101  Other / Meta / Re: Can we please have a way to sort threads in a sub-forum as per merit? on: September 26, 2018, 07:05:28 PM

I guess I know more... I will need to look for it.

It is especially required for the following subs IMHO...
1. Bitcoin Discussion
2. Development & Technical Discussion
3. Beginners & Help
My heart bleeds when I see most of the people in Bitcoin Discussion section are spamming. Beginners & Help section also have the same problem but as a forum specialise in promoting bitcoin I guess we need more focus on Bitcoin Discussion section to keep it clean. I have no idea about Development & Technical Discussion section.

102  Other / Serious discussion / misleading marketing from bitcoin[dot]com culprits on: September 26, 2018, 06:13:41 PM
Check this out! These Bcash people are shamelessly using the emotion of bitcoin. They are even doing email marketing like those hype type online business does to promote their MLM stuffs.

I got the following email from them today. Notice the way they are calling you.

Quote
Dear Bitcoiner,
Seriously! What's wrong with saying, "Dear Bitcoin Casher," or they are too ashamed to use their own coin name?

At the end they said...
Quote
Team Bitcoin[dot]com

Again, seriously! They are not bitcoin[dot]com, they should be bitcoinCash[dot]com.

ps: I hope you get the idea why I was not using the "." on their domain name.

How long these culprits will use the name of Bitcoin to promote their shitcoin and mislead people to buy into that altcoin? How do we stop it?
103  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestions] - Copper Membership requires some tweaking || Restrictions in Meta on: September 23, 2018, 06:13:07 PM
I would love to know the viewpoints of people on these two issues.
Questions and arguments are welcome too.
I understand that there are people who are misusing the forum. They are creating new accounts and spamming the forum. There could be automated bots as well. People are trying to make money with signature spamming, bounty spamming etc etc, I understand all these, honestly I do.

But...

I also feel that the forum is behaving very hard on newbies. Think about people like me... I joined this forum out of curiosity.
Other day while I was doing something, I discovered that this forum is going to create a newer version which is costing them 5000 BTC!!! So I could not resist to register to see what exactly you guys have in here....

I have no intention to spam here and there (you are welcome to visit my post history), I have no time for that. I had conversations with some forum members and I found them very friendly, helpful that gave a good impression. I do not post very often like you guys but when I find some spare time I like to make comments here and there with no intention of spamming. Don't you think there are many users like me?

I am lucky that I earned some merit and no more a newbie but if I would not earn those merit and stayed as a newbie then I do not think I would even bother to comeback to this forum. Often times, a person can feel they are being treated disrespectfully. I would feel the same.

Please do be too hard to a group of people just because some spammers has intentions to spam the forum. The forum might lose future good forum members. You never know what's hidden inside a person. If someone turns out a spammer then there should be mods who can ban them but don't just stop everyone.

I hope this will not upset anyone. It's an opinion and I absolutely understand that my philosophy and someone else's philosophy will not be the same.
104  Other / Meta / Re: Are Legendary and other higher rank members abusing the Merit System? on: September 23, 2018, 12:04:43 PM
For these two posts i just don't want to comment about it because it seems to me that, the rules are being broken for some people Undecided

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.msg28856972#msg28856972
You have not done your homework properly. What I see is that those posts were from very early days of introducing the merit system. That time most of the people did not understand very well before they send merit to each others. I was not there that time however this is a guess using commonsense.

Quote
the point is Legendary members are not ranking up to any further rank
Merit does have a use to appreciate good quality posts, it's not just linked to ranking up. A good quality post does not have to be a very long and highly constructive. A single line comment could be a good post depending on the humor expressed on the comment.

105  Other / Meta / Re: Growing Blackmarket for Merit trading on: September 22, 2018, 07:22:31 PM
Well!! Merits can be traded in exchange for USD

14$ seems a lucrative deal for anyone, and there is a discount as well when looking for >5 merits.

In the Russian section prices are lower  Smiley

106  Other / Meta / Re: Hosting provider for BitcoinTalk on: September 14, 2018, 08:16:47 PM
Thanks guys for the answers so far... So, I got...
...DigitalOcean, LLC...

...NForce...

Quote
..PrivateInternetAccess that had something to do..

...server(s) are located in theymos' living room...

AFAIK it's AWS.

But which one is correct? I always wonder if it is possible to have hosting and domain by being anonymous? We talk about anonymity but the truth is the entire social/professional system has designed such a way that you have to provide your identity somewhere to some group like it or not.

I see a BIG question mark there  Grin
107  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 07:51:08 PM
Does this sound like a good idea? Is anyone interested in producing this content?

I have already planned for it and created a channel. Here : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxUX4m1kFAlKHT2Tq_p5Bng

Note: This is an ongoing project and an approach to experiment the admin's (theymos) proposal of Idea: Courses. I can make mistakes, please feel free to review the tutorial clips and help me to improve the experience for the members in need.

I always believed that a video can tech teach more than writing contents or learning from pictures.

I would appreciate a review on this topic if you have time: Courses [Video Tutorial 1.1.2 - Getting Started with Bitcoin Wallet]

This could be one of many ideas to present the contents.
108  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Should we stop expose scam ? And how working trust system. on: September 13, 2018, 11:19:41 PM
Should we stop expose scam ICO?
Why would you if you like and enjoy doing it. What inspires you when you go and do research to expose an ICO/project? What is your motivation? If this is to get them tagged by the DTs then your motivation is wrong. If your motivation is caring the community (by community I mean everyone in the cryptospace not just bitcoinTalk) then keep doing it because people out there who never heard about bitcoinTalk they don't care about whether a DT tagged the scammers of not - they care about the information. If your information is solid then you are helping them to save their hard earned money.

So I ask again, what is your inspiration?

Quote
Trust System:
.... positive rating (green trust ) is for succesful trading, like bought some token or coin. I can't see much green trust for forum activity. Is this really need to give positive rating for successful trade ? Can't be use neutral feedback ?
If I am happy after buying some coin from a user from this forum then you are saying that I should not leave them a positive feedback? Why? I think they deserve it.

Quote
Why there is neutral feedback option?
If you are not happy with a trade but somehow you are not sure that if you should leave a negative trust for that then use the neutral trust.

Leaving trust for something is subjective. You may think a neutral trust is okay for a trade but for the same trade someone else will think a positive trust is more appropriate than a negative.

Quote
Sometimes green trust made confuse. May be someone will trust him/her blindly without check trust comment.
Why would you blindly trust anyone? Do your due diligence. Go to their trust page and read the contents, go through the references then make your own judgement before making a deal.
109  Other / Meta / Re: Request an account using the latest account on: September 11, 2018, 09:33:24 PM
I had questions too. If it is permanent banned, is the owner be able to log in his/her banned account or not?
What I read so far and my understanding so far is: you can log in but can not post anything. It's the same for a temp banned and permanent banned account.

Quote
As mentioned if it is temporary ban then you can use it or not.
Once the ban will be lifted then you can use it as a regular account and I am confident about it.
110  Other / Meta / Hosting provider for BitcoinTalk on: September 11, 2018, 09:24:18 PM
I am not sure if I am asking an embarrassing question. I tried to find the hosting service provider for BitcoinTalk online but failed. I hope someone here will help me to find it.

I understand cloudflare is taking care of security and stuffs however who is providing us the hosting service? I believe theymos is anonymous meaning his identity is hidden (I am guessing) to the hosting service providers too. In that case who was/is his choice?

Sorry, if I sound stupid but I needed to know. Thanks in advance.

114  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk.to mirror site? on: September 06, 2018, 08:48:45 AM
I recently came across bitcointalk.to opposed to bitcointalk.org and was just wondering if it was a mirror site? To be honest it came across a little phisshy to me.
This is a phishing site. Do not enter your details there. If you already entered the credentials then change your password here immediately or today/tomorrow you will find that your account got hacked.

Here are few more I spotted on the other day...
Code:
bitcointalk.[net]
bitcointa[ll]k.[org]
bitcointa[I]k.[org]

Avoid all these sites. Better bookmark the URL of this original forum address.
115  Other / Meta / Re: Should I reply to topics with more or less replies? For the merit? on: September 05, 2018, 05:28:58 PM
...on topics that have 1-3 replies or topics that 6-10+ replies?...
I am gonna tell you the SECRET now but before I do that, I would like you to promise that you will not share this secret with anyone else except the visitors on this topic.

In addition to 1-3 and 6-10+, reply the topics which have exactly 0 and  4-5 replies too  Smiley

117  Other / Serious discussion / What is school for? on: September 04, 2018, 08:39:13 PM
Please watch the video from Prince Ea before making a comment with you views.

Here are some picks:
# Fear that avoids eye contacting with the teacher
# Afraid to raise the hand for fear of being wrong

-Is school a factory for learning or building up the intellect?
-What is the priority for a school? (test?)
-An extra hour of sleep is more beneficial for a student instead of putting them into an extra essay, reading 150 pages etc?
-Who was suppose to teach you the time management skills?
-"Use your time wisely". What do the teachers mean when they say it?

Also, Codishmumu is in the list twice, not sure if that was on purpose because they're just that entertaining or a secret plan to rig the vote.
That is why I was suggesting to order them alphabetically. Visibility factor also counts when it comes to votinge...

Is there any order on this list? If not then may I suggest alphabetic order?

120  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need to idea for start bitcoin project with 20 BTC! on: September 04, 2018, 05:42:15 PM
I don't think OP needs to prove that just yet. This is more of an invitation to pitch/brainstorm ideas. Imagine asking everyone who wants to potentially invest to verify their balances beforehand. It's not necessary until something materialistic formulates.
This is the same reason I have asked OP for a singed message. Have a look on few posts above, I do not think there are some people who are giving brainstorming idea. Me personally will not even bother to drop a message here with any idea. These place is noisy, I mean very noisy. Tomorrow someone else will come and say they have 50BTC and looking for idea. If I was seriously looking for idea then I would not simply drop a message like this...
Hi

I have 24 BTC, i bought 7 btc about 5 years ago and raise up it with trade and primedice.
I want to start a BTC Project with 20 btc, if do you have an BTC idea project, please tell me.

We can corporate together for do it.
You must have expertise in the field of the project.

Thanks
They would put some thoughts, their previous background, experience, skills etc if the person was really serious about ideas.

Based on what you want to give him idea?

If the person is a plumber but you end up giving him an idea about how to build AI robots do you think s/he will understand your idea?
