101  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] GPUs+PSU+MOBO on: April 15, 2013, 03:50:53 AM
I'd take it if I were you the only reason I even offered that much is I have an empty board waiting for cards, and new cards are selling out like hotcakes, lol
102  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whould this be ok for a mining rig? 10 7950's on: April 14, 2013, 10:29:12 PM
also is this a powered riser? http://www.amfeltec.com/products/x1pcie-riser.php

What is the difference between a powered riser and a regular extender? What would I need for my 7960's?

cablesaurus is the only place that sells them otherwise you can make it from a regular extender by cutting a couple wires off with an exacto-knife and soldering a molex connection on the end. Search for the how to in the forums if you want to try it
103  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whould this be ok for a mining rig? 10 7950's on: April 14, 2013, 10:26:48 PM
Depends on the 7950 I just bought some HIS 7950's they used almost 300 watts at stock. The only solution was flashing the bios. Five 7950's will almost surely need at least one/maybe two powered pcie risers. I have one motherboard which won't even reliably initialize 3 7970's without it

I think the PSU is more than adequate as all the reviews I read the cards didn't go above 200Watts on full load, so that's 1K for 5 cards, and 300 for the mobo and cpu. I have this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811517013

With a big 250MM fan and 2X 120MM fans, do you think there will be to much heat in the case? Or would it be ok?
104  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] GPUs+PSU+MOBO on: April 14, 2013, 08:34:12 AM
I could do $200 worth of btc for the 4 5770's with escrow.
105  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7950 problem ! [solved] on: April 13, 2013, 07:51:28 PM
You must have one of the 7950's that defaults to 1.25v. Yea you can probably just undervolt with trix but a better solution is a 7970 bios. I have the HIS IceQ 7950 I used the bios from the HIS IceQ x2 7970. I assume you probably can use any reference 7970 bios if yours is a reference 7950 otherwise you probably need to stick with the same brand if its a non-reference. Power usage is around 170w now per card, instead of 250w.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sapphire 7950 4L locked at ~520 kh/s on: April 12, 2013, 01:37:57 AM
I'm having issues with my 7950 as well. If its like mine it will not overclock unless you raise the powertune or board limit. If you do it runs extremely hot at 1.25v. It almost seems as this was intentional to make the 7970 alot better than this one. I have tried the gigabyte 7970 bios on mine and it has helped slighty

I must be blind then if it is there because I did read the readme before I posted. So I still don't know

is there an api call that resets stats/shares? same thing as pushing "d" than "z". If not can you add one?

109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC ZERO CONFIRMATIONS!? What is going on? on: April 07, 2013, 07:26:21 PM
coinotron is still solving 90% of the blocks if they are on a block for several hours don't expect a confirm until they do
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [100 GH] (2% DGM) - COINOTRON pool - Stratum, ASIC tested on: April 07, 2013, 12:40:56 AM
Is anyone getting decent performance from the ppc pool and if so how? I only get about half the ppc I should and my hashrate stays about half while the pool hashrate goes insanely higher. Miners constantly have fans spinning up and down load going to 0% and back to full load

you need stratum support now for his trc pool only on port 3335 so you may need to update to the latest cgminer

hello, no matter what i try, i cannot get my guiminer srypt to work with coinotron trc pool

i get:
2013-04-06 21:23:45: Listener for "TRC2": Creating 1 GPU threads
2013-04-06 21:23:45: Listener for "TRC2": 1...done
2013-04-06 21:23:45: Listener for "TRC2": Error 52 getting work. See http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html for error code explanations.
2013-04-06 21:23:45: Listener for "TRC2": 2013-04-06 21:23:45 Couldn't connect to server. Trying again in a few seconds...

using guiminer-scrypt inbuilt reaper
guiminer-scrypt default just starts and doesnt do anything

any ideas?
cgminer doesnt work for me somehow, but im being able to mine litecoin
111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [VIDEO] Butterfly Labs (BFL) Bitforce SC ASIC Test on: March 31, 2013, 02:30:02 AM
So what you really mean is primeAsic now has the same amount of proof that Avalon does, lol

The primeAsic scammers just released a video that shows just as much proof IMO Tongue
112  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS 7970x2 on: March 31, 2013, 02:20:41 AM
You will have a hard time finding 7970's new under $400 these days. That being said I still think $300 is a good deal for a used one,  granted receipt can be provided for warranty purposes. I've paid 300 for the ones I've bought off craigslist as well. If you get alot closer to that number I would be interested

Does anyone have any clue whats going on with my cgminer? I don't have this problem on any other pool as far as I can tell and I've only had the problem since he added merge mining. I have to reboot all my systems now about twice a day. This is what I'm noticing in the cgminer window, may not be exact going by memory. I have cgminer 2.11.2.

GPU0 has been idle for 60 seconds declaring sick
thread 1 and 2 no longer exist
restarting thread 1 and 2

which it does on some gpu's every 15min-1hr or so until eventually it does this

thread 1 and 2 no longer exist
Error -6 Creating Command Queue
Failed to init thread 1
114  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: how do i fix this 5970? on: March 26, 2013, 06:08:01 AM
Back to my original post, bad vrm's. I know thats not what you want to hear but you can get away with a failing voltage regulation system because of the much lower frequency in 2d mode and much more headroom on your voltage. When its failing the ripple is so bad (at stock 3d clocks) that the card will crash instantly like its overclocked way too much. Try it on just core 1 and just on core 2. If it doesn't mine just one core at a time, either ebay it or maybe sell it to AndrewK here on the forums.

 update:

I hooked it up to a different system today. The psu was a good 1000w seasonic and all cables snapped tight into place.
With this as the only card on the system, it booted into windows. Windows 7 recognized it as two 5870 halves in device manager but once I started cgminer it went all berzerk again, black screening and fans to the max. The problem hits instantly once stock non-2d settings are called upon.

Does anyone have other ideas what has caused this, and/or more possible fixes ?
115  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: HOW TO UPDATE CGMINER on BAMT 0.5.c on: March 24, 2013, 10:22:30 AM

you don't need to do a git clone, wget of SDK and mother everytime you want to update cgminer.
your script wastes bandwidth.

Hey I never said it was perfect or even that it was ideal. But it is something you can copy and paste and will get the job done. If somebody would make a better script to just copy and paste and go, I'm all for it. But it is alot easier than making your own script for newbs.
116  Economy / Goods / Re: Avalon Batch 2 Pre-Order #666 - 666 BTC on: March 24, 2013, 08:08:00 AM
you think an ebay account in good standing is worth over $10,000? yeah right! I was scammed out of $250 bucks on a over 500 100% positive account

117  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970s + PCI-e cable risers = trouble on: March 24, 2013, 07:02:24 AM
I believe it has to do with an increased resistance from the additional cable length. Basically with 4 cards you are close to the max 12v that can be pulled through the motherboard through the pci slots. When adding those pci-e extenders you go over the limit. So splicing in a molex into the wires that carry 12v on the ribbon cable should work

some people also say increasing a pci latency setting in bios helps but I've never done it
118  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How Often Do Cards Blow Up? on: March 24, 2013, 01:04:17 AM
Well the way they usually go is they stop being stable at 1gh+ and you have to lower it to 950 then it will be stable a week or two more. You might be able to lower it then to 850-900 for a couple weeks. Then they die.

Don't buy used 5830's!

I've never had any problems with my Sapphire 5830s but I never mess with voltages to get them to 300MH/s.
Really? I've never had to touch the voltages to get to 1GHz (321MH/s). Thing's been stable 24-7 for 24 days of uptime as of right now. My outage 24 days ago was due to a power outage.
119  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining / Pooled Mining Bandwidth Use? on: March 24, 2013, 12:59:50 AM
With stratum and 10ghash I would probably be right below 5gb after 24/7 mining for a month. Stratum seems to drop bandwith usage about 60%
120  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: March 24, 2013, 12:49:49 AM
The knife and pistol is to make sure no one messes with it and for protection.

I don't blame you I'm heavily armed and have the perimeter surrounded by cameras. With an email alert the instant the cameras on the back of the house sense motion. Some $10 motion detector alarms (hopefully it will scare them, lol). I also have a pitbull, it will make some noise too (which actually don't make good guard dogs but they don't know that)

But who am I kidding my miners are almost a huge box of fans. What would they know to do with it?
