With Scrypt-N you beat asics too.
I don't know which one is better but i prefer well-known and anonymous algorithms like X11 with Tor rather than the newest ones, we don't know if they're good enough. In my case I've also posted on cryptocurrency ANN's that links but they're not viruses, they're part of the file. With all the tests, new wallets with nodes were working fine but finally there was a problem. Now all the pools are working fine, C-CEX is getting confirmations and people can transfer CATc's to other ones. Congrats to everyone. CataloniaCoin is on air and we're working on it. IMAO all the coins that we're talking about are suspectable to 51% attacks and I think that Blackcoin devs and users explained in the past some vulnerabilities just to spread FUD on other cryptocurrencies ANN's like the Mintcoin one. As well, to make an attack on a PoW+PoS hybrid you have to control the hash and the coin age, while in a pure POS coin like blackcoin only need to control coin age… and with that hybrid system the next block can be PoW or PoS as @CataloniaDev post some days ago, I think. Problem with premine, solved. After making available to buyers 50% of the currency we have seen a result. I think it´s a correct decission that we can only mine the same number as the coins sold in Ico. The daily and annual reward is low, which gives value to the number of current coins (in my opinión we have low and cheaper prices). For me the curve of rewards in the future I don`t care much, I care more about getting a good use of this money. If is reduced gradually reward people may stop mining. Now being always the same reward , we can all make very rapid accounts and in my opinion will greatly to the stability of prices in Catc. No need to do fetched rewards and follies on coins. Minerpools has offered to get the daemon going to allow people to withdraw their v1 coins (good man). I found a link to the old github repository: https://github.com/Cataloniacoin/CataloniacoinS Now if exactly the same number of coins has been produced then there's no reason that everyone with v1 coins can't still get them swapped. All it'd take is for the devs to re-install the old wallet and then have everyone with v1 coins send them to it. Those swapping their old coins could post here or in a Google doc the amount, sending address and their v2 address for getting the new coins. It'd take a little effort, but it's a small price to pay to resolve the situation and restore some faith in the project. I just noticed a new promising coin (CATC2), then found a good pool (minerpools.com) an mined it :) In the pool GUI nothing was pointing to some issues with the coin, or to a incoming algo changing, or to swap, so I just happily mined the coin :), until I realized some problems with the blockchain and started reading this forum more carefully because of that. There was no info anywhere about this coin swap except this forum, I don't think that info even was in OP at that time!! I am not sure which blocks my coins were produced from, maybe they are before block 45000, maybe after... Thanks for responding. I think only a couple of people actually read this thread. Basically I have built the first Bitcoin/Altcoin browser. Its the equivalent of Netscape 1 was to the Internet. It allows anyone to buy and sell goods with Bitcoin, and that means the idea of just "Merchants" completely evaporates. The guy up the road can sell 4 carrots as easily as a multinational. No-one needs ID and it is the solution to the unbanked. It will ensure mainstream adoption of Bitcoin because like the web browser its simple. It is almost finished - I hope this month, and quite frankly its too big for just 1 person to run, so will initially look for someone in the industry to run it. I thought it may spark some interest and hope for this coin, but as you can see the dev is on a long siesta. And honestly this seems to be a combination, making the chain more stable. As soon as there is not enough miners due to increased diff, PoS still moves the chain; if there is not enough staking wallets, the chain can be easily moved by mining (this resolve the issue some PoS coins currently have - they are stopped with all coins either stuck in staking, or being on exchanges (FRDC for example). Even now (when this coin seems to be abandoned) the CATC chain moves from time to time - my wallet sometimes is able to sync pretty well. Got my wallet now running as a node put addnode=81.107.12.4 into your cataloniacoin.conf file found in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Cataloniacoin if the file isn't there just create a .txt file add the line addnode=81.107.12.4 then save the file as cataloniacoin.conf and you wallet should start to sync up. Yep, it should be possible to solo-mine, especially as the difficulty is probably very low. I remember I did solo-mine it few years back, but since forgot how I did it. One thing for sure - you would need "getwork"-supporting miner to mine solo. Alternatively you could install some pool software (like the most popular Python-based one), and mine using stratum. The code and blockchain are great, and everything works without single glitch. This coin only lacks community. I have been mining this coin for quiet a few weeks now all you need is a few thousand coins and your wallet always open and you periodically receive coins the algo has auto shifted to favour pos over pow at the moment.
