3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ★LIST★ BitcoinTalk's ESCROW Providers: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scam ☠ on: December 21, 2020, 10:02:36 PM
UPDATE Nov 2020

Changelog:

Nov 10th, 2020: monbux seems not doing escrow in spite of his/her "escrow thread remaining open. This has led to dozens of scams over the last 2 years by Monbux impersonators. Any time you are approached by someone on Telegram claiming to be Monbux, you are being set up for a scam". So monbux has been flagged (and removed from the list until issue is solved):

Further info here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631008.msg55440114#msg55440114

New additional data inserted for all escrow providers: "Deals with"
P.s. Thank you minerjones for the suggestion!

If you (escrow provider) wanna change any data or info related to your services send PM.

Whole list and scores updated.

Thank you for updating the list. Definitely agree with the decision, and I apologize for being inactive within the community (life got in the way pretty quickly)

I made one final post on my escrow thread, closing down the service: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631008.msg55894427#msg55894427
4  Economy / Services / Re: [CLOSED] Monbux's Escrow Services | Since 2014 | Security Upgrade | Legendary | on: December 21, 2020, 09:49:54 PM
Hi everyone,

I took a hiatus from Bitcointalk and cryptocurrency over the past few years and am saddened to come back to see so many impersonators successfully scamming multiple users on here. I've posted multiple warnings over the past few years about impersonators - I have never used or owned a Telegram account and will never email you first.

It's really frustrating to read the recent posts here to know that if I had set this thread to INACTIVE/CLOSED, certain scams may have been prevented. I deeply apologize for not being more proactive - life got in the way and I've been inactive in this community since 2018.

That being said, you need to be extremely cautious when dealing with strangers on the internet. I have never mentioned that I use Telegram, so not sure why people are so trusting of someone with the same name there, without receiving verification from my account on bitcointalk. I've posted multiple warnings over the past few years, including in the OP regarding scammers and impersator activity.

PGP messages have no use if you don't know how to verify them. Conduct due diligence when engaging in transactions online, make sure you get confirmation AT THE SOURCE.

Hello, so I've been trading from a person on telegram named @visesento (he is the scammer). We both agreed on the deal, 1000$ movocash for 350$ btc. As we both were unsure about trustness, he offered to hire Monbux. We both wrote an email to him, asking if he can help us to trade safely. Provided details, offer and our telegram ID's. He (@MonbuxBitcointalk) created telegram group within like 10 minutes. Then, where my lack of knowledge occured - he sent me a PGP signed message, which I checked on keybase.io/verify :

Monbux Bitcointalk, [04.07.20 20:00]

Putting this message in it shows, that the message is signed by monbus (Huh?) . So this is where I fucked up, not sure how this works.
After this, I've sent BTC to his address ( transaction ID :https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/be618f8c287069dc2cec573070498e90455e3a66d78bcdac5a983a3ad2057882 )
Then, ofc, even after confirmations I didn't get my movocash from the seller. Started asking questions, no response. No response from guy, acting as escrow and no response from the seller.
Today he magicly replied, but only when other guy contacted him ( here is SS, how I managed to reach 'monbux' : https://prnt.sc/tdc7z9 , https://prnt.sc/tdc8mm , https://prnt.sc/tdc926 ) .
And later all our conversation (https://prnt.sc/tdcaw3 , https://prnt.sc/tdcbbr , https://prnt.sc/tdcbmq , https://prnt.sc/tdcbwr , https://prnt.sc/tdcc68 , https://prnt.sc/tdccfp ,  https://prnt.sc/tdccl7 , https://prnt.sc/tdccvc ,  https://prnt.sc/tdcd21 , https://prnt.sc/tdcda4 , https://prnt.sc/tdcdl4 , https://prnt.sc/tdcdu0 ,  https://prnt.sc/tdce0j , https://prnt.sc/tdcehk  ), coins weren't sent yet to other address,  but I am already sure, that I've been scammed.

so guys, watch out and don't make same mistake as I've did. Smiley

P.S. Monbux, can you explain how this PGP works?

Thanks @nutildah for explaining - yes, it seems like this is a PGP message I signed 6+ years ago with my old address (1Q2CupiU5DfWupRGBQ66QYRqvxoNxGZCcn). It shows as verified because the scammer put the text "Monbux Bitcointalk, [04.07.20 20:00]" OUTSIDE the PGP signed message, so it was ignored by the verifier. Try putting anything outside of it and it'll verify, since the verifier only reads in between the
-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
and
-----END PGP MESSAGE-----

I'd like to thank the bitcointalk community for all the support, great memories, and memes over the past 7+ years. I'll continue to lurk around every once in a while, and hope that by closing this thread + this message, we'll prevent scams moving forward. Will leave thread open for 24 hours more for any comments prior to closing.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions/comments. PM me (HERE, not on telegram... :p)

Hi everyone,

As an update:

I have contacted the founders/devs and they said they will make a post explaining the current situation to their users soon. This post should be extensive in explaining their situation and the delays as well as lack of communication over the past few months. Additionally, the founders are expected to outline multiple options for their investors/users moving forward.

If any other issues arise, or if you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and we can discuss further.

7  Economy / Auctions / Re: Guaranteed Growth Coin from Top Exchange on: December 12, 2019, 10:12:39 PM
I am selling my coins (bought for my pension) which has a current value of BTC 13.39 but only can redeemed in stages over a period of 6 years.

I need the cash so selling the entire lot for BTC 6.8

The coin has a guaranteed growth to 6 years of in excess BTC 16.00

This will be a escrow deal, so the buyer will have enough time to do his/her due diligence.

This opportunity does not arise often, so I am not negotiable on price - there is enough good and safe profit to be made.

PM me if you are interested.
Needs more info - it sounds pretty sketchy right now lol

Why do you guys keep on bumping this thread? Stop spamming your signatures and let the thread die.

I can take some of that off your hands, shoot me a PM.

Would not recommend communications via skype, that's typically where bad stuff goes down.
13  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin? on: February 19, 2019, 07:45:19 AM
This sounds like an awesome idea! Really hope it works out.

With regards to the design, I personally find the simpler but distinct ones to be a lot more appealing. It would be pretty cool if the coin design was linked to bitcointalk not just explicitly, but also contained some sort of hidden/secret message. Just a thought.
14  Economy / Currency exchange / (WTB) BTC and ETH, have paypal and e-transfer (CAD) on: February 19, 2019, 07:39:33 AM
As per the title, I am looking to purchase coins with paypal and e-transfer. Looking for @preev rates. Priority will be given to those whom I have prior transactions with.

Thank you for your post, I have been warning users for the better part of two years now. There have been numerous scam attempts by impersonators, primarily via email. The said scammers are masking their real email addresses so users believe that they are talking to me over email, and send bitcoins without requesting a PGP signature or proof that I was in control of the bitcointalk account.

Given the outcries I have received over the past 2 years, I estimate that XX.XX bitcoins have been stolen. Please exercise common sense and take some steps to ensure that you are talking to the right person.

16  Economy / Services / Renting my signature space (Legendary member and high trust) on: August 10, 2018, 11:09:56 PM
Check my post history, posts are quite sporadic. I do have a high post count which means your signature will be shown in many threads that might still be active even now. No spam so you don't have to worry about that nonsense.

Looking to rent for minimum 1 month, max whenever. I will personally vet what you're advertising in order to ensure it's something that will not mislead or scam potential users.

PM me your best offer.

Yet another person today was scammed by an imposter: they spoofed their email to look like mine (monbux.bitcointalk@gmail.com) and requested that the buyer send their bitcoins to an address owned by the scammer.

This is very unfortunate but it is very easy to prevent this from happening to you:

Contact me on bitcointalk instead
and/or
ALWAYS request a PGP signed message from my keybase.io account before transacting anything.
19  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders depositors: Reimbursement available (please read!) on: July 13, 2018, 12:34:36 AM
and believe TradeFortress should be regarded as a bit of a hero as he really didn't need to do this and could just quietly have kept everyone's coins.

That is absolutely absurd. He ran away with the coins in the first place.
