitcoin do also start as new   .  we just need to be picky because lots of fake coins are now on the loose .

1. There's a possibility that most altcoins would reach its all-time high when Bitcoin reach $20,000 again.

2. Only select few would be an alternative because of how the ICO had gone through. Most are scams and failing. Only a handful are able to make a name in the crypto world.

3. I believe that old coins still have better chance to grow than new coins. Most new coins nowadays are pump and dump which some are relying on and it's not good. I would just hold my old coins which is proven to make me more profit.

logically, of course, most people choose old coins rather than new coins , factors because old coins are already listed on the market big and have large volumes, but it is not a reason for us not to choose a new coin because most new coins will make a lot of profit in a short time

Of course, the new coins should be treated with great care, as mentioned above. But if you choose the right one, it will provide you with a great profit. Old coins are also worth keeping in your portfolio, they will not bring you huge profits, but will provide you with reliability and a relatively stable price for your portfolio.

Exactly. Old altcoins have certain support and resistance levels which we can use to predict the price action, so the risk is much lower due to less entropy. With new coins we don't know anything except some fundamentals, so the risk of dump is much higher, but the reward could be extremely high and almost instant as well...

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

I also think the same way but one thing is that most of the ICOs were conducted by people who had knowledge in crypto so they used the bitcoin's "bubble(sorry if I used an abusive term)" to steal money from investors so no money to invest in better projects that are here now or completed their ICOs but with few funds. Looking at the way some few alts are functioning and devs doing their work, I think new alts may hit a very high price one day if not now.

There are hundreds of coins and tokens introduced everyday, old coins has been dump and some others were lost in its track, causing the market unstable, the more the coins, the bad market it is, I think there should be a limitation when it comes to producing new tokens and coins, and it's not surprising that only the best old coins can stay longer in the market, but I don't think any Alts or new tokens could surpassed bitcoin in its current state and price value.

If there is a bull run comes, even the bad project will collect in millions so it all depends on the market not based on the potential because people were investing based on profits in short term don't have intention to support them in long term.

I'd never wanting for the big rewards but for the price that it won't drastically drop down and make profit. We should be very careful of buying new coins cause mostly of them were fall after listed in the market which could possibly give losses to us. It is better to invest the leading coins in the market cause we have assurance to get.

As long as the tech documents and team are alright, both old and new coin can have a bright future in crypto space. The disadvantage of the old coins is the fact that most of them started with such a low capital and it was a lot more difficult for them to resist in the previous bear market. The advantage of the new one is that they had enough time to gather they starting capital in order to achieve their roadmaps.

In fact, new coins come in old coins, but those coins or tokens that work with their security, they can survive in the market, and all other tokens or coins cannot hold their place. There are many more things that work on the basis of the demand of tokens or coins that are difficult to understand before trading starts.

If look at some old coin graphic data, the average has dropped by more than 10,000%, so I think it's very impossible to return to the initial price. Although some people still believe they will recovery but I don't. So my decision will be to sell it and start investing in a new ICO (New ICO, New Hope  ;D).

New coins carry new perspectives.
Of course, the development of the cryptocurrency market is inevitable and new coins will gradually take up good positions.
Personally, I would invest in new coins that can compete with old ones.
If they have no future and it can be seen immediately investing in them is only a loss of money.

Yes, all this is possible. I think that with the arrival of a bullish market, the price of Bitcoin will be able to quickly restore the previous price of $ 20,000. New projects against the background of a weakened market will be very popular and in turn will have the opportunity to become market leaders in a short period of time.

Based on the Cryptocurrency philosophy, I strongly agree with your speculation, Bitcoin is very strong and has great power in the market, so it is not impossible to increase the lost price again.
Most projects are initially relatively weak and over time it will be better for serious developers, all just a matter of time that will turn around to change things.

At the moment I prefer the old time-tested coins.
For example Ethereum.

I do not exclude the possibility that new coins that appear may eventually become better than some old ones, but this is the endless progress of the market.

In my observation it's certain that when Bitcoin price goes up every other Altcoins follow as well, I don't think new coins from ICO will be a good alternative to the old once, you don't expect New coins without working products, not listed yet to surpass a project with working product and already trading on exchanges. To me I believed holding the old Coins will be more beneficial and safer.

wait if all you know about old coins and new coins is just like this, it's better to learn crypto deeper.

You know the old coins are coins that already operate their platforms and can be used fully. while new coins are projects that are just developing and their platform has not been released. so it doesn't matter if the coin is released after or before the bull run. as long as their platform hasn't been used yet the project goes into a new coin.

new coins can usually be quickly registered at the exchange because they have funds obtained from collecting funds from the ICO sales they offer to investors and they also have a better team and most ICOs are created because they want to provide the best solutions generated from their platform.

The falling in pricing mostly affects the ico coins or tokens.  Most of the projects that were listed during this fall has lose over 95% of the icos value and that in turn has affected investors' sentiment.

It all depends, new altcoins still need development to be able to prove to it's investors that it has a good long-term potential. A lot of successful ICOs last year had paused on development or had been left because of lack of funds due to the bad market. Only a few are struggling and are on continuous development. The bear-market had somehow cleansed the market since there had been a lot of trash/scam coins in the market.

The fact is that new coins develop their projects at the current state of the cryptocurrency market, which still negatively affects their pricing. While the old coins began to grow, Following the example of 2016, when Bitcoin had a price of $ 500. It seems to me that if the coin fell in price by more than 500%, then they will not rise to the old level.

I don’t really trust young and small coins. Because among them a lot of spam. It is better to use old but proven coins.

I do not think that there will not be any effect by the means of old and new notion. Coins are not judged by old and new. But rather it is judged by its performance. In the crypto market, coins are born and die and it is continuous process. What we should try to find that whether a coin is actually performing well to win its consumers' heart. So look at performance, but not the notion of old and new.

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

of course, most people believe in old coin types because they can last a long time and high trading volumes have been proven in various exchange markets. but not a few new types of coins have good potential because they have an active team that is strong enough and always develops the projects it carries out

For many ICOs, this is the right decision to postpone the listing, mostly serious projects that take care of investments and are aimed at product development, in which case it makes sense to invest in new coins.

Some ICOs even postpone their projects, due to the current market situation.
investors began to doubt because there was no certainty to immediately enter the exchange.
This delay is certainly detrimental to everyone including investors and bounty hunters.

the both old and new coins had the positives and negatives equally when comes to the existing coins that we are holding will not sure about how we can get the profit and also selling and investing in a new coin will made a huge risk so it depends on investor mind only.

I don't have a confidence with selling and investing in a new coin because holding the existing investment will better than this idea if anything happen for existing investment it will be ok but selling and investing little amount after getting hours it will give huge tension and last for us.

Old coin will be low interested by many people and new coin will give more motivated to trade or invest, how ever new coin have great chance on higher price and could take much profit than trade or invest with old coin.

Many old coin death because they can run the project and make a good product. New coin is new investment and speculation. Sometimes new coin bring a new technology that can bring faster transaction and lower fee but old coin like ethereum will remain survive

I will still cling to my old coins like ETH and XRP if the facilitators of the projects are actively promoting their coins as their coins made it to exchange because their projects are proven feasible to the masses. It's just happen that there is bearish market that makes the people afraid to invest in crypto currency but once bullish market will start then for sure old coins will bounce back again.

Coins who already have a good communities are commonly rise when the market start to pumped, it's the easy access for crypto lovers to divert their money from bitcoin to alts and start pumping what coins they love to support, many investors and traders are just around and waiting for the moment
then ride with the  flow.

New coins will be tested from this bearish and if they survive, chances to succeed will be there when the bull trend starts.

Based on whats currently happening I can say that ATH for BTC and old coins wont happen. See,we have predicted recovery even experts but what happend? It came just like a usual gossip.

Regarding new coins the 1st coin that I see that survived this market is BTT  of course due to the fact that it was sold thru binance. But for the others I dont think they will recover even to its ICO price. Then again crypto is unpredictable and lets see what will happen.

For old coins, the old coin is even better than other old coin is in some good exchangers and in coinmarket it is also more likely that the old coin is more profitable because it is profitable than new coin is now hard to find out if there is a future It's better to invest in old coins than in a new coin.

Not really. I think some new coins can compete with the old coin. And if they have better projects and they can give something better than the old ones. But still, it needs hard work to beat the old coins since they already gather a big community and many people trusted them and used the coins. But there is a chance for new coins to get a better place in the coinmarketcap and we already know that some new coins have raised their position.

new coins and old coins have advantages and disadvantages, the advantages of old coins have a base of users who have felt difficult and happy in crypto, and they believe they will have the ability to bounce back, but many old coins don't have a real market while new coins have a market clear, and take part in the production sector so that it not only depends on crypto market prices, if I have to choose, I choose new coins, I see that in the future cryptocurrency will have a base in the real world, such as banks and other industrial fields

you're right, no matter it's a coin from the past, or at present, if the coin has a good development, then it's worth keeping. for now, the development of old coins looks superior, this is because the project has developed so rapidly that the coins are better compared to the new ones.

Most times, when I see the rate at which new coins grow, I usually get to a point where I thought within myself that I may not invest in hold ones again.
It was later I got to know about some things, such as that since the price of most of those new altcoins is very low, any growth, is able to make it look like it is better More profits can be made through that means, but it is not as safe as the already established new ones.

This goes to ways, the old coins shows that  cryptocurrencies can rise very well in their values in the bull run and the new coins have also shown that there is value investing in ICOs.
however one cannot just invest in only new coins or old coins that is why it is important to have a balance of both new and old coins for the next bull run so diversify your portfolio and keep very good project for the next bull run

Today I read through the review of the hybridblock project and I understand why it could be difficult to return to the ico price if the market did not return. For a token bought at the ethereum price of $1,200 and the team did not sell until the token distribution, the ethereum is now a loss of $100,-90 percent. It could be good to buy now, but it requires a lot of struggle for the token, so for most projects that have raised funds for ethereum and bitcoin at a high price at all times, they may struggle for longer.

Most times, investors tend to have more interest in new good altcoins, because the team might still be very much serious about the coin.
Most times, this happens because they have not yet got their intended profits. So they will be very active.
For coins like this, you need to keep yourself updated with their news, because they can be very useful.

I think that the choice of old or new coins depends more on how much deposit you are going to spend on it. If the size of the deposit exceeds several tens of thousands of dollars, then the ratio of Old coins to new ones should be no less than 3/1. If your deposit is small, then you may well take the risk and invest all your money in any one new project.

1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?

I humbly disagree with your first answer. I do not think any alt will hit the ath of bitcoin in the nearest future. If it happens, then am buying all in to alts.

I believe the crash was partly due to the large amount of shitcoins being incredibly overvalued, and this will be what prevents the next bullrun until like 95% of today's coins are worth next to nothing.
so many small, niche coins or just copies of other coins being worth billions..

You could say that mate. Right now, the amount of new coins being introduced in the market day in and day out is really hurting the chances of the older more trusted coins to regains and stand up from its losses. The reality that it's just too hard to get a good return and basically a win right now is very evident, and if most people would not do any measures to increase the transactions rates to help in the increase of most of the coins, it will be more and more difficult for the market to get back up, that may lead, hopefully not, to its complete deterioration. For now, I am more inclined into using older coins that is more trusted and has better value, and in turn, has more chances to get back up.

Success or new coin based on how many investor are interested to buy and invest at new coin, when many investor like and interested for investing will make new coin success and keep lower interested by investor at old coin.

I prefer the old coin from the new coin to invest, if we are going to invest in a new coin, of course we have to be good at choosing good coins and potentially because we are new, we don't know the quality of the coin, for many years, people have invested in the coin and some have already entered the best coin list so we just have to choose, but it all returns to the personal - each will choose an old or new coin

Old coins doesn't mean more potential than new coins. In fact neither old or new there are only two possible results , stay longer and becoming more potential or stay for awhile then kick out from crypto place. The meaningful purpose of the coins is necessary to attract people and invest if possible.

I think both are the same, it all depends on the development of the team. well, there are some old coins that still survive, and there are some old coins that have also been lost. a coin is not seen from old or new, but from its development. I think if you compare it, the old coin is of course better, because it has been going on for a long time, and it's trusted.

and more precisely, if coins can still be used to make a profit, so they don't see old coins or new coins, of course many people will choose them.
it's just that new coins are famous for abalone coins, because now there are so many new coins that don't have potential, so they are just cheating or totally unprofitable because they have no value and are difficult to grow.
Old coins are not all potential, but at least there are some that are good and can be profitable, besides convincing for a good future, so are new coins or old coins, if you want to buy better be careful and find out first.

Old coins all fall in price. And to pump back will certainly require a long time. And for new coins now I think I can compete with old coins. I am interested in new coins because they appear when the market price is very low. So if later the pumping market will definitely get a lot of profit.

Old Altcoin has been able to compete even though the value is still low, it can be relied upon. For the new altcoin, it seems that it is not ready to be on the market because it requires a lot of development and dares to compete so that later the value can match the old altcoin.

Coins that have not experienced any bullish trend at the moment are the most perspective on the crypto market. If they are tradable above their ICOs prices already right now, you can imagine what would happen on the green market.

I think it doesn't matter if it's old or new. Always the quality is the main factor. There are many bad "old" coins, and there are also good new coins.

However you already know the old coins. For new coins only time can tell.

As they said that the old ones went through a bull run, so the new ones will pass. Therefore, it is logical that only to look at what carries ico and whether it should be wet.

The condition is the same, for me coins that are new and old do not have a significant difference. As long as coin developers to support and manage coins well, it is very likely that these coins can survive and exist with good value. old coins and new coins will not determine the future.

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

It depends on which project we are talking about, because I have the fear that many altcoins will die due to this bearish market. I believe however that the good projects that will survive will give very nice profits and reach neu ATH when the market will start to recover again. The main point is to understand which projects will have a future and which ones not.

I think that the old coins still remain in the lead, because the cryptocurrency market is still not ready for global application. People are grasping at famous brands rather than technology, though it's not possible to argue that old coins are still as good as many new slag coins.

If a that new coins will not make profit don't expect to gain fast profit, because it needs longer time to take in order to develop more demands for its crypto community. When you're able to grow your asset you will find good returns once market started to increase at better pumping period, so you might grab more opportunities to sell at profitable price. You won't regret those times you've been patiently waiting and after the struggles rewards always come unexpected.

I stick with the mentality that most old coins that went through the bull run has reached their elastic limit( that is, showing the highest height they can go).

I believe in Investing in new coin because they are still new to the system and if the project is cool, they have the potential to rise and multiply itself more than the old coin when the next bull run happens.

Today, with this bear market, I will never sell my old and in my opinion promising coins in order to invest this money in the ICO project, since now these projects show too weak a position from which trust is becoming less and less every day.

Both kinds have advantage and disadvantages .  old coins is more legit but tend to grow slower . many users prefer this but some were impatient enough to wait , thats the reason for them to diversify or switch directly on a new kind of coins  .

New coins on the other hand more riskier because they dont gain a reputation yet . you will never know if they will stay or nay .  the only advantage of them is that they are more cheaper and they can also easily pumped  due to manipulation .

for the old coin is better than the new coin, that's my opinion for the old coin because it's definitely a potential, especially the old ones that are good for the project and longterm coin more investors than the old coin than the new the coin is newcoin because after the project and the distribution of tokens is done then the price is due to the bounty hunter that can not wait even if the new coin is potential and longterm can not prevent the price dump so that's why old coins are better than the new coin is more probable and the old coin is more profitable but even if it's too big you will be in a new coin if you're well into the strategies you'll also be profitable when it's good sold only coin and has a potential and is largely longterm it.

Impossible. All altcoins are based on bitcoin. When bitcoin goes down, altcoin prices also drop. Maybe it will reach ATH when the bitcoin price reaches ATH too. Hold old coins or buy new ico coins, both at risk. However, I prefer old coins rather than new coins. Because now, there are many new coins that are not clearly priced.

I pick new coins as I accept new coins may have opportunity to increment significantly in costs when contrasted with officially settled coins given the market pattern. At the point when another coin hits the market, its costs will ascend in any case. So here to use that pattern of value increase, one ought to have exchanging abilities.

So it is particularly great approach to produce benefits by putting resources into new coins.

the advantages of old coins are usually stable and our potential losses are few, very different from new coins usually the price at the beginning rises sharply but the continuation of all that can be very bad. so if we want a lot of profit in a short period of time then we can trade new coins every day, because prices can be very fast changing daily trading can reduce the risk of large losses. but if we want to trade in the long run, we can choose old coins because usually the price is stable and the price increase is not fast.

Indeed, old coins already have a name and have a strong community, so the character of the coin can be guessed and has a journey that is not easy. New coin trips still need struggle, coin characters cannot be seen properly, must be really ready to compete with lots of coins, and this still seems difficult to be able to attract a lot of interest.

Same old story about holding coins, it doesn't matter if its an old or new. What's important is you know exactly the coins you're holding of, and you had updates of its community. Even if that coins was old but didn't have good product to sustain it's market, still it's worthless.

The point of having already a good community support and just waiting for the trend to be reverse and everything will be profitable investing with those
coins which is inside the top 20 in the market, while the value still on sale with a cheaper price considering the last time high, thinking for more possibilities
than risking with new one without any assurance that the market will support.

Things is really surprising inside crypto market, you just have to assess everything before taking your call.

What's interesting is that the project appeared in 2018 and they were postponed a lot. We know that the delay was until the Crypto market recovered. And I'm more interested in new coins because they start at cheap prices. And if the market pumps the price of coins, of course, the opportunity to get a bigger profit.

Not necessarily good projects will be profitable, I prefer quality and potential projects, as well as potential coins that will have a future. So if a good project without quality is also useless, it does look good but not having a future is also useless. Good projects, quality, potential and have a future that will survive. A good project and having quality coins will have a future.

1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?
2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

The market began to move even though it was not too significant. Some Ico projects have also achieved good prices when listing on the market, most of them have only reached 25-50% of ICo prices. For me this is pretty good progress, I am starting to be optimistic that after this the market will improve.
1. It could be, everything can happen, of course depending on each project and market acceptance
2. Yes, of course that can happen. If the new coin is potential and the community created is good
3. I am not interested in Ico, for me, the risk is quite large

So I don't know what criteria you used to work out these definitions about old coins and new coins, but I need to disagree with you because everything after 2015 is considered new coins. 2015 was a time when Bitcoin cost $200 and up to that time there had been 3 cycles of bear-bull markets.

-There is a possibility that altcoin can reach this price, but with a note that the price of Bitcoin also rises very high because the altcoin price will always follow the price of Bitcoin.
-I don't think it will have a big impact with the number of new ICO coins coming out because there are also many ICO coins that are dead and don't have good prices.
- I better hold old coins because it has become a good and safe investment tool because prices will also be stable.

Most of the old coins now are more potential compared to the new now. Because before the purposes of the coin was created to help people earn for us sake. But now the purposes of the new coin is to earn millions dollars the team and the founder of the coin so it wi affected the price because once the value increase the team who are held a lot of coins will sell their coins to make the value of the coin dump.

yes that is true, so you have to research and find out about the project.
not all new or old coins are bad so we need to look for their vices and advantages so that we can understand them.
indeed, many old coins have proven good quality and good potential so that they can be strong to grow and they can be profitable.

Not so many old coins still exist at this moment and you can see that how the first altcoin that called filecoin can't evne compete with new coin and remember dogecoin has been doing the same thing like file coin. Peopel are trying to choose the coin which was giving them a lot of usefulness.

While some old projects are struggling to stay alive and afloat. Some projects are even temporarily on hold waiting on the bull market to inject more life into them. It goes both ways for both old and new projects. The most important thing is to key into coins with great prospect, either old or new.

Some potential coins has been on the downside due to market situation not only wether its new or old but the thing we need to do is to find those potential new coins and possibly earn with it if the market hit the bull again. And we must also know that their are old coins who became scam or been failed on the long run so choose wisely according to our decision together with critical researching on vital information.

With the prestige and foundation that has been built for a long time, the old coin is really an extremely good place for investment because the new coins have so many similarities with the old coin, the development and community are very weak while the old coins always have steady development from community to developers. That's enough for us to determine which object we should choose, I don't deny that the new coin still has some very good but the rate for us to choose correctly is very low, not safe

I think there is nothing wrong with old coins, it is just the sentiment towards the 2017-2018 ICO craze now is too negative and everybody is expecting STO tokens and what they will bring on the table. This is probably the time to try to find some goldies in the oldies.

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

Before I sell my old coins to purchase the new ones, I must be totally convinced that the new coin project is good. It will be too risky throwing away your valuable coins for a new one that may just pump and dump completely and the owners abandon it. This is most common with the new coins now.

Old coins are the foundations, weve seen the ones that will survive for a long time to come like Ripple, LTC, l would say coins like eth are in the middle in terms of age. but then we come to new coins and tokens like Tron which is doing quite well and has a price chart not resembling BTC, and upcoming tokens like XAUp which i find really interesting, haven't seen many legit real value backed coins/tokens.

The fact is that the situation on the cryptocurrency market is very bad, and a large number of scammers on the ico market frighten investors. That is why no project can put together a soft cap, Not to mention a hard cap. All investors now prefer to buy coins on the exchange after listing.

In my opinion, new coins are more profitable than those that were released in 2017 and early 2018. Old coins have lost in price up to 99% of their value and I think they are unlikely to recover to their highest values in the near future. Just imagine, if the price of a token dropped from $ 100 to $ 1, then to return to its ATH this token needs to grow 100 times. In my opinion it is unrealistic in the current conditions. At the same time, new tokens  fall on average by 20% - 40%, which is more acceptable from the investment point of view.

actually not much different when we want to invest and trade with new coins or old coins, only the most important thing is how coins develop. to get a lot of profit, of course, requires reality not only because of the loyalty of the coin, if it is worth catching up immediately and when there is a gap in the sale, of course, sell right away. it talks about profit, not just waiting.

There are many old coins that are already incapable of anything and, roughly speaking, investors understand that their investments have already been lost. So not all old coins are good for investing. I think that it is better to analyze a few coins from the top 100 and choose for yourself a few. This will be a more reliable option.

I do not trust the new coins. It seems to me that these projects are much weaker than those that were able to survive during the long period of market decline.

Whether new or old, the most important thing is having a use case or working products. Yes, old coins have experienced a lot and those that survived shows they are good, but nevertheless any new coin with working product or use case will surly stand the test of time.

not all new coins have a weak project, some new projects also have very good developments and have a very strong concept that makes ico prices very expensive, my advice for ico is better to enter in ico that does not use bounty participants for their strategies, because it usually makes prices fall.

For me, the less risk the better, so I choose already proven assets to trade or hold. But I not say that new coins bad

I am agree, new coin like HOT, LTO have good prospect in the future. With many development in crypto, i think new coin have a chance to survive. Perhaps many people trauma because many new coin are pump and dump coin and show no progress on the project

It is difficult for me to find at least one project that could be compared with the old ones . Maybe I just don't know.

In my point of view old coins is more profitable and legitimate than the new coins  because its really hard to find a project that trusted for so many years but like what other said most ico project that launched last years are scam so must better to make assurance and go for old coins, but sometimes some new coins are become gem that bring you a good profit.

Between the old coin and the new coin I prefer the old coin, in my opinion the old coin has the potential to be made an investment and certainly more widely known than the new coin, but for a new coin if the development is good, certainly there are many supporters in the future

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

I think bitcoin is also a factor to the success of these coins? Would you mind thinking what cryptocurrency is used to buy and invest? If I'm not mistaken, it was bitcoin that is primarily used.

I have already hold most of my assets on exchanges and still planning to hold them until next bull run comes or I get my expected price to sell. Do not know when bull run come, but I have patience to wait for that.

I think there is a number of promising new coins that can compete with the traditional ones
For example Grin https://cmc.io/coins/grin and BEAM https://cmc.io/coins/beam, EOS https://cmc.io/coins/eos and Ark https://cmc.io/coins/ark
And some really interesting ones like BitTorrent https://cmc.io/coins/bittorrent and Thrive https://cmc.io/coins/thrive-token
So it will be very interesting to look at what will happen next  ;)

My choice is still the old coins. ICO projects are now really dead and there are very few successful ICO projects. I think it will soon be replaced by STO and IEO. I will be willing to sell the old money to invest in the IEO because now is the trend of investment and it is easy to make a profit.

I believe the crash was partly due to the large amount of shitcoins being incredibly overvalued, and this will be what prevents the next bullrun until like 95% of today's coins are worth next to nothing.
so many small, niche coins or just copies of other coins being worth billions..
The crash was set by banks to save their gains:
The problem was to set up the possiblity to bet on falling price of BTC. in combination with a market that had rised too fast it was the beginning of the end.
Secound problem even for people involved in crypto: scam exit or maybe hacked exchanges.
I paid listing for my coin at 7 exchanges, 3 of them are alive

Small coins are forks of bigger one ok but are not always ICO.
Look at small coins like HTH, KYD or RESQ. They may have dropping prices at the moment but they have an idea and I think thats important.
Even coins like MIC3 as fun coin have their "be there authorisation": Its like playing farmville with trading a coin.

Althought there have been real shitcoins I invested: My "favorite" scam is REEF is lost 500 Dollar

So be careful for invest, but also invest in small coin

I noticed that all successful new coins are doing good than some old ones, most old coins are just created then to make instant profit and since they have no more value they're dead, even though scam project are more common these days than back then.

you are right. a lot of coins used to still exist, and have a high price when listing to the market. well, we don't know the effect of a project or not. however, I think the development of old coins is faster than the coins currently available.

The new coins are certainly more likely to succeed than than many old, and this is connected primarily with the fact that for 1 year of market decline and longer, many of the projects have tsantili their collected money to Razvitie industry, and salaries and so on,plus the air fell by more than 10 times, and many of scarpati kept the money in the air,so that newcomers have more chances to survive until the long-awaited market growth, and thus before the dawn of the industry!

if successful, of course it is better, but the question is whether new coins will survive if there is a bearish storm later, like old coins that have been proven to be able to survive, even though the value is declining, but at least they are not extinct.

for question number 2 I will answer. yes, because some people who have the knowledge of learning about the advantages of an altcoin project, they save it for more than a month, waiting for ath to arrive

My take on these questions:
1. Many altcoins should hit ATH again but not all.
2. There is always room in the market for any new and great projects.
3. I will hold on to old coins that are good or top ranked and invest in ICOs from new funds mostly.

No, not one token will not be able to beat a bitcoin record of twenty thousand dollars. He has reached such a price due to his great popularity. No other cryptocurrency will become so popular.

For me I would go with the old coins since they already have a value and they already prove their worth,
They would be with us for a long run unlike those new crypto that doesn't have a value and isn't sure if they would be listed.

I concur, even envisaging that any altcoin will get that high is kinda funny, even for the bitcoin to get back to that price would be a miracle.
New coins as you put it are struggling to cope simply because the old coin bitcoin is low at this time, the market needs to recover first before we can begin to make any of such decisions listed in the op.

not all old coins proved to be of value , a lot of old coins went down price and could just disappear , for me it depends on how much the trader likes the coin and over time the coin will pump own

Good questions for 2019 I would rather combine both old coins and plus some trusted new coins. I see the advantage of old coins that they have already got enough money for their development and at this bear market condition they would be able to mostly finish their development. These good old coins waiting for a new bull run for new ATH values. On the other hand new coins on these bear condition is very undervalued they may have a huge split on prices.

You should open coinmarketcap. there are coins that are more expensive than bitcoin. but it's not about cost but about capitalization

I agree with you. Now new projects appear in such a difficult period for the market and they really want to bring new technologies to the world.
