If I knew this, I'd take some loan and buy as many BTC I can...

LOL : )

I think everyone including mr. kwukduck would do that... fortunately it doesn't work this way LOL!

I am also surprised that 3rd wallet is still uncracked. I've got several PMs with "thanks for the money, man!" stating that they will cracked it in a week or two : )
Looks like they miscalculated something...

Anyways... with rising prices and another 10 months to go (2 years total) there is still plenty of time to crack it. Also my hint reduces the time for a brute force attack quite a lot (about 35%).

I currently setup my paper wallets and want to use split wallets.

Is there a way to proof the Shares and check if the right private key works or not
without run it live with BTC?

Thank you.
Sure you can! Enter separate shares into "Available Shares (whitespace separated)" and click "Combine Shares" button to get the private key (it is displayed at the bottom of the screen).

Then you can use "Wallet Details" tab where you can enter the private key (you just got from "Split wallet tab") and check if public address (from "Split Wallet" tab and "Wallet details" tab) match. If it does, it works!

What is the best wallet to pay from a paper wallet? iOS or Mac
Mycelium (Android) and Breadwallet (iOS) work great. CoPay
is also fine and it works on Android, iOS and Win phones.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hack me on: June 02, 2016, 07:28:41 AM
There is only .003 BTC in it.

1MpfTM43HwdJzgzhw7926ePpDpWKGkbssU

I was messing around with faucets and lost the pass.

Bip 38.

I give up trying to figure out what it is, I think it's only 10 chars but really no idea lol.

Send at least 1 bitcoin to that address and i'm sure some people will be interested to hack your bitcoin address Roll Eyes
0.003BTC isn't worth at all, we can use that time to earn more bitcoin.

Good luck with that.

I have a hacking competition open for more than a year and no one hacked just 6 alphabet character long BIP38 password with 1BTC at stake : )

Thunder Network potentially handling 100k+ TPS looks very exciting...

71  Economy / Speculation / Re: What you do if bitcoin reach 5000 $? on: May 09, 2016, 08:17:23 AM
Yes $5000 is possible in near future, I think we can see that price may be after 5 years, when there are more number of users and higher popularity.

Price in 5 years is either much higher than 5K or much lower than today. Bitcoin will be over 10 years old at that time, with other words, the experiment either happens till then (huge adoption) or it does not (just enthusiasts on board).

For huge adoption 5K is peanuts.

As "Nice Try" mentioned above, this is 100% fake.  This sort of irresponsible "journalism" is just embarrassing... I mean, they were already fooled once by Wright's obvious fakery.

How can you be 100% sure? I agree genesis block signature should be used for proof, though.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ever missed the chance of getting bitcoin at cheaper price? on: April 22, 2016, 07:22:42 AM
Buying bellow $1 doesn't automatically make you a millionaire. I know many people who bought btc in single-digits range and have exactly 0 btc at the moment.

You would need to have iron stomach to be able to buy 10k for $20 and still hold majority of it.
75  Economy / Services / Re: I'm BIP38 curious, please help me out! on: April 06, 2016, 11:01:38 PM
Here is a small password hint: If you divide the number of UPPERCASE letters by the number of lowercase letters you get an integer.

This should give you a nice 35% speed boost!
76  Economy / Services / Re: I'm BIP38 curious, please help me out! on: April 06, 2016, 08:17:04 AM
One year went by and 3rd wallet is still loaded with bitcoin : )

I decided to keep this experiment going for another year. I've also added extra 0.5BTC and updated the OP.

In case this wallet is not cracked in a year, I'll take back 1BTC and publish the password.

Happy cracking!

@pointbiz:
I find labeling in v3.2.0 a little bit confusing:

In "Single wallet" tab, string "Bitcoin Address" represents compressed address.
In "Wallet Details" tab, string "Bitcoin Address" represents normal uncompressed address.
The same is true for private keys...

Also - if usage of compressed keys is preferred, it would make sense (at least to me) that compressed bitcoin address would be the first choice (on the left side) in "Wallet Details" tab.

Just my 0.00000002

The error is uncaught and shows in the console:
Checksum validation failed!

Yes, I'll fix it so that the error is handled and shown to the user. No one can lose money due to that bug, so I'll fit it in with the next release.

Thanks for reporting it.

v3.2.0 still shows "uncaught exception: Checksum validation failed!" in console.
