I think most people approach crypto in the wrong way. With "get rich quick" approach.

If you come to crypto with such an attitude, you should never ever invest.

On the other hand, if you actually had to earn it while doing whatever you are usually doing anyway, that involves money?

Examples:
You get crypto as a token of gratitude after making donation to some project. (crowdfunding)
or
You are paid crypto as a bonus to your salary.
or
... (any other examples come to your mind?)

Yeah they should treat crypto as another form of money, a digital money. But in crypto we have more opportunity to earn. Yes, in traditional money we can also earn by trading our national money thru forex exchanges but the movement of their prices is pretty stable unlike in crypto we can witness a huge increase, that is the opportunity everyone is waiting, you are correct it is not a get rich quick scheme it will not happen in just 1 day it needs time and patience.

It's a problem for new comers in crypto investment. Around mid 2017, a report on mass people showed that "Bitcoin is a thing where we can invest and earn money." I'm talking about my country situation. I'm sure most of the people from other country had the same attitude and still the newbies have. We are promoting crypto as investment rather than its ease of usage. If we discuss how convenient crypto is rather than discussing it as store of value, it may possible that the adoption would increase.

you can't blame these people because the webpages of the developers are always going to make someone expect the price could go to the roof.  bitcoin and altcoin speculation threads fuel the idea that one day their hundred $ investment could actually save them from becoming homeless. some are seriously putting all their faith when they read some user's signature saying "in crypto we trust"

There is an illusion that when you enter the world of crypto you can multiply in large amounts the money invested. We will not deny that this possibility exists but when analyzing the market we find an up and down pattern that accompanies a flow. So for you to multiply your investments, the project must follow a flow of adoption and variation and also your investment value must be considerable. Lack of knowledge is also a problem because it can lead to large losses or investments in malicious projects leading to major frustrations.

So you are saying that people should "earn" in crypto currencies rather than invest on it?/ Kinda sounds like you are saying people shouldn't buy it and they should just collect it, which sounds totally wrong. You should buy crypto currencies and investing on it is really a good option.
What you shouldn't do is invest to make profit over night. You shouldn't invest in it before getting to know more about crypto currencies. You shouldn't invest before learning about the risks and how the market works!

We all should participate in the crypto and blockchain industry as end users and potential businesses or developers that can add value to a project. Investors or speculators only care about profit so I do agree that we should approach this technology more from the utility perspective than the financial one.

But I do not agree with people should not invest in crypto. There are many rooms to be a successful investor in the crypto world if you can take it as a professional. as I said before crypto is not for him who thinks crypto is a tree of money. where we can easily take it. You have to think, research, learn before investment. then you could earn some profit from it. Otherwise, only earning is better.

Crypto isn't really an investment, we just made it in that way for our benefits but the things keep changing.In 2017 ICOs are giving huge returns to investors but in 2020 none of the investors are even recovered their capital so cryptos also might turns out to be a stable asset and this is really indeed if we need to use it as currency.

I agree with what you said, but I think often the publicity that people do on bitcoin is totally wrong, many are just looking at the value of btc and hoping that they get rich immediately, but in reality it is now difficult to access the train it is gone! we should think more about how to make it usable for payments or as compensation for works or for purchases of goods and services, the one for which btc was born, digital payment. The same goes for altcoins too

It depends on what you mean by "get rich quick". It seems to me that most of those who wanted to make quick money in crypto came in 2017 and left in 2018. Now, in my opinion, there are practically no random people in crypto. This is exactly what is needed for the health of the crypto market.

I agree with you, here in the crypto world everything needs to be studied and analyzed. The investment needs time to think and listen to the experts ’recommendations and not to rush to take an individual decision. There are no profits without experience and knowledge. The unexperienced investor will find losses of his money and he may fall into a scam project and lose all his money inside. All beginners must learn and invest with the money they want to lose.

Unfortunately, it is the fact, buddy. Most of the people who invest in crypto have the same goal, it is how to earn profits immediately. But they don't really know how to invest in a proper way. Even, some of them don't care about the trends of crypto coins in the market. They don't understand that crypto coins are not always rising up its price but there is also time for them to drop its price. Actually you are right that crypto is not a get rich quick program rather it is just like supporting new tech and projects but it is not true that what people invest in a project is not an investment but donation, please be clear that it is an investment and investor has the right to look for profit and take profit when ever he wants.

I might disagree. In some cases, people with a mindset like that becomes a better person afterward. Since that mindset of a quick-rich scheme will lead them into losses, they will now think about "how it happened?" "what's wrong in the process?". There are lots of people who enter crypto world with a mindset like that but eventually learned in the process.

If more people take it as a means of payment, just like traditional currencies, it will be more healthy. It is supposed to be more of a store of value. It’s best we make it so. Some people actually invest wrongly in crypto, for instance early this year a friend needed my opinion before making investment in ETH and BNB. He was about using 50% of entire funds in his bank to invest, his reason being that he gets no interest keeping the funds in his bank. I had to explain certain things to him, analyzing the risk factor involved before he changed his mind. I'm not saying it's wrong to invest your FIAT in crypto, but risk management is important. Some people go as far as borrowing money to invest in crypto, that's insane. If you ever borrow money to trade, your emotions will surely screw up your trading.

Most people will say only invest spare funds in crypto, but in practice that saying doesn't work all the time. No calculated risk, no reward. If for instance I decide to invest 10% of my savings in crypto, say BTC and ETH maybe when the market dumps significantly, I don't think I'm doing it wrongly. This is an excellent way and a use case of crypto earnings. To encourage crypto lovers, such schemes should be announced by crypto NGOs. To the second point, cryptocurrencies especially BTC we speak about, are to invest in the long term. Only in this way we can be confident about our investment and approach towards it. A healthy portfolio becomes when we become an investor and not a trader.

Healthy if thats the case but we cant get on what we do expect or wanted to because scams and frauds will surely exist no matter what as long it do involves money then criminal minds and fraudsters would really be here no matter what.

When it comes to investment then crowdfunding or in short ICO are already dead or become a shit before that 2017 bull run.There were still few which is worth but most of them are just trash.

As a crypto believer or investor then you should do your own assignment on searching things up. Dont get fooled by high returns or too good to be true promises and you would be on the safe side.

I think that we should see crypto as one more way to have profits in a passive way and not with the thought that by investing today we will be millionaires tomorrow, that is what crypto is about and the important thing about it is that its scope is unlimited that could even improve the world economy if it was used as it should  ::)

Just because you see the success of others who are lucky and can take advantage of good opportunities and big profits, does not mean it can happen to you. Often people only see success, without wanting to learn what are the failures and processes that must be passed. This is one big mistake in investing.

What you have invested in a speculated coin that anytime it can be pumped too. Eventually they will learn, crypto is not a kind of investment where we can get rich quickly, it's not a HYIP or Ponzi scheme which some people are thinking. There are people I know that said they invested in bitcoin and they earn at least 20% per month, that's shitty knowing I'm in crypto and I can't convince them that they are into a possible scam investment, so I just let them do their team and hopefully they'll learn.

Will it find wrong in investing crypto if you are not knowing what you do. Yes, Many had tried but only a few of them succeed it is because not all of them are meant to be in crypto investment. People who thinks instant, quick rich, well, it actually dragging them to hell and losing their funds as the easily get caught and fooled by scammers.

I'm not saying we have to stop investing crypto but for us to warned ourselves and others to see the risk inside. Not all investment is good and not all of them work perfectly that is why we are seeing some or many of them had failed.

In my opinion, most investors in the cryptocurrency market are speculators and not pure investors. When we see a chance to get a profit of 2 or 3 times, I think it's natural that we want to take advantage and sell tokens or coins that we have to switch to another altcoin. First of all I'll say, when you have intention to gain money in any place you should know how to gaining it. It will be useless if you don't know anything but you are expecting that you gain a lot of money, it is false idea.

I think crypto currency has been known by most people and you can similarity it with commodities in conventional investment. There are a lot of sites already who give you many understing about crypto so as you can try to understood it before you spend your money, through this way you will be safe.

I think this goes sideways, that is, on one hand you can blame investors on the other you blame the team. It's quite true that most people have the get rich quick mindset but I think that mindset is slowing down because the crypto space is not like it's used to be. However, I will say people tends to be impatient because they do not trust the projects coming up nowadays wherein the project team always put their own interests first, thus no one can blame the investor for having a get rich quick mindset nor being impatient, in whichever case just waiting for the token to be listed so that they can sell off with any profit. So that is to say, if project team can be serious and stick to their idea, investors will remove unnecessary mindsets which goes against the growth of the project therefore supporting it instead.

When you were talking about native coin and it can be a store of value but it's not all coins can be used as a store of value and the coin that can be considered as a commodity that can be used to store our value and that's only bitcoin. AFAIK the rest were including into the speculation coin.

Crypto is good to use but risky so before we enter to any platform in crypto make sure that we have knowledge about it. Actually it's sad that many who enter in crypto think that they can get a lot of money or profit in overnight,sadly there's no easy in any platform even in crypto.

Right! The time that you can make quick and huge profit out of the cryptocurrency market has long gone. Back in 2017 when there were a lot of pumps, it may be true. However, the market right now is just not the same as the market back in 2017. The cryptocurrency world has been developed fully, therefore, if you want to join this market you need to have proper knowledge and skills. It will be healthy if we (as bitcoin enthusiasts) are going to promote, use and patronized cryptocurrency  in a good way. Those who are new in crypto field mistakenly enter here because of those reasons;
 -easy doubling money (which is probably wrong)
 -big money returns if they invest (but forgot that cryptocurrency is volatile thus will not easily return the fund and it takes time)

At first that topic of your almost got me confused lol, many newbies are here to make money because of many news surrounding crypto and probably they see living witnesses who make good money from crypto, they quickly join the crypto train with the hope of making fast money, little did they know that making money from crypto is all about perfect timing.

The main problem i have noticed with most people is that, they see and handle crypto as i they are dealing with Ponzi. That is why crypto projects that are Ponzi-like easily crash. Ponzi is never volatile, while that is the main characteristic feature of crypto. Those who really make it from crypto are thosethat understand how it works and who are very patient and meticulous on every decision they make.

But I partly disagree to you on this one for a reason:

If there is no one buying cryptocurrency on an exchange, then what is good in holding those cryptocurrency?  We all know that investors participate in crowdfunding for possible profit.  No one will support a project without any gains from it, whether it is financial or social gain.

If everyone just rely on getting cryptocurrency through job works, and no one buys it on the exchange, then it is good as working for nothing since the coins and tokens we receive has no demand at all.

And most of all, spending time, effort, talent even it is not financial is still an investment.  In short, one cannot gain anything unless he invest something.

Usually, it doesn't neccessarily have to be a get rich quick mentality; everyone in the world invest to get profits; so whenever you see people speculating about the profits they are expecting from an investment in crypto currency, do not see it as a get rich quick mentality. The rewards of investments are profit or loss; you can only implore such individual not to get too excited or carried away, and help them focus on their trades, consistent research works help too.

whats the difference ? earning a crypto the other way around and investing on crypto in the hopes of getting rich are i think the same .

Having that kind of mindset has nothing to do with hard work, and thinking that money will work for you. Most ponzi scheme businesses that used this kind of process mapping will promise this kind of mindset, that usually motivates a person of becoming reach is always posible. Though in a business, risking your money is always a part of the whole category, but when you're in crypto we should determine the right asset to choose to avoid losing your future profit.

That's the common misunderstanding people though when investing in cryptocurrency. But that's not really the case here in crypto. If with proper research and study about cryptocurrency, people will realize that there's no easy money here and it takes time before you become "rich" by investing or trading on cryptocurrency. We Cannot blame them because this is the way how Bitcoin and crypto being introduced to them.
I remember i also had this same attitude wayback when i first wanted to invest here.
But my views changed when the realization comes my way and learn that Investing here is not a one night profiting.
we can earn here if we can keep our patience and also our trust in cyyptocurrency.
The flow of market will grow for sure though this will take time.

Agreed, when I was introduced to bitcoin myself too had the same thinking. In specific, I was introduced that bitcoin is a virtual money that grows in value continuously. Later only slowly learned about the true market of cryptocurrencies as well as the possible ways of profiting out of it.

When we're new to the cryptocurrency network we'll easily fall as a prey for scammers, because we've got a mind of getting rich out of cryptocurrency investment. It is always good to invest into cryptocurrencies, before that need to know the consequences as well as the way of keeping our funds secure.

Some people are assuming that they are having unlimited time and energy so they will never considere about earning cryptos is similar to buying them for money. But honestly, your time and efforts are also valuing like money so there should not be any differences in the consideration of cryptos through what way we are obtaining. I have seen some people are worshiping the coins, they have bought but they will easily sell what they have got from bounty rewards.

Yes, this title is definitely misleading. We can invest in cryptocurrencies but not into random things; we must take time to do enough due diligence so that we can avoid shitcoins. When you are not happy with investments in cryptocurrencies, then you must limit yourself only with bitcoin investments at least. Because, bitcoin is known for good returns so far and it is highly recommended instrument to go with for anyone.

The fact us that, I have always advice people that approach me and say they want to venture into crypto. I ask them about their motives, that if it is about making it quick then they should forget about it unless they have millions of dollars they want to risk for daily investment.  There have been many losses resulted from impatience.  Crypto space is neither an abracadabra nor magic place.

what you say to people who ask you is very true. the crypto investment will not bring them to get rich quick. but if they have good trading skills, they can get it with greater risk.

not only in crypto , in other finance market we will not be rich man instantly. many people have wrong thougt, crypto or stock market could give them huge money only in short time. this market contain of high risk , so we must use free money and accept if this money loss. first thing we must prepare were mentality and skill.

Anyway, people have different approaches in the market, they simply think about quick rich because that is what they mostly heard before. We should have to correct them either, but not in a way to discourage them from investing coz I know that they can understand the real situation.

I think the only way to break the manipulative state of mind that you were going to be rich in a short run of time is to focus on gaining small profit and increasing it little by little with a passionate research on how you maintain or surpass even beyond that. Rather than thinking big but in reality it will gives you a whole bunch of struggles on how you make it happen or even losing money would be possible.

You can never invest into anything if you are not willing to face the risk, every kind of investments holds risky so you have to realize the fact and then invest later.If you invest a part of your savings in cryptos then its good choice but if you invest the whole salary in cryptos and expecting the profits for the next month to cover your expenses is just pure stupidity and that kind of investments are mostly made in crypto market.

Obviously there are a lot of people who are looking at it wrong way but most others are looking at it wrong way as well. If you want to make more crypto you should earn it and that should be but what crypto currency is all about. Sure people who live in Europe for example could buy Dollars when it is low and sell it when it is high but usually, do you make money with money on regular basis? Getting rich quick was the first understanding almost all newcomers have about cryptocurrency and i guess all this happen because of the early adopters testimony but I believe making lost and profit in crypto investment is a matter of choice because we all understand that every investment have it own risk involve so any newcomer that expect crypto to be risky free despite the volatility in nature of crypto market definitely shouldnt have join it in the first place.

This is truly an income where you have to be more careful even If you want to invest in a project then you have to clear mind and analyze the project properly. But the main thing to remember is not to invest large amount of capital in any project because then you will be more at risk of extinction.

However, i think all new investors should start with very little capital, because it is better to do research on investment in the first place than to make a profit,! You can't get rich quick if you want to, so patience is the key to your investing.

Some of the cryptocurrencies we know were created for the purpose of transaction and those who created those cryptocurrencies stated clearly that it was to be used for transactions, while there are other cryptocurrencies that were created for reasons that are different for that. Bitcoin is one of those few that were created for transaction, but since it’s volatile and the money put there doesn’t remain the same after some time, people now sees it as a way to earn money.

When I started using Bitcoin I was just using it for sending and receiving payment, took me time to start investing. I only ask to not invest in them but to actually use them. Currently, if some person supports another one via Patreon for example, he/she does it without getting anything in return. That is the essense of investment. It is not easy and fast profits or gains. There are only success and failure. If one wanted fast to earn then probably the more risky it will be or lower chance on getting the investment successfully. This is why investing in tokens is really bad. You got the main point out there. Well, that's the reality, especially these times where almost all altcoins or crypto projects are making some huge price surge. New people who have been encourage because of the profits without reviewing what kind of investment it is will be always get trapped.
 I always teach my fellow crypto enthusiast that they have to think price and calculate the risk before they invest. There are so many projects that offers low risk high reward and so why to choose high risk with low reward.

If you're just looking for an instant way to get rich, then most newcomers are stuck in the HYIP world or ponzi sites that pay with Crypto. I agree, many investors invest in crypto because wrong mindset "get rich quickly", so when he take loss, he not ready for that and will blame the projects. Unfortunately, this is what the new investors think with regards to crypto. They are coming because they see that they can earn money here in a quick way.
That is also the reason too why they are the first ones to burnt out. They thought that it is that easy to earn here in crypto whereas it is the complete opposite of it (unless you are a good trader).

In my part, I think the subject title should be rephrase because in order for me to use cryptocurrencies I must invest some money into it. Yes many people sees crypto as an investment which is supposedly not to because at first place it is a currency but since people are using it for trading and at the same time creating more money with it (and losing money), you can't blame them if they see crypto as an investment instead of a currency.

at this moment, we didnt see any campaign that able give reward value like on 2016 - 2017 condition . due scam project in market in few years ago many investors uncourage to invest in new project and now we see so many project failed.  biggest reward maybe now less than $500 and its very rare to find.

actually it doesn't need 1 day, but you have to wait to get in at the right time, and it can come faster than other value gains such as stocks, mutual funds, etc.some examples of altcoin can go up to 100% a few days or rather 1 week, so actually you don't have to wait long if you enter at the right time.

if we separate crypto into BTC and Altcoins

1. BTC would be used in investments like gold and being traded as USD/EUR.

We got this mindset back then after the bitcoin hit its all time high, news are every where about a digital currency the reaches $20,000 in total many people have made profit that year persuading others to jump and join the hype thinking it was really easy for  digital currency to gather the trust from its people, but then it submerged. In that time also, many projects are rising without most of us knowing that those are scams and are just surfacing over the crypto for the money. Until know there are people who believe in easy money, can't believe this, scammers in twitter last week was able to bag a huge amount for just posting a bitcoin and ethereum doubler with hacked accounts.

Not all people are the same, if we all knew that crypto will boom from the time it was created then we could have not experience those unique history of the crypto community. There would not be a pizza bought for 2 bitcoins!

Well, you can never blame other people for viewing it that way. Some people were introduced to Cryptocurrency that way and the way to change that is for them to be introduced to new knowledge. You're probably right. I think the core of the problem is - cryptocurrency is just another way of storing value and making transactions, so... currency.
And as any other currency it has its own fluctuations of a price and that's healthy - its just a matter of demand and supply.

I think the reason is to reinvest our profits and hold on to real capital so that we do not fall into any kind of zero account later. Cryptos can be a nice long term and also passive way of earning an income but we need to be realistic and look at CRYPTO as a way to grow and diversify our savings, as having now FIAT in the Bank only devalues and gets less and less useful as it goes down. I also think that there are some great projects that we can interact with and have great utility like TRAVALA for example which has ways for us to book our travel through CRYPTO and this is a huge use case for us all in the CRYPTOSPHERE. Demand for the token keeps growing as we lock up and earn rewards and discounts. Amazing stuff coming by tokenization of assets and business.

Most people see cryptocurrency as a get rich quick scheme and that has lead them to fraudulent schemes and rippers. My journey into the space began with investment into HYIPS and ICO's, which promised a very high return but ended up carting away with my money. It feels really bad, but I've learnt my lessons and have been working on keeping my head down and being more careful in my investment choice.

yes, investment is to get profits, as long as you can make a profit somehow, that means this way can be accelerated to make a higher profit in same period or reach a certain amount of profit (can be called Rich from your perspective) fast.

it's fair enough, getting some crypto rewards from crowdfunding results or as a bounty participant who then gets a reward. but sometimes there is a project that fails and causes us to lose the time we used to work at the time, or when we invest and then not get maximum results. Probably OP had never made good in investing cryptocurrency because of having losses. Losses is part of investment whatever investment you may had. I agree with you that cryptocurrency is one a high risk form of investment and this could mean also that there is a high chance on getting high gains or the opposite which will be getting more losses. It is up to you when will you going to buy crypto, risk your money and decide when to sell crypto. Trading is very common to others who enthusiast with but most likely the best thing to gain here is risking money to buy crypto while having market crash and then sell it whenever you want after the market made a recovery but never buy again unless it will be having a market crash for crypto again. 

The good thing is cryptocurrencies are one of the best investment vehicle nowadays but a lot of people are losing because of lack of knowledge and wrong mindset. Do you understand how market and price work? There should be buyers to buy your tokens unless the token or coin doesn´t have any value. Its like the normal investment thing, it takes time to earn money. I consider earning cryptocurrency as an extra job, I just want to be lock here where I don't have guarantee that it will provide me what I need in everyday lives. If we want to be success and just like OP said, we should not quit our own job just to be fulltime in cryptocurrency especially if we are just in the beginning stage. We can invest our money by also securing our future with the normal thing we should do in real life. Its a different thing that we can use our skills in real world.

Even with the present situation of things in the crypto market, you can just advise to stay off the crypto investment now. There are good altcoins that are doing so well. One just have to be very careful with dealing with those altcoins. They can really disappoint, an if that happens, that will be a total lost I yiur investment. I was to sell some altcoin two days ago, but due to ImToken with high gas fee, I was unable to do that, and till the coin deep again. I just have to wait till when the comes up again. It's a good coin though. So putting all altcoins inine basket is really not a good advise.

They always dream about a repeat of what we had in 2012-2017, when the Bitcoin prices went from $10 to $20,000. And these people get disheartened, when they witness the prices remaining stable for many months (or even years).

well they didn't realize that the price of bitcoin when it was created was as cheap as that until 2017 many were surprised by the price of bitcoin which could reach such expensive prices, because there was brainwashing so that many new people entered and tried to invest in bitcoin assuming they could get lots of profit from bitcoin when prices recovered to $20k again.

Invest in projects that you have sufficient information on. Most projects aren't actually worthy of your investment but how can you tell when you have no idea what their use case is simply because you refused to research on it. I have been a victim of such a project before and I lost  a  huge sum of money and that has strenghtened me in my investment decision making.

You're right! peoples and especially newbies with no investment/trading skills joins the ship of cryptocurrency willing to make a fortune with no skills, no funds, no knowledge and even with no luck on their side they end up losing all their "limited capital" doing wrong movements, following the hype and the FOMO. I advice peoples to be more reasonable, only afford what they can lose as this field isn't easy to deal with. Even in the Corona period, there's a higher risk of market volatility, unstable trading experiences which is even making the story sound more worse. If we really respect knowledge as a concept, we won't lose, we instead learn and when the time comes there's alots of profits awaiting to be grabbed by the ones who really study the market like it should be done.

People who suggest not to invest in cryptocurrency are simply impatient or lazy enough to do a proper research. They have already failed in earning quick and easy and now are angry on the whole World. Once I've bought Waves tokens when Sasha Ivanov hyped them with Vostok airdrop. During 2 years, Waves were on the bottom from ATH. This altcoin in my wallet was a reminder that I must choose wise where to invest. Many times I have thoughts to sell them. Last week their price doubled and I happily sold all my Waves. They are my best lesson to wait, be calm and continue to invest.

I think most of the users have come to the cryptoqurrency industry to benefit from crypto investing. even personally I also have the same goal. it's just that in my opinion crypto cannot make you rich quickly, as far as I know crypto investing will take a long time or at least until the price of the coins you invest in increases significantly. and don't forget that before you invest, make sure only with real coins such as BTC, if you don't have the main capital then you can hunt for free tokens and you can convert the proceeds from the token sale back into investment capital in crypto.

I think that ICO projects should lock the tokens of investors from 1 month to 2 years so that the market will be more stable and they have the best time to develop the project. Projects should deposit their money to an account and make the management public to investors to ensure they serve the right project development purpose.

You are right but however, my concern is on the "get rich quick" approach which has caused many people their funds as they ended up investing in bad projects which was filled with hype etc. Also, this get rich quick approach tends to blind the judgement of some people therefore making them not to actually study the project but instead they focus on the hype surrounding the project. On the other hand, most people nowadays follow influencers of various crypto projects thus listening and doing whatever they heard without proper analysis and research from their own angle.

At least I set a goal for myself to save on too frequent entertainment and other pleasant things, and to make profitable investments in cryptocurrency.
