1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is seriously wrong with bitcoin markets. No liquidity? Should we sell? on: March 03, 2024, 10:01:55 AM
I refuse to sell due to the lack of liquidity. Why make it easier for Wall Street to snatch everyone's coins and undermine Bitcoin's usability for its loyal supporters? I propose we hold firm and refrain from selling our crypto. Moreover, I advocate for continued buying, sending a clear message to fund managers. Let's make it costly for them to acquire our coins, demanding over $100,000. Let's not sacrifice our future gains or provide sell liquidity that diminishes our coin's value. It's time to hold Wall Street accountable. Let them drive the price to over a million per coin if they want to incorporate our assets into their ETFs.

Lack of liquidity!?

You can buy/sell BTC *everywhere*

Pleased for everyone that is winning.

I'm still HFSP!

Still wouldn't change a thing Smiley
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is seriously wrong with bitcoin markets. No liquidity? Should we sell? on: February 29, 2024, 12:21:31 PM
I'm not complaining as I purchased 2 bitcoins in 2022 at 21K each, near the lows.

However, is something wrong with the bitcoin markets. I figured this would happen because those ETF's need to use exchanges to purchase coins and how is coinbase going to have the liquidity to deal with the current ETF demand.

What do you think, is there a liquidity crunch and it makes sense to sell now because sellers will come in soon to take advantage of these high prices? Or does it make sense to just hold at this point?

If I was a trader I would look at things like this:

Actual: -$42k
Paper: +$84k
Cost Basis: $21k/BTC
if BTC dies you are $42k down, if it goes to $1million. You still haven't taken profits but you have $1.96m on paper.

If you sell 1:

Actual: +$20k
Paper: +$42k
Cost basis: -$20k/BTC ie

if BTC dies you are $20k up, if it goes to $1million, you missed out on $979k. But you have already taken $20k and have £979k on paper

You have to bet to make money, but if you go broke you have no stake.

Not financial advice but reducing cost basis is one of my favourite risk mitigation strategies.

I don't make the rules!

Thanks for all the great responses. Lot of new faces to me! Good to see Windy still huffin' anna puffin' ;p

For sure there was a little tongue in cheek in my OP, but there was also a grain of truth in there for those that care to take a step back for a second and look.

For anyone mad at me, or worried about my financial situation as a result of my decision to get out of BTC, please don't be, I did alright, I'm doing alright Smiley

I don't mean anyone any ill will, I do tend to think differently to a lot of folk round here but to think I just popped up out of nowhere with a hot take is a bit naive. As one astute observer noted I've been here since 2011, I've seen a few pixels in my time Smiley

Anyone remember the mtgox art thread? Chinese sauces? 6 confirms? heheh. Good times.

I can respect all your individual choices and I hope everyone does well - sure there is probably money to be made by some trading BTC but that was never really my thing. I came for the p2p cash, and from my perspective, we are now in the approach phase everything looking good!

6  Economy / Speculation / Isn't it exciting... on: January 15, 2024, 05:14:28 PM
This is the most bullish I have seen this place in a while. Not long until the ATH again eh!

What could possibly go wrong?

7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 20, 2023, 11:36:16 PM
This is not a bull run. It's just a gyration in the market. It's noise along our predestined path downward. Six months from now the price will be a lot lower than it is.

I have some good Chinese sauce that confirms this x6
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is everyone doing? on: April 24, 2023, 10:04:43 AM
... users don't need to run a full node, right?

Correct!

I make Saylor about $2bn underwater  Shocked
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is everyone doing? on: November 10, 2022, 02:10:29 PM
Thanks for asking. I’ve been mentally preparing myself for a $13K BTC so I’m not too worried yet. I will admit though, I was hoping we would see Bitcoin hold the $20K range. I am curious how deep this recession will be and if interest rates are going to continue rising while assets get clobbered. I still haven’t shut down all my GPU miners though and am still optimistic that once this crash is behind us, there will be brighter days ahead.

Sensible. Whatever views I might have, I don't want to see us plebs losing money, and a surefire way to do that is selling at a loss Smiley

Anyone lucky enough to have taken a few profits at the highs might see some value here. I know "my Bitcoin" is super cheap right now, and I am sat on big "paper" losses!

Be interesting to see how Saylor, Musk et al deal with it, I can't recall their exact respective cost basises (sp?) but they gotta be hurting a little now.
11  Economy / Speculation / How is everyone doing? on: November 10, 2022, 12:34:32 PM
Well, now things get interesting!

We finally come back to what should have been the top at around 16500!

As we all know the past 2 years was Tether's very own version of Willy Bot, but on steroids. It was always going to com out in the wash and now the DoJ/SEC on the case it looks like its gonna be [urhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45elFFLgnEY]scrubbing day[/url] pretty soon...

So, will ~16 hold and become the new base for another speculative run up?

I for one welcome regulation in the space. Yeah I know GUBBERNMENT BAD... but don't forget, the regulators are going after the scammy exchanges and ponzi schemes that are screwing retail investors - they don't care about you and your sovereign Bitcoin, you are not a criminal... right?

Keep your corn off exchanges, use them to transact, respect bast practice for privacy and you get all the benefits of Bitcoin with assurances that nefarious actors can't screw you.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 06, 2022, 10:24:05 AM
That's disingenuous. You are using the term bitcoin to refer to BSV when that is not true.
Disingenuous would be saying that Bitcoin is 'digital gold', when it is obviously supposed to be a peer to peer electronic cash system.

I guess we are just built different.

You think that you know what the fuck you are talking about?

Yes

14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin, I salute your final ATH. on: July 13, 2022, 01:29:25 PM
Let's see how this latest prediction plays out  Grin

The price of bitcoin will not stay above $20k for more than 1 month ever again. Guaranteed.

Currently on Day 5 out of 30. The dumbest thing about this "guaranteed" prediction is that Bitcoin can easily spend 1 month above $20K, reach $30K, then drop lower at the end of the year  Roll Eyes

As naive predictions go, this is up there. It completely ignores that Bitcoin can have a dead cat bounce, for multiple weeks even months, before going back below $20K.

What Bitcoin-haters/BSV-Flat-Earthers have failed to understand is that the narrative during the current bear cycle isn't "When will Bitcoin die?", it's actually now "How low can I buy the DIP?" Cool

They will also never admit it, but they are defintely HODLing Bitcoin. sgbett, prove me wrong. You can't.

I've been consistent and explicit about my BTC holdings.

Thats right. 0 BTC. Zero. Zarro. Nada. Exposure to XBT Provider in case of black swan.

BTC firmly under 20k again. Better reset that counter Smiley

15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Percentage Down from ATH on: July 06, 2022, 09:39:12 PM
What everyone to know is even Bitcoin face a crash every 4 years until now, but the price keep increased!

2013-14: ~$100
2017-18: ~$3,000
2021-22: ~$20,000

We should look on different perspective and if we look on this, we all can say Bitcoin price always increase no bad the crash is. Does 2021-22 the price will go down till 82%? we don't know, but I trust Bitcoin and keep buy every dip if I can.

My models have helped me see into the future.

2013-14: ~$100
2017-18: ~$3,000
2021-22: ~$20,000
2025-26: ~$3,000
2029-30: ~100

You can be sure this is confirmed due to the lack of dollar sign on the 2029-20 price. The value of BTC will in fact just be 100. The number 100. If you send me 1 BTC I will write the number 100 for you on a piece of paper and I will personally confirm it to you in person that it is in fact 100. So you can be sure.

So Opportunity, Such win.

BTC is illegal, good luck fencing those illicit coinz

That's a laughable post coming from someone who believes that BCash SV is the real Bitcoin. We really don't know if you truly believe that, because everyone knows that there's a hidden agenda. You've scammed enough newbies, ser.

Plus welcome back. You chose the best time to post FUD again. FUD that will be memefied in two years. Make the FUD good. We salute you.

You can be sure I only post what I truly believe.

BSV is Bitcoin. Craig is Satoshi. BTC will collapse.

See!

Now, you may call it FUD, but I call it relentless optimism about the assured future success of Bitcoin (for over 10 years now) Smiley
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin, I salute your final ATH. on: July 06, 2022, 09:21:55 PM
im no trader but to my untradered eye this chart appears to contain confirmations indicating there are more ticks before, in fact there are more than 6. The chance of double spend here is astronomically small.

You might trick newbies and scare them, but you will be remembered as the person who made them believe that Bitcoin will not surge to another ATH again, WHEN it's in actual ATH again. Keep trolling, and continue the swindle of making everyone believe that BCash SV is the real Bitcoin. Bitcoin will reach six digits, and you will keep posting that meme. It will be laughable.

Don't be silly! I won't be remembered for anything at all. When the dust settles there will be so many others that will have much more memorable reputations than I Smiley
