This may or may not be a scam. But for sure there is (another?) leak.
I use random, unique, unguessable email address at each website I register with. And I changed my bitcointalk.org registered email address the last time I was notified about a user database leak. But today, I saw spam about "BitCoal about to moon" reaching my inbox, and noticed that it was to my bitcointalk email. Then I realised that my bitcointalk registered email had been getting spam/phishing emails for at least the past month (those beyond that were automatically expunged from Spam folder). At least 94 spam have been received to that email.

I wanted to buy a Ledger Nano S to replace my HW1, but the only shipping option is UPS express for 179.04 € !
What's up with that? Can't remember the shipping cost on my HW1, but it was a lot more reasonable.
They may be having a glitch with their shopping cart or your country is one where shipping options are limited. Have you checked prices in Amazon? Yeah, maybe there was a glitch with their shopping cart. Shipping is now down to €50.03, which is still crazy compared to the cost of the ledger itself, but is probably the correct order of magnitude for what UPS actually charges. The third party resellers on Amazon ask US$154. They probably only get away with this because direct purchases will only ship a month later, and cost so much in shipping. I wish Ledger offered lower cost shipping services to Asia. |

It's probably pointless to discuss this, and IANAL but...
I'd posit that whether this is a scam depends on cryptx's intentions at the start and throughout the operations. There's a difference between a failed investment, incompetent management, etc and a dishonest scheme that was designed to pull in the marks. Even if everything was run by the book and according to the terms of the prospectus, it could still be a scam in my books, eg.
- if cryptx's intentions were to swindle "investors" from the start
- if the projections were such as to be manifestly improbable to other competent persons (something that was probably true of PETAMINE, but is not so clear for SCRYPT)
It also means there can be such a thing as a legal scam.

Havelock can you make cryptx use reinvestment funds now and start paying divs now, it doesnt make sense to wait
plus its about to sell out....
I doubt Havelock has had any leverage over cryptx ever since IPO funds were disbursed. |

You can sell miners off / mine alts / lease it out etc... pretty different than this. With the bitmain offer, you can mine on any pool you want (as long as it is Pool 1-3?). You can sell miners off, but there is $2000 per truck fee, plus logistics. Only 90 days parts/warranty is provided. What happens beyond that? Pay for smart hands (presumably not included in Electricity fee)? Your revenue is based on whatever your miners actually fine. With AMHash, you can sell your mining contract off on the open market. No logistics issues. Revenue is calculated from hashrate and difficulty, so any availability problems are AMHash's not yours. |

AM's case when considered with respect to the share price is a bit 'special' because of failed gen2 and quasi failed gen3 - successful gen4, depending on timing and competition performance, could yield a nice return for those willing to risk their capital. I say risk capital because failed gen4 will be very harsh for todays buyers.
Not as harsh as for those who bought 12 months ago. |

Was there a public offer for the hardware? I wonder who would've found the hardware to be worth 60+ btc in the current mining environment.
Edit: I guess what I'm thinking is, maybe crypto will find it portable to continue operating at their true operating cost

Sadly, this doesn't matter anymore. When BitFury releases it's IPO price in the next 6months after their upcoming gen release, it will and should absolutely shatter the AM share price (creating a similar effect to what's in play RE: IBM vs. AMD $ share price). There will be a David vs. Goliath scenario in these chip mfg sectors - just...please don't envision your sight of David's size if you've never had to really compete with Goliath on the open market...the over-estimation of the equity's future value without a key growth plan would make you vomit make you vomit if you could see the writing now on the wall with BitFury press + the recent Microsoft announcement...
This is a prime scenario that explains where a company could completely burn it's goodwill ledger. One poor end user, home-based product generation has eliminated a whole sector's worth of market-reciprocal investors. This type of equity-present-value loss could only really be recovered at this granite-shill inflated price right now. Looks like a few board members see the cancer in their portfolios at a stage 3, when they expected notification at the onset of stage 1.
Literally terrifying to think about. That being said,AM's cash reserves are fucking enormous. If you haven't been personally monitoring the associated addresses on a 2-3 day basis, you're missing it completely. Just remember that compared to BitFury, any dividends paid are not reinvested capital. And those funds are some dank, sad, stagnant couplings of bullion-esque data.
AND AMHASH is the realistic mining/"transaction processing - fuck you, BitFury" solution that the sector desperately needed...so don't ignore it completely - there's potential in AM still to come, just nowhere near when you think it will arrive.
I don't quite understand your post. Has Bitfury announced plans (not ambitions) for an IPO? I had the impression that they had sufficient venture-capital funds that they would not need to IPO in the near term. And if they did have a successful IPO, I think it helps lift the entire sector. Were you comparing size of Goliath (Bitfury) vs David (AM) based on manufacturing size, proven technology, funding level, deployed hashrate, or something else? What is the comparative size of Bitfury vs AM as ASIC manufacturers anyway? Yes, Bitfury has lots of deployed hashrate (how much?)... In the current mining climate, does it look hugely profitable? What was the (recent?) Bitfury press announcement? Dividends are the same for Bitfury - any dividends paid are not reinvested capital. |

It makes no sense for Rockminer (a totally separate company) to sell AMHash shares for AM without getting paid to do so. Rockminer shareholders would get no benefit from such an arrangement. scenarios: - Rockminer was the underwriter for the ipo and mops up unsold units. - Rockminer is responsible for the deployment and operations of the mining farm and is paid for this, but amhash forum name and find are owned by AM. - ? ? ? |

There is probably a reason why there was no offer for additional AMHash shares.
Could be they needed bitcoin from self mining and had to wait for additional deployment of hash rate before selling new shares, maybe something else.
There might be a reason, and I hope that it is good. But it certainly should not be these reasons. Revenue from selling an AMHash unit should be approximately 150 days of current dividends, brought forward. And they had already deployed 5PH prior to the IPO. |

I've been promoting AMHash for the past few weeks and Rockminer have pretty much ensured that Havelock and Rockminer are the only companies that profit from it.
Well, Havelock profits from all activity on their platform, of course. But, without knowing details of how AMHash is structured, how do you know who profits from it? E.g., maybe RM had underwritten the 5PH and it's not our business whether they want to continue selling fresh shares. |

All theoretical profits of AMHash units sold at IPO are distributed as dividends. AM had better have received sales proceeds for the miners supporting the AMHash units sold at IPO.
As for the AMHash units that did not sell at IPO, there is no information as to the operational concept.

Read OrganofCorti's blog on mining data. And also, its been evident for a while that AM's been splitting their hashrate among pools...the BTCGuild hashing power at the old mining user profile is now AMHash, correct?
If you are referring to the ~ 220 TH/s belonging to id 67117, why do you think it is now AMHash? |

I don't see why they would be competition. Still waiting on SP20 to appear, and that's supposed to be due in Oct. If you managed to take delivery of the SP35 in 30 days, you'd still lose more than if you grabbed the Prisma today. |
