Why are people still so convinced about this?

Bitcoin is great, we learned a lot of it. Without Bitcoin we wouldn't have those other cryptocurrencies.
But just because Bitcoin is the pioneer doesn't mean it can't be replaced.
Bitcoin Cash is just a clone with bigger blocks, this will only solve the problem temporarely. So forget about it.

It's clear that Bitcoin isn't the best coin anymore. Problem is because of all this hype there is a lot of new dumb money that only see Bitcoin's insane price growth. That kind of people that leave their money on Coinbase is what I'm talking about (for long term).

If people would look at things more objectlively things wouldn't have gone this way.
I'm not naming other coins because I don't wanna make this a pump post.

Too much dumb investors these days.. Bitcoin is no longer useable in a normal way but noobs will never realize because they never make a transaction to their own wallets because they don't even know it's decentralized and stuff...

I hope Bitcoin will fail soon. It has had enough time to be adapted to its use of today. Why can't Bitcoin be as good as other and better crypto's? I have no idea. But in my eyes it's already game over for Bitcoin.
I know theres gonna be a lot of fanboy hate coming to this post. Don't make them ruin this topic please.

I agree with most of your points, but not because dumb money is pumping up the price it doesn't mean that bitcoin can't be great. Also, sure, we're definitely currently having a big scaling problem. But who's to say that this won't be fixed in the future? I'm very very upset with bitcoin's current situation, but I'm still a believer; no matter how cringey that sounds. I respect your opinion and your decision though.

Thank you, I'm not hating. The reason I say this is because it has had more than enough time to adapt. Don't exactly understand why tbh... But if you look at the TPS (Transactions per second.) it's clear that other crypto's are much faster

Sure, other crypto's are faster. But in exchange, most cryptocurrencies are more decentralized, and are more prone to attacks.

I got to say that you are making a very good choice by atleast not simply adopting BCH instead of BTC. BTC dominance is decreasing day by day but BCH is not really the best solution. Moreover after the recent Ethereum network congestion its quite clear that even ETH is no more a coin that can be trusted for mass adoption. People say IOTA, XRP but I think there is no crypto which can be trusted for a mass adoption.

4 days now since my 320$ unconfirmed, paid 10$ fee which was crazy high fee last week. Whatever... glad i cashed out my bulk of it.

well you're right at some point. There arw noobs investors these days and i think those noobs are new in crypto. But i still wish bitcoin will still supreme all altcoins and one day it will goes up that much.

I remember once paying 0 satoshi (Changed the fee in Blockchain.info). Because I didn't wanna pay. It took a day. Those were the good old times lol.

Off course it's not recommended but in my case I didn't need speed for it. And then theres sites where you can sell Bitcoin by depositing in their given Bitcoin address for only 10 minutes. I have many times missed the deadline and had to ask my money back! Even though I paid a premium fee of 4$ (back then). This was already a problem way ago...

Thats why we should all move to IOTA. This technology is awesome and the more people use it the faster and better it gets.

I share some of the views, however I believe that the fall of Bitcion will lead to a confidence shock across the whole ecosystem.  Unless it occurs very gradually as others rise up.  Right now there is a 3-4x capitalisation gap between BTC and ETH, and I dont even think ETH is the answer with its own issues going on.  If you lost half the market value of Bitcoin in say 3 months, thats going to burn through a lot of holders and scare the newcomers.  On the other hand, this may be very healthy for the ecosystem, with the strong coming through, those with genuine utility and not just clones and experiments.  Like the dotcom crash thinned the herd and we're left with companies larger than the old world industries. The further Bitcoin goes up, the hard the fall when it does come down, which it will do as all assets and economies have crashes from time to time.

I did not intend to make this a post to give other people a chance to pump their coin, but nice try...

Only thing Bitcoin is good for is to be pumped and then when the money flows into altcoins I'm happy like today and yesterday..

Not an investor, just an old user, miss when 0.1btc was worth 40$, trans speed high and low fee.

Luckily i coughed up the 45$ fees for my other 330 transfer and the bigger ammount was sent few days ago when it atill was not as bad. I see these high fees unavoidable from now on, mempool doesnt look to be going anywhere for the last 2 weeks.

Yes, that doesn't mean it wont "break" at some point there is a huge pile of unconfirmed transactions right now.

It's true :)) At the moment, exchange all Bitcoin to other altcoin is better option for all trader and Bitcoin holder cause Bitcoin price is going down very quickly but all other altcoin price are increasing really fast. This is the best time for people to get more profit by trading altcoin :)). Maybe Bitcoin is too old to be king of cryptocurrency, maybe it's time for other cryptocurrency to become a new king :)

It's a good job I'm a Gemini, I can understand the concept of using more than one crypto coin. It's pretty obvious that Bitcoin has become a store of wealth, and it will take a lot to shake it off that perch. Thankfully there are other coins around to deal with the minor chores like buying hamburgers.

Dropping from 19.600$ to 15.600$ in just 48 hours clear shows Bitcoin is not a store of wealth. That seems more like storing water in a bucket with a hole in it.

true but dropping from pennies to over 10k is impressive btc has been declared dead many times, perhaps this is it, or perhaps not.

All investments are speculative. For example, I bought some shares at 2pence some years ago, they climbed up to 18 pence fairly quickly, and I maded the mistake of waiting for them to go to 20 pence, as that would have given me enough profit to buy another house. They then took a dive, and I managed to get out at 8 pence. Shortly afterwards the company went into liquidation, and the shares were worth nothing.

You have to watch the timing, and buy for the long term unless you are day trading or speculating.

solved some of the scaling problems and people simply ignore that. The Core team took it a step further and are working on the

Believers - yes you are correct.  Clever investors - no. Investors will not only look at the technology, they will also neutrally look at whether the price has any reasonable match with the product. And clearly we are now seeing just how poorly Bitcoin handles scaling, how poorly it acts as a store of value and how useless it is as a form of payment. Believers will HODL, while investors with GTHO (Get The Hell Out).

i am a beginner and i do not invest on bitcon but on alt crypto currency because i see very high bitcoin graphics which make myself think harder to start all this and more alt crypto currency.

Its true that bitcoin is mostly dumped nowadays.Once lightning network gets activated,all transaction issues would get solved and bitcoin would get used as a currency for payment.

You have not suggested any alternate for bitcoin and have just escaped by saying that you don't want to pump any other coin.But i would say that there is no substitute for bitcoin.I hope that even in future no other coin would face such critical conditions which bitcoin has faced and surpassed successfully.

So why are services not using SegWit?  Why will they use Lighting if/when its deployed?  Talking about this solutions is little different to pumping another coin in top 50, promises unfulfilled.  Developers aren't going to push and drive use of those features. I dont know why, but there's clearly a problem as evidenced by the tx fee (940... 940/byte as i right this).   No point calling bullshit on people telling you the house is on fire, ask where the fire is and look for a firehose.

Yes, I agree with some of what you say, I think a lot of "investors" are just here for the price, here for the fiat profit. They're not interested in actually using Bitcoin, never been and never will. Most of them just have numbers on Coinbase, will never actually send a single satoshi. And now with futures and what not coming up, you can even bet on price without ever needing to touch crypto.

It won't fail soon, if it will. There are enough users and community people who were here long before price and mempool became hot topics, and they'll be here long after people move on to other cryptos, if that happens. Feel free to move on, you don't even really need to say goodbye, you know :)

While I disagree with OP that this is the end for bitcoin, I think we will recover from here. What's nice to see is that people are able to exit bitcoin right now and be in a much better position than the used to be. Positive stories will always attract more interest.

It is sad for me for the Bitcoin to be on this kind of situation. But i think this is the best time to explore other cryptocurrencies which are clearly better than the Bitcoin as of the moment. At least the Bitcoin made us realize that everything is possible. What i mean is every cryptocurrency could also sky rocket and i hope someday at least one of the other cryptocurrency would fix what's the Bitcoin did not tackle with less dumb people and newbie fanboys.

Bitcoin is going down but in my opinion, if you are holding a bitcoin, do not worry too much because the bitcoin will rise again because I think this is profit taking activity for investors to prepare for the upcoming Christmas. Watch the market calmly, do not worry too much now that is not good for trader.

Yes bitcoin has some problems today because of network congestion and high transaction fee that's why there are other coins that can be an option to use as daily currency as it is impossible for bitcoin now to be such. If you chose to let go then it is your choice but for as long as bitcoin is one of the base currency in the cryptoworld then money will continue to flow in it. Another coin may take over the throne of bitcoin eventually but for as long as it is profitable then I will not let go of it.

I tend to agree, the transaction fees and the transaction confirmation times is getting ridiculous and unsustainable. I use 642.916 sat/B for my transaction it has not been confirmed for 27 hours.

People can use 1 single thing for many purposes. Internet is a good example. Some people use it for learning, some use it for making money, some use for communication etc. Crypto currencies are the same, some people use them as currencies, some accumulating them as gold/diamond. I dont hope BTC or any crypto to fail because many people will be impacted seriously.

bitcoin had walk a long road already starting from low to big and now because it is dumping you said that it is failing. by the way nothing new about this topic and i have already read lot of them. and also you have less power compared to the previous criticizer of bitcoin which are rich/powerful people.

Same here, I have an incoming 0.0017 BTC and it's almost 48+ hours but the transaction isn't completed yet. I thought that I was the only one experiencing this since I'm away from my desktop these past few days. Yes, It's really frustrating and giving me such stress, especially this holiday season as most of my sideline jobs are paying in BTC. Well, this situation is understandable for this kind of circumstances and I just hope that things will get back to normal once Christmas is over. If this will continue, then we will be having a big problem and we might see the downfall of Bitcoin soon.

This post is kinda funny, because :
1. This is only your impression and a fruit of your thinking proccess. It only matters to you. So why do you want people to move on too? Just move on yourself. What? You afraid if you make a mistake alone so you persuade people to leave bitcoin?
2. Not pumping other coin? Then why do you mention BCH not other coins? and in the next line you mention " why cant bitcoin be as good as other and better crypto? Not only you bashing and lowering bitcoin, it is indeed you pumping other coin (maybe bch) by persuading people to shift into other coins.
3. Problem isnt solved in a day, such as Rome wasnt build in a day. Correct me if im wrong, even gold has its down price a lot, from 1889 usd to 1000++, and not to mention it is hard to transfer gold, security, fees to make it come acrross country etc. Yet gold is still favorited till nowadays. And you re missing the point that this week till 2018 is a holiday season, of course it is natural that the market will be full of transaction and it will make the transaction fees rise. We just need to wait for the update and solution to this problem.

I am no fan of the transaction times.. but lets be serious  Does bitcoin really need to replace cash be successful ? Last I checked international wire fees can run upwards of $50 for any amount , I can buy bitcoin, send it international and convert it back to fiat for less that a Swift Transaction in half the time... and last I check most of the money in the world moves in big chunks.. small transactions all occur on consumer credit cards these days..

Maybe bitcoin cash or other alts will be used as a replacement for cash or plastic... but that really doesn't have to effect bitcoin.... no matter how annoying it is to have to wait more than an hour to transfer money...

you see, that is the problem. there are no coins which we can consider better than bitcoin. there are some that come close but when you look deeper you can see most of it is illusion.

because bitcoin is used and those altcoins aren't!
it is actually as simple as that. the same as bitcoin cash you mentioned above, yourself. if 99% of those altcoins were used as much as bitcoin, they would be starting to show the same symptoms and in some cases even worse ones.

As per the recent past variation of the market, what I understood is BTC is becoming just another coin. You could have missed a big opportunity if you keep all your money in BTC. The market and people have become smarter than before and they change their investment quickly and make quick and big profits. 

This kind of action very bad for the users, not for bitcoin. Bitcoin is very strong currency now and have a lot of users all over the world. If some one say good buy to bitcoin it will not good for him because his regular way of the income will close for ever if he not come back. While bitcoin will rise again it many more user will join the bitcoin they will also make invest and trade in bitcoin. But the person who say good by to bitcoin will lost more.

To have to say goodbye to Bitcoin after all these time, highlights an underlying frustration and unrealized  dreams and that are uncalled for except for too much expectations from something one isn't in control of. A point of order here is that every altcoin out there is in competition with Bitcoin and because they  haven't solved any major problem Bitcoin didn't,  their place continues to tag behind Bitcoin.  

2017 will be remembered as a year of putting the records straight for Bitcoin and now that battles have been fought and won, going forward would be the ample  time for elvoving and consolidation just  like every great feat known to man. The entire picture have  never been immediately obvious, but the signs so apparent, though only few eyes are able to see them.

The Bitcoin blockchain, despite its imperfections, is the most secure blockchain there is to day, and it can evolve.
All other coins would crumble if they faced the same circumstances that Bitcoin is currently facing.

Bitcoin can't evolve as fast as other coins because there are no centralized entities to make decisions for it and thus everyone has to reach consensus to move forward or nothing happens. It took us a year to get SegWit and services aren't even adopting it.

If let's say Litecoin was the #1 coin, there would still be interests and politics involved just as there is with Bitcoin today.

Should people start to switch to other coins, Bitcoin's transactions will drop and so will the fees, thus the problem solves itself and people come back to it.

We don't have a better alternative. Those faster coins either don't have the scale or security of the bitcoin to compare.

It's best to let go than waiting and hoping for something that may not come. Good decision.

I really am a big fan of bitcoin. I admit it. It just amazed me so much. As much as the people or the man behind it(since im not sure if satoshi is a man or a team).
I have stayed loyal to bitcoin since the the very first time i invested on it. But sad to say, op really has a point. I too see great alternative coins out there. If only bitcoin could adapt these other great coins innovative ideas and absorb it, that would make bitcoin more amazing as it is and unstoppable.

But still. I am not losing hope for bitcoin. It has overcome a lot of challenges in the past. Amd if it doesn't overcome this one, then it doesn't deserve the trust and faith that i and a lot of other people have put into it.

Sounds like you lost some $$ on the recent price drop and your upset about. Investing in btc is for the long haul,btc will take a huge plunge when China and Russia introduce their own crypto in the next 5yrs and outlaw other crypto’s Sure there’s plenty of problems with btc but in 10-15yrs most kinks will be worked out.

I know you have posted this as a reaction to the extreme dump of bitcoin right now. I am not disaggreeing because I also believe that it is time for other coins to shine. There are also several coins with potential that are not given the attention they deserve. Despite of the huge dump of bitcoin price, a lot still believes that it will recover after this holiday and honestly speaking I am one of them. But this does not mean that I am not open to other good coins. I hope everything will be fine and will have an open mind.

I didn't loose $$, I only lost in Bitcoin value because I mostly trade Crypto/BTC instead of Crypto/FIAT.
I didn't make this post because of the Bitcoin drop in $$ but because I am disappointed in many investors that jump on the hype train without learning about Blockchain. There are many people that "have" Bitcoin on sites like Coinbase that don't even know what a private key is! Imagine Coinbase being hacked: Bitcoins image would get a serious hit and people will blame Bitcoin for their losses "because it is unsafe" while it's their own fault by not learning about Bitcoin and backing up thier keys. The first investors in Bitcoin are much smarter I think and did it more out of an interest in technology instead of pure fiat profit.

In a way you are right there are many that will never move away from coinbase and try using bitcoin for transactions as we know the fee problem there just now does make it harder to use for daily usage. At some point something better will come along the problem with that is they are all trying to get to the same place as bitcoin.

Things are still in the development phase thus there is a huge (*too much) scope for the growth in my opinion.

Bitcoin is king because it showed us what is possible and paved the way for a lot of great altcoin projects that wouldn't have seen the light of day had it not been for Bitcoin. But you're right in that its not the best coin/currency, and yes - one day it will be replaced.

You can never avoid 'dumb money' though. Its always going to be there.
Like it or not, when most people hear cryptocurrency, they automatically think Bitcoin..
Don't forget, that in most cases Bitcoin is years ahead in PR and publicity (ie 'spreading the word') than most of the alternatives.
The market sees this as a 'tried and tested' crypto, as opposed to some of the newer (and yes, better) ones with no history.

The high price, forks and large transaction fees at first glance can easily be misinterpreted as negative.  When you take a closer look you will see the high price is from new investors.  This is monetary growth.  We live in a cash based society so this is necessary.  You can think of a Bitcoin fork as a birth of a Bitcoin like technology that can be useful in itself or for the information acquired during it existence.  You learn best by doing and here is much still to be learned about blockchain technology.  The large transaction fees are due to increased traffic and ignorance of Segwit protocol.  If you are using a wallet that has upgraded to the newest Core update you will experience a 30-40% reduction in fees.  Ignorance is will decrease if those who know about Bitcoin take time to share their knowledge with those who do not and those who do not seek to learn more.




I believe we can attribute the hyper inflated price of Bitcoin to emotional investors.  They do not want to miss an opportunity so they buy as quickly as possible.  This would not be a problem if they keep there Bitcoin but instead, because they trade with emotion rather than logic they panic sell when the price dips.  The greater the initial investment from emotional investors, the greater the price correction.

Quite reasonable points made. Even I agree to this. But you really think Bitcoin is sustaining its value because of utility? No. Bitcoin was never preferred to be a currency by investors. It is mere a store of value for people. People park their dollars in Bitcoin to grow their money. Most of the people don't really care about increasing fees because they hardly transact.

Utility wise Bitcoin is way behind many altcoins. But demand is still there because altcoin traders doesn't really care about utility here. Bitcoin has limited supply and maximum adoption which is increasing day by day due to massive popularity. Thus, a better way to grow money. That is enough a reason for investors to put their money in BTC.

It will get solved soon. I know that the lightning project has been in development for over a year, but it wouldn't be required if we got a block size upgrade, but unfortunately we didn't We got BCH, but IMO it's not a solution. I don't like people behind it and their attitude. I'm still holding a few coins though just in case as I don't like to burn my bridges, but my BTC holdings keep growing and it's the coin I've chosen to support.
If you're scared of BTC right now you can always hold fiat or fiat tokens and wait it out, but this drop will eventually lead to a nice recovery and that recovery will be pretty fast as it always is with BTC.

I can say that it "was" and it's not anymore, for the past few months there have been a mess in the bitcoin (network), we see lots of transactions, currently we have around 300k unconfirmed transaction and if we check the total fees for these then its around 350 BTC ($5.4m) meaning 1 BTC per 1k transactions.

I think Bitcoin has moved from an everyday cryptocurrency which is used to buy things to an investment coin and I doubt it will ever be used in a big way to buy things again because its price fluctuations are so huge compared to mainstream money. Maybe some of the other altcoins might do better as an actual currency rather than a try to get rich quick scheme which is now what bitcoins are all about.

There is no "Deal with it", it is just your opinion which most of us do not need. Just because Bitcoin dropped from $19k to $14k does not mean that it is gone, dead or anything. It is still better than the past years and if you invested a year ago, you can still make a heck of a profit. It will keep pumping when the problems are fixed.

I totally agree that bitcoin has ceased to be useful for practical purposes and has become a monument to the failed ideal of its creators. But the speculative markets are stubborn and I do not think they let die something that they are just beginning to know and can still generate profits.

Ain't we forgetting the conspiracy by those behind Bitcoin cash, Bi4coin Gold and also Segwet2x, which, likely are one and same people to spam attack the Bitcoin network with enormous low fee or substandard transactions, just to overload the network and make case for their arguments? Bitcoin Cash is a temporary alternative, never going to replace Bitcoin as a pioneer of cryptocurrency. The problem is a lot of transactions that are pending and unconfirmed, it's because the act of a deliberate person to spam the transaction, can be seen in block explorer many transactions 0 btc.

Delibirate or not. It has to deal with this kind of behaviour. In the real world there are a lot more transactions even without spam attacks on the Bitcoin network

Bitcoin is great because it is resilient & a bit predictable. It has gone through alot of challenges in a long time yet remains strong. It's more predictable than other Cryptocurrencies. Investors love resilience and the predictability.

 It's not really about technology. Infact, Altcoin technologies won't have serious affect on Bitcoin because of its market size and being the most resilient. On the other hand alittle tech upgrade for Bitcoin will seriously affect many crypcurrencies and a big upgrade could wipe many out of existence.

Most of the folks on here that would claim bitcoin purism actually dabble in alts on the side. that why they have such strong opinions, its from immersion :) moving on...

Ill name some names dammit. ETH. And any other coin with an independent block chain (none of these ERC20 tokens). the reason? there is no way in hell smart contracts are going to work as a layer on the Bitcoin block chain, given the level of congestion going on now with this low level of adoption. people are digging the trust less nature of these things, even though the trust of the entire scheme is only as good as the contract is coded. I digress. the coins designed to facilitate this will be the most valuable, esp the ones that are proposed as business solutions rather than end user products.

I semi like the concept of ETH with ETH being the network for distributing contracts (mini type of programs) and then charging "Gas" for hosting these programs
so that I could run a dirty as you like porn site (Joking) and no one could ever take it down but after looking at some of the code for these contracts it becomes
obvious that the scripting language (Java-script almost) is little more than a bean counter that runs on the network and allows you to store bean values in the block-chain so long as you keep paying "Gas" that must be paid for in ETH

Earning a bit of "Gas" by providing services to other ETH contracts that would allow them to validate credit card numbers via your service is not what
it is about (sad to say) because you are stuck with just talking within a closed system and cannot kick out using HTTP request and sockets to pull data
from the real world.

and then having public history for the event held within and mixed up with the ETH block chain but not much
good for anything else from what I could understand.

Bitcoin isn't going anywhere at least not today, there's a lot more to come. Its value might drop and some other coin might take over for sure but I don't think that will be considered as a main coin. Monero is annon I thinks, nothing wrong with them but be warned about Tor (Something i once loved)

Was running a dedicated machine that automated the Tor software to do some screen scrapping for me using

WannaCry encrypted my files on this machine and left me ransom notes all over the place in the file system asking for

That is indeed the truth, Bitcoin Cash is the cryptocurrency of the future and it is the real bitcoins in my opinion but since we are all in this to make money and nothing more, why don't we just invest in both of the strongest cryptocurrency in the first place and make some money.

Yes Bitcoin Cash solves the problem but this is only a temporary fix.

Do you really think everytime that more people actually start using Bitcoin we should just create another fork with even bigger blocks?
Forks are useless for a simple upgrade.

Upgrades should be made to Bitcoin itself. Otherwise we should just ditch it if it is useless.

Bitcoin made new avenues possible and the ride is really good and it is not that time to get out of it entirely,sure there are obstacles are more to over come and with this new found price high and valuation i think it is really difficult to overcome this phase without a struggle as there are more eyes and investors in bitcoin and these network delays will catch up to defame it ,hope everything settles for good.

Bitcoin cash is working great - with an 8mb block size, it will be years before it runs into the same problems Bitcoin has right now and the BCH teams can and will make changes long before that 8mb limit becomes a problem.

My feeling is that the crypto currencies we will be using in 5 years will not resemble what is currently on offer. Evolution will be fast and efficient. Cashing out of BTC and moving to other better tech stacks is such a great play right now for those sitting on silly profits.

Absolutely right, bitcoin price at the moment maybe a little bit scary because it's been a month in dip but I also still a believer of bitcoin and I can feel that bitcoin can cope up with whatever is happening right now. If bitcoin fail then so as all crypto currency because no one will still believe and willing to invest.

Many people talking about negative effect of bitcoin, maybe i think those people are only using and access bitcoin by way of posting bad idea about bitcoin. I think those people are one of competitor's cryptosystem, or any  opposites cryptocurrencies founders.

The future of payment systems will be something like MS-Coin, apple-coin or google-coin - or what do you think will happen to all the great ideas developed in all the enthusiastic open-source crypto-projects?

A government Blockchain 2.0 will make it easy for taxmen to audit all our money flow - other blockchains will audit every other aspect of your live.

But the bitcoin project will survive because of the anarchic core idea and it will always stay interesting even when the price is back to "normal" and paying in nanoseconds became a common standard.

i agree, bitcoin is no longer being used as a normal currency nowadays, it is used by big investors to pump and dump to bring profit for investors themself, also the disadvantages is out weight the advantages such as high fee and slow in transactions. so this is the time we prepare to invest in another coin.

Bitcoin is all it is. A coin. Not a whole lot of purpose. You are totally correct. And to boot. It's a coin that you can't really go out and spend anywhere really.
There was one big initial rush into it, now it will slow down a heck of a lot. It's really hard to break it down to use for every day purchases.

Too big, too much hype, bitcoin needs a rest. Due to its huge attached value, it cannot pumped as huge anymore. How about invest to other blockchain alternatives like IOTA and Cardano?

I've seem an increasing number of posts with this sentiment lately. The problem i have is that people keep saying bitcoin is dead or slow or expensive but they fail to consider the fact that bitcoin is continuing work in progress. There are devs that are constanntly working to ensure that we have a better bitcoin. AFAIK, the LN network is already ready. Instead of FUDding or own investmet we can do our part and promote bitcoin to our friends and family.

How can you possibly fathom all crypto currency failing if Bitcoin does.
Have you not looked into ANY of the companies behind the 500+ coins? And what they are doing for the world?

Get your reading glasses on boys, you're in for a LONG read and a bit of a rude awakening.
Bitcoin is 1 currency. It doesn't have a whole lot to it, other than it was the first coin.

Now you look at something like Siacoin, they're going to put Google and Amazon cloud storage out of business.
Not only that, any coin using Ethereum's Smart Contract can put all realestate agents out of a job.

There's a bit more behind these digital numbers than meets the eye. They serve more of a purpose than to just trade around in the Market.

I think that both of the above posters hate bitcoin and they just want to show bitcoin down.Bitcoin has already seen lots of haters like this but its still progressing.Bitcoin has seen lots of dips in the past and has recovered.When amazon soon accepts bitcoin payment,then a big difference could be seen.But lightning network has to be activated before that.

I also think that bitcoin's time comes to the end. It was a great beginning of cryptocurrency age, but it became outdated now.
