Why do we need kids? This planet is getting over populated already!

Most contemporary estimates for the carrying capacity of the Earth under existing conditions are between 4 billion and 16 billion. Depending on which estimate is used, human overpopulation may or may not have already occurred. Nevertheless, the rapid recent increase in human population is causing some concern.

David Attenborough described the level of human population on the planet as a multiplier of all other environmental problems In 2013, he described humanity as "a plague on the Earth" that needs to be controlled by limiting population growth.

And why do we need men? Weird question. Constant wars and diseases will clean up unnecessary people and there will be a balance in the world.

I find it strange that people keep making kids even when they cannot support them. In the impoversed countries we have tens of millions of people added every year. The western countries can only help to a certain point. Eventually these increases will lead to catastrophe that no one is going to be able to stop.

Don't worry, my friend, the American military will just keep killing militants (and they'll keep killing each other) and all will be right with the world.

It is necessary to simply forbid to give birth to children to those people who can not provide the child. And do not prohibit abortions, because many parents then abandon their children.

Good answer, it's advisable not to have a wife or child if you can't afford the full responsibilities in the modern world e.d. good food, education, health, cloths, and shelter e.t.c. because without taking care of your child then they'll become the victim of the current world abuse... Like drug trafficking or the worst terrorism!

Why do you need to develop some plans. The worse people live, the less children they have. The only exceptions are those Nations who have poor health and have children to old age to exploit them. In developed countries the birth rate is falling.

Yes, that's what everyone suppose to be doing which birth control. Giving birth unnecessarily is what leads to so many problems in the future. At least before you get a child make you have proper plan for him/her like shelter, food, cloths, medicine and good education. Without providing necessary things your child, your child may become a victim of child abuse. Drug trafficking and terrorism is usually conducted by those people who are normally affected by child abuse.    

I't is natural to have all :  woman, man and child...  It is not normal have gay people, or to many war's and people who want to steal on legal term somebody else happiness.

Well that is why we have World War for. When population comes to a certain level, there is always some greedy motherf....r who want to rule all. And in that moment we start bringing down world population :D . Good side of World War don't you think. Yes planet is overpopulated but only from side of certain people like China. There are other places that dies because of bigger death rate than birth rate.

Its not over populated yet. Australia has more kangaroos than humans. We don't see people living permanently in the middle of the pacific on a house like the bajaos. Its not yet over populated. Once we see we are starting to consider eating insect like cockroaches that when you can say its over populated.

We have to do something about the overpopulation. The question is just: What should we do?

all we have to do is make everyone richer. the more money you get, the less kids you have.

Don't worry about over population... Mother nature will take care of that with Natural disasters or Plague.

It is time to creat some colonies in the Moon and after that, colonize Mars.

Great Idea here, I heard "Elon Musk" started building colonies already on Mars.

There are several billion "humans" who have failed to join civilization in the last 4,000 years. Now, all at once, they are discovering what they have been missing and flocking to the societies which were built by the hard work of others: demanding equality.

I sincerely do not consider those types of people to be human but a sort of pre-human ancestor who are biologically very similar but distinguishable by their lack of education and unsophisticated use of tools.


So, I would say we aren't really over-populated per say but we have an over-abundance of "useless" human beings who lack the heredity disposition and access to information required to one day be of use to global society at large. More power to the people who manage to learn and become successful out of these backgrounds but the facts are that those individuals are statistical anomalies.

The liberal approach is that every human has inherent value regardless of who they are or where they came from. I do not subscribe to this. Instead I believe that every human is no more significant universally than a gnat. We are all equally inconsequential to the universe and the only way to transcend that uselessness is referential to the activities of the human economy. It may seem callous but unfortunately it is the truth.

When organizations enable the survival of those "humans" who would otherwise die to disease or famine or whatever: they are interfering with natural selection and making us weaker as a result. Poor, under-educated humans give birth to more poor, under-educated humans. It is a vicious cycle.

Those who are incapable of forming self-sufficient societies after thousands of years of advanced civilization have failed to adapt and deserve their misfortunes.

Agreed with you 100% on your point of view, but the issue of overpopulation may affect everyone's life in the near future because "Human Overpopulation" may affect the weather and our global climate conditions. Overpopulation will also produce more CO2 "Carbon Dioxide" to atmosphere to increase global warming and with more people on this planet there will be more industrial pollution e.g. CO2, chemical waste and CO "Carbon Monoxide" which may lead to air poisoning. More people will require more industries which will produce more pollution that may lead to more global warning and other disasters alike!

Exactly. While I truly believe if humanity was firing on all cylinders and efficiently utilizing our resources we could sustain probably double our current global population, we simply aren't organized enough.

I applaud Elon Musk's huge factory thing. He claims 20-50 (I forget how many) of those factories could sustain the entire planet. That's awesome, but it sounds too good to be true.

The ability of irrational non-self motivated actors to inflict untold suffering has been demonstrated time and time again. In the last 365 days 10 or so people have likely killed 1000+ combined. One huge risk of a rising population with greater wealth disparity I see is that the frequency of homicidal maniacs enraged that they feel left behind will increase dramatically. . . . I've been saying that since 2010 or so.

we are already overpopulated.. however, it doesn't mean that we don't need women and kids.. what we need is a program for family planning.. to help us maintain our population in an average rate.. although not all people agreed with it.. cause some people aren't really aware or doesn't pay attention to their community.. :D

Great insight, our communities needs a program to help people understand the effect of human overpopulation and what are the consequences if not proper measure are taken to prevent it!  

The earth is not near over-population. Consider. Global warming will warm up Northern Canada and Siberia. It will melt the ice caps giving much more fresh water to all people. The Antarctic lands will warm up enough to live there. Even though the coastal lands will be flooded, much more will be gained in Canada, Siberia, Antarctica, and even the Sahara will become a lush, almost tropical, farmland.

The earth is beginning to have room for billions more.

Women are designed to make children. They like the idea (most of them, anyway). And they are fun to make children with. Keep the women and children.

Nature will without any doubt take care of over population once it becomes a problem :)

Why would nature care about the problems of overpopulation? If people have nothing to eat they will not reproduce or their children will die from hunger. In civilized countries, birth control is living conditions. Than it is worse the lower the birth rate.

Without women and kids, there would be no more future generations.

I don't agree with the part: women and kids. It is not about those, it is about population. Big companies are about to kick peasants out and replace them with robots. It will happen sooner or later. What will they do then? All those starving people will create a riot. Rich people are going to get their share from this mess also. Everybody's gonna pay for making kids more than they can handle.

Why to we vaccinate people? Why are we trying to prevent diseases? Why anything? It will balance out eventually, there's some thing to happen to lower that number of 7bil.

Without jobs people will not. Even the best robot is always in need of prevention and repair. The peasants will service those robots who work on the ground. Just as it is now served by tractors and harvesters.

You'll need 2-5 (let's make it 10 because I am in good mood) person to repair/maintenance 1000 robots. Those 1000 robots will kick out at least 1000 peasants. Those 1000 jobless people and their kids/wives equals at least 4000 trash people. The world won't need those people anymore. They will become absolutely worthless.

You are right and that is happening now. There are more and more people that stay out of work because of progression of technology. But That is bound to happen, and i am happy because of progression of technology. Some thing that we did not think its possible 10 years ago, now it is. No one can stop progression of technology, but that also brings new working places and now way of doing things. People will always find something new. One day we will go to other plants and live there.

Nature doesn't care. It does its job automatically.    8)

Let's see if we can't transition to the point where robots do all the jobs. People all go on welfare. They collect a $million times as much. Robots do all the work for free. People live a life of luxury because robots do everything for them. People travel, go to the beach, hike and ski, have nice mansions to live in, even work some if they want. Robots do it all for them for free.

Why should I stop millions of years evolution and die out, just because other people who don`t care about nature and over population have one child every year?
Yes, if I would think that way, nature would select me out because of thinking that way and I would deserve that.

Yes, on some part you are right. But if you look at poor countries, you will find that birth rate is up. I do not know why people do this, but it seams the poorer you get more children you should have, and i mean children are blessing and real fortune. But why people do this, when they know they are poor, and not sure if they will have what it take to feed there children. It happens all the time with Gypsies.

When the over population becomes a real issue, the nature will take care of it. As it has always done.

Yes, Indeed! Giving birth to too kids is not as useful as it was used to be in the fast because Robots are going to be doing all the jobs for us in few years from now. so, why giving birth to too many kids that would grow up without a purpose that's just an environmental pollution too ;D

I do not think that nature will take care of problem, because before nature could do anything i think it will be destroyed by humans. We already are doing that, and nature do not fight back, well not yet i think. But even if it fight back, humans will find new way to live and to conquer it. We will be the end of human race, if we do not control our self.

Up with global warming! So that we can open up the lands of Canada, Siberia, and Antarctica for more population. Even the Sahara would become a lush, tropical playground if there was more moisture in the atmosphere.

And side benefits of more atmospheric moisture would be, more H2O2 in the atmosphere, automatically killing off all kinds of bugs (bacterial and viral)... and much greater protection from solar radiation so that people could live longer because they weren't killed by mutations in their genes caused by radiation.

50 years ago 4 billion people lived on our planet, now we're almost 8 billions! It means it took billions of years to reach the first 4 billion people and only 50 years to add the same amount of people. This is astonishing!

This is the worst problem on Earth nowadays. Every other problem comes from it.

I see this problem is mostly because of Indian sub-continent people, in places like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan. While in China and Japan in the last few years this problem has reduced.

Now, I don't want to insult Indian people. I knew lots of Deshi, Paki and Indian people and they were all nice and cool guys, good workers and great programmers. I'm not againts you!

But I just want to ask you: "Why don't you use a condom?"
We all love make sex, but for Earth's sake, use fucking condoms! You are ruining this world!

Besides condoms, there are other ways to decrease human population:

- Wars: classic but very unpleasant one. Hope it won't happen.
- Plagues and epidemies: very unpleasant too.
- Taxes to new births. This is something opposite to what usually happen. Often, governments use to "reward" parents who make kids. Instead, in my opinion, governments should start to tax them.
- Gay people. The more gay people the less kids. Obviously they shouldn't adopt children.

I don't think we're over-populated yet. There're more than a few countries that can fit in a few hundred more millions of people in my opinion.

Anyway, kids are the future generation for the advancement of our species. So that's gotta mean something.

We are over populated already, but the majority of adults want to have at least one child, simply because it's part of our nature to live and multiply. So it would be pretty difficult to just say people can't have kids no more.

Then Answer the question Why do the trees bear fruit? Why animals are born? Even if you do not take into account the fact that nature herself has laid in us, Answer the question What is the meaning of life then in general? Why does man need life? The problem of overpopulation concept exists there are really so many problems and so much is enough and the fault is most people.

If you are old enough, you might get a chance to participate in Social Security. But it will be gone in a few years, because of Government bungling. You need kids who love you to take care of you when you grow old.

The key is in the balance.

It is certainly an important reason, but it seems to me that the main reason that we are not eternal, and someone needs to correct our mistakes. Children are needed for this. We never took care of our land. The man deflates and destroys the oil, cut down the forest, poisoning the environment. Our children will create new technologies to restore the environment.

Yeah, it is certainly nice to have kids that can take care of you when you get older. A certain number of kids are definitely needed and I don't think any government's should dictate how many each person can have.

People like making kids because it is fun while you are making them. Then you just leave the woman and run.

It's not the entire world that gets overpopulated but certain regions of it. East Asia and Africa to be exact. The country where I live has no such a problem so this doesn't affect me to any extent. Tell me forking what - why should I quit the dream of having a kid JUST because some zealous africans give birth to 10 children each.

Kids are a gift from the god. It is a criminal offense not to have children.

I am not sure that you got that right mate. I mean about getting children that is. How can children be a gift from a god when we all know how kids are made? I think God has noting to do with that, maybe for some people it is easier to blame it on God i guess. But i do think that people should have children if possible, i do not understand people who say they do not want children...

I get the point of the question. People say that without young people, there won't be enough labor to do the work involved in keeping everything running while some people become too old. The catch 22 is that at some point there will be too many people on the earth unless birth rates decline.

Kids are our future they are the one who will be the successor  and future doctors, engineers, etc. At the same time we need them because at the end of the day they are the one who will take care of us when we get old. So we need to teach them and give all the knowledge that they needs to know for them to survive in the reality of this world. No one should give up with these beautiful creature because if we love them while they are still young it will retain and love us back.

You do not need to control anyone. War, alcohol, drugs, poor nutrition, stress and illnesses themselves will shed many people.

Wow, great analysis here... by saying rich countries has small number of new born babies and poor countries has high number of new born. So, what do you think of countries like U.S, China, and Japan these are all highly developed "rich countries" don't you think they are little getting overpopulated and one day that would eventually become a problem?

I don't think you understand the point of our discussion here my friend, we're trying to discuss the problem of our planet getting overpopulated gradually, gradually... We are not totally against giving birth to new born babies rather not to populate our beautiful planet with too many human beings :)
