101  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] breadwallet, first bitcoin network client for iOS, first BIP32 SPV client on: September 14, 2015, 07:59:53 PM
Sorry for the late response. For now the app only shows a badge icon. If we show the amount of a transaction in a notification, that would be a privacy concern. I suppose we could have the option to display tx amounts in notifications but keep it off by default.

Thanks for chiming in. Keeping amounts off by default is a very good idea. If user decides to see amounts directly in notifications, that's a nice feature to have... but otherwise notifications could display just something like "New payment has arrived." (without specifying any amount).

Keep up the good work!

I wish it was open source so I could host it myself.  Smiley

+1, That would be awesome!
103  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advcash - a new "anonymous" prepaid card [Recharge it with bitcoin] on: August 07, 2015, 08:06:36 AM
Please understand there are limitations of the card vendor. Cards are not issued to customers from India, USA, and a few other countries. I am sure I have mentioned it a few times before.

To avoid repeated questions like this i suggest you create a FAQ page on your website and "Is AdvCash card available in my country?" and "What happens if i don't verify my account?" should be covered there (among many other questions).

Card limitations is very important info IMHO.

Just wanted to give some feedback for this last update. The notification center widget is just amazing! Pretty handy and works perfectly, thank you.

+1 ... Widget is really awesome!

BTW: How is lock-screen notification suppose to look like?

I only get badge number on top of breadwallet icon even though "Show on Lock Screen" is turned on. I never get any breadwallet message on lock screen.

Can someone make a screenshot? Any idea what am i missing?

Any plans on EUR cards?
I believe I have mentioned that before Smiley We plan to launch them next month.

Latest news on EUR denomination? Are we there yet?
106  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: July 17, 2015, 06:05:38 PM
I'm also surprised so many senior and hero members do not hold 1+ btc. Back then (2011-12), it was pretty easy to earn several bitcoins for doing simple tasks...  for example, blockchain.info gave 15btc bounty for translating their blockchain.info wallet and you could do it in a day or two. There were many other similar opportunities.
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: The End of Money as We Know It documentary is out! on: July 15, 2015, 02:39:08 PM
Can I download it using Bitcoin?

Yes, theprotocol.tv lets you stream and/or download the movie for $6.

SQRL revisited (~45min watch):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsotcaizGjM&t=1h37m30s

Steve Gibson explained the concept quite in detail.
Final API is just around the corner.

I hope this is going to get mass adopted. I am not an expert, but to me it sounds bulletproof (if you treat your master rescue code in truly safe place).

Just wait a few days and it'll likely be all over warez and torrent sites. I'm interested in watching it but wont be paying for it either.
For god's effin' sake... it's $6 !!!
Is it really so hard to support authors and their hard work?

Also, from a legal standpoint, with us, you do not really fund your MasterCard with Bitcoin. You fund your e-wallet in our system with it, and then fund your card as necessary. We do not see any potential problems with this in the future.

The same is true e.g. for http://neteller.com/, they don't even touch bitcoin - your account is credited directly via BitPay (100% fiat)...

...yet users are not allowed to use "bitcoin deposited funds" with their MasterCard.

112  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: JoyStream torrent client with paid seeding! on: June 15, 2015, 06:02:29 PM
I find this project very interesting. Great job!

Does this mean that content providers (i.e. Film or Music industry) could potentially sell their content directly via BitTorrent?

But... what happens when file is bought and someone else also seeds it? Does content provider again gets a cut?

Is there a way to prove file/content ownership and get a cut even after initial seeding?

That would be huge... i guess prices could go extremely low (less than a cent) and there would be very small incentive to download illegally...
113  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] CoinMap - Map showing places where Bitcoin is accepted on: June 12, 2015, 08:36:37 AM
Objects are no longer stored in OpenStreetMap. I had quite a long discussion with OSM folks some time ago and they were not very happy about the low quality (missing addresses, etc). of Bitcoin-related OSM nodes. So I decided to do just one-way sync (from OSM to coinmap).
I think this is a big mistake. Low quality of Bitcoin-related OSM nodes should be removed by users directly within coinmap and that should also reflect OSM data.

One-way sync doesn't make any sense to me... the only centralized database should be OSM database. For example: what if someone wants to create android version for bitcoin places and most new nodes are added within coinmap? How is this going to auto-sync?

@AdvancedCash
As we all know MasterCard is not a big Bitcoin fan... so how can we be sure that this service is not going to be cut overnight? With other words... how does your business operates, because most likely MasterCard does not know what you are doing... or do they?
115  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 04, 2015, 09:57:09 AM
What monthly backup seed reminder? I have never seen it. Did you import/create address not from seed and didn't backup?
Seed doesn't need repetitive backups.
I haven't seen it on Android either (yet), but it's there on latest iOS version. Ppl forget that this thread is for Android and iOS versions...
116  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 02, 2015, 06:22:21 PM
FYI: I find new monthly backup seed reminder EXTREMELY annoying.

I understand the need for torturing new users to make a backup... and you indeed should torture them to hell until they finally do make a backup...

...but once it's done...  please leave users alone or at least make a "don't ask me again" option or something...
117  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitaddress.org on: May 28, 2015, 08:22:53 AM
Why just Bitaddress.org, what about bitcoinpaperwallet.com?

AFAIK bitcoinpaperwallet.com is fork of bitaddress.org with some extra features, for example... on bitcoinpaperwallet.com you can create BIP38 private key from previously existing non BIP38 private key (starting with 5).

Regarding OP: bitaddress.org is well known site and has been reviewed by many well known developers. There are no known errors / malfunctions after version v2.2.

Also check this little BIP38 private key test of mine:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1014202.0

I gave BIP38 private keys away and specifically explain what passwords look like. If those would be encrypted 7z or zip or rar files... all of them would be cracked in a matter of seconds.  In our case... wallet no.3 bounty is still available... and password is only 6 characters long! I wonder how long will it take...  : )

And another important note: If you create your paper wallet properly (virgin clean OS booted from CD, air-gapped comp, checking file signature, no internet connection, private place while doing this, using dice and mouse movements for random seed, etc...), two things have to happen in order to "hack" your paper wallet:

1. attacker has to FIRST physically find your paper wallet
2. at the moment 1. is true, attacker is able to start cracking your BIP38 password

And cracking BIP38 passwords is very slow... if you have super cool cracking rig, maybe 100-1000 tries per second  (compared to many millions for encrypted 7z, zip, rar, etc files)

I find this paper wallet guide pretty decent...

Hope this helps...

Are there any future plans also for EUR / GBP denominated cards?

I like this one a lot!

The only thing I miss is no mention of divisibility to 8 decimal places.
