Pretty funny to see the Biden administration start attempting to pander to the crypto community now that they see it is impossible for Joe Biden to win the next election. Even with the coming mail in ballot fraud and use of illegals immigrants to vote, they still won’t be able to muster up enough to keep him in the White House. I suspect this will be a positive for Bitcoin going forward as politicians are embracing our community in an attempt to win over some support.

I think it's more likely that they're all preparing to take their bitcoins and run when it all starts falling down.

Well, except one person who will probably just be falling down themselves.

Faketoshi has serious mental problems, I think it's even an illness, a kind of psychopathy.

It's impossible for him to be a normal person, these are serious distortions of reality....

You need to go to a mental hospital

I think it's more that he's just a straight-up conman. That he's still walking around free may be an indication that he's working for someone too.

I am close to leaving this game I did it a long time .

Take a look at the economy. You may want to leave the game but the game may not want to leave you. Never go full fiat and all that.

Interesting: money you need to make as a household (or withdraw or have the cash flow) in various US states to be middle class:

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/16/salary-needed-to-be-middle-class-in-every-us-state.html

It's more reasonable in TX than in NJ and MD (DC area, I assume).

Does that take into effect being under water or without utilities in life threatening situations?

The former can generally be avoided by not living in low-lying areas and flood plains. The latter was notable because it was a rare event (unlike rolling blackouts in CA that were a thing for a while).

The market is going wild today. I guess people are seeing the bad housing numbers and are ready for the government to start hitting the markets with stimulus again? Inflation isn’t even under control yet… This is 100% the worst financial state the country has been in during my lifetime. 2008 was bad but if you kept your job asset prices were a blessing. This time everyone is getting hurt by inflation and soon dropping home prices… Meanwhile the government debt is so out of control they will be forced to cut rates, further stoking inflation while home equity gets wiped out to pay for everyday items. Own nothing and be happy, or own Bitcoin and be stressed. LOL

The thing to remember about rampant money printing is that someone has to get that money (it's not you, sorry) and then they want to put that money somewhere which is pretty much going to be real estate and the stock market (the latter especially during an election year). So number go up.

With the tulip bubble, it wasn't so much that suddenly everyone was nutty about tulips. There was a lot of surplus money sloshing around so irrational things started happening. One might expect something similar to start happening. The answer? Bitcoin.

Sure looks like it’s Ukraine that’s going to get the next infusion, or are you considering that is already happening? I would think India would be China’s target, along with Africa. I have a little bit different take on the US motivation behind these foreign investments. I think the US gives away so much money to other countries because they want to make sure more people are using the dollar. Sort of a sneaky way to print money and grow adoption without causing more inflation that the USD has benefitted from for 100+ years. This playbook will burn once the BRICS currency takes hold (could have been BTC if it could scale on chain).

It's been happening for a good while. Hence the fuss when it started to be looked into. Probably the big turning point was the government changes in 2014 which some allege the US had some involvement in.

oh, my, ChartBuddy can speak now...run for the hills,  Grin Grin

Haha. Oops. Chartbuddy has no opinion about the absolutely depraved corruption in The Ukraine. And he has no knowledge about its reputation as a hive of scum and villainy due to the "No droids allowed" policy.

I'll repost as me:

Ditto

Risky. I read something that said the price goes down more than it does up but when it goes up, it goes up by more than it goes down.

...or build yourself a 2-output transaction, where one is your intended payment destination and the other a change address you already control. Then sign it and broadcast it. Bitcoin DIY for OGs, I guess...

Yep. You can even use the original address as the change address if you want. Several wallets used to do this but it's reckoned as bad practice now.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 07, 2024, 01:57:39 AM
WTF, Is it believable for a low amount transaction of this fee.

4 may 2024, someone paid $100,608 fees for their $6 amount Bitcoin transfer.

Hmm. No change address. Weird. I don't think any legit wallet would miss that.

Looks like they mixed up the fee and the output fields, ie meant to send the ~1.6 btc

There is no fee field. Any fund not allocated is the fee. Usually you have the target and the change address (though you can't necessarily tell which is which) but you can have more target addresses if you want.

First of all an asset has to have either a stream of income - stocks give you dividends, bond give you a coupon, loans give you an interest rate, real estate gives you rent...
or it has to have some utility -  housing, if you don't rent it, gives you housing services, commodity, you eat them, use them for energy, use them for lots of production stuff including precious metals
gold, silver platinum.  Gold has utility also, is also used as jewelry has been used as jewelry forever (goes on a tangent about tacky bitcoin jewelry)... so, so, so either has income or has utility or
is used in industry or to be a stable store of value... has to be stable in terms of CPI or some index of prices. Somethings volatile ten plus... ten plus one day, twenty percent down the other day

I'd have stopped him right there. Just from the length alone, that's clearly a definition that's crafted to fit an agenda.

An asset is simply something you own that has an exchangeable (market) value. You don't need to go further than that.

Now, you could argue that Bitcoin is not an asset but a distributed ledger but that doesn't seem to be the point he is trying to make.

There is an incident code there so I'm not sure if you can check that?

Perhaps the security system has been increased a little, which may make it difficult to upload in this way.
I will send you a PM with an API, so you can try to do this via the API.  Wink

Nah, it was just the mimetype thing. I'll have a look at the API.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 01, 2024, 02:13:36 PM
Not a biggie, yet, of course, but it is enticing to think about why this is happening.
I don't buy into P. Brandt 25% probability that bitcoin has already exhausted it's bull phase as it would be quite pathetic of a bull, but it seems that some macro factors are playing into this: maybe persistent inflation and hence no easing or maybe stagflation (albeit it is ridiculous to expect stagflation when we just started the AI era). I am reading that % of people not paying their bills is increasing in parallel with the credit card debt (1.2 tril in US). maybe the large %% of the population is simply broke (even with almost full employment)Huh

It's not that unexpected. The halving generated interest and raises prices, putting more coins on the market and dampening the effect of the supply shock. The lowered availability of coins has its effect eventually though.

With that said, current financial conditions are a concern and it would be foolish to think they were having no effect.

Thx buddy

Few weeks/months back I would have been happy with that recap

Yup would have been fun when were sailing smooth although we still in high seas.

Anyway also why starting at 19:00? Any specific reason or just random selection?

I worked out the bug, threw out the last 24h then allowed it to work as normal. I though about doing the whole missing range but that was 5 days.
17  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: April 30, 2024, 06:16:03 PM
Looks like it just needed the mimetype added.

OK, so...

Obviously, nothing changed at my end but as I'm using Curl, it's possible that something changed under the covers that I need to account for. But I'm looking at the network traffic for a successful upload and I'm not seeing anything different than what I am doing (but I'm only digging surface level so far).

Successful upload through browser:

I assemble the form like so:

Code:
 my $form = WWW::Curl::Form->new();
 $form->formaddfile("$filename",'source', 'image/png'
 );

 $form->formadd('type','file');
 $form->formadd('action','upload');
 $form->formadd('timestamp',time());
 $form->formadd('auth_token',$auth);
 $form->formadd('expiration','');
 $form->formadd('nsfw','0');

$i->setopt( CURLOPT_HTTPPOST(), $form );

But the error I am now getting is:

Code:
{"status_code":500,"error":{"message":"\u2b55\ufe0f Something went wrong \u2022 Incident ID:663132d5a78cf","type":"Chevere\\Throwable\\Exceptions\\ErrorException","time":"2024-04-30T18:05:09+00:00","code":0,"id":"663132d5a78cf"},"status_txt":"Internal Server Error"}

There is an incident code there so I'm not sure if you can check that?

I'm getting 500 internal service errors.

Were you using any API?

It's just that at the moment all services are ON.

Just Curl in Perl.

Maybe you changed the way the auth token was passed in the first page. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
