461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT - Officially #REKT (also goes for BIP101 fraud) on: November 08, 2015, 12:59:04 AM
It's clear now XT is destiend to disappear and the fork will not happen, thank god. It's also clear tho that alot of people want a bigger blocksize, but not arbitrary increases of the blocksize which all it does is exposing the network to all kind of attacks and things we don't even know because we would be in unknown territory. Yes for blocksize increase and yes for scaling up Bitcoin globally to beat VISA etc, but do it with common sense.

This was what we saw at the start of the thread.

Unfortunately, I am now not so sure now that Coinbase is trying to manipulate the entire community and centralise the decision making for their own benefit. It does not help that /r/bitcoin has descended into circlejerking against theymos and in the process started circlejerking Coinbase and BIP101 to try and get a 1-up over theymos.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: November 08, 2015, 12:57:20 AM
Yeah, WU fees are quite ridiculous. Though in all fairness you could make the same argument with something like PayPal where you can send to friends and family for no fees, but obviously it falls flat in that it's very much centralized and also has quite high fees if you use it for commercial transactions. I think WU is going to get hit with a wakeup call very quickly.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase is overstepping the bounds we should give it regarding Bitcoin XT on: November 08, 2015, 12:55:44 AM
Every businesses that uses Bitcoin will want to have bigger blocks and not giving any voting power to the miners, deal with it.

Coinbase is just the first that has clearly given a state to this issue, just wait for all the others.

Deal with it?

I'm sorry?

Are you trying to say that we should all just allow the businesses to take control of the decision making for the Bitcoin community, essentially centralising the decision-making and ruining what Bitcoin is supposed to be all about?
464  Economy / Economics / Re: Look at that 24hr volume on Bitstamp on: November 08, 2015, 12:51:40 AM
I actually think it's a good sign if we return to normal BTC volumes that we would regularly see but maintain this price level of around $380-390. Keeping a stable price level around this area with a normal volume would be a good sign that this price level is here to stay in my opinion - it's been relatively stable the past couple days.

It gives more confidence isnt it. Merchants and shoppers like stable prices, instead of huge volatility.

I would also like it bitcoin would have a stable growth, but only after it reaches more than 10,000$ Cheesy

Perhaps. Tongue I do think that if we do drop down to a lower volume but maintain this price level we can be sure that it has stabilised for now and is unlikely to drop back down to the $200s, so I'm actually quite looking forward to the volume dropping more as long as the price remains the same! It has so far Smiley

I can't tell if you're just roping yourself into a really bad deal or just a really obvious scammer, especially with the fact you're a Newbie. Come on. This is just embarassing.
I would hope he isn't a scammer, because trying to scam for this amount of coin is a massive waste of time.

I would suggest to use an escrow if anyone decides to carry this out, however for this amount fees would likely eat up a fair portion of the transaction; it isn't really worth it.

Either way, trade with caution. I've seen people scam for amounts as little as $2 before, it does happen Wink It's quite sad, but there are people who will go that low...you can never be too careful when you're exchanging a non-reversible currency for a reversible currency with someone who has absolutely no reputation or trust, it's the definition of a recipe for disaster.

Cardz as I know about Perfect Money there's no chance to do chargeback there let me know if Im wrong, in  a need of btc I think people will pay 5 for 2 kinda high rate but.... eitherway the other 2 are possible chargebacked.

Hmm, I don't know, I don't have much experience with Perfect Money. If the OP has a successful trade with someone and doesn't charge it back after a little while then I'll gladly remove the negative rep that I've left on them for now as it's simply a warning to trade with caution as it's quite risky to do this when they just come out of the blue asking for it.
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is their any safe methods to gamble? on: November 08, 2015, 12:46:00 AM
As I said before, if you aren't good enough to play odds on something like esports betting what you really want to be doing for guaranteed profit is matched betting where you take advantage of the bonuses on multiple sportsbooks to make bets that are guaranteed to make you profit. You need to be careful that you don't get roped into making a deposit that is going to be extremely hard to recuperate due to the rules of the bonus, though.

You should see the developments on the thread in Scam Accusations against BitcoinStriker. You might even be able to catch a bit of THC that's been pumped into the air of the thread, it really is a great way to get a bit of Mary Jane in your body.

Oh, come on dude. You're not even trying here. $5 of a reversible currency for $2 BTC? I can't tell if you're just roping yourself into a really bad deal or just a really obvious scammer, especially with the fact you're a Newbie. Come on. This is just embarassing.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: November 08, 2015, 12:35:49 AM
I gamble for fun, and the advantage of that is if you get lucky you can get out of it with a good buck.

Reminds me of the days when people would gamble on BitVegas for fun, with drinks and the VIP lounge...ah, those were good times. Now it's just people using a bunch of alt accounts to try to milk faucets all day long.

Mind you, that happened on BitVegas as well.

472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: November 08, 2015, 12:30:45 AM
Gambling for a living is only possible if you have such a ridiculously high bankroll and are so good at playing odds on sportsbooks or esports betting that you should really be spending your time doing something else and making even more money. Unless you are crazy with matched betting and take full advantage of it, in which case maybe it's possible, but usually it's just for supplementary income.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is happening with deleted btc wallets? on: November 08, 2015, 12:28:48 AM
If you think about it this way, then there is not going to be 21 million in circulation. Most people have lost their coins in this fashion, so essentially they are out of circulation.

Indeed. Many people believe that millions of Bitcoins have already been lost, for instance when the price was much lower and people forgot about them. If Bitcoin does become large then it is extremely likely we will see the main unit of Bitcoin shift to either the mBTC or satoshi, or possibly even lower with the amount that BTC is divisible by being increased.
474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase is overstepping the bounds we should give it regarding Bitcoin XT on: November 08, 2015, 12:25:05 AM
IIRC coinbase holds no mining equipment nor have plans to invest in it. Overwhelming majority of the miners are currently blocking XT and as long as this keeps going we're safe.

Indeed, and we have seen some mining pools openly come out against BIP101 and state they will continue mining BIP100 blocks. But:

So what happens when Coinbase, BitPay and Blockchain try to get us to move to XT?

a) We move and state that we are fine with the big companies pushing us around, and the dream of Bitcoin being a decentralized currency where the decisions are made mainly by the users is dead.

b) Consensus for BIP101 fails and Coinbase, BitPay and Blockchain are left failing. The Bitcoin price will crash if something as dramatic as this happens.

These companies are leading us down a rocky road for their own personal gain.

BitPay and Blockchain have stated they intend to change to BIP101 by the end of December. It's going to create a rocky road where we hit a) or b), and b) seems quite possible in the near future.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase is overstepping the bounds we should give it regarding Bitcoin XT on: November 08, 2015, 12:22:47 AM
I don't know what did you guys expect from the Coinbase. If someone gives himself a right to track the way you spend your bitcoins. If someone also gives himself a right to close your accounts as he wish, didn't you expect that they would do something like this?

They have totally crossed the line but I am not surprised at all.

Indeed. It's unfortunate that /r/bitcoin is too busy circlejerking in an anti-theymos brigade that they have started circlejerking over Coinbase and BIP101 as a result to try to maximise how much of an "edgy cryptoanarchist" they can become by "sticking it to censorship". The real issue here has been completely buried and Coinbase is just rubbing their hands and leaning back in their chairs.
476  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitcoinStriker [Hero Member] == Tymer [Member, Scammer] (== HueSinger [Newbie]) on: November 08, 2015, 12:16:09 AM
I hope you sleep better at night thinking you did something right when actually you did something wrong.

The ol' guilt-trip method. Gotta love people who use that, because it usually shows that you don't actually have any real proof to show you're innocent and you've just truly gotten desperate or given up entirely.

Mate, you didn't provide any real proof. I don't know if you think you did, but the proof against you far outmatches the "proof" in your favour.
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to "wash" your coins on: November 08, 2015, 12:13:32 AM
Can i ask you ? why you interested to wash your coins ?

About half of the people who wash their coins are trying to launder them or not be connected to activities related to scamming, while the other half are genuinely just looking for privacy and do not want to be traced through their transactions, especially for large transactions of thousands of BTC.
478  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Popular Bitcoin Gambling Websites [Up-to-date as of 7th Nov '15] on: November 08, 2015, 12:08:42 AM
I read up on the Crypto-Games issue a bit and I'm currently getting CG's side of the story from one of their staff. Their rating will remain as-is for now. Edit: After discussing how they handled it, compensation given to investors to fix lost profit, etc, I am satisfied with the way they handled it. Trustworthiness remains the same IMHO, they handled it well, even if they appeared publicly to be a bit harsh.

I'm not sure how you could have read the thread and come to that conclusion. They were shown clearly the exploit, multiple third parties reproduced and started exploited it. And their reaction was to mock the idea of their code having an exploit. They then put a fix in place which didn't fix the issue, but only the UI and then continued to trash talk and brag about how the controversy will help their site.

I talked to them and they agreed and acknowledged that their reaction was bad and that the situation was handled badly. However, I also found out that investors were compensated so that they did not lose any BTC due to the exploits. I feel that it was still fairly handled.

Quote
PRC...well yes, Dean was trash previously. I feel like he's gotten his act together recently though. Trustworthiness for PRC is still only at a B+ and it will remain there, I have no plans to increase or decrease it.
I disagree, he's corrosive and full of shit as ever

Well, he does annoy me a lot with his constant bickering about his rating on this thread, but there is still a lot of money entrusted to PRC which they haven't run with.

I found the stats faking info eventually, thanks though. I don't feel like there was that much of an issue there, they are pretty spot on with everything else other than that which didn't really harm bettors or investors themselves.
479  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Popular Bitcoin Gambling Websites [Up-to-date as of 7th Nov '15] on: November 08, 2015, 12:00:12 AM
Made some changes so that it is easier to distinguish between the quality of the sites in the overview.

Pink colour indicates that this website is one of the best in its field for the stated criteria. It's a coveted prize for only the best sites!

In addition, A- now has a slightly darker, pale green to help you distinguish between those sites with mainly A-s and those sites with mainly As and A+s.

I may decide to implement an A* (read A-star) grade in the future so that I can create a more accurate scale of grades and differences between the sites.

In my opinion, this change makes the overview much higher in quality. Any opinions are appreciated Smiley
480  Economy / Speculation / Re: Five digits on: November 07, 2015, 11:45:09 PM
5 digits is at least $10k. The price will not be that high for a few years. It also depends on the general adoption of bitcoin.

It will take several months at most.

Definitely not several years.

If you want to make fun of me, quote this in 2017 if it hasn't come true.

Sure.

You're saying that by January-February 2016 we should be expecting prices in excess of $1000 when the bitcoin price has been stagnant pretty much since December of 2013. I just don't see us going that high in such a small time period with the price history of bitcoin, there's no logic for it.
