If the idea is really a valuable one, you get an NDA, a good contract, and you talk to people who you are willing to pay good money to in order to help your idea to come to fruition.

Don't expect anything more than vague promises if you aren't willing to do those things. Needless to say, if you aren't willing to spend a lot of money on whatever your idea is, then it probably is not an amazing one to begin with.

If you want to timestamp documents yourself, without needing to use a third-party service, you can use the OP_RETURN opcode to create an invalid transaction, & put ~40 bytes of arbitrary data into the scriptPubKey of a transaction output. You can either store a (small!) hash in there, some UTF8 encoding, or similar, referencing your document. Then you have a record in the blockchain (although certain nodes will prune it upon seeing the OP_RETURN opcode) of your message, timestamped.

Unfortunately the way that most older members act on this forum encourages it. There's so, so many threads which are so obviously just made as a merit grab. "List of all X's" (normally something to do with merit), some weird thread stating something that's obvious to everyone already, etc, and bonus points if they can come up with an excuse to update it regularly. These then get flooded with merit...perhaps partially due to the fact that a lot of people have trouble getting rid of all their sMerit right now, so posts that aren't amazing get a lot regardless.

I'm not sure why you would release this now while the project is in it's infancy. You obviously know that this is not a particularly original idea, you're not the first to come up with the idea of a web wallet that supports microtransactions - so why would you announce/release your product now while that is all that it does, rather than waiting until you have something more novel to wow people with and releasing it then?

It is pretty much ready for usage; it's probably 95% complete. As far as I'm aware currently the main focus is on bug fixing and adding a couple more niche things that Bitcointalk needs to be able to use epochtalk as its main software. For a smaller forum that's starting off, small bugs and the like probably aren't an issue as there isn't a lot to lose, but you kind of want some relatively polished software before starting the long process of migration from SMF.

You can manage without 2FA if you are using an uncompromised email and both your email password and forum password are securely managed by a 2FA-backed up password manager. I don't think there is any reasonable way for 2FA to be implemented while we are on SMF.

Maybe I'm just being a bit thick, but how exactly is this a peer-to-peer casino project when you literally state in your post that it has a client-side and a server-side application to it? This sounds more like open source software that allows casino owners to run a casino server, but it doesn't sound like it's peer-to-peer.

That doesn't really make it a Bitcoin 'project' in my eyes, there are plenty of food suppliers that sell traditional food and could easily hook up their payment systems to BitPay or something similar.

You might want to provide a bit more information about your project as this is Project Development, so you should share some simple details about your plan and roadmap for the website, raising awareness about it, what you would like for it to do differently to other websites in the crypto news space, and so on and so forth.

This is blatantly false. I have no idea whether you know that or not as it's 50/50 as to whether you do know that, but are just being deceptive, or whether you are simply just dumb.

There are plenty of jurisdictions in which promises made in correspondence or verbal agreement can be considered a written contract with or without a signature. And in the jurisdictions where it's not considered a "written contract", it can still be considered implied, and so you would still receive a red flag on this forum.

Arguing over the nuance of whether or not the contract was 'written' rather than as to whether or not you scammed him shows how much of a low-life you are.

I realized a couple weeks ago that I met the DT1 requirements other than for having a custom list (which I had gotten rid of despite having one before), so conjured one up to the best of my ability.

I'm not sure how long I'll be on DT1 because I'll be negating people off my trust list who I think blatantly abuse the system, and once I start doing that they'll likely negate me too which could make me drop off - but ah well, I think it's more important to make clear my thoughts on people using the trust system for things such as "I disagree with what this person says".

You wrote this, right? Writing this or things to this effect creates something with equivalence to a written contract in many jurisdictions, there have been court cases won over things scrawled on napkins before so an email with an explicit promise like that would definitely be upheld in a court.

This is a relatively basic example of proper cold storage, in fact I'd probably say that Bitcoin Core on an airgapped computer is the most simple form of cold storage you can get. If you're using a virtual machine that's effectively still a hot wallet as a hacker with access to the host machine can gain access to the virtual machine.

There are many tutorials on how to set up cold storage, but the most simple way is: Set up a PC that has no internet connection, download a Bitcoin wallet to a USB stick, install it on the PC with no internet connection, randomly generate a private key and import it onto the airgapped PC, and then send Bitcoin to that wallet. Your Bitcoin is now in cold storage.

When you want to get Bitcoin off that machine, you generate a transaction on an online computer using the public key of the cold storage wallet's address, transfer the transaction file to the cold storage computer, sign it on that computer using the cold storage's private key, and then finally move it back onto the online computer and broadcast it.

Wow man, you're horrible. He's not being rude, he's just asking if he can leverage his cryptography knowledge for a job or to earn some money. Rather than treating him like an asshole for daring to say that he wants to try to use his time and skills to make some money, how about give him some constructive feedback or tell him how to improve - although I'd assume you have no real feedback to give, hence you instead just reverted to attacking him so you could still get a post in.

To the OP: There are many startups hiring people with knowledge of blockchain technology specifically. I'd try to leverage your cryptography knowledge to learn more about how a blockchain can be used in different contexts and industries.

I'm still working on my entry, I will get it in before the competition ends though Just got a lot to work on right now so it's kind of been on the backburner, but I'll definitely get it in by the 15th!
