Discussion is good.  No company is going to make a sudden decision to accept Bitcoin.  Imagine proposing to accept Bitcoin at board meeting with aprox 10 other directors.  It wouldn't be surprising if at least 2 other directors think it is a ponzie scheme, not real money or criminal money.  It takes time to win people over.

Just relax and have faith! BTC wil recover!!
Last year in August, the bitcoin also fell and then he rose to unprecedented levels. Remember that many people are now enjoying their vacation. When the holiday is over then more people will deal with Bitcoin again.

Yes, you are right.
In fact, most of this directory are in old age, very conservative and don't like and don't accept new and revolutionary changes easily.
Facebook, Microsoft and Google didn't start old people, but young, fresh people with new, revolutionary ideas.
When first a few ''big'' companies accept Bitcoin, others will follow as well.

I still have faith. (group1) Many people who have started with virtual money started with bitcoin. (group 2) Some people immerse themselves more in virtual money and buy a few altcoins next.
Most people stay with that. (group 3) The people who study more and the real speculators are a member of this forum. If bitcoin is rising or falling, there are always people in group 1, 2 or 3 who sell or buy. One group fills the other, and vice versa.

Exchange traded funds. It's an investment fund with features like passive management and can be traded like regular stocks and commodities. Basically we will see Bitcoin traded on Wall Street.
I think etfs are still an open bet, even if the Winklevoss one seems like it's in a good position for approval these things take ages to be accepted and don't forget still ongoing regulations for btc.

Indeed ebay has been flirting with btc for quite some time now, they even added a mining section some time ago, but this is pretty big nonetheless. Braintree was acquired by Paypal one year ago and they estimated to make more than $100m of revenue in the first year and projected to process a volume of $12b (it is quite ambitious but it seems usage grew steadily every quarter). Think if they could integrate Bitcoin into their system, instead of just accepting it, that would be quite a jump.

Only thing I know about Stellar is that it was abused by many people on many different forums. And I don't think it can help much to that transition. 99% of people using Stellar were already familiar with Bitcoin.

I could be wrong but I get the feeling some companies like Ebay are attempting to secure their existing market place.  So the way I see it is that Ebay has two choices.. they get onboard early or they fall to a competitor.  Imagine if a VC startup pumped $100 million into a full blown Ebay style system that uses Bitcoin.  Miniscule selling listing fees, no more transaction fees, etc.  Ebay might be thinking "we get in now and it will put off other companies from bothering".  Something like that.

its really a smart way to get new coin out there... only way an altcoin will have value if there are people who have it widespread and see an value in their holdings.... as long as everyone doesnt sell off to one person should be a good widespread coin but yes i am one of the ones who jumped on the free coin and dumped as soon as i possibly could.... with any altcoin i hold i get rid of as long as there is still a value to it at the time  i get it

I agree that that is great way to make your altcoin get value but what will happen now? For most of the people it was pump and dump and now they don't have interest in it.

See the point that I seen one op made in here, was that these business are going to hurt btc because if sellers have to turn btc into fiat, then fiat goes into products, then more get bitcoin goes into fiat, instead of sellers taking bitcoin and being able to buy supplies with bitcoin, it wont do bitcoin any good till many and I mean many adopt it.

I think the bitcoin value will rise again.
Much is happening in the world right now.
The financial news has been more in the background.
This will probably turn again.

Another reason I think is that people invest money in expensive altcoins. (more expensive than BTC). If the value of those expensive altcoins going to drop a lot of people will fall back on the BTC.

And actually does the BTC fine. There are now many companies, organizations, shops etc where you can pay with BTC.
This number continues to grow. I do not see that happening with the expensive altcoins! For some companies, organizations, shops etc it is indeed a big step to admit BTC in their payment option. The chance that these companies, agencies, shops etc put BTC aside and just switch to another currency is very small.

If you don't follow the market, I'll tell you what's happening: Bitfenix is an exchange that lets you borrow liquidity and bet on Bitcoin price, when there was that spike around 680$ in June people thought it was the beginning of another bubble and a massive amount of dollars where borrowed for long positions. The trick is that you have to pay interests to keep those orders opened and the more time you keep those orders open the more the price have to rise in order for you to make a profit. Right now the price is plummeting because there's a sort of cascade effect being triggered by orders that are now in a really bad position and these people can't remain solvent forever. As long as there are bigger players in the market who don't care about the price being stagnant or going lower these people will keep losing money. And these big players are really patient, they are waiting for every order to be closed in red so the price gets low enough for them to enter with a strong position on the lowest possible price.

It's great that companies are in talks to be honest as this is what bitcoin needs however we need more action and less talking, all the companies seem to be doing is going into discussions but we never really see any outcomes from these discussions.

That is true. The problem is that with many companies they can go into talks for months and months which I understand that any kind of discussion and decision is going to take a while but then we never really seem to see any progress from there meaning it all kind of fades out for a while until we hear anything else if anything.

I tend to agree, to me it feels like companies are just looking to get the names in the news and if Bitcoin is what is cool to be associated with then why not say your doing this and that.  Time will tell what will come out of all these talks but to me things are still up in the air.

EBay bought Braintree last year for $ 800 million. According to sources of The Wall Street Journal PayPal has talked with several companies that make Bitcoin transactions possible. One is Coinbase.

The conversations were about the acceptance of digital currency by Braintree. EBay and PayPal will, if a deal is closed over Braintree, do not even go directly accept Bitcoins. But, according to sources from The Wall Street Journal, this may change at a later stage.

Really interesting... really interesting indeed.

Ebay is a perfect platform for integrating Bitcoin, the whole business model is based on sellers trust rating, and all new sellers will have their funds frozen for 30 days, and power sellers has absolutely no intention in scamming since there seller level is worth more than the few dollars they could get. Really ideal setup for bitcoin, hope this will be realized, it would be huge for bitcoin. (But I want to see it before I even dare hoping for bitcoin on ebay).

I'm not sure if eBay can avoid Bitcoin forever. Sooner or later they are going to have to take a firm stance.

Ebay and Paypal tried to protest against BTC initally, but after realising amount of BTC in trade they decide to support it.

The fee's are independent on the payment method, you get charged once per month with an invoice from Ebay.
But yes, the seller fee's on ebay is pretty high, you also pay 15% in VAT* on your sales, this will also be on your invoice.

*If you are EU based seller

I suppose they will operate like an escrow service. They could already be eligible to pass the regulatory requirements to operate as an exchange too. I would tend to trust them to do it with better security than a lot of the players we have seen (and cringed at)

Not a fan of paypal, but they know how to operate! I have to give them that!

Good news indeed (if realized)

It's not enough for companies to accept bitcoin, although it is a positive sign. We need reasons for people to buy bitcoin just to use it, rather than just those of us with it spending what we already have. At the moment the hassle and risk involved means most people are better off just using CC. As someone who purchases from overseas a lot, and consistently gets screwed on the currency conversion, international transactions makes the most sense for BTC. Hopefully retailers will also start offering discounts to BTC purchases as well.

And I like it this time!

The fact is these are merely rumours, rumours that have been present for a very long time. Ebay's CEO has never given definitive proof that his company is on the verge of accepting cryptocurrencies and furthermore his partnership with PP is the real stumbling block.

One issue is that PP really fits EBay's needs. I've been a long-time power seller on ebay and people do screw you over all the time. Sellers of products are at risk, which is why PP being reversible is a good thing. Bitcoin would be a nightmare with ebay in my opinion.

I also can not wait to menjal my bitcoin, because it was in need of money, but now the price is still down and I still hold him, to rise again at least $ 600 :)

No, more companies acceptance means people spending bitcoins (== selling them == selling pressure == exchange rate going down)
Long term you're right.

You really don't know what oxymoron means? An oxymoron (plural oxymora or oxymorons) is a figure of speech that juxtaposes elements that appear to be contradictory. Oxymora appear in a variety of contexts, including inadvertent errors (such as "ground pilot") and literary oxymorons crafted to reveal a paradox.

I will be staying with only a few coins for now.

BTC, SPN and Magicoin.
Magicoin has a very new concept / program.
This altcoin will soon be re-launched.
The developer is doing well and the Magicoin community is helping with testing.
Very good to follow. Furthermore, I have become very cautious.

IMO this is much better news then ebay potentially accepting bitcoin for payment. eBay would likely only allow buying to pay with bitcoin but would not allow seller to get paid with bitcoin.

With regulation that is pro growth the bitcoin economy will likely grow and thrive.

Depend on the rules still. The one proposed by New york will do more harm than good and will not change the dynamic of global bitcoin flow.

Still have high hope on Texas where they don't treat bitcoin as money but only property. Compliance issues will be a lot simple.
